Hi everyone ^^

It's been a veeeery long time since I updated…I know…sorry for that…buuut as you can see I haven't abounded the story just yet. With this chapter the first part of this story ends and to be honest I'm already excited for the next part, because the second part won't be following the movie like the first one. This chapter is slightly different to keep the shock effect in it because the twist is finally happening in this part. Thank you so much for reading this story. I really appreciate everything you guys do to show the support. Hope you enjoy this chapter even if it's slightly different than the usual chapters. Thank you~ ^^

Something wasn't right. The sun has already risen as Dr. Cullen and his adopted children lead James and his mate through the woods, further and further away from the actual path that Bella took.

It was a good plan but still...something wasn't right. Something was missing.

Edward sped with Rosalie through the woods, while Carlisle and Emmett were supposed to lead the redhead onto another path. Edward stops for a second to read James mind while Rosalie tore a tiny swatch of her shirt off to leave it on a flowering maple tree. Just as they were about to continue up their path Edward halted.

"No…" he mumbled as he looked back from where they came.

"What is it?"

"Something isn't right. His thoughts…he is hiding something…he knows that this is just to lead him away. His mate…the redhead is not following as planned. Call Emmett!" He announced while starting to run back. Rosalie took out her phone from her jeans pocket and dialed her mates' number.

"Something isn't right. Edward started to run back…" She announced without waiting for Emmett to even greet her.

"Isn't James following anymore?" It was Carlisle's voice that came through the device.

"I don't know. Let's meet from where we started." She hung up again and continued to follow Edward.

When they reached their cars Carlisle stepped towards Edward: "What is happening? What did you hear?"

Edward shook his head: "He was following us, telling us to run until there was nothing. He must have baited us."

"What do you mean 'baited us' what is he up to?" Just as Carlisle asked once again, his phone started to ring.

A bit hesitant he got his phone out, maybe it was Genesis…but it wasn't.

"Alice? What is it? Is everything alright?"

"Carlisle…something happened. I didn't see it coming…I'm…"

She suddenly got silent which was very untypical for the doctor's youngest daughter: "Alice? Tell me! Is Bella alright…what is happening?"

"You guys need to come to Phoenix as soon as you can. Don't go home…just hurry. I will send you the address."

And then she hung up. Carlisle looked at his phone in mild shock. Alice never behaved like that…

"Let's go!" Edward announced before he sat into the car starting the motor.

(Int. Scottdale Hotel)

Bella startled awake in an unfamiliar bedroom. She was on a very soft bed fully clothed as she looked around. The blinds were pulled closed, creating a dark atmosphere in the room. She looked around before she decided to stand up and walk out of the room. Her eyes immediately came to rest on a blankly staring Alice which was sitting on a couch. Where was Jasper? It was not until Bella closed the door behind her that Alice finally looked towards her.

"You should eat." She announced while pointing at several plates that were in front of her on the small living room table.

With a heavy sigh Bella sat beside Alice: "Where is Jasper?" She asked looking towards the food and deciding that her stomach couldn't manage the food right now.

Alice her face was unusually stoic as she tried to give Bella a smile: "Oh, he is on an errand. He'll be back."

Bella went through her hair with her hand before she started to bite off the skin beside her thumbnail: "They could get hurt. It's not worth it." Her hand fell to her lap while she shook her head in frustration.

"Edward is the family that I never had, and I love him very much for it. If something happened to you…I would never be able to look into his eyes again, so it is worth it, Bella."

Suddenly Alice eyes go blank and her eyebrows start to furrow. She lets out a worrisome gasp: "The tracker…he changed the course."

Bella sat up, panic rising inside of her: "Where is he going? What do you see?"

"Mirrors, it's a room of mirrors." Alice tried to focus to see more clearly: "There is a small room where VCRs are kept…the mirror-room has several columns and a ballet bar…"

Suddenly Alice gasped before she pulled herself out of the vision as if she was not being able to take the sighed anymore. Her eyes were full of panic as she looked at Bella: "Do you know a room like that? Have you been there?"

"Gen and I used to take ballet lessons as kids. The room sounds like it might be one of the rooms we trained in."

"The school was in Phoenix?" Alice stood up while taking out her phone.

"Yeah, around the corner from my house. But I haven't been there in ten years."

Alice eyebrows furrowed again before she started to deal a number on her phone: "I'll be right back I need to call Jasper. Stay here!"

