Here you go guys, the chapter we've all been waiting for! I've been writing and rewriting some scenes because I wanted this to be perfect. This is their moment people, so this is all ikari and nothing else!
Enjoy!
8:25 p.m.
The two were at the front of May's doorstep fifteen minutes after.
Paul had offered to drive her home, but the entire car ride had been painfully silent, save for the light music playing on the radio. He could tell that he definitely screwed things up because Dawn didn't even spare him a passing glance. He couldn't blame her for choosing to ignore him though; he deserved it for being an ass these past couple months.
The door swivelled open and May smiled, but it quickly faltered when she noticed her friend's head drooping low, her gaze to the floor. She looked at Paul incredulously. "What happened?!"
Dawn stepped in, making sure her back was facing Paul. May looked at her distraught friend in astonishment and then glanced at Paul again. "I swear to Arceus, if you did anything to make her like this, I will kill you!"
Paul was about to speak when Dawn interrupted, being the first time she had spoken after the near death incident. "I had a panic attack. But I'm fine now." But her soft voice indicated that she was anything but fine.
"Again?" May asked in clear shock and worry. "Okay hang on, I'll bring you a glass of water," she said before walking away into the kitchen.
Paul didn't move as he noticed Dawn attempting to walk further away. "Wait," he called out in a pleading manner. She hesitated for a few seconds, not wanting to glance at him. But his lingering presence just did something to her, and she found herself turning around to face him. The look in her blue sapphire eyes indicated that she was mentally exhausted, and that fact alone made Paul speechless. He cleared his throat. "Erm…look. Whatever happened –"
Dawn suddenly gathered courage and now a fierce look was apparent on her features. She surprised both herself and Paul when she said, "I don't want to hear it. Now get out." Paul didn't even have enough time to protest before she literally slammed the door in his face, a piercing loud slam being heard.
The memory of when he had done the same to her a few months ago was dancing in her mind. Now that the tables had turned, she oddly felt satisfied. Her patience was running thin and truth be told, the flame had probably burnt out. She couldn't deal with the agony anymore. She was mentally tired.
May rushed out of the kitchen with a glass of water in her hand. "What was that loud noise?"
Dawn walked up to her and took the glass in her hand. "Paul getting a taste of his own medicine," she replied vaguely, with a subtle hint of annoyance indicated at her tone. She took a sip of water before handing the glass back to May.
May was surprised to see this aggressive side of Dawn. She quickly concluded that Paul had done something immensely aggravating to get on her nerves. "What did he do?"
Dawn sighed heavily. "It's not just one thing: It's a lot. He's so confusing, May. At one point, he blames me for Reggie's accident and then he makes excuses to get close to me yet tells me to stay away from him. I've just had enough."
May was ecstatic to hear this. "Good for you, you don't deserve a jackass like him. There are so many other guys out there. You can't just keep waiting forever."
"Yeah!" Dawn exclaimed. "Honestly, screw Paul. I don't even know what I saw in the guy. He's a douche and always will be." She had to blame her harsh tone on the events that had happened earlier, because she knew what she had uttered was a big fat lie.
Plus, the fact that she knew she was lying to herself started to irritate her.
Her words seemed to be convincing May as she grinned. "Great. But why did you have the panic attack? I thought those only come to you when something serious happens," she said, raising an eyebrow.
The last time she had a panic attack was the night her mother died. Her panic attacks were very rare, albeit and only occurred during a drastic or devastating event. She could recall the way Paul was trying to comfort her and the way he hugged her tightly as if his life depended on it. No, I can't get trapped again. Screw this! "I was thinking about what Paul said and I…nearly got into an accident."
May's jaw literally dropped. "What?! And you didn't think you'd let me know about this information? What the hell is wrong with you, Dawn?" Dawn was about to utter something, but May wouldn't let her. "No, I don't want to hear it! From now on, you're staying away from Paul, because he's done enough! And I'm pretty sure you think the same."
