Well, I'm tired of being perfect

And I'm bored of being good

And I've done my time, and had my fill

Of acting like I should

I've colored right inside the lines

Now I wanna make a mess

And I don't care if it offends you

Cause I ain't trying to impress

I wanna flirt with my own fear

Wanna dance with my desire

Playing with fire

I wanna walk down every street

In that dress I shouldn't wear

Just to show the whole damn world

Just how little that I care

"I've never understood why women need so many outfits and accessories for a weekend trip." Andy commented from where he was sitting propped up on Sharon's bed flipping through a magazine watching her pack for a conference in Palm Springs that weekend.

'Well Andy, there are workshops during the day, a reception one evening, a semi-formal event another evening and you never know if the rooms will be hot or cold." She explained picking up a second sweater and folding it into her suitcase. "Which dress for the reception?" She asked holding up two nearly identical black cocktail dresses.

Andy set down the magazine and smiled at her, "What about the dress you wore to the symphony last month?"

Sharon could feel herself blush slightly at the memory of that dress and that night, "Andy, that dress is not appropriate for a professional environment. '

Andy scooted off the bed and walked towards her closet searching for the red dress and tossing it towards her bag when he found it before moving to her dresser, "It's Palm Springs, it's fine now let's see what we need from this drawer." He said flashing her a smile before opening the drawer that contained her lingerie.

Sharon shook her head and smiled stepping between him and the dresser, "WE don't need anything from that dresser since WE are sleeping in separate hotel rooms." She managed to get out before he silenced her with a kiss backing her into the dresser he stopped when he heard a soft moan escape her mouth.

"You sure about that?" He asked with a smirk clearly pleased with himself.

"Yes, Andrew.' She said slipping out from his arms, 'Now, don't you need to go home and pack yourself. We have to leave early in the morning."

Andy pulled her back to himself, "You already expect me to keep my hands and thoughts to myself all weekend and now you want me to go home and sleep by myself tonight too?" he asked as he moved her hair in order to place kisses along her neck.

Sharon let out a sigh, "When are you going to pack?"

"Sweetheart, in case you haven't realized it I have more than enough clothes here to pack for a weekend trip. I just need a suitcase, surely you aren't going to make me drive all the way back to my house just to get a suitcase?" He asked as he continued kissing her and began to work on the zipper of the dress she was wearing.

"Well that does seem to be a silly thing to drive home to get when I have an extra one." She agreed as she moved her hands up his chest and began to unbutton his shirt.

"See I'm just being practical." He told her.

"Andy stop talking." She laughed before allowing the dress he had successfully unzipped to fall towards the floor.

Andy awoke before dawn the next morning realizing he still needed to pack for the weekend he did his best to quietly slip from the bed and turn the closet light on.

"What are you doing?" Sharon mumbled sleepily.

"I have to pack, you've got another hour to sleep.' He told her as he pulled the extra suitcase from her closet along with some of the clothes that had accumulated at her place over the last month. He quickly packed his things and set the suitcase by the door. He spotted hers still open on the floor where it had ended up the previous night. He went to zip it up when he spotted the red dress and smiled to himself as he carefully placed it in and the matching shoes in her bag before zipping it.

They arrived at their hotel in Palm Springs that afternoon, Sharon and Andy were accompanied Provenza and Sykes while the rest of the team remained in Los Angeles on duty. They checked into their hotel and the cheerful woman at the front desk informed them they had two sets of adjoining rooms. Before anyone could notice Andy picked up two keys handing one to Sharon keeping the adjoining one for himself. He grinned proudly to himself as the four of them made their way to the elevator thinking that the weekend might go better than he thought. His thought were interrupted by Sykes.

"Look Captain, you and Lieutenant Flynn have the same suitcase, well yours is a little bigger, almost like they are a set." He heard Sykes comment.

"What a coincidence." Provenza added dryly rolling his eyes in Flynn's direction.

"Yes, what a coincidence." Sharon agreed pushing into the elevator wishing Andy had picked another bag.

They got off the elevator on the fifth floor looking for their rooms once again Andy thought they were in the clear until he heard Sykes voice.

"Lieutenant Flynn, I think you got my key, here's yours." She said swiping the key from his hand and replacing it with the one that joined Provenza.

"Funny how that happened." Provenza muttered once again rolling his eyes. Sharon didn't even look back at him as she pushed her way into her hotel room needing to put some distance between them all.

"I'll see everyone at the reception tonight." She said. Andy started to say something but was met by the sound of her door shutting. Sykes entered her room leaving the men in the hallway.

"Really, Flynn you couldn't be bothered to go home from your girlfriend's place to get your own suitcase? And you were going to make me roommates with Sykes? Listen you and the Captain can do whatever you want on your own time but do not subject me to it." Provenza barked before leaving Flynn in the hall by himself.

Andy sat through his first workshop something about cyber stalking. He wasn't really paying attention and was thinking about how much better a weekend in Palm Springs could be with Sharon instead of sleeping in separate hotel rooms and sitting in workshops. He didn't notice when a woman came and sat down next to him.

"Hi, Karen Hart, FBI white collar." She introduced herself.

Andy snapped from his thoughts noticing her for the first time, "Uhh, Andy Flynn LAPD." He said shaking her hand.

"How's the workshop so far?" She asked leaning in a little closer to him and picking up the itinerary he had sitting in front of him.

"Fine so far." He said turning attention back to the speaker.

"Oh it looks like we are in the same workshops all weekend, we can be buddies." She smiled.