It was very eerie to see Alice behave like that. It sent shivers down Bella's spine. Bella jumped when she suddenly hears her phone ringing. She immediately got it out of her jeans-back pocket and exhaled in relief when she saw Edwards number blinking up: "Edward? Are you alright?" She asked without greeting him first.

"I'm coming to get you. We…we lost the tracker…and the woman. I'm sorry."

"This is my fault. You warned me, but I didn't think. I just…"

"Bella, we're in too deep. We can't change how we feel…"

Bella bit her lip as she admitted to herself that Edward was right before she answered him: "No…we can't. When will you get here?"

"In a couple hours. Then you and I will go somewhere...together. The others will keep hunting…" He stopped as if he had to encourage himself before he continued talking: "Bella, I swear to you, I'll do whatever it takes to make you safe again."

Bella's started to tear up: „Is Gen okay?"

Suddenly everything went quiet and Bella felt like she waited an eternity for an answer. It was until Edward sighed out and gave away a nearly inaudible 'yes' that she calmed herself again. Without saying anything else he hung up and Bella started to gather her stuff to prepare herself to leave when suddenly her phone rings again. She startled when she reached for it once more. Maybe it was Edward again or maybe her parents…but when the caller ID showed her sister's name she sighed out in relieve and answers.

"Gen…" before she could continue an ear piercing scream shuddered her to her core. The screaming continued on and on before Bella screamed right back into the phone: "Gen!? What is going on?! Answer me?!"

But only the screams of pure agony were audible. Bella started to tremble in fear as she held the phone to her ear. Tears started to build up once again and when she couldn't take it anymore a sudden rustle on the other side of the phone prevented her from hanging up and running to get someone to help.

"You know, it is funny that I missed it the first time I saw her." It was the bone chilling voice of James. His voice was clear as day while the screams of what could only be Genesis were heard in the background. They were more muffled now, as if he went into another room to be able to talk to Bella.

"What did you do to her?! I swear to…" Bella's voice was trembling as she tried to threaten him. She couldn't recall if she ever was so scared in her life before. Not scared for herself…no…scared for the only person in the world that never abandoned her.

"Her eyes were a darker shade than yours when she looked at me with those threatening eyes. I thought nothing of it. She was protecting you and having you so close to her with your delicious smell…any vampire would have had that kind of dark shade in their eyes."

Bella's hand went to her mouth as she tried not to sob openly into the phone, while she listened to Genesis screaming in the background.

"I must say, Forks High School doesn't protect its student's privacy very well. It was too easy for Victoria to find your information's…including the information that you have a sister very…very close to you."

"Please…Leave my sister alone. She just tried to protect me…"

Her voice wasn't as strong as she wanted it to be. At one point she doubted that he didn't even hear her properly…with or without vampire-hearing.

"Are you ready to protect her with your own life?"

Bella didn't even hesitate. She was terrified, but there was no other choice here. It was Genesis…

"Where should I meet you?" She asked now with determination. The trembling in her voice now diminished.

"The old ballet studio around the corner…and I'll know if you bring anyone along." She listened as James started to move and Genesis's screams grew louder and louder.

"You wouldn't want your poor sister to vanish, would you?"

In a panic she hangs up and starts to fling every drawer open she can reach. Somewhere has to be something that she could use as a weapon, right? RIGHT?

Then she remembers…her purse. Charlie gave her a pepper spray…

She gets the purse and sighs in relieve as she grabs it. It was her only protection now, maybe it was useless but it was something…

Bella walks to the lobby where she scans for any sign of Alice or Jasper. It didn't take her long to spot Alice loading the Mercedes, now and then coming to a halt and letting her eyes gloss over by a vision. Bella had to keep herself back from running towards Alice and asking her what was happening. Before she could change her mind she runs out the opposite door, so Alice wouldn't see her and rushes towards a Taxi.

"8th and Palo Verde, please!" She announced to the taxi driver as soon as she started to get in. Her heart was hammering as the Taxi started to move. This was happening. This could be the last memories of her life, but dying in the place of someone she loves, seemed like a good way to go…

It didn't take long until she reached the ballet school. It was when the Taxi left her right in front of it, that she realized what all those decisions she made in those past few weeks brought her to and yet she couldn't regret those decisions.

