A/N: Hey guys! It's been forever since I've updated this story and for that I am SORRY. I was just really into my other stories I have published like my American Horror Story one...which will be updated soon. I, however, wanted to update this story next because I just saw the movie Glass and it made me think about the Superhero fanfics I have out, specifically this one. Not to mention, I've been listening to the Unbreakable movie soundtrack and it just made me think more about Estelle and her journey as a Superhero.

BTW, this chapter is short but it focuses on Estelle and Harley. It's mainly Estelle opening up to the Queen of Gotham...which means they are getting closer to one another...despite Estelle not wanting to, progress right? Gotta love Harley's persistence. But in all seriousness, this is an important chapter regarding Estelle and Harley's relationship because it's showing how Estelle is slowly becoming more comfortable around her and she ends up sharing some personal things with her...you'll see what I mean once you read the chapter.

I also saw Aquaman and I liked it. It was pretty good. I saw it in 4DX which means it was with the movable seats and that just made the action scenes more fun to experience. If you pay attention you get a hint of Aquaman in this chapter...despite Estelle not knowing about his existence yet haha. In this chapter you'll find out that Estelle isn't a fan of water...specifically the ocean...which only means that'll be quite interesting when she finally does meet Aquaman later on.

Chapter 14: An actual conversation

Estelle was feeling better. Well, at least that's what she kept telling herself. As the group moved through Midway City together, the twenty-one year old kept thinking, "I'm fine. I'm fine. I'm fine." She figured that if she kept telling that to herself that she'd soon enough have to end up believing herself.

That was something that worked in the past. Granted it wasn't because of the extended use of her powers...but like she read before when in school her tiredness was just a mind over matter thing. That's what she needed to focus on. Unfortunately her thoughts were interrupted when she heard and felt someone start to walk beside her. It didn't take long for Estelle to realize just who it was.

"You doing okay there, bestie?" Harley asked in a rather chipper tone.

Right away from her left side, Estelle saw Katana staring their way. Even with the mask she was wearing, Estelle could tell there was wariness behind her dark eyes as she glared at Harley. Estelle just gave her a single nod letting her know she was fine.

Harley saw this and swiftly shifted her gaze onto Katana, who was very much still staring harshly at her. The Queen of Gotham just stuck out her tongue at her. Estelle witnessed that and she ended up shaking her head at her foolishness. Katana's glare on Harley remained very briefly before she moved forward to focus on the others that were in front of them.

Estelle was glad nothing else happened between Harley and Katana. The twenty-one year old was also glad Rick hadn't noticed that scene between the women playing out. Not that it was huge, but still. Rick's temper when it came to Harley's shenanigans was short. The Colonel at the moment was up at the front, while Estelle lingered towards the back with Katana and a few of the other soldiers that were with them.

This might have seemed like a bad move but it was actually strategic. Plus there were way more soldiers up in front with Rick. And if anybody did have the stones to actually try to escape...well, it wouldn't exactly end well for them. Not that Estelle wanted to witness the bomb in their necks go off. But if they were dumb enough to try...that was on them. Whatever happened though, the blue eyed girl would protect Rick with her life...for the reassurance of Lilly's heart surgery.

Thinking about Lilly now strangely made Estelle remember Harley's question from moments ago. "Yeah." Estelle dismissed right away. The dark haired girl didn't even look at Harley when she answered her. She just kept walking forward. Her response only of course confirmed what Harley already knew.

The Queen of Gotham rolled her eyes. "Ain't use in lying to me, Stella. I know something's up." Using her baseball bat, she pointed it towards her face. She lowered her voice with what she said next. "I saw the blood. Now, you wanna tell me what's up?"

Hearing Harley say that almost made Estelle stop walking. However, she knew doing that would only draw attention from the others. She managed to keep an outward composure but on the inside she was panicking. She had seen her nose bleed? Great...just great. The last thing she wanted was for the others to know she had a weak moment. Especially Harley. Worry should have been the feeling she should have felt...but strangely enough it wasn't. It was actually embarrassing. She was actually embarrassed that Harley had seen her so weak.

Estelle didn't like that feeling. She did what she did best and pushed any dislike feelings away. Even with doing that she knew there was no use in lying to Harley about what she saw with her own eyes. Hopefully if she fessed up she'd keep what she saw to herself. "Fine." The dark haired girl started off saying, somber. Her voice was just as low as Harley's had been. "It's just I've never done one that big before." She reluctantly admitted to the platinum blonde.

Now Estelle had no idea what Harley's response was going to be but she certainly wasn't expecting the bubbly reply she got. Perhaps she should have expected it...after all this was Harley Quinn she was conversing with.

Harley's lips curled upwards, mischievously. "Hehe, that's what she said!" Her voice wasn't as low as before but it wasn't loud enough to attract the others' attention. Things between them still remained.

After processing what Harley said in disbelief, Estelle immediately glared at her due to her childish antics.

