UPDATED

Danny's body was assaulted with his first taste of warmth in four years. "Mmm must be dead…" He muttered with a gentle smile. He felt a wave of relief as he laid there listening to the babbling brook unable to think. The first time in ages running water echoed around him. Above the sound of the water, the songs of the local birds pierced his ears. The colorful nature brought a welcoming itch to his senses. It felt so nice. Compared to the overwhelming silence of his empty cell. He had grown so used to it. Looming silence that he had found peace in was no longer there. But he wasn't upset by it at all.

The warm sunlight scattered his outline bringing on a great feeling of laziness. The feeling lingered as he laid there for what felt like hours. But finally when he realized he still hurt his eyes popped open. With a loud obnoxious puff he groaned. "Nope… not dead."

Taking in his surroundings he groaned in pain. He was shocked by the bleeding from his nub. But the pain was tolerable; it mostly clotted to a slow stop. He whimpered at the loss of his limb. But upon staring at his limb realized something was off. Staring at his missing limb for long agonizing moments. A nice low breeze blew in his overgrown hair shifting with it. This made him realize that wasn't his skin. He reached out patting it. But when his hand came into view he was quick to realize a hoof came to view... A hoof instead of his long slender fingers. It was a hoof. All he could do was scream. "AHHHHHHHH!" His voice echoing across the whole forest. Seemingly shaking the trees as he fainted from shock.

A few minutes passed when the warmth brought him back. His memories trailed as he awoke again, blinking away the pain from the sun. His limbs sprawled in every direction as he mumbled "I-it wasn't a dream… I'm outside… and I'm a… a... horse." His shock had taken a firm grip. So firm that he did a complete one eighty that muted his emotional internal voice. He thought back to the bleak long white washed hallways he had grown used to. The scary long hallways leading to the labs where he was ripped apart emotionally and physically. The feeling of freedom overwhelmed him. It all seemed to happen so fast. For some reason though he wasn't as scared now.

This new scenery was terrifying but not in a bad way. He had thought he died as everything seemed to be surreal. The warm sun. The feeling of scratchy grass under his body. The cool water flowing nearby. Hell, even the flowers brought a pleasant feeling. He was almost happy. But the feeling was a bit much for him. "At least I'm never gonna be hurt again. Never." He smiled. "I just have to avoid others. I don't need anyone anyways. After all, you can't build happiness with others. I am just a monster anyways." He smiled a hollow empty smile to himself. He was trying to convince himself that others would only rip him down again. Minutes passed quickly as he tried to stand only to feel a heavy pain course through his body. He felt a sharp pain erupt from his open chest cavity before coughing heavily. Blood coating his fur a second time as he looked down at himself.

It wasn't like he expected to be healed from his intense injuries, But what he saw still shook his core. The amount of blood he was losing from his old and new wounds. It was more than he thought his body had. "Well this is a tragic sight." He mumbled his eyes feeling hazy as he laid out again. Ignoring the fact that he was still bleeding from his hind leg. He now had to learn how to walk, again. If he wanted any hope of surviving.

With his new found freedom came with new challenges. He took one of his heavy front legs and rolled over. His whole body pulsed with pain. Putting it under him he pushed up then eased his weight on his other front leg. Trying for his only back leg next he positioned himself to distribute the weight.

After a few strong and questioning breaths he forced himself up. But it was too awkward. He did manage to stand but he was quick to realize he couldn't move. Just staying up took a lot of mental and physical strain. He stared at where he wanted to move too. But the moment he tried to walk his face planted. His head struck the dirt mercilessly. Giving him a nice big bite of grass and dirt.

He spat out the debris and whimpered. Shaking away the tears, his ears falling back. "No! I can't give up." He tried again, shakily rising to his feet again. He wanted to live. The voice had vanished from my head. It wasn't there meaning he figured now he was on his own. Having determination he went at it for hours. Staring at the water in absolute exhaustion. All he wanted was a drink. He was so thirsty some fresh water would have tasted great. But instead of a mouth full of water. He was eating dirt. This happened another thousand times. Desperation driving his will to conquer this. After a lot of trying, reopening his leg, and eating dirt. He chose to crawl across the forest floor instead. He did manage to make it though.

Leaving a thick trail of blood as he inched to the stream. It seemed so far but he did it all on his own. He had earned his reward. Dipping his head into the brook sucking up as much water as his stomach could hold. His hips protruding like a puppy's belly. Gulping it down in droves. He hadn't felt this much water in so long. After he finished he sat up. Dropping his head, sighing. He mumbled rubbing his nose. "Guess I should just accept this." Staring at his reflection not recognizing the creature staring back. "No… wait…" He turned and realized he had wings… "I-I'm not a horse… I'm a pegasus?!" He stared in disbelief looking himself over. He appeared to be a dark brown and red colored stallion with wings. His long out of hand hair trying to cover his eyes as he stared down.