She slips the pepper spray into her jeans pocket, but keeps her hand inside it with a tight grip on it. Bella steps closer to the abounded school. She tries to peer through the windows but the blinds were drawn. With another sigh she started to open the door and there it was. It hit her like a wave hit the shores. The screams of pure agony.

She runs inside in a frantic. Her eyes trying to look for the source but the school was made for dance classes and the screams bounced back from every corner of the building. She starts to walk further and further into it until the screams got louder. For a second she wanted to cover her ears to get rid of the screams.

"Genny?! GEN!?" she tried to scream as loud as she could to overpower the screams of her sister so her sister could hear her.

It wasn't until she saw something…or rather someone lying on the ground, right in front of the huge mirrors that covered the ballet room, withering in pain.

Bella couldn't help herself but run towards the source of screaming. Until the last second she hoped that she was wrong. She hoped that James was playing some evil tricks on her and it was just an audio of some other person screaming, but when she saw her sister's hair and finally her sister's face, it was like something inside her broke. Bella ran towards her sister and let herself fall onto her knees right beside Genesis. She tried to look for any source of pain. She could see that her sister had a big gash on her forehead. Her arm was at an odd angle and her leg seemed to have suffered a similar injury: "Genesis, I'm here. Everything is going to be okay. I'll get help." But Genesis didn't response at all.

"There is nothing you could do to help her." A dark male voice suddenly announced right behind her. Bella turned around and came face to face with James smirking face.

"What did you do?" It was pure anger that she had now. She didn't care if she said something wrong or did something wrong…she was angry! He did this! He did this to Genesis! She thought as her face flushed with rage…

"I have to admit, I'm a little bit disappointed. It wasn't the smartest move to leave her behind wasn't it? I hoped that it would be more of a challenge but she was right there…" Before he could finish the sentence Bella got her pepper spray out and sprayed it right into his eyes. It took James by surprise and Bella took that opportunity to run. Of course she wanted to take Genesis with her but she could never outrun James with Genesis. Maybe if she could get help…IF she made it out of this building at all…

She was just about to reach the doors when he suddenly lands right in front of her. His face held amusement before he flings her across the floor like a bowling ball. Bella smashes right into the mirrored column.

"Beautiful! Very visually dynamic, I should have filmed it!"

He advances towards her once more: "What makes you so special?...tell me! Because frankly, I don't see it." He inhales her scent as his face was mere inches from hers.

"Too bad he didn't turn you. All of this could have been avoided. Instead he kept you this fragile little human. It's cruel, really. I was friendly enough to help with your sister, he only had to bite you once…a nibble nothing more…"

Suddenly it dawned on Bella. It wasn't the injuries that made Genesis scream in pure agony…no. Genesis…she was turning.

"NO!" Bella screamed out before she tried to kick James right between his legs.

It didn't do any harm to him but he was surprised once more…but not for the better…no…

"Well done! You've succeeded in annoying me."

He stomps on her shin and a harsh 'snap' followed Genesis's screams, before Bella screamed out in pain as well.

At this point Bella was battling to stay awake. The broken bone was sticking out of her skin making blood pool out of it. James leaned in as soon as he smelled the blood and he inhaled it with a satisfied smile. Hungrily he came closer and closer before a sudden force knocks him away from Bella. Surprised he looked at whatever it could have been to find Edward staring right at him with an angry face. Edward was seething. All the blood around him and the screams…he nearly couldn't focus and James took this opportunity to charge at Edward, forcing him up against a column.

"You're alone, because you're faster than the others…but not stronger."

James smashes Edward's face into the mirror making the mirror crack.

"I'm strong enough to kill you." Edward seethed through gritted teeth. He flings James backwards going right through a freestanding mirror and into the doorway. It was clear that James needed time to recover and Edward couldn't hesitate. He scooped Bella up and was just about to leap towards the balcony exit door when suddenly a grip on his leg jerked them downwards.

The yank was so violent that Edward made a harsh impact with the floor as he let go of Bella. James didn't wait long for Edward to come to his senses when he already flings Edward up into the top window, embedding Edward in the casement and bricks.

