It's been a while, hasn't it! I didn't really have much inspiration to finish this chapter, it has been laying around in my notes for a long time. But till this day I still get kudos on 'Archive of Our Own,' so why not give it a shot!
"So, Bumi."
The Airbender snuck up behind Lin and embraced her from behind, resting his hairless chin on top of Lin's broad and bulky shoulder. Lin's eyes rolled to the side of her head and had to take in the sight of her own goofy face. Realizing she has never seen her own face looking this ridiculous before.
"What." She snapped as she lowered her eyebrows in annoyance. "And don't call me Bumi!" She added while lifting her shoulder and roughly bumping it against Bumi's jaw which made him wince in pain and reach for it with his hand to soothe the sore spot.
Once he recovered from Lin's sudden attack, his smirk returned once again. "Oh c'mon, Bum-" he had stopped in the middle of his sentence once he received a piercing glare, coming from his own face. "I've never seen myself look this angry before," he crossed his arms and slightly nodded in fascination, "interesting," he added which earned a chuckle coming from Suyin who suddenly appeared in the doorway.
"Still getting on Lin's nerves, I see?" She raised a brow while she crossed her arms without letting the smirk on her face leave. "When is he not?" Lin snapped out of frustration and threw her hands in the air for a moment.
Suyin chuckled once again as she shook her head. "I came to inform you guys that dinner is ready. Come join us." Turning around to walk away, she gestured with her hand for the duo to follow her to the dining room. Lin shot a grinning Bumi one last warning look before she headed in the same direction as her sister.
Like any other night, a bunch of friends and family having dinner together while enjoying each other's company. Though, the same couldn't be said for Lin. She didn't care to participate in any of the conversations going on around the table, simply nodding or humming in response whenever something was being asked. That was until a certain exchange caught her attention, causing her to spread her ears and look up from her dinner meal.
"-yes. It feels great having a hairless body! I didn't expect it to feel so comfortable."
Lin raised her brow, her glare shifting away from her plate upon hearing the discussion. "Excuse me?" She calmly asked causing a flushing Bolin and grinning Bumi to turn their heads in the direction of Lin. "Well..." Bolin stammered before Bumi, who felt so full of himself interrupted him. "I'm just explaining to this young man-" he gave Bolin a firm pat on the back, causing the young lavabender to wince slightly, "how silky and smooth your skin is!"
Lin's eyeballs were close to fall out as she looked at the two with wide eyes. "What!" It had caused Suyin to chuckle and Bolin to wave his hands furiously in front of him to defend himself. "I swear, chief! He brought the subject up himself!" It caused Opal to roll her eyes but was still able to pull off a smile, she knew the older airbender loved getting under her aunt's skin and would involve anyone in his little pranks to succeed.
Lin only put her hand up and gave a single nod, letting the kid know she had heard enough before she went back to consume her meal. "You're surprisingly calm," Suyin pointed out while raising a brow, saying what everyone else in the room was thinking. Suyin was almost fascinated since she expected an outburst coming from her older sister. Lin took a sip from her drink, put her glass down and looked up to face her sister. "It's no use to get angry now, Su," the room grew quiet and Lin moved her gaze to meet Bumi's. "Can't argue with an over a 6 foot tall hairy man child."
The chief pulled off a slight smile, trying her best to make it unnoticed. She had a reputation and refused to scandalize it. Lin Beifong doesn't smile in the presence of others. Another moment of silence had past until Korra bursted out, "Hairy man child!" The realization that the chief had come up with a silly nickname had hit her, she had the rest of the group joining in and blend their laughter with hers. Even Tenzin pulled off a chuckle.
"Who knew?" Bumi had a wide smile on his face that wouldn't leave anytime soon. "The chief does have some sense of humor!"
"Like I said the day before, Bumi." Lin rolled her eyes and looked right at him once again. "I'm not a boring uptight stick like the most of you thought."
"That," Tenzin began, all the eyes shifting in his direction, "is something I can agree with." That statement had only gained the curiosity to find out what the chief was like when she was younger.
"Well," Bumi interrupted their thoughts and gained their attention once again. "If you say so, you wouldn't mind sleeping with me then, do you?"
That question had taken everyone aback. Meelo's ears covered, jaws dropping on the floor, eyes widening, some of them taking a step back to prevent themselves from being involved by the now furious metalbender's attacks. Even Bumi leaned back to back away from Lin who sat on the opposite side of the table.
"Why? Why would even say such a thing!" A red headed Lin roared. Su was probably the only one who managed to see the light in this conversation since she couldn't help it but laugh, scolded by her own children for doing so.
"I mean," Bumi held his hands up to defend himself. "I was just wondering," the first fearful look on his face disappeared and he wore his goofy old smirk again. "I don't have my trusty old dong anymore. What does sex feel like now that I'm a woman?"
It didn't take long for Bumi to receive a response, not the one he expected to receive but the loud laughter coming from the people surrounding him was still appreciated. "Can't you for once stop tormenting Lin?" Korra asked whilst clutching her stomach.
Suyin laughed and slapped Lin on the back. "I'd take the chance while you can!" Lin's angered gaze shifted from Bumi to Suyin. "Come on, aren't you curious?" She asked whilst raising a brow, being scolded by her kids (once again) for the inappropriate question.
"No!" Lin roared as she slammed her fists down onto the table, probably even scaring the birds and causing them to fly away from the island. "That thought has notcrossed my mind once and I don't plan on finding out either!" She faced Bumi once again. "So you better take that idea out of that big head of yours."
Bumi pointed to his head and smirked. "This is your head-"
"You know what I mean." Lin growled and quickly interrupted him before he could even make a smart ass retort.
Tenzin was one of the very few (actually the only one) to try and keep his mind clear. He did pull off a smile at first but later on shook his head and rolled his eyes at his brother's remarks. "Quit this nonsense already, Bumi. Lin wouldn't even let you touch her with a ten foot pole."
"She even used to let you touch her, Tenny. So she'll definitely have me." Bumi's retort and wiggling eyebrows made Tenzin red and lower his eyebrows, the wrinkles appearing in between them. Pema tried to pretend she was too busy soothing Rohan and ignored whatever was happening around her, at least when it came to her husband's past relationship.
"Bumi, I will-" Lin stopped in the middle of her death threat when the doorbell rang, also causing the laughter to die down in a moment of silence. "I didn't know you invited anyone." Pema half asked her husband who got up from his seat to see who was standing on the other side of the door. "I didn't."
Suyin looked up from her plate, somewhat surprised, "That's-"
Gasping the moment he opened the door. A wide grin appeared on the elderly woman's face who stood right in front of Tenzin. Her fist bumping the man's shoulder who looked just like her old friend.
"It's been a while, Twinkletoes junior."
