Thomas laid in bed thinking of earlier. After walking Lady home, she had kissed him on the cheek, something she had never done before. Lately, Lady had been acting a lot different around Thomas, being more friendly and flirting more. For Thomas, he began to suspect that Lady had a crush on him, but was still too afraid to ask her out.

He was about to take a quick nap when his two younger twin sisters, Annie and Clarabel, ran into his room and tackled him.

"Thomas!" they exclaimed, happy to see their older brother. Thomas could only grunt as the two tackled him. It wasn't that they were heavy. It was more of the fact that both of them would just randomly jump on him in excitement. As they got off, Thomas began to speak.

"Could you two not do that all the time?" he asked. Every time they saw Thomas, they would do this. Even in public in front of his friends.

"Sorry," Annie said. "We just wanted to let you know that Mom says dinner is ready. And we have a few guests."

"OK," Thomas replied, getting off the bed and walking downstairs. When he got down there, he saw the American exchange students sitting there waiting.

"Let me guess," Thomas began. "Alvin tried to cook and ruined the kitchen."

"Nope," Dan replied. "Somehow he burned the drinks and almost caught the couch on fire."

"No idea how that happened," Jamie interjected. "Something always happens when he cooks. Matt here only burnt one thing and that was a cake, but that was also Al's fault."

"I'm sorry, OK?!" Alvin exclaimed, getting annoyed from the others blaming him.

"That's enough boys," Thomas's mother said, bringing out some of the food. "The last thing we need is an argument at the dinner table."

Everyone sat down and ate their food. Dan and Alvin were still giving each other dirty looks from earlier, but Matt had kept them under control by having his eyes turn yellow.

"So," Thomas's mother began. "How was school today?"

"We had fun," Annie and Clarabel answered at the same time. "We passed our spelling test."

"That's wonderful," their mother replied. "What about you, Thomas?"

"Nothing much," Thomas replied. "Just trying to figure out which line I'm going to work for. Part of me thinks I should try to work the mainline, but the Ffarquhar Branch Line is close to home and I know the route."

"What does your gut say?" Jamie asked. Thomas just pondered for a minute.

"My gut says stay closer to home," Thomas said, not missing the smirks on the four.

"You sure it ain't a certain lady friend of yours that's influencing your decision?" Daniel asked. Thomas could only blush, sputtering out what words he could. "We knew it. Ask her out already man!"

"Cause I'm worried about her rejecting me," Thomas began. "I mean, she's the most beautiful girl in school and just about every guy is after her. What chance do I even have."

This had been the case for the past few months. Thomas had finally admitted to himself that he had feelings for Lady, but whenever he gathered up the courage to ask her out, another student, usually Alvin, would go up to her and start to flirt with her. This resulted in Darth appearing from behind Alvin and dragging him away by the ear and Thomas walking to class, still believing that he had no chance with Lady.

Unknown to him, Lady had seen Thomas walk away, his face looking at the ground. Many times this would result in him running into either Gordon or Henry, both of whom told him to watch where he was going. Thomas would apologize before walking to class, not wanting to see anyone.

"Thomas,' Darth began. "I'm going to give you some friendly advice. When I was about to ask my girlfriend out, I was nervous that she would say no. I was short tempered, I'm overweight, and a band geek. It was thanks to my other friends that I was able to get the courage to finally ask her and so far, everything has been perfect."

"Let's not forget that you did save her from that mugger," Jamie added. "And you've walked her home every day after when you made that promise to her dad to be there with her to protect her from any more muggers."

"I know you guys are right, but I don't know what to do." Thomas replied. The others began to think of something, hoping to help their friend.

It was soon time for the four Americans to go. As they bid Thomas's family goodbye, Daniel slipped something into Thomas's hand. After they left, Thomas went upstairs to read the note.

'Just take the chance. You'll never know unless you try.'

Thomas sighed and picked up his phone and dialed a certain number.

*Meanwhile*

Lady was looking at the stars, watching as they shown in the night sky. It was at that moment, that the phone in her room began to ring.

"Hello," she said.

"Hey Lady," Thomas said.

"Hi Thomas," Lady replied. "Is everything alright? You sound nervous."

"I'm fine," Thomas answered. "I was just wanting to ask you something."

As soon as those words left Thomas's lips, Lady's breath was caught in her throat.

"What is it?" Lady asked, not trying to sound too excited.

"I was wondering if maybe," Thomas began. "If maybe you weren't too busy, if you would maybe want to go to the dance with me?"

Lady was soon speechless. She had been hoping Thomas would ask her, but she never thought that he would, since he was shy at times.

"Lady, you there?" Thomas asked, getting worried.

"Of course I'll go to the dance with you!" Lady exclaimed. "I'll need to go get me a dress this weekend. We'll talk about the dance on Monday. Goodnight."

"OK," Thomas said. "Goodnight." As soon as the phone was hung up, Lady went to her picture of her and Thomas and smiled, holding it close to her chest.

"Maybe now I'll get the chance," Lady said, going downstairs to tell her dad the news.
