Sorry for the delay and for how fast-paced this chapter is!

Stefan, Elena, and I decided together that it would be best if Vicki was compelled to go away. Damon was unpredictable and since he enjoyed their game of cat and mouse so much, we figured that she should leave town. The three of us had also decided that it would be best if Jeremy didn't know where she had gone. The part she played in his life was so negative and toxic, I think it had to be done.

Stefan compelled her to go to Columbus, Ohio, and Matt not to tell anyone where she was going. Unfortunately, this caused the police to worry that something had happened to her so all of us were called to Sheriff Forbes' office to answer some questions

"Where did Vicki say she was going?" Sheriff Forbes asked me. Up until this point in my time in Mystic Falls, all she had been to me was "Caroline's Mom".

"If she told anyone, it wouldn't be me. She and I were never really close." I said sadly.

"According to Stefan, Elena, Matt, and Jeremy you did see her in those last few days, did you notice anything different about her?" Sheriff Forbes asked.

I shook my head.

"The only couple times that I saw her she was her normal self and I only talked to her to see what was going on because I was worried about her influence on Jeremy." I sighed.

"What kind of influence are we talking about here?" Sheriff Forbes asked suspiciously.

I blinked. Oh no, did she think that by influence I meant compulsion?

"You know, a pretty, older girl was interested in him. If I was in a similar situation at his age, I would have been wrapped around that upperclassman's finger." I laughed softly.

"Any signs of aggression or violence?"

"Uh, no."

"So you believe Vicki really has left town?" She asked and I nodded.

"I think she probably wanted a fresh start. I mean, I know I do." I muttered and Sheriff Forbes' eyes studied me with pity. Grayson and Miranda Gilbert had been her friends too.

"That'll be all, Alexa. Thank you." She said softly. I nodded and left her office, meeting Elena, Jenna, and Jeremy in the hall.

"You okay?" Jenna asked as they all stood.

"Yeah." I sighed.

Outside, Stefan was waiting for Elena. "I'll meet you guys at the car." She said to us.

"Okay." Jenna said and the three of us walked to the car in silence. Elena got in the car a couple of minutes later looking downcast and upon seeing my questioning look, she shot me one which told me that we would talk about it at home.

Despite the somber mood in the car, I couldn't help but feel happy. Because I was here, in this crazy world, Vicki didn't die and now she had a fighting chance at a life for herself.

When we got home, I followed Elena to her room and shut the door, sitting on her bed.

"What happened?" I asked.

"It just sucks, you know? Everything was so simple before I knew that there were vampires or that my boyfriend was one." Elena flopped down onto the bed and stared at the ceiling.

"Yeah, but look at the bright side! Vicki is safe and hopefully, Jeremy will start to realize how much better life is without all the drugs he's been taking." I said optimistically.

"I hope you're right." She sighed before kicking me out to work on homework.

Because Vicki never became a vampire, Halloween went off without a hitch. Caroline and Bonnie were witches, while I opted for a comfy, yet cute, bat costume. No, it wasn't a vampire bat, at least, I don't think it was. If anyone asked, I made it very clear that I was a fruit bat.

A week later, Elena and I sat on opposite ends of the couch while Jeremy sat at the table behind us, working on… something. To be honest, I wasn't paying too much attention to my younger siblings as I was extremely focused on the Friends re-run I was watching. Jenna came into the room and sat between Elena and me.

"You're wallowing." Jenna leaned against Elena.

"So are you." Elena sighed in response.

"My wallow is legitimate. I was dumped." Jenna complained.

"Yeah. Well, Logan's a jerk." Elena said.

"Agreed." I chirped and tuned them out, Phoebe was having the triplets! I only managed to stay tuned out for a few seconds before I heard Jeremy say that he was doing homework. My head whipped over to give Elena an "I told you so!" look before we looked back at him.

"Since when do you do homework?" Elena asked skeptically.

"I gotta finish this. I'm way behind and I have a quiz tomorrow so…" He trailed off, focusing on his homework. Elena and Jenna shared a confused look before glancing my way and seeing my smug smile.

"What do you think? Alien?" Elena asked Jenna and I.

"Some sort of replicant." Jenna mused.

"He can hear you." Jeremy said, annoyed.

"He," I scurried over to him. "Is growing up," I quickly kissed him on the head before dancing out of the way of his attempt to swat me. "Kind of." I sniffed before sitting back down on the couch.

The next day, I heard a knock on my door. "Come in!" I called, closing all the windows on my laptop. I didn't need anyone seeing my search history about the supernatural.

"Hi." I heard Bonnie say from behind me and I spun around, grinning.

