Vanessa was deathly quiet and worrying about how her impulsive loudness got Cindy into trouble. Would she and Angel get kicked out? Suddenly, she heard footsteps!
It reminded her of the scene where Lady Tremaine went upstairs to lock Cinderella in her room!
She was sweating badly and when she heard the click of the doorknob, she exclaimed "Eep!"
Cindy said "Relax, it's just me."
"Whew. Don't scare me like that. Are you ok? Did you get in trouble?"
"Don't worry. I just told them I had the T.V. on. Now... We were talking about something earlier."
"Oh fine~. There is a guy, but to tell you the truth. I don't think he feels the same way about me… He and I…We're just friends. He already has someone in his heart, and it's not me. He and I… We can't be together. I just…I just hope he's happy."
"Oh, Vanessa…"
"But, that doesn't mean you and Charles can't be together!"
"I don't know... He's in the same grade as me but we only bumped into each other occasionally and spoken once or twice. Besides, how can you be sure your friend can't change how he feels for you? You seem like you care a lot about him."
"Because…" Vanessa thought that this would be easier if Cindy knew she was a "witch who knew everything." Then, suddenly a lightbulb appeared over Vanessa's head. "I'm…Your guardian angel. And so is Angel."
"I have a guardian angel named Angel?"
"Um…God thought there was no better name for her than Angel."
Vanessa thought "Oh God, Buddha, please forgive me."
Cindy raised a brow and Vanessa said "You don't believe me? Look."
She used her powers to remove a pillow from Cindy's bed and sent it flying towards Cindy's chest.
"Wow Vanessa, you really are an angel!"
Vanessa couldn't help smiling and putting her hands on her hips.
"But where are your wings?"
"Uh...When we enter the human world, we have to lose our angel forms and go in disguise."
"Oh. So, that friend you mentioned is an angel too?"
"Um...Yeah..." Vanessa thought "More like a demon."
"So, he's in love with another angel?"
"Yeah. A really pretty high-ranking angel." Vanessa thought of Kikyo as she continued to lie.
"Oh, Vanessa. But, are they together?"
"Um...Not really. Uh...I guess they can't, but they still care for each other?"
"Then you have a chance! She's high-ranking, right? What rank is he? Is he a guardian angel like you?"
Vanessa blushed and agreed to Cindy's statement.
"Then you still have a chance!"
"Um...Never mind about me, you should worry about getting your chance with Charles."
Cindy's demeanor instantly changed as she made it clear that she was too scared to approach Charles and strike a conversation with him on purpose.
Vanessa told Cindy that if she didn't gather her courage, Charles would continue to not know who she is.
"But...Maybe, it's too late now."
"Then, you've gotta make a move now! Where is he? Do you have his number? Anything?"
Cindy stated that she didn't have anything to contact him then said "Oh, I do know..." Her face turned a shade of pink.
"What is it? Spit it out."
"Um. I know he's going to prom."
Vanessa encouraged Cindy to go so she can make a good impression on Charles. But Cindy said she couldn't because she was the one watching the house.
Vanessa vaguely recalled that Cindy said that and asked her if her sisters were going to prom.
"Yes. They just left, and my mother went to Mr. and Mrs. Duke's party."
Vanessa was shocked and was about to ask her but paused. If she asked Cindy when the family left, it would blow her cover. She simply stated that she didn't think it was fair that Cindy had to watch the house alone.
"But, I'm the only one they can trust to watch the house."
Vanessa was frustrated but then she realized, this must've been another effect of the distortion. In the movie, Cinderella wanted to go to the ball and the current situation was the opposite?
"...That's no excuse, prom is something you only experience once in a life time. ...You're in 12th grade, right?" Vanessa sweat-dropped. Hopefully, she guessed it right otherwise Cindy would get suspicious.
Luckily, her guess was correct.
Vanessa said "Then, it is the last time for you to go to prom Cindy. If you miss it, you can never take it back."
Cindy said that watching the house was more important and that she didn't have anything to wear. Vanessa got upset and rummaged through Cindy's closet. Despite Cindy's protests, Vanessa kept on looking until she found a dress that looked prom-worthy.
When she held it out, Cindy got upset and Angel couldn't take the noise anymore. Luckily, she got plenty of sleep. When she asked Vanessa what was going on, Vanessa explained the situation and Angel helped Vanessa to argue that Cindy should go to prom.
After a bit more arguing and compromise, Cindy finally gave in. As long they locked everything, set the alarm, help Cindy avoid her stepsisters, and got her home before midnight, Cindy would be fine. It wasn't as if the girl didn't know how to drive.
Then, a loud clock bell rang at 5:00. Cindy had a blank look as if she was hypnotized by the sound then she changed her mind about going to prom. Vanessa and Angel looked at each other. What happened to her?
Luna mewed at Angel then Angel learned that Luna thought it was the clock bell that changed Cindy's mind. But to Luna's disappointment, no one went to investigate the clock bell and went back to try to convince Cindy to go to prom.
It didn't take long until Cindy received a phone call from a friend that she was missing out because Charles looked great in his tux. Thanks to that, Cindy finally gathered the courage to leave. It made Vanessa wish that she used Charles for her argument.
Fortunately, the moment they stepped outside to lock the house, Cindy's godmother appeared! She offered to watch the house and hoped the three of them had a good time.
While Cindy was ready to go, Angel and Vanessa didn't even have dresses, so she drove them over to Asian Garden Mall. Who knew Cinderella's world was distorted to look like Westminster?