Dawn was too fatigued to argue with May, so she just nodded. "You're right." She knew May was right. It just wasn't worth it anymore. She couldn't wait anymore.
Despite that thought in her mind, why did she feel as there was still hope?
Reggie sat across from Paul with a disappointed look in his eyes. He had trouble deciphering the fact that his little brother refused to listen to him despite the countless amount of advice he had given Paul. "I don't what to tell you anymore, Paul. I tell you do one thing and you ignore it and do whatever you please. At this point, you're clearly asking for Dawn to hate you."
Paul sighed and ran his fingers through his purple locks in a frustrating manner. Dawn was too important in his life so naturally, the last thing he would want was for her to hate him. He previously only thought he wanted this, but the reality was that he was too scared of being close to her.
Reggie looked at him with sympathy. "Paul, we're brothers, okay? Now, I've been asking you this since forever. Why are you doing this to her? Why are you doing this to yourself? And you are not leaving until I get an answer."
He really had been intentionally evading this for too long. If there was anyone who truly deserved to know other than Dawn herself, it was Reggie. He sighed, preparing himself. "To be honest…I was scared." He paused to see Reggie's reaction which indicated for him to continue. "I think a major part of it has to do with me being alone for so many years. All the people that I was ever close to, left. That mentality's been embedded in my mind. So, when I realized that I was getting close to Dawn, I guess…" he trailed off.
"You wanted to push her away instead? So, you don't end up getting hurt?" Reggie finished for him. Paul nodded in response. "Well, how'd that work out for you?"
Paul huffed and muttered, "Not so great."
Reggie let out an amused chuckle. "Don't you think that Dawn would have understood? Did you really think she was going to leave?"
"Did I know that you were going to get into a coma for six months? No. Did I know that Aunt Vivian never came around because she was the one that crashed into you? No. No one intends to leave. They just do."
Reggie frowned. "Leaving isn't always a choice, Paul," he replied. A smile was seen on his lips as he realized that Paul had finally revealed his inner feelings and insecurities. "I didn't know you felt that way." Paul chose to stay quiet this time around. "What do you want to do, Paul?"
Paul didn't know exactly what he wanted to do, but what he knew for certain was that he didn't want to lose Dawn anymore. He was done pushing her around. "I don't want to push Dawn away anymore."
Reggie smiled in response. He could tell Dawn meant a lot to him. Whether Paul realized it or not, Dawn always had an impact on him. It was because of her that Paul had changed, arguably for the better. "Then don't. Win her back."
Paul snorted. There was already too much damage in their relationship. "Easier said than done."
"I never said it was going to be easy."
Paul narrowed his eyes. "Well is there anything I can do?"
"Sure. You can start by apologizing to her and explaining yourself."
Paul inwardly sighed, closing his eyes. "She wouldn't listen to a word I said." He opened his eyes.
"Okay. Then just give her time. Give her a few days to cool it off. And then you can talk to her," Reggie replied, while Paul nodded in response. "And then after that, you'll talk about your feelings towards her right?"
That caught him off guard. He wanted to express his feelings, but he had no idea how to, plus he'd envision he'd had a difficult time doing it. It was his first time having intense feelings for a girl, it was obvious that he was no expert in that department. "I guess."
"Okay, great, how would you do it? What would you tell Dawn?" He pressed, proceeding to make his younger brother even more uncomfortable. He laughed. "Okay how about this? Let's do a little roleplay. Pretend I'm Dawn. What would you say to me?" Paul raised his eyebrows in awe. Much to his inner turmoil, Reggie then proceeded to flip his hair and let out a girly giggle, making Paul wanting to facepalm.
Paul rolled his eyes. "Can we not do this?" Reggie burst out laughing. "It's not funny. Dawn doesn't even act like that."
Reggie still let out amusing chuckles. He noticed he was quick to defend Dawn as well. "Okay, okay. We all know you have trouble talking about your feelings. So, what if instead of trying to talk about your feelings, you do it in a different way?" he suggested, placing an emphasis on the word 'different'.