Seeing her bestie's expression made Harley sober up a little. "All jokes aside, maybe you should take a rest."

"I don't need rest." Estelle once again dismissed. Although she couldn't help but find her suggestion to be caring. Estelle wanted to believe Harley was being genuine but she remembered reading her file and how she shouldn't let her guard down when around her. However, she was finding keeping her walls up twenty-four seven to be quite the challenge. The Queen of Gotham had a skill of getting under her skin.

"You know Stella, you're more bolshie than I originally thought." Harley randomly ended up telling her.

Estelle knew what that meant and she wasn't very keen with being identified as that. "Excuse me? I don't"

"I find that very attractive in a woman." Harley cut her off swiftly with a dazzling smile.

Estelle felt her stomach do a twist. She was left a bit bewildered by what Harley just said and that really got to her. For a brief second there she felt warmth invade her cheeks but she quickly disregarded that possibility. She just shook her head and looked away from Harley. The Queen of Gotham was not at all through with talking to her.

"So, since we're already having this lovely conversation, why don't you tell me more about your powers?" Harley asked brightly. "How come you get tired if you use it the way you did when you created the force field around the chopper, but not when you hurt the Aussie?" The memory of that caused Harley to giggle. She was sure going to share that with her Puddin' once he came for her.

Unknown to Harley, Estelle also had a need to giggle from remembering her telling off Captain Boomerang. However, she kept her amusement to herself. Harley's question though lingered. She could just ignore her but Estelle knew that wouldn't be such a smart thing to do. Especially when she had the whole nosebleed information over her. Estelle decided to try to explain it to Harley the same way she had explained it to Barry when she first met him. "Think of it like a muscle. The more I use it the more stronger I get."

"Well, then why not use them all the time?" Harley asked, thoroughly intrigued. It really wasn't everyday when she got to talk to a metahuman about their abilities. The fact that it was with Stella made it even better.

"Because I don't need to." Estelle answered rather annoyedly.

Harley remained persistent with her questioning. "But why?" If Harley had the luck of having Stella's powers, the Queen of Gotham would have been a force to be reckoned with. Not that she wasn't already because she was. Except having metahuman powers would have made her stronger and feared.

"Because I want to live a normal life." Estelle earnestly told her.

Harley scoffed, playfully. "Silly, Stella. You're not normal. Besides, why would you want to be normal?" The platinum blonde asked, looking slightly grossed out from asking that. She scrunched up her face. "Normal is so boring." She sang out.

"Because I don't just have myself to think about, okay?" Estelle snapped, giving her a side glare.

Evidently this topic of conversation wasn't going well. Harley decided to change the subject. "Alright then, let's move on from talking about your powers. How about you tell me something else about yourself."

"No." Estelle right away answered. She now didn't care if this would anger Harley.

It wasn't anger that built within Harley, but rather disappointment. The Queen of Gotham pouted. "Come on, please." When Estelle remained quiet, Harley decided on something that would hopefully change her mind. "If you do, I'll tell you something about me."

That almost got Estelle to stop walking again. Except like last time she managed to get it together. Despite wanting to say no again, Estelle couldn't deny she was interested in what the Queen of Gotham had to share. She nodded her head. "Alright."

Harley looked pleased for a few seconds before a very bashful expression took over her facial features. "I can't swim." She then let out a huff, returning to her playful self again. "That's how I got caught in the first place. The good old bat caught me red handed when my Puddin' drove our car off into a river. But it's not like I'm mad at him for doing that. He was just trying to get away from Batman." Harley made an annoyed face. "Batsy is always trying to ruin our fun."

Estelle remained quiet as she took what Harley just told her. The Joker ran their car into the water just to get away from Batman? Gosh talk about a crazy move. But was it really that shocking? It was the Joker after all. But Harley couldn't swim? For a brief moment she felt relief that Harley was able to be rescued by Batman. Harley sure didn't like that because it led to her capture but if Batman hadn't gone into the water she probably would be dead by now. Thinking of Harley dying made a heart wrenching memory pop into Estelle's mind.

The dark haired girl got a far away look and it was one Harley picked on fairly quickly. She was probably going to regret sharing this with Harley but her emotions were on high right now. "My sister almost drowned once." She cleared her throat. Harley's eyes immediately connected with her own as she continued to speak. "I got there in time and pulled her out." She let out a halfhearted laugh. "It's kind of funny now that I think about it because not long afterwards she ended up saying I was a superhero for saving her. But how could I not save her?" Her voice wavered a little now. "She's my sister, and seeing her struggling in the water caused me to panic. I wasn't about to let her die."

Estelle didn't like thinking about that day. The day when her sister almost died. It had been at a neighbor's house when Estelle and her family were visiting them. Everyone had been into the conversation they were having that they had no idea that Lilly wandered off into the backyard. Estelle had been fourteen at the time and eventually she grew tired of the adult conversation that was going on. Which proved to be a good thing because she then was able to notice that Lilly wasn't there with them. It didn't take long for the teen to pinpoint where her five year old sister at the time had gone. When Estelle saw her moving rapidly in the backyard pool she didn't waste any time jumping in to get her.