Andy sat through two more workshops with Karen before the afternoon was done, as he was gathering his things after the last one she smiled at him and placed a hand on his arm. "Well I guess I should go get changed for the reception. I'll be looking for you Andy." She said with a smile that made Andy even more uncomfortable.

He returned to the fifth floor and did his best to discreetly knock on Sharon's door wanting to tell her about Agent Hart and maybe have a moment or two alone with her. Once again Sykes foiled his plan when she opened the door.

"Hi Lieutenant, the Captain and I were just finishing getting ready for the reception. The Captain has this amazing red dress in her bag, I told her she should wear it tomorrow night. I'm not sure why she brought it if she isn't going to wear it. Anyways did you need something?" Sykes rambled.

"Just seeing if you ladies were ready?" He asked his frustration growing.

"I am the Captain is in the shower, I'll tell her we'll see her downstairs, Lieutenant Provenza is already there." Sykes responded.

Andy sighed and accompanied Sykes to the reception where he found Agent Hart already waiting for him.

"Oh Andy, come let's get a drink." She said taking him by the arm and leading him to the bar.

"A martini for me. What about you Andy you want one?" She asked.

"Just a club soda." He asked the bartender.

"Come on Andy you're not on duty." She prodded.

"No but I am in recovery." He told her dryly.

"Oh that's fabulous come tell me all about it." She replied unfazed now leading him to a corner of the room. From where Agent Hart had him corned he finally spotted Sharon enter the room in one of her black cocktail dresses, God she was beautiful. Their eyes met and she gave him a puzzled look in the direction of Agent Hart. Andy did his best to send her a look that said help me, but she simply made her way to join Sykes and Provenza.

"Looks like Lieutenant Flynn has a friend." Sykes commented.

"Yes looks like it." Provenza smirked looking knowingly at Sharon.

"Well isn't that nice." Sharon said sipping her wine and looking at the woman who was shamelessly flirting with her boyfriend. To his credit Andy was attempting to break free of the woman but with little success. Eventually Andy was at least able to drag the woman over to the rest of the group.

"Agent Hart, meet some of the LAPD's Major Crimes division, Lieutenant Provenza, Detective Sykes, and Captain Sharon Raydor." Andy introduced her to the group.

"Oh, Captain, so the boss is here Andy? I guess you have to behave then." Agent Hart giggled.

'Yes, because his boss is here." Provenza muttered rolling his eyes and returning to the bar.

"Well as his commanding office my only concern is that Lieutenant Flynn represents the LAPD well." Sharon said trying to hide her annoyance.

"OH, I have no doubt that he will." Karen declared attempting to wrap her hand around Andy's arm.

Andy gently scooted away before saying, "Well if I am going to represent the LAPD well at the workshop I'm leading tomorrow, it's probably best if I call it a night."

"Yes, I think I should as well." Sharon agreed placing her drink on a tray and walking towards the elevators with Andy.

"So, I see you have a new friend." She whispered sweetly as they waited for the elevator.

"I think she wants to be more than friends." Andy replied watching Sharon out of the corner of his eye.

"You do seem to have that effect on some women." Sharon agreed with a flirt to her voice.

"Some? Who would some of these women be?" He asked raising an eyebrow at her.

Sharon shrugged, "I don't know that's just what I've heard." She answered walking into the empty elevator smiling back at Andy.

Andy shook his head then joined her waiting for the doors to close, when they did he pulled her close kissing her until he felt the elevator stop smiling down at the half shocked but please expression on her face.

"Some women, huh?" He whispered as the doors opened. "Good night Captain, see you in the morning."

Sharon didn't see Andy very much the next day but whenever she did see him he Agent Hart was closely attached to him. She went on and on about how brilliant his workshop had been and how he should come to the FBI to lead some more training. Sharon was finding it increasingly more difficult to hide her annoyance with Agent Hart, and if she was honest she was feeling a little jealous. Had Andy even told her that she he was seeing someone? Evening came and she approached the ballroom wearing the second of her black dresses that she had packed. She immediately spotted Andy across the room in her dark black suit with silver shirt and tie, she smiled it was one of her favorites. Then she spotted Agent Hart in a dress that was too short, tight and low cut doing her best to pull Andy to the dance floor. Sharon stopped at the doorway took a deep breath and turned back to the elevator, she was tired of this.

Thirty minutes later she stood back in the doorway of the ballroom in her red dress with matching high heels. She had bought and worn the dress to send Andy a message last month and he had received it loud and clear when he took her home that Friday night and didn't leave until Sunday. Tonight however it was Agent Hart that she was sending a message to, and that message was that Lieutenant Andy Flynn was taken. She glanced the ballroom and found Andy and Agent Hart dancing awkwardly. Sharon took a deep breath as she made her way to them and tapped Agent Hart on the shoulder.

"Excuse me, I'm cutting in." Sharon informed her not waiting for Agent Hart to respond before finding her way into Andy's arms. Agent Hart looked momentarily stunned then slowly shuffled away.

"Well hello Captain that is a very attractive dress you have on this evening." Andy said with a smirk.

Sharon smiled at him, "My boyfriend is particularly fond of it though, I'm still not certain it is appropriate for this occasion. "

Andy leaned down and kissed her quickly, "Well maybe then we should get you out of here and back to your room before anyone else sees you in it." He whispered in her ear.

Sharon quickly took his hand leading him off the dance floor, stopping briefly by Agent Hart. "Good night Agent Hart, I don't think you need to look for Andy at breakfast in the morning. I'm pretty sure he will be having room service."