Paul was a bit perplexed. "Meaning?"
"I mean, that you could try to show her how much you mean to her. Show how much you like her." Reggie elaborated.
Paul raised an eyebrow. "You mean like give her a painting or something?"
That wasn't exactly on Reggie's mind, but at least he was on the right path. "Not exactly. What I meant was that you could do something that clearly shows you're interested in her; something most couples do."
The perplexed look on Paul's face was gone and replaced with a look of embarrassment in realization of what he was talking about. It was evident what he was referring to. He figured that one job of being a boyfriend was to show a good amount of affection to Dawn, something else he wasn't exactly an expert in.
"It's okay, Paul, you can practice kissing on your pillow later tonight." Reggie smirked.
"I'm out of here."
9:15 p.m.
Dawn was now in her room, continuing to prepare for her test on Monday, but it was almost impossible to focus without a clear mind. Every little thing seemed to distract her, especially Paul, who was still unbelievably constantly in her mind.
Suddenly, a hand closed the textbook in front of her. Dawn sent a glare towards May, who was holding a plate with food. "What are you doing? I have a test on Monday!"
May removed the textbook from the table and placed the dinner plate. "I don't care. You skipped dinner, plus you had a panic attack. You need to eat, and you better not argue with me, or else I will throw your textbook in the trash." She warned.
Dawn rolled her eyes annoyingly at her best friend's antics. "Ugh, fine." She groaned before taking a spoonful of rice. May smiled when she took the first bite. "Happy?"
The brunette nodded in response. "And you're not studying until you eat everything, understand? You gotta have curves like me and to do that, you have to eat a lot."
Dawn stifled a laugh as she continued to munch on her food. She knew her best friend was just looking out for her. She widened her eyes when her phone started to vibrate. She looked at the caller ID and when she realized it was Paul calling, she glanced at May cautiously, who was staring at her phone on the desk as well.
Dawn bit her lip, hesitating longer than May anticipated, before she declined the call. A moment of silence ensued.
Then her phone started vibrating again.
Before Dawn could say anything, May quickly answered, placing the phone to her ear. "I'm sorry, but I'd rather you not call my best friend after treating her like shit."
"Where's Dawn?" Paul's voice echoed from the other line. May looked at Dawn and to her surprise, she looked interested in what Paul had to say.
Still, May responded, "She's busy right now and doesn't have time to listen to whatever excuse you may have because she knows that –"
"Let me just talk to her for five minutes," he pleaded. "At least tell me if she's fine or not."
"Yes, she is. If that's all you had to say, then goodbye," she said before hanging up and handing the phone back to Dawn. "Can you believe this guy? Trying to talk to you after what he did to you?" She sighed heavily. "Anyway, I handled it for you."
For some reason, the fact that Paul was attempting to speak to her meant that he cared. But was he sending mixed signals again? He'd shown signs of caring for her again, but he'd always end up giving her the cold shoulder afterwards. "Thanks," she mumbled softly after finishing her last bite off her plate. The brunette smiled gratefully before taking her plate and walking out of the room.
Dawn glanced at her phone, debating whether or not to call Paul and listen to what he had to say. Wait, why should I have to listen to him? He never listened to what I had to say. He never believed me once.
She mentally groaned to herself, feeling fatigue in her body once again. A yawn escaped her lips and she just tried to clear her thoughts now before she ended up stressing herself out. She walked into the bathroom as she started getting ready for a peaceful night's sleep.
Satuday; November 20th; May's Residence; 10:09 a.m.
A few days had passed and soon enough, the weekend had arrived in a blink of an eye. Today was Dawn's day off from work so she decided to dedicate and prioritize her day to studying for that demeaning test on Monday.
After she grabbed breakfast, she opened her textbooks and notebooks, directing her focus solely on this preparation and nothing else. She wanted to ensure nothing distracted her so she turned off her phone.
