Hello loyal readers! Since the newest main series games were announced, I thought it was fitting for my next update to be this despite my lack of chapters at the ready.
In all honesty, I am excited about these new games and will definitely be getting them when they come out. I'm not sure at the version yet, but it's looking so good so far!
In other news, here are the reviews! (I didn't mean that to rhyme!):
StZushi: Thank you so much and I do agree with you about Lack-Two/Blake's name. I like Lack-Two better for some reason so I'm keeping that for my stories! And to make up for the lack of Scarlett and BLue in the last chapter, I hope you enjoy this one!
ThaCrzayClan: Oh Arceus! Thank you so much! I would love to see that and I am honored!
Ai Star: By interesting you mean getting his butt kicked by a girl, then yes.
And now onto the disclaimer!
Disclaimer: I don't own any part of Pokemon or anything I would refer to. I only have ownership over my OCs, such as the lovely Scarlett.
Chapter Eight
Yellow's POV
Once upon a time, a baby was born in the Viridian Forest. Her mother died in childbirth and the only other parental figure in her life was her uncle. Growing up, the girl was seen as different and an outcast to other people.
The other children would tease her for never talking. She got injured while protecting any wounded pokémon. After the children would finally leave, the girl would heal the pokémon with her mysterious power.
The girl didn't know where her healing power came from, but it made her feel different. She felt like she didn't belong with anyone else. No matter what her uncle will tell her, she will always be different than the other children her age. The girl grew up around the other children teasing her and the girl was not able to make even one human friend. The other children would avoid her, calling her a monster.
There were times where she will grow angry at the other children. When that happens, it was usually when she was tending to the local forest pokémon. They will tease and call her names. They will throw rocks and sticks at her. Sometimes, she will have enough of their bullying. She will grow angry and the pokémon she was caring for will attack the children with an unknown power.
Whenever that happens, the girl will have to hide inside for days. She will have to hide until the children's words were nothing more than a story from the imagination.
One day, there was a knock at the door, but her uncle wasn't home. The girl was in the front room, drawing. It was the only thing that made her feel happy. She drew many pokémon and plants.
"Hello? Is anyone home?" a small voice called out. The girl stopped her drawing and simply looked at the door. Her uncle told her never to open the door to anyone she didn't trust. In her young life, the girl never trusted anyone except for her uncle. Listening to her uncle's words, the girl went back to her drawings. She was still inside after a pokémon attack.
"Please, I only want to play."
The girl went back to her drawing. The town's children always say that to her. They always wanted to play, but they end up teasing her and throwing rocks. The girl was drawing a Pichu she has met before. She was her closest friend from the forest, but she was the one to attack the children before.
"I want to play in the forest with you." The voice chimed again. "I've seen you with the pokémon. They really like you."
The girl ignored the call again. She focused on her drawing.
"Come on. I know someone is home." The voice grew impatient. "I promise I can be a good friend!"
'That is what everyone says.' The girl thought to herself. 'Until they call you a monster.'
"Hey! What are you doing?!" it was a different voice at the door this time. The girl simply ignored it.
"What does it look like I'm doing? I'm trying to get a new playmate!" the higher pitched voice replied.
"By going to a stranger's house? That's dangerous!" the other voice shot back.
"She's not dangerous!"
"How would you know?"
"A little girl like that wouldn't hurt a pokémon."
"Pokémon are dangerous. Haven't you heard? She was there at the attack."
The charcoal in the girl's hand snapped. So the stories aren't stories yet. The girl picked up one of the pieces of the broken charcoal and continued to draw.
"I don't believe it." The first voice said.
At this, the girl turned towards the door again.
"I saw her. She was protecting that Pichu. All she wanted was a friend. She did nothing to those kids. She didn't tell that Pichu to do anything! A friend was just protecting a friend!"
The girl slowly out of her seat and walked slowly to the door. Silently, she placed one ear against the wooden, listening to the two.
"That Pichu shocked the kids! How is that protecting?!"
"You're not the one who sees her every day! I walk past the well and I see a girl at the edge of the forest playing with a pokémon. But every day, the other kids will bully her! They hurt her! I can't stand it any longer. You know those kids make up everything! She is not a monster!"
Without thinking, the girl opened the door. In front of her were two children around her age. One was a girl with hair as black as the night sky and blood red eyes. Facing her was a boy with hair the color of the earth spiking upwards and forest green eyes.
"Oh!" the raven-haired girl said, turning towards the girl. "Hello!"
"This is the girl?" the boy asked.
