*It's been quite some time since I've updated this story. I would give you some excuse like "I was busy with life", but I think this new chapter should make up for my absence. I left you on a cliffhanger last time. My bad...
Anyways, please enjoy the new chapter! Don't forget to leave a review, favorite, or follow for more content.*
A Sparrow's Tail
Previously on Switched!
"So are you ready to see who we really are underneath the mask?"
"Hey everyone. I'm Jeannette Agreste, the granddaughter of the original Ladybug."
"Wow...I didn't see this coming at all!" Mercury said, breaking the silence. "What's next, we find out that Quantic Ladybug is Bridgette Dupain-Cheng?"
"Actually..." The Quantic Kids turned around to see the girl standing there, tears streaming down her face. "I am."
"Oh my gosh..." Was all she could say before she was face-to-face with Felix Agreste.
Sparrow considered himself a man that knew almost everything about his opponents.
He would study their behavior, track their favorite locations down, and even learn where they go to hangout. He was a seasoned professional killer that made it his task to be aware of his prey at all cost.
He was not prepared to see the girl whom he had known since kindergarten standing there with a shocked expression on her face. He wasn't prepared to see the guy who he claimed to be his rival in every way stand right in front of her. He wasn't prepared to see how many Ladybugs that roamed the universe standing in one room while he had a mental breakdown.
Bridgette...how could you? How could you be the one person I was told to kill? The one person I confided my deepest secrets with? You were the one who killed...
"Hey Marceau, are you coming?"
A small boy with pale milky white skin looked up from his book. His long black locks covered his burnt orange eyes as he smiled at the girl standing in front of him. It always made his day when Bridgette would come and visit his family's bookstore. She would always bring his favorite Orange Blossom tea and they would chat for hours, mostly about school and life. She was energetic, constantly talking about her dreams to become a model like that Agreste boy. Speaking of Felix, that was one topic that got her rambling. It sometimes drove him crazy how much she admired his eternal school rival. He was a far better man than the monotonous blonde. Heck, he and Andre both had crushes on the bluenette even if she never noticed their advances. It was quite annoying how much she spent her time trying to win the heart of the cold senior. Maybe one day she'll realize that he isn't worth her time and try to date one of them.
Right now, he was enjoying her pouring his usual cup while they sat outside of her family's tea shop.
I only dated Kit Volpe to get closer to Bridgette.
The new Latina female student entered the class late in the year and had already made quite the impression on her classmates. She had many vibrant tales to tell and would often make up stories to gather everyone's attentions. Eventually, Bridgette exposed her for the phony that she was, making Kit apologize for all her lies. The two became great friends despite the backlash they had for each other earlier. She was introduced to the main team and instantly clicked with all of them. Javin found her endearing, Andre loved her baking, Lyra made music with her, she and Chloe shopped together, and Bridgette was like a sister to her. But as I was crushing on Brid, I never noticed how she always admired me the most. All those love letters, the constant cookies, and even the invitation to the dance that one time made me happy that she asked me.
When she asked to become my girlfriend, I leapt with joy. I would still have my crush on Bridgette on the side, but I would be the best boyfriend to Kit. She was great practice until I could muster up the courage to confess to my one true love.
Then the Quantic Alliance formed and I became Sparrow. With this new power, I was confident, cool, and level-headed when it came to fighting. Kit had received a Miraculous instead, the necklace of the Fox. A fitting choice for her shifty nature and mischievous personality. We were a team, choosing to reveal our identities to each other so we would have no secrets. The more time we were superheroes, the less time I began to think about my first love. Bridgette was out of my mind as I started to see Kit in a different light.
That all changed the night that Ladybug killed her.
All that was left of her was her Miraculous which was currently tucked away in my knapsack. I never forgave Ladybug for what happened to her and vowed vengeance against my former ally. I betrayed the Alliance, joined up with HawkMoth, and made it my mission to kill her. The next day at school everyone mourned the loss of Kit. The one hit harder than me was Bridgette herself. Her eyes were red from all the tears, her nose doing a cute sniffle. I comforted her, knowing how close the two had been. I was going to kill Ladybug for the both of us.
But seeing her right there, revealing herself to be the very person who killed Kit, I felt conflicted.
"F-F-Felix? You are Chat Noir?"
The whole room was quiet, full of shock and surprise. The Quantic Kids couldn't believe what they were seeing in front of them. The friends they had known for a long time were the superheros they had come to known and hangout with! Mercury's jaw hit the floor, Kid Mime stood there stunned, and Melodie placed her hands over her mouth. The one most shocked about this reveal was Bridgette herself. The boy she had been pinning for, the one she spent her entire school career pursuing, was the boy who nagged her on a daily basis and always wanted kisses?! Felix himself was stunned as well, knowing that his infamous stalker was the girl who was supposed to break his spell? He really did have bad luck! Of all the people in the world who could've been Ladybug, she was the one whom he was destined to love?
"Well that is quite the shocker..." Jeanette remarked, looking between the two. "Not surprising since Marinette and Adrien were sort of oblivious as well for a couple of years. You think my grandparents would recognize themselves, but that darn Miraculous magic strikes again!"
"Now is not the time or place to make quips Jean..." RoboTikki sighed, shaking her head.
"What an unexpected turn of events!" Marie squealed, blushing lightly. "It's like those two were made for each other!"
"How wrong you might be on this one Petite Bug." Marion said, seeing the looks on the couple's face. "I've seen those eyes before. That's the look of betrayal and disbelief."
Bridgette promptly walked forward towards Felix, her face hidden under her bangs. Felix didn't have time to dodge as she raised her hand and slapped him right across the face. Tears rolled down her face as her bangs formed angry marks on her forehead.
"I've had the biggest crush on you for the longest time and you've never shown affection towards me once. All the while I never have up hope that one day you might show some sort of affection towards me! Now you mean to tell me that you were the one trying to do some perverted things to me as Chat Noir!?" She slapped him across the face again, red marks forming where she slapped him. "I can't believe you have the audacity to accuse me of lying and betraying you when you've been leading me on for years now! If anything, I should be the one claiming that! I have the right mind to slap you one more time!"
Felix held his cheeks, stunned at the way she was acting. Tikki Prime watched from the corner of the room, her eyes wide with shock too. She had never seen Bridgette act like this before when she read the files. This was a new side of Quantic Ladybug she had never seen before.
Bridgette threw up her hands, disgusted. "You know what, I give up. No more of this nonsense or craziness for me! I've had it trying to be the one that tries to please everyone and gets nothing in return. Lucky Ladybug, I think not!" She tugged on her earrings, sucking Tikki inside them as she slammed them down on the table. "All I want to do now is return home and forget everything that has happened these past years. Forget the Quantic Alliance, forget HawkMoth, and especially forget Ladybug because I'm done! I've been battered, bruised, and heartbroken to the point that I've had enough of this bullcrap! So thanks Tikki Prime, but you're going to have to count me out of your little Ladybug get together!"
And with that, she left the room. No one spoke a word as they watched her warp back to the Quantic Universe.
Bridgette is heartbroken and quits being Ladybug! How will this affect the team dynamic? Will the others convince her to return? Tune in next time for more!