A knock was heard, almost causing her to jump, and the blunette sighed before she opened her bedroom door. "Max?"
The young male walked in without saying a word, allowing confusion to appear on Dawn's features. In his hands were a bunch of school supplies. "You have a test on Monday, right?"
Dawn nodded absentmindedly, not sure what he was trying to accomplish. Then, as she watched him place the supplies on the desk, she lit up and grinned happily. "Of course! The answer's been here all along! You could help me pass my test!" She exclaimed excitedly.
Max adjusted his glasses, smiling proudly. "Exactly. Now what do you need help with? Algebra? Functions?"
Dawn sweat-dropped. Perhaps she had been overestimating how smart Max was. She was still grateful for his attempt of assistance. "No, it's calculus," she admitted.
His demeanour dropped as he sheepishly scratched his head. "Oh," he said in disappointment. "I really have no clue about that class." Dawn sighed, placing her palms over her hair in frustration. At this point, she might as well accept defeat and deal with the fate of her failure. "Why don't you just get Paul to help you? He was your tutor, right?"
Dawn removed her palms and looked at him in disbelief. "No way. Paul has been nothing but a huge prick to me, plus he stopped being my tutor. I pretty much want nothing to do with him." She sneered, but she could tell that what she had uttered was still somewhat of a lie.
Max shrugged. "I mean from what I see, he's your only hope of passing that test. But hey, it's up to you. Good luck." He then retrieved his school supplies and soon left the room.
Dawn sighed to herself, defeated. She had been ignoring him all week and even intentionally not return his calls. Going back to him meant she had to stop ignoring him and eventually make conversation. It meant he would have a chance to explain himself–that is, if he wanted to. But she couldn't be entirely sure.
She had two options: Confront him or fail the test.
Searching through one of the drawers, she pulled out a coin. If she couldn't clear her confusion, she decided to let a coin choose her fate. "Okay, heads: Paul. Tails: No Paul."
She then exhaled before flipping the coin.
12:37 p.m.
Dawn was waiting out of the house as she watched the familiar truck park in May's driveway. The coin had decided her fate and that was a sign that clearly told her she needed Paul's help and on a less important note, hopefully resolve things between them. But if he disappointed her yet again, she was done with him. He had one last chance.
She watched as Leaf jumped out carefully. "Thank goodness, now let's hurry up!" Dawn exclaimed as she attempted to climb up into the truck.
"Why are you in such a rush anyway?" Leaf asked from behind her. She sat beside Dawn and adjusted her seatbelt.
Leaf's dad, who was in the driver's seat, simply chuckled. "Dawn, you're getting a bit out of hand, aren't you?" he teased.
Dawn felt her cheeks redden a bit before she frowned. "I just don't want May to suspect anything. She doesn't want me anywhere near Paul."
Leaf formed an 'o' with her lips as she nodded in understanding. As Leaf's dad backed the truck out of the driveway, the brunette widened her eyes in shock when she noticed May on her porch with her hands on her hips. "Um, well, I think that's going to be a bit more difficult," she said, slightly pointing out the window to where May stood.
Dawn mentally groaned to herself as May walked forward, her hands still on her hips in suspicion. "You didn't tell you were going anywhere. Are you ditching me?" she asked.
Dawn stumbled on her words. "Wha–no, of course not! I'm just going to the…library to study. I couldn't really focus."
May narrowed her eyes. "The school library's not open on the weekends."
That rendered Dawn speechless and she internally struggled for an excuse. Luckily, Leaf decided to speak. "Yeah, we're going to the Lumoise library."
"Oh," May said. "Well, why didn't you just ask me to drop you, Dawn?"
Dawn laughed sheepishly. "Come on, May, you were busy. I couldn't ask you to do that."
May was confused. "I was watching TV." She pointed out lamely.
Dawn blinked in response. "…Exactly. Everyone knows how much you love your shows, right?" She continued sheepishly laughing, until Leaf hit her side with her elbow to prevent May from growing any more suspicious. She cleared her throat. "No need to worry, I'll be back soon."