He was so startled by the sight of himself. Looking down. "I want to rip this thing out but… But I'm scared to touch it." It also was pulsing out blood. But it looked like more than before when he was human. "R-right a horse's heart beat is faster than a humans… I-I'm gonna die at this rate…" He whimpered and tried to slow his heart rate. He fell back in grief. "I just got my freedom. But nothing changed. I'm still gonna die…" He laid back in the grass deciding he would just accept it, dying under the sun wouldn't be so bad. He smiled while falling asleep. The warmth of something around him had engulfed his dreams and made him happy. I'm so cold… but something warm is enveloping my body. It had been so long since warmth had tumbled into his life so thoroughly. He welcomed it with open arms. It was clear he was dying, his heart beat slowed as he relaxed.

But just as he was finally accepting it something screamed at him to open his eyes. It was so nagging and persistent it was like he no longer wanted to die. The exhaustion didn't help. But he finally opened his eyes again, drowsily. When he did though. He lurched backwards in shock. He was face to face with a pony who spoke to him. But her words were incoherent as he screamed in fear.

He didn't get far as his body quickly killed the adrenaline having nothing left to give in terms of fleaing. He averted his eyes quickly as he flipped over curling up into a tiny ball of fear. Covering his head his tail curled around his feet.

A fluffy snow white rabbit with a bright pink nose charged out of the bushes up towards the small colt that had fainted. He had been taking a morning stroll before breakfast like he usually did. But today would be different. When He heard the blood curdling scream of fear. He had rushed to find out why and maybe help. If he could.

As he rushed toward the scream. The smell of overpowering blood came to his nose. He ran even faster as he came up to his Adopted mothers favorite spring. He had arrived at the spring at first taking stock of the gorgeous scenery. But amidst the scenery he saw a small colt who for some reason was laying in the grass bleeding profusely. The blood seemed like it was struggling to clot. When he noticed he went to get closer.

Whatever made the young colt scream caused him to faint. At least that's what the small rabbit thought. As soon as the colt fainted he had gotten closer. But the moment he noticed the colt's missing leg he bolted back to his pony friend. He was racing back through the bushes at top speed to his Adopted mother and caretaker. A vibrant pink-haired, yellow-pastel pony with three pink and blue butterflies as her cutie mark. Symbolizing her love and kindness for animals and ponies alike. Her name was Fluttershy.

Fluttershy was feeding her animals and the other wildlife. When a scream echoed from the forest behind her house. After a brief pause and a moment of silence. Nothing else came. So she chalked it up to her being alone for too long. After all three days alone would do that to anyone. So at first she thought it was her imagination. Until Angel her sweet but stubborn rabbit came charging out of the woods thumping her back profusely. At first Fluttershy didn't understand because Angel was going too fast.

"I can't understand you when you talk like that." She mumbled with a small smile. But Angel had only smacked his head with a fluffy paw then slowed down giving her a run down then took off with fluttershy in pursuit. Trying to get her to go see the colt knowing she would help the best she could.

"Huh? what?Angel? Do you know what that scream was?" She asked softly as Angel was trying to push her along. "Okay Angel, I'm coming." Fluttershy lagged quite a ways behind Angel. She wasn't sure what her pet rabbit wanted to show her. But he seemed committed to showing her. The pair ran through the woods. Angel running too fast for the laid back pony.

"Angel Wait, I can't keep up," She called, speeding up her pace a bit to try to stay with Angel. Who was racing back at top speed through the woods into a small clearing with a small stream running across it.

The bright green grass speckled with small pink carnations, Bright voluptuous yellow buttercups, and filling in the extra spaces in the field were gorgeous electric blue forget me not flowers scattering the large area. It was still just as pretty as she always remembered.

But as she surveyed the scene her gaze landed on a small red and brown lump. That was barely covered by the overgrown wild grass.

At first she thought it was a rock. But when she got closer she gasped and fell back at the sight of a tiny colt. Clearly starved, his brown dirt filled pelt was a sight. Prominent red flowers of blood coated the tiny body sprawled out across the ground. The blood leaked into the stream staining the water red.

It was clear that this small colt had suffered. He was missing a leg covered in hard to see scars and more unknown damage that she wouldn't see until later. But the most worrisome wound was over his heart. It was bleeding and clearly worse than any other wounds. She stared at him a moment before it clicked. He was going into shock. He needed help badly. She looked him up and down closely trying to figure out how she could help. Deciding it would be best to get him back to her cottage she went to move him but that's when he moved. "Hey! Hey! Wake up! Are you alive? Please open your eyes and show me you have a will to live." She whimpered, her body shaking as she knew she had to save him but if she moved him it could make him worse. But the hospital was too far for her to get him there safely. When she saw him open his eyes she was so happy.