James stalks towards Bella as she whimpered in pain. It was pure chaos…Genesis was still screaming in the background while the school was slowly taken apart by two vampires. James crouches down to Bella and grabs her hand. He looked towards Edward making sure that Edward was seeing this before he sinks his teeth into the soft flesh of Bella's arm. It didn't take long for Bella to once more scream alongside her sister, but this time…they screamed for the same thing. Edwards rage erupts and in a swift motion he climbs out of the window casement and dives right at James. Nothing could hold him back anymore. He savagely started to plow James through the floorboards. When James was able to throw some blows himself, Edward just came at him three times worse. It wasn't until James laid battered and beaten when Bella saw Edward bite off a junk of James flesh. Horrified and in agony she tried to look for Genesis and that's when she saw it. Dr. Cullen was right beside Genesis looking at every inch of Genesis body, before he stood up and walked over to Edward.

It took Dr. Cullen not even a second to come to stand right beside Edward as he laid a hand onto Edwards shoulder. Edward turned to see his father figure and that's when the rest of the Cullen's came dropping down from the balconies. It was over…

Edward starts to back off as his siblings crouch into attack mode and lung at James like a pack of animals.

It wasn't until Bella screamed in pain again that Edward rushed towards her.

Dr. Cullen stood there torn between what he should do. Genesis was on other side of the room screaming in pain just like Bella was and yet the circumstances were completely different. He knew which of those two he could still help and it nearly broke him. With Genesis screams in the back he started to walk towards Bella and Edward. Dr. Cullen worked fast to assess her wounds, focusing on a massive bleed from her leg, but the leg was not the reason that she was withering in pain. Dr. Cullen applied pressure to the gash on her thigh as he shook his head a bit as if he wanted to get rid of Genesis screams: "Her femoral artery's been severed. She is losing too much blood."

If he still were human, he would have broken out in cold sweat.

"It's on fire! My hand!" Bella screamed out trying to tell them what was happening.

"Venom…" Edward announced.

"You have to make a choice. Either let the change happen…" Dr. Cullen tried to elaborate the options that Edward had but Edwards face showed clear disgust and he interrupted his father figure before Dr. Cullen could continue: "NO!"

"It's going to happen. I've seen it…" A twinkling voice suddenly announced. It was Alice which came to stand behind Edward, but once again Edward interrupted his family member.

"It doesn't have to be that way."

"Alice, find me a tourniquet. A rag, a shirt…." Carlisle instructed and Alice started to hold her nose to avoid the smell of blood of entering her nostrils. She rips the sleeve off her blouse and kneels to aid Dr. Cullen.

"What's the other choice? You said…" Edward was now intently staring at Bella as he started to ask but Dr. Cullen instructed Alice to bind the peace of fabric tighter right above Bella's knee ultimately interrupting Edward this time.

"Carlisle."

Edward tried once more and Carlisle sighed before answering: "You can try to suck the venom out."

"I…won't be able to stop!"

"Find the will to stop. But choose, she only has minutes left."

Edward looks down at Bella, thrashing in pain. Finally he takes her hand where the bite was. Bella tried to pull it away but Edward soothed her with his voice: "It's alright, Bella. I'll make it go away.

He looks at her one last time before he starts to suck the venom out of her hand. Bella's screaming starts to become a low whimpering before her eyes shut close but Edward didn't stop yet.

"Stop! Her blood is clean, you're killing her"

Dr. Cullen announces while laying a hand on Edwards shoulder, but Edwards's bloodlust took over as Bella fell unconscious. It wasn't until her heart nearly didn't make any sound anymore that Edward realized what he was doing as he ripped himself off of her arm.

Shocked he looked at Bella. He nearly killed her…he nearly couldn't stop.

"Carlisle!" Alice distressed voice sounded from the back making Edward come to his senses again. He looked back seeing Alice and Rosalie holding down none other than Genesis as she withered in pain.

Carlisle's heart ripped apart when he saw her. He couldn't help her. It was too late for her. "Let's bring Bella to the hospital! Alice! Rosalie! Bring Genesis as far away as you can!" He announced before everyone leaped into action.

The first thing that Bella noticed when she started to open her eyes was that the burning sensation was finally gone. The second was that an oxygen tube was resting under her nose and she started to reach for it. A hand stopped her as her surroundings came into focus.

"You're awake, baby! You're okay!" A sobbing Renee was hovering over Bella as tears poured down her cheeks. Bella started to look around finally realizing that she was in a hospital with 'get well' cards and photo montages of her and friend from Forks on the dresser beside her.

It wasn't until she realized that she was the only patient in the room that she started to sit up: "Genesis! Where is she!?"