Thankfully, that seemed to reassure her. "Well, alright. I'll see you guys later." The two girls smiled and nodded in response.
When they were finally on the road, both May and Leaf sighed a breath of relief. "That was a close one," Dawn said.
The brunette beside her nodded in response. "Yeah, we're really lucky that May's clueless sometimes." She added, resulting in them laughing.
City Mall. 1:33 p.m.
Paul handed the tickets to the customers and nodded when he received the payment. "Enjoy the movie," he said, which resulted in a quirky smile from them.
His heart soared as he envisioned Dawn's cheerful and bright smile. He cautiously held a hand to where his chest was, feeling the rhythmic beating of his heart. The familiar heat rose up to the back of his neck. He could hardly decipher that a random smile from a random person could remind him of Dawn.
For all this week, he had contemplated several times visiting her or even talk to her in school, but that would go against Reggie's advice. No matter how much he had yearned to talk to her, yearned to see her, yearned for her, he knew he had to be patient.
A familiar person was seen across the booth and managed to break his thoughts away. Upon seeing Drew, Paul realized that in all these months of him attempting to be his friend, he had indirectly pushed Drew away too. With that thought in mind, he walked out of the booth and approached him.
"Hey."
Drew's eyes caught sight of Paul and he gave him a friendly smile. "What's up?"
He cleared his throat. "Mind if we talk for a few seconds?"
Drew shook his head. "Not at all, man."
Paul nodded in response, fumbling with his fingers, feeling his nerves get the best of him. He hesitated for a few seconds before finally speaking, "I just wanted to apologize for being a dick to you. You didn't deserve it." Drew could hardly believe his ears. Never would he have imagined that Paul would apologize, something he rarely did. "Being alone is somewhat of a double-edged sword to me. So–"
"Woah, woah, woah!" Drew exclaimed as he raised his hands up, allowing Paul to stop effectively. "It's hard to believe that you're apologizing, let me process that first," he admitted somewhat jokingly while Paul rolled his eyes in response. "But don't worry, I get it, man. You're just different. That doesn't mean it's a bad thing."
Paul let out a breath he didn't even realize he was holding. In all honesty, he didn't expect Drew to understand so quickly. "Hn."
Drew laughed. "But of course, some things never change."
Paul's lips twitched upwards and much to Drew's surprise, he let out a chuckle. "Okay, who are you and what have you done with the real Paul? You're laughing."
The smile never left his lips. He had to admit to himself, he noticed himself changing slightly. He'd find himself smiling more instead of frowning almost all the time. He'd notice himself no longer feeling the need to be alone.
A smirk was seen on Drew's lips. "Wow, Dawn really has changed you."
Paul chose not to respond but found himself in shock when he noticed Dawn a few feet away from them. It felt like some sort of mirage seeing her again and he felt his stomach turn into knots when she locked eyes with him.
Soon enough, Dawn approached Paul, who still had trouble believing she was here. "I need your help," she said vaguely. She cleared her throat before she added, "I have this Math test on Monday and I really need your help. I just can't seem to–"
Paul cut her off. "Let's go." Dawn seemed slightly shocked that he agreed in an instant, not even hesitating once. He turned to Drew, who was smiling in a teasing manner to himself. "Would you mind covering my shift?"
Drew nodded. "No, go ahead."
Paul nodded before glancing at Dawn as he began walking, with her following from behind. If he had to be honest with himself, he had no intention of tutoring her right now. He was presented with a golden opportunity right now, and he was going to take full advantage of it.
The two headed for the elevator and once they were inside, the feeling of nostalgia washed over them instantly. The catchy elevator music surrounded the atmosphere and hit their eardrums. Their first meeting had occurred in the exact same way.
The two glanced at each other, but it soon turned into an intense gaze. There was something in the air that pulled them towards each other, simply with their eyes and drew them closer. Almost like magnets, something electrifying was happening and heaved them even closer.