"Hey, hot stuff. What're you doing in this neck of the woods?" I asked.

"Is Elena home? I've been trying to reach her and her door is locked." Bonnie said shyly.

"Yeah, she's in bed moping." I glanced at the clock by my bed and saw that it was half-past eleven. "But that's no way to spend the day!" I grabbed a pen from my desk and motioned for Bonnie to follow me. At Elena's door, I pushed the pen into the lock and heard a click before swinging the door open.

"You up?" Bonnie asked Elena who immediately began to protest, trying to dive under the covers. Both Bonnie and I grabbed the covers off her.

"Why haven't you called me back?" Bonnie sat on the bed.

"I'm sorry." Elena sighed a bit unapologetically.

"Are you going to stay in there forever?" Bonnie asked. Elena thought for a moment.

"Yep."

"Move over." Bonnie smiled softly. Elena scooted towards the middle so that Bonnie and I could get in. "I'm officially worried. What's going on?"

"I'm tired of thinking...of talking-" Elena struggled to find the words to say.

"Can I get a one-line version so I can at least pretend to be helpful?" Bonnie joked.

"Stefan and I broke up." Elena said.

"I'm so sorry. Are you okay? Right stupid question. I know I've been kind of MIA when you need me the most. I suck."

"No you don't, you're fine!" I said reassuringly.

"You wanna make it up to me. Get my mind off of it." Elena said, at which Bonnie's eye lit up.

"Just remember you asked for it." Bonnie chirped and hopped out of bed, to close the window before grabbing one of Elena's pillows.

"What are you-" I began to ask when she suddenly ripped open the pillow with a nail file (earning a "Hey!" from Elena and I) and shaking all the feathers onto Elena's bed.

"Uh, be patient?" Bonnie smiled assuringly at us, and knowing where this was heading, I struggled to keep a confused expression on my face. I mean, how could I? I was about to witness magic, real magic, for the first time!

"Okay…" Elena observed as Bonnie sat on the bed

"I need to swear you two to secrecy." She glanced between us.

"It's kind of a bad week for that kind of stuff." Elena said.

"Swear, 'cause I'm not supposed to be showing you this." Bonnie pleaded seriously.

"Okay, I swear." Elena shrugged.

"I swear." I said seriously.

"There's no windows open, right?" Bonnie asked.

"Right." Elena and I said

"There's no fan. No air conditioning." Bonnie stressed.

"None. What are you doing?" Elena asked, confused and almost a little annoyed.

"Grams just showed me this. You're gonna love it. You ready?" Bonnie beamed. We nodded in response.

She smiled at us once more before using her hand to levitate a feather! My mouth dropped open and Elena and I watched as Bonnie directed the feather back onto the pile.

"Bonnie, what's going on?" Elena asked in bewilderment.

Bonnie then levitated several more. And Elena gasped, breaking into an amazed smile. Then, without using her hands, dozens of feathers began to float around the room. Elena and I laughed in wonder, watching the feathers.

"It's true Elena. Everything my Grams told me. It's impossible, but it's true. I'm a witch." Bonnie said softly. Elena and I glanced at each other.

"We believe you." We said together.

Gahhh! If all of you got a nickel for how many times I have said that there would be an update coming up and there wasn't, you would, as a group, be very wealthy. This time, however, I have a very valid reason. I know I don't talk about my personal life here, but I feel like I owe you all an explanation. For starters, I was very busy with school and a week before finals, one of my family friends killed himself. I somehow managed to get through that last week of school, but ever since then, I've been a complete wreck. He was only 23 and went to a very prestigious school. Our families spent practically every weekend together in the winters for years and years, and for several of those early years, I was in love with him. I'm still not okay and have been really struggling to do a lot of important things, but every day gets a little bit better. It was also just a shitty year because one of my other 23-year-old family friends was shot and killed by police (the police were called by his mother while he was going through a schizoaffective episode). The one who was killed by police was wrongly killed and I have been helping out where I can to be there for the family. We also put one of my cats down... suffice to say, 2019 was a shitshow and my mental health went down the drain.

Well, enough about me, let's get to this awful chapter. Part of the reason it took me this long to write this chapter was because some of these episodes are filler episodes and I spend a lot of time trying to bring Alexa into the story in a well-written way while also trying to further the plots I have in mind. Please just bear with me during these crappy chapters, because I have a lot planned. Also, I haven't updated my other Alexa story because I realized that there would be a ton of spoilers in it.

As always, I love hearing from you guys. It really means a lot to me to see how invested you guys are in this story and in the future, if it has been a while since I have updated, you are welcome to send me a message telling me to muster up some motivation and give you guys some new content.
