Martin, Chris, Aviva, Koki and Jimmy all stood frozen as the baby Velociraptor stared at them curiously with massive yellow eyes, tail wagging slowly from its place on the table. The dinosaur was small, no bigger than a kitten. Genetic engineering had given it light orange skin clad with faint stripes running down its back. Each of the creature's hands were tipped with three fingers ending with tiny claws. It stood on its wobbly hind legs, each middle toe bristling with the trademark talons of its species.

It wasn't long before the silent spell was broken.

"A raptor?! Why didn't you tell us you brought a raptor along with us?!"exclaimed Koki furiously at the backpack's respective owner.

"Well, I didn't know!"replied Martin defensively under the technician's piercing glare.

"Alright you two. Settle down. This isn't gonna solve anything,"said Chris, getting himself between the two, trying to keep the peace.

"Wait a minute."said Martin taking another glance at their surprise guest. "Amber?"

At the mention of her name, the two-day old Velociraptor immediately darted towards the Kratt in blue, chirping in delight before purring as she nuzzled against his chest.

"Huh, would you look at that. I think she likes you." remarked Jimmy Z.

"You mean that's the baby raptor we met at the lab?"wondered the Kratt in green.

"Question is: how did she get here?"pondered the inventor thoughtfully.

"Hmmm... Let's see."mumbled Martin as he retraced his steps earlier in the day, cradling the baby raptor in his arms. "When we returned to the Visitors Center this afternoon, we were looking for you guys and– hold on, wait a minute. I checked the lab and.."

****Flashback...****

The silence of the genetics laboratory was broken as the main door flew open with a creak.

"Aviva? Koki? Dr. Sattler?" Martin's calls echoed across the empty room. But only his own voice answered him. In the morning before, the place was once bustling with activity; geneticists going through computer and written data, scientists and caretakers hatching baby dinosaurs. Now it was as empty as an abandoned hermit crab shell. "Anyone?"

After searching every nook and cranny, the Kratt in blue then winced as another wave of pain hit one of his legs. Setting his pack on a nearby table, he rested on a roller chair, rubbing the part of his leg that was bitten by Katana the Baryonyx. Her kind did not have the devastating bite of tyrannosaurs like Wrecksy, but that did not mean that it didn't hurt.

Several minutes passed before Martin left the comfort of the chair to carry out his search elsewhere. Unknown to the creature adventurer, a small creature managed to crawl its way into the warm backpack now hanging from Martin's back.

****End of Flashback...****

"Well that explains it."concluded Chris, staring at the young raptor nibbling at his brother's fingers. "Amber must've recognized your scent or the sound of your voice. She's imprinted on you, bro."

"There's only one way to settle this," announced the technician. "After we talk to Mr. Hammond tomorrow, we're taking that thing back to Isla Nublar."

"Take her back?"said Martin incredulously, blue eyes widened in horror as he held Amber closer to him. "But– she'll die!"

"But if we keep her, she'll grow up to be the deadliest, most cold-hearted killing machine in sixty-five million years! No way."

"Look at her. She's only two days old. She wouldn't last a day on the island, much less anywhere else."

"That and it's never a good idea to introduce a foreign creature into a new environment."added Chris. "Just look at Australia and the cane toad invasion."

"Maybe we can just take her back to the other raptors?"suggested Jimmy.

"That's even more dangerous, JZ. They'd kill us."deadpanned Chris.

"Or Amber."added Martin. "Many predators like lions have been known to kill cubs that are not their own. Besides, the last time we saw them, they were battling a massive T-rex. And even if the raptor pack was alive, they probably wouldn't be much different."

"Ay pobresita."cooed Aviva, rubbing Amber's chin, earning a soft purr."She's just a baby. What harm can a tiny baby do to us?"

"Let me predict the future, Aviva: That cute little thing is gonna eat one of us someday! Believe me, we've all seen what her kind can do. I've witnessed Mr. Arnold being eaten alive by Bloody Mary right before my eyes! They killed Muldoon. They would've slaughtered all of us on the spo–" but Koki's rant was cut short as she felt something rub against her legs, and looking down she spied the little dinosaur brushing against her like a lovestruck kitten.

"Cut that out, you little–" but Amber's antics were getting the better of the computer whizz. Before she knew it, she was cradling the raptor infant in her arms. "Oh, alright. She can stay."

"We're Wild Kratts. We're protectors of every living thing, no matter what species."reminded Chris. "Besides, we've dealt with baby carnivores before. It's decided: we'll keep Amber until she's able to fend for herself."

"Chris? There's one other problem: from what little we know, Velociraptors are pack hunters. Even if she makes it to adulthood, she probably wouldn't survive very long without a pack backing her up, especially on an island full of bigger, nastier predators."

Chris opened his mouth to object, then paused. Martin had a point there. "Touché."

"Then in that case, we'll be her pack."said the inventor. "She'll stay with us."

"But what will Mr. Hammond say about all this?"asked Jimmy skeptically.

"I'm sure he'll agree. He might even have a few suggestions. We'll talk to him about it first thing tomorrow morning."said the Kratt in blue, taking the young raptor from Koki's arms, cradling her in his own. She was already in a deep sleep as the exchange was made.

"Welcome to the family, little Amber."

***Since you all insisted, I'll continue on with this story. And yes, Amber's the same hatchling we met in the first story, named by a certain Kratt in blue. If any of you readers have ideas, please don't hesitate to tell me. I'm open; that and I could really use some help with this..