Needless to say everyone had been shocked yet grateful for Estelle. Her parents thanked her profoundly but they were ashamed of themselves for not paying more attention to their youngest daughter. It really wasn't like them to do that and after that their awareness of Lilly never faltered again. Estelle ended up saving her sister that day all those years ago...but now Lilly was at risk of dying again. Only this time it wasn't because of her drowning.

"Was she okay?" Harley found herself asking. Despite not knowing Estelle's sister, she was beginning to worry over her. Now that was unusual. She didn't fight the feeling though, and instead went along with it. She liked that her bestie was opening up more with her...even if it was with emotional stuff. She knew the more emotional it was the better chance they were going to get close with one another.

Estelle nodded her head. "Yeah...she was a bit scared of water after that but I don't blame her. She grew out of the fear eventually...but not me." She told her. "It's not like I'm afraid of pools or anything...but when it comes to other large bodies of water like the ocean...now that really freaks me out." And that was the truth. Before Lilly's drowning in the pool incident, Estelle already had somewhat of a complex relationship with water but especially with the ocean. After Lilly's incident it only became worse. Her fear of going into large bodies of water, like the ocean, was as strong as her fear of going into elevators.

Harley listened to what she had to say and analyzed it. "I sense there's more for you to say about this sister of yours."

"Why do you think that?" Estelle asked, giving her a puzzled look. Her voice now was firm, as it usually was.

Harley shrugged but a smile appeared on her face. It wasn't a facetious one but rather a genuine smile. It kind of threw Estelle off with how real Harley looked. "Just my psychiatrist skills coming out of hiding." She became less playful which threw Estelle in more loops.

"Tell me more about this sister of yours."

Estelle should have ended the conversation right then and there. But it occurred to her this was the first time Harley and her were actually having an actual conversation. Harley wasn't being her jouster-self. She was an actual human being with her. And Estelle was really digging that. "She's younger than me. By nine years, and she's sick." She sorrowfully told her. "That's the only reason why I even agreed to be involved with this shit. Waller promised she'd get her the heart surgery she needs." Estelle sighed. "I'm the only person she has left. I can't fail my sister."

So that's what Waller had over her. Harley hummed. That explained a lot. It made her angry that Waller was using Estelle's sick sister as a way to get the dark haired girl to do what she wanted. Harley was no saint but even she knew never to involve kids with anything. This was something she had made abundantly clear to her Puddin'.

As Harley thought this she caught Estelle holding onto the necklace she had on. She was then able to connect the dots. "I'm guessing she's the one that gave you that necklace?" Harley guessed using her baseball bat to point at the jewelry item.

Estelle let go of the necklace that was around her neck. "Yeah. It was a gift from our parents. I'm supposed to give it to her when I return."

Harley brightened up as she lowered the baseball bat down. "And you will and then I'll get to meet that lovely sister of yours."

Estelle almost faltered her steps. She was not expecting to hear that. "Say what now?" She asked, her blue eyes wide.

Harley laughed, and it was then that Estelle realized that the meaningful moment they were having was over. Regret now was hitting her in the face.

"Yeah you gotta let me meet her! I love kids!" Harley gushed. "My Puddin' tends to find them annoying but not me. What's your sister's name?"

"I'd rather not say." Estelle lowly answered.

Harley's eyes gleamed. "Fine, don't tell me but I'll find out eventually." She let out a round of giggles. "I bet she's just as pretty as you." She smiled her usual smile once more as she quickly gave Estelle a kiss on her left cheek. Harley made a loud "muah" sound as she did this.

Needless to say Estelle was surprised by that gesture. The twenty-one year old jumped away. This was something that Deadshot and Captain Boomerang saw. Both released amused chuckles but it was obvious that Captain Boomerang found the scene to be more entertaining. The Aussie especially found the way Estelle was wiping her left cheek to get rid of Harley's red lipstick to be very funny.

When she had finished cleaning herself, Estelle was just about to tell Harley off for kissing her cheek. However, the Queen of Gotham spoke before she could.

"Hey, I just came up with a superhero name for you!" Harley announced brightly.

Estelle was still fuming but her curiosity was slowly winning. "Oh, yeah? What?" She asked, trying her best to act disinterested.

Harley jumped in place as she revealed the name. "Nova. At first I was thinking Super Nova but I think Nova alone sounds cooler."

Estelle gave her a perplexed expression. Harley became even more excited to explain why she picked that name. "Get it? Like the star because you shine just as bright as one." The platinum blonde giggled, throwing her a wink.

Despite rolling her eyes, Estelle was actually liking the name.

Not that she would ever admit that to Harley. If Estelle did that she would never hear the end of it. She made sure to give Harley a bored expression before moving forward...but of course the Queen of Gotham just joyfully followed behind her.