But that quickly faded as the young colt screamed at the sight of her trembling as he waved his hoof at her whimpering "Please! Don't hurt me! I-I'm sorry for being a monster! I'm sorry for existing!" He cried curling up into a tiny ball. He was whimpering and crying. His tiny body shook with absolute fear. His thrashing and crying caused his injuries to aggravate. The blood loss knocked him out cold. Tears fell as he whimpered incoherently.

She was taken aback by his words. Hurt you? Monster? Who could have done this to such a young foal. She shook away her thoughts. "Those questions will have to wait. She sighed, calming down a bit. Well at least he's got the will to live. She was shaking with anger. Though she had to put how she felt aside pulling him up on her back as gently as she could. He bled all over her pastel yellow fur. She would do everything in her power to save this small colt.

She looked at Angel and stated in an urgent tone. "Go start the bath I need to clean him up and bandage his wounds fast." With her command Angel nodded and charged back to the house, having the animals help make space and get a lukewarm bath drawn.

Angel nodded and charged off. Taking all the power her little legs could handle she raced to the house to get everything ready. When she got there she ran through the house pulling everyone together and getting things ready. They threw in a little soap and a rag, the fluffiest one they could find hoping not to cause more damage.

Danny quivered as he felt something warm underneath him. It was definitely moving. However it was so warm it brought his cold body a lot of comfort. It soothed his aching body. But how? He definitely couldn't move, not with the pain, exhaustion, and definitely not without his own conscience. Taking a heavy breath he slowly opened his eyes feeling every movement made. He winced and groaned as his eyes slowly opened. At first all he saw was grass. He was okay with the grass. Grass was nice and safe. It meant he was still free. That sense of safety was fleeting however as his gaze drifted to the horse he was riding on. He shot up in fear. Falling off her back with a thud he growled waving his hoof at her, "G-GO AWAY!" He shouted shakily, panicking at the sight of her. He just wanted to be alone. His body shook heavily as fear set in all he saw were flashbacks of his time on the mountain.

He jumped as she approached. He struggled to back up leaving a bloody trail with his stub. He didn't realize he was inching into the chicken wire fence that fluttershy used on her land. He felt a sinking pain in his back making him squeal in pain. The wire tangled around his wings as he flapped hysterically. He didn't want to go back. He definitely was losing it. "N-NO I WON'T GO BACK!" He shouted fear filling his eyes. He shook with abject terror.

He was crying again. Shakily whimpered as he realized he was stuck. He fervently flapped his wings helplessly trying to get free. Danny stumbled over himself as he tried to flee back to the safety of the woods. But just fell over from his lack of balance. Which caused him to throw his hoofs over his head in a panic, "I'm sorry… I'm sorry please forgive me," He whimpered, his eyes swirling with fear of something he expected her to do. Danny bowed his head. His body went for submission as he lowered his body closer to the ground. Realizing he was trapped. His wings wrapped in wire. His hooves covered his face as he dropped his head. He had expected some form of punishment for trying to run. But when nothing came. He looked up slightly. When he just saw her standing there not moving his body relaxed. Following that he was overcome with drowsiness. Unable to keep his eyes open, he fell forward. The last thing he heard was. "I won't hurt you I promise." The yellow mare smiled meekly. As she reached out, catching him as he fell losing himself again.

Fluttershy felt the movement on her back and jolted in surprise when he screamed and panicked. He was terrified of her. She could see it on his face. She looked him up and down a moment before smiling. "Please calm down, I won't hurt you. I promise," She whispered softly, but decided not to approach him, for fear he would hurt himself more than he already was.

In his sleeping state on her back he mumbled over and over. "I'm sorry, please, I won't run again, please don't hurt me." Tears dribbled down his cheeks mumbling "I'm sorry I'm a monster." Shaking heavily, his wings looked mangled as he was moved. Seeking comfort on her back. "Please hurry girls. I don't know if I can help him alone."

Angel had come back outside after the bath had been drawn only to be told by fluttershy to go get the girls. "Tell them I need help. Angel was off to get Twilight and everyone for help. After Danny was out again she picked him back up and went the rest of the way inside. Carefully cleaning and dressing his wounds as best she could with her experience with her small animals. She decided to leave the cage around his heart alone as she would take him to the hospital when her friends arrived. Once she was done she closed the bathroom door and left him alone thinking that was the best option until her friends came.

Nice place to stop for now. It's a great cliffy for you guys I'm going to bring in all the other ponies here soon too ^^
