Danny's hands covered his head as he rocked back and forth. Chains adorning his wrists. His whole body shook as another wave of pain from the earlier bruising ached. His mind expecting the pain. As helpless thoughts flooded his system. He attempted to escape again that morning.

But this time he wasn't shocked or put in the Ice box. No, it was far worse they had lined up the security dogs and made it into a blood sport. The guards must have been bored. As they chained him to a wall and the dogs were given bite commands. So his body was covered from head to toe with vicious bite marks. They were merciless as the dogs only did as their masters commanded.

The dogs had been introduced after his last attempt ended with him lost in the mountains. He almost froze to death when they found him. The endless pain caused his days and nights to merge. It got so bad he couldn't keep track of time anymore. He was tortured during the day. Only at night could he find any hope of rest. But he was in so much pain he couldn't even sleep. He was lucky to get fed once or twice a month now and given just enough water to survive barely.

He wasn't sure how much time had passed. A few months or maybe a year. He couldn't tell anymore. Day after day nothing but the same. Yet different from how he first started out. After staring at the same, grungy room, he knew every rock and crevice. Every white washed wall that existed between him and his captors. He even memorized every hole and door. But that meant nothing here. To top it off he knew at any moment now they would come for him. He just hoped the guards were in a good mood.

Spending every waking moment dreading life and every unconscious one wishing he would die. His dreams no longer provided an escape. The mess was his mind only drove him closer to insanity.

He had tried to kill himself so many many times that his body wore the scars like badges. The failures that kept him from trying again. This last time left his wrists bloody. Covering his face, he broke his mirror before it was revoked. Taking a shard and slashing his veins. But it also didn't work as he was saved. All he really managed to do was alert the guards. His punishment after getting stitched up was getting placed into the icebox. where he underwent another round of aggressive ice torture. After that last time Danny decided not to try anymore.

He resented his family. Despised his friends and to top off everything. What he wanted more then anything was to die.

"I'm a monster… A monster. I don't even deserve to breath the same air as humans. A filthy monster who knows nothing but his number…132." He growled, repeating the numbers again and again. His eyes watered as he filled with disdain. Feeling overwhelming hate for himself. Tormented and injured he dared not move from his bed any more. He couldn't even fight back anymore. He didn't have the will to even argue. The last time he tried to use his powers to escape. They ambushed him forcing him to eat an entire blood blossom. which had reacted so badly with him he thought he was finally going to die. But his body was more resilient than he thought. He spent three days just screaming, crying, and vomiting until finally it was completely out of his system.

He was so dead after that ordeal his eyes dulled with acceptance of his fate. Fear and hate being the only thing left of his old self. He locked up his feelings and told himself single-mindedly not to feel, to trust no one, to die on the inside. Soon, he started meaning the words. That was all he thought about night and day.

His body ached as he fell. Coming back from another painful experiment. He laid on the cold concrete floor not even capable of making it to his own bed anymore. He stared at the floor. Rolling over heavily. He looked at the rare clear sky watching a group of small birds fly over head. He smiled meekly wishing he could be a bird when something chirped from outside it. He looked up to see a tiny bird. Forgetting the feeling of pain only for a moment he watched the tiny sparrow as it flew in from the window landing on his tiny table. Danny looked at it for a moment and slowly forced himself up. Heading to his bed where a loose rock was. He pulled it out and grabbed a tiny piece of bread. He put aside in case of emergencies, breaking off a small portion he held out his hand to the bird. "Please take it." He weakly smiled waiting hoping it would come to him. But the small bird looked at him. Before spreading his wings and taking flight. It rushed out the window again leaving Danny standing there. "At least you can be free. I truly wish I could follow you." He muttered before a loud Bang echoed through the silence. Making Danny jump in fear before panic set in. He rushed the window in time to see the small bird fall out of the sky just outside the wall.

Danny's eyes quaked as he started to quiver. A low growl left his lips as anger poured forth. Pounding his fists against the walls. "HOW DARE YOU! IT JUST WANTED TO LIVE IN PEACE! JUST LET IT GO! IT DID NOTHING WRONG!" He screamed out all the rage of what felt like years came out all at once. He just kept pounding as hard as he could against the wall. Screaming about the poor bird as he bloodied his hands with each slam of his fist. The white wall taking on the color of his bright red blood. He took no notice of the footsteps running towards his cell no longer caring about his safety. He just screamed. Let out violent relentless waves of pain. "JUST MAKE IT STOP! WHEN WILL IT END!" He howled out as his door was opened and about six men entered grabbing and throwing him against the floor. His fruitless struggling was rewarded with a slug to his face.

Even with the blood gushing from his cut mouth all he found he could do was scream. His sanity following his consciousness as he slowly faded out. When they injected him with a tranquilizer laying him out on his bed. His shouting trailed as he passed out. "Please, make it stop, no more suffering for anyone else." He cried as a single tear dripped onto his bed.

Three days since the incident had passed. His mind no longer thought of anything. He just followed his instincts as his mind died. It was obvious he had no fight left. He had lost his eyes the day after the incident. They had said him seeing only made him a liability. But the reason the bird had died was too much for him. He snapped, losing all sense of peace. He knew his eyes would grow back. But He lived on while the poor bird had died. It was all his fault he shouldn't have even let the bird stay.

He cowered in the furthest corner whimpering quietly. "It's all my fault. I'm an abomination I never should have existed. I never should have been born. I deserve to be punished after all." He nuzzled his arm as he stared at his feet. "Yea I deserve every once of pain and torture. I can't wait to die…" He mumbled as he traced the outline of what looked like a bear trap that had opened his chest now. His heart hung for the world to see. Reaching his hand in. He mumbled. "I could end it all. Just squeeze…" But he couldn't do it. He just stared at his heart, his fingers twitching inches from it. After long seconds passed he moved his hand and sighed. "I don't even know why they don't want it to heal." He suspected it was so they could reach it easier. But truthfully it was only his working theory. The device was laced with the same material as his cuffs. So he couldn't even remove it safely.

After long hours of torture. He knew he would succumb to the blood loss soon. He leaned back on his bed and sighed. "It was only a matter of time before I'm able to welcome the sweet release of death." He was surprised to feel a smile. Pierce his chapped under moisturized lips. But for some reason the thought of feeling no more pain. Brought him comfort. Nothing that bastard Agent X could do would change that. His stomach growled slightly and Danny sighed. "No more hunger. No more torture soon it all goes away with my stupid life." His voice echoed through his head as peace overwhelmed him.

"I only have one regret." He smiled weakly, "I wonder if Sam really meant what she said… Hmm I guess now I will never know." He seemed at piece as he slowly closed his eyes for what seemed like the last time his body was getting colder as he relaxed. But just as he was passing out a loud female voice erupted through his head. "Don't give up, little colt! Don't give in! I WILL SAVE YOU!" Shouted the disembodied voice. Danny screamed as her words were so loud it hurt his head. He writhed in pain causing the guards to come and grab him. Taking him to get his wounds bandaged over again.