Frantically she asked her mother but her mother just pushed her back onto her bed: "Bella lay down please."

"Mom, where is Gen?" She asked again while her mother succeeded to push her onto the bed.

"ICU." Her mother finally answers with a sob.

Bella furrowed her eyebrows in confusion: "What do you mean? What is going on?"

Her mother sobbed as she answered: "You both had a very bad car accident. You were stuck in the car when it flung off the road." Her mother pointed to her leg and that's when Bella saw that her leg was in a cast and it looked like it was in a really bad shape.

"…but Genny…she was flung out of the car." Tears continued to stream down Rene's cheeks: "She is still in critical condition and they don't know if she'll make it. We can't see her yet."

Bella couldn't believe it. What happened when she blacked out…where was the only person that could give her answers: "Edward?" She asked and Rene leaned to the side to show a 'sleeping' Edward in the chair which stood across the room: "He is sleeping. He never left and your dad's down in the cafeteria."

Bella was silent as she processed everything that she heard so far, it wasn't until her mother's cell phone started to beep that she focused on Renee once more.

Renee looked at her cell phone for a second before she looked at Bella: "It's Phil…I need to talk to him for a second."

"Mom, you found your charger?" Bella tried to ease up the mood a bit but Renee only gave her a watery smile before she laid a hand onto Bella's cheek and went outside.

As soon as Renee stepped outside Edward stood up. He walked towards Bella and sat down right beside her before he kissed her forehead soothingly

"Where is Genny?" Bella immediately started to ask.

Edward sighed. He knew he had to tell her but it was so hard: "She is not here. Alice, Rosalie, Emmett and Jasper took her to Alaska for now."

Bella was once again ready to jump to her feet: "What?! Why?!"

"Because…we couldn't help her, Bella. She was already in full transition when we arrived…"

"You could have helped her like you helped me…" She tried to argue but Edward interrupted her.

"No, he bit her way earlier than he bit you and her body was already completely taken over by his venom."

Bella felt herself panic: "But…what do I tell my parents…What do we do?"

"As of now, Carlisle will pretend that she is in a critical condition. This can last a few days. Until then we hope that Genesis will be able to give her answer on how we should proceed."

"What do you mean 'we hope' and what are the options?" Bella's heart started to hammer faster than before.

"Sometimes people don't make it through the transition…"

"B-but Genny…she is strong. She will make it!" Edward gave her a pitiful look before he saw that there was no arguing with Bella and so he nodded: "Yes, she is very strong, so the chances are high that she makes it." Bella nodded in agreement.

"Yes, and…and maybe she can come back…maybe she can…just continue…"

No matter how hard it was for Edward to destroy her dreams he couldn't allow himself to let Bella live with the hope of seeing Genesis in a few weeks: "Bella…Genesis won't be herself when she wakes up. She will attack any human she sees. That's why we need her to wake up to make a decision…either we stage her death and make it easy on everyone or we pretend that she is in a coma and might wake up one day until she finally makes a decision."

He could see the tears in Bella's eyes building up. She didn't let go of them and yet she couldn't prevent herself from producing more and more until her vision went blurry: "How do we prevent Charlie and Renee from trying to visit Genesis while she is in a coma?"

She asked with a shaky voice.

"Carlisle has a few tricks that might help…but let's not worry about that for now. There is still time until Genesis wakes up. Until then we'll wait and you'll recover."

Bella finally started to relax as she laid back. Edward was right, there is nothing either could do for now: "What about James?"

She asked now with a calmer voice.

"We took care of him. And the woman, Victoria…she ran off."

"Will…will someone stay with Genesis in Alaska? It would be too suspicious if suddenly a bunch of your family was gone?"

Edward took Bella's hand gently: "Carlisle will soon leave and stay with her while me and the rest stays here. He will say that there is an emergency in Alaska. No one will suspect anything, just rest."

"Why Alaska? Why couldn't she just stay at your house in Forks?"

"Alaska is more isolated and we have 'cousins' there that can help with Genesis. Forks would have been…too complicated. Don't worry Bella…she is safe. We will do anything to keep her safe."

With the last assuring words from Edward, Bella let herself fall back into a slumber and even though the situation with Genesis was heartbreaking…she couldn't help herself but be relieved that Genesis was still alive…one way or another…she didn't lose her sister…and soon she would follow the path of her older sister, like she always did.