Dawn had no idea what was happening, but her breaths were getting shakier at their close proximity.
The feeling of déjà vu registered when they felt the ground below them stop moving as it came to a stop. The soothing elevator music couldn't be heard anymore. They were stuck yet again in an elevator, as if fate was teasing them.
Dawn wasn't a fan of cramped spaces and unlike what she had done the first time they had been trapped in the elevator, instead of panicking, she pulled out her phone. But the phone was taken away from her grip. She watched incredulously as he placed her phone in his pocket. "What are you doing?!"
But her question never registered in his mind. His brother's words repeated. 'Show her how much you like her'.
He stepped closer, their breaths practically mingling. Dawn tried to ignore her rapid beating heart and the blush that was apparent on her cheeks. "G-Give me my phone back." She demanded. He deliberately said nothing in response and instead his lips quirked into a smile. "Oh my gosh, you're such a prick and you're so annoying! I'm trying to get help so we can get out of here!"
"Oh, I'm the annoying one?" Paul asked in slight astonishment.
Dawn nodded. "Yes and you're also a jerk, a prick, an asshole, not to mention, insensitive and cold–"
He bravely pressed his lips against hers, the feeling of warmth and contentment in his stomach. Dawn was so shocked and was unable to decipher that this moment was happening. But she then submitted herself to him, drooping her eyes closed, moving her lips with his warm but firm ones. Everything else disappeared as her mind floated, and her heart sank into a beautiful bliss as it hammered wildly in her chest.
The kiss lasted for less than three seconds and when they released, Paul suddenly looked nervous and somewhat in shock as if he himself was unable to believe that this happened. But yet, he had never been so thrilled in his life. That may have been the most daring yet frightening thing he had done in his life.
Before Dawn could say anything, the floor beneath them abruptly started moving again and the catchy elevator music resumed as a 'ding' was heard.
The two walked out, side by side, but they stopped to look at each other, memories of the kiss still fresh in their memory. Paul didn't want to evade this any longer. The more he looked at her, the more he thought about all the times she'd been in distraught and misery because of him and his insecurities.
"I need to talk to you," he spoke, but it sounded like he was pleading.
Dawn was ready. The time had finally come. Her patience wasn't going to go to waste. "Okay," she breathed.
It was raining.
The quiet pitter-patter was faintly drumming as the raindrops hit the roof of Paul's car and the streets around them. Dawn watched carefully as the raindrops glided down over the car windshield and windows. Streaks of white light flashed across the night sky, enlightening the environment for a good second.
Paul was seated in the driver's seat and he was facing forward, almost as if he was afraid to glance at her at beside him. His chest kept slightly heaving and his shoulders remained stiff. The kiss replayed repeatedly in his mind, and the weird thing was that he found himself craving to do something exhilarating like that again.
She could tell he was nervous. She understood what his intentions were, but she knew that he had trouble expressing his feelings. But he had established to her that he indeed reciprocated her feelings, something that she was ecstatic about. This new boundary that he had crossed when he kissed her indicated to her that he was willing to try something new.
Dawn tried to help by placing a hand on his shoulder in a comforting manner. That surprisingly caused him to relax and after what seemed like years, he looked at her. His onix eyes indicated that he didn't know what to say. She then removed her hand and instead took his hand, interlocking her fingers with his, as if to encourage him.
He sighed, his eyes closing for a brief second before they opened. "I don't even know where to start."
Dawn offered him a smile, appreciative of the fact that he was at least trying to open up. "How about from the beginning?" She suggested.
Paul recalled the day when things began to grow awry between them, which was the night he slammed the door on her for having a stupid misunderstanding. He cleared his throat. This was it; he was about to explain why he had been shutting her out for so long and let her know how much she meant to him. "That night, before I slammed the door in your face, Reggie got a call from the hospital." He started.
Dawn seemed intrigued and urged him to continue, as her hand tightened with his. "And?"
"Well…at first, I had a misconception that you crashed into Reggie that night." He added. Dawn nodded, remembering how he had falsely accused her. "I didn't know what to think at first. But for some reason, I couldn't believe it. That's when I realized I was starting to trust you and get close to you. That's something I'm not really used to, aside from Reggie."
"For majority of my life, I've been alone. And anybody that gets close to me always leaves whether by choice or not. I was afraid of getting hurt and I didn't want that. So, I did everything I could to make you hate me. I constantly pushed you away so that I could avoid getting closer and closer with you."
Dawn watched him intensely, as her face softened.
"But despite doing that, I didn't feel content. I felt awful. I felt like a horrible monster. I felt…pathetic." He darted his eyes away from her for a split second as he sighed again. "I hated hurting you, because every single time that I did, every moment I saw you cry, I was also hurting myself. And I didn't understand why."
He glanced at her again. "I just couldn't stay away."
Her breath hitched. This had to be a dream; it was too good to be true. He was finally expressing himself, something she longed for ever since he had begun to ignore her.
"I couldn't stay away either," she confessed, letting out a lame laugh.
Just like magnets.
He straightened his lips into a thin line. His heartbeat was accelerating wildly at this point. "I can understand if you don't feel the same."
Dawn looked at his in astonishment and her mouth was agape. After all this, he still was doubting himself? "You're literally the most infuriating person I've ever met!" She yelled abruptly.
Paul was taken aback and raised his brows in confusion. "What?"
She literally wanted to face-palm but refrained from doing so. She only laughed at his cluelessness. "Paul, I've been crushing on you for over two months now."
His lips parted in clear surprise. The girl whom he'd been hurting and causing distress had returned his feelings? "…Really? Why…why didn't you say anything?"
A small smile tugged at her lips. "I was going to. Remember the night you slammed the door in my face and pushed me?"
He remained perplexed for a second or two before realization was clearly seen in his features. He closed his eyes and winced to himself. Not only had he caused a strain in their friendship, but he had almost literally made her hate him. He opened his eyes and tightened their enclosed palms. "I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. For everything."
Dawn could tell from his eyes and the tone of his voice that he was being genuine about the apology. She could tell he felt remorse about everything.
"I know it's unlikely that you'll forgive me–"
"Shut up, Paul." Dawn spoke, cutting him off. He watched her in slight surprise. She reached out and with her free hand, caressed the side of his face. "I've been waiting for this since who knows how long. I never thought that this moment would come and now that it's finally here…I'm not throwing it away. I want this. I've always did."
Her sapphire eyes bored into his and his breathing quickened when her thumb rubbed against his skin, heat rising to his neck. "I do too." He admitted, as he watched her smile widen. That made him let out a wry smile as well. "But I'll be honest. I…I've never done this before. I'll probably be bad at being a…boyfriend," he blurted.
She removed her hand from his face and laughed lightly. "No need to worry. I've never done this either. But, we'll figure it out; together."
Paul nodded. "Together."
Dawn grinned in reply and leaned towards him, resting her head against his shoulder. She felt immediate comfort and satisfaction with this. Paul looked down at her, briefly wondering if she could hear his thumping heart. She looked up at him. "So…are you going to tutor me now?"
To her pleasant surprise, a deep and heart-stopping chuckle escaped from his lips as his chest reverberated, amusement clear in his eyes. "Hn. Sure."
As he continued looking at her and her smile, he soon felt at ease and the nervousness soon faded away. At this moment, he was content and worried about nothing else.
He was no longer afraid.
And that's the end of the story guyssss! Thanks so much for reading, I appreciate it.
Okay, I'm just kidding, haha. This isn't the end yet. We're just getting started with Paul and Dawn and omg I can't believe it happened myself. I remember like it was just yesterday when Paul was an ass. They grow up so fast XD. With that said, I really hope you guys enjoyed this, it's about time Paul and Dawn got together. This is also major development for Paul, of course, with him expressing himself.
So let me know what you guys thought with a review. :)
See you guys next time!