"Don't tell me you never saw her..." the ravenette groaned. "See! This is why I tell you not to listen to those kids! And you were the one who always tell me that 'seeing is believing.'" She rolled her eyes.
The boy just shrugged. The girl stood silently, not sure of what to say.
"I guess we haven't introduced ourselves, right?" the ravenette said. "I'm Scarlett and this is Green." She pointed to the boy. "I always see you around the village, but I never get a chance to talk to you, so do you want to play together sometimes?"
"Scarlett, I don't think that's a good idea," Green said quickly.
"And what do you know Green? You haven't hung out with anyone but me!" Scarlett glared at him.
"That's not true!" he glared back.
"Well, I've never seen you with anyone else," Scarlett stated.
"Um," the girl finally found her voice to speak up.
"Oh right, she's here," Green said, looking at the girl. Scarlett hit him in the arm. "Ouch! What was that for?!"
"For being rude!" she glared. When she turned towards the girl, her eyes were soft, and she had a smile on again. "Sorry about that! So, do you want to play with us? It gets boring with just two people."
The girl looked at the two of them. She never had any friends before, especially those who seemed accepting of her. The boy seemed cold and callous, but he doesn't seem too bad. The girl was kind and sweet. It didn't matter what the other children called the girl, Scarlett still wanted to be her friend.
"And what do we have here?" the girl looked up to see her uncle. He was back from town.
"Uncle?" the girl asked.
"Are these two here to play with you?" her uncle asked.
"Yep! I saw her near the forest, and she looked lonely. I thought we could become friends!" Scarlett answered.
"That seems like a great idea. Yellow here doesn't play much with the other kids so her opening the door to you two is really something! Go on Yellow, you can play." Uncle smiled.
"So, you're name's Yellow?" Green asked. I nodded my head.
"At last Green's not the only weird one with a color as his name." Scarlett laughed. "Come on!" she grabbed my hand and pulled me away.
"Scarlett!" I heard Green yell behind us. Scarlett was running fast, but I managed to keep up as she dragged me. I smiled. I knew that this was when I met my two closest friends.
"Hey Yellow! Wake up!"
"You know she's not."
"Shut up! Come on Yellow!"
"This should help!"
"Ah! Warn me first before you open the curtains!"
"Just leave her then!"
"Yellow!"
I felt someone shaking my body. I yawned as I slowly blinked myself awake. I looked up to see Scarlett and Chatot standing over my bed. The curtains were open and sunlight was pouring into the room.
"Good morning, Scarlett," I said sleepily.
"Geez. For one day, you wake up earlier than me and then you go back to sleeping until it's practically afternoon." Scarlett sighed. "Gold came by earlier to ask you where you were since you came in early that one day."
"He should know that I come in late." I sighed as I sat up.
"He's your cousin." Scarlett rolled her eyes. "Anyways, get ready and head over to the daycare before he comes back around here."
"What about you? Don't you need to get to your job?" I asked, standing up.
"I was able to get Soul to cover for me today. I need to finish this dress first. They're picking it up today." She said as she went back to her mannequin.
She's been working on it late every night ever since she got the new job at the pub. It seemed to be a hybrid of a kimono and a ball gown. The bottom skirt flared out in layers of glittering sky blue and shimmering pale pink tulle with a layer of silvery silk draped over them under a shimmering silver fabric to complete the skirt. The top simply had two pieces of the same shimmering silver fabric crossing each other over the chest, but they had a white trim to them.
The sleeves say angled on the shoulders and matched the top with blue and pink ruffles of the same tulle as the skirt peeking out from the sleeves. A white obi was tied around the waist.
I could see more fabric scraps littered near the mannequin, ready for Scarlett to pin and sew them on. She already had some of the tulle pinned on the sleeves near the shoulders and some under the obi and over the skirt. She even made a small headpiece that included a pair of chopsticks, a pin with both diamonds and pearls, and more tulle scraps attached to it.
"Where did you even get the jewels from?" I asked her.
"Oh, I was taking a walk on the shore since I was bored and then I found a few pearls in the sand. I knew they were super rare, so I just hid them. As for the diamonds, you can thank Chatot for that." She answered.
"Well, I can't help it if I'm naturally attracted to shiny stuff." Chatot retorted.
"You're not a Meowth or Murkrow." Scarlett rolled her eyes.
"My cousin is a Murkrow, for your information!"
I left her to do her work and got ready for the day. In fact, she kicked Chatot out of the room and closed the curtains so I could get changed. I went out front to get something to eat before I head to the daycare. Scarlett made some rice balls so I grabbed one and headed out the door.
"Scarlett! I'm heading out!" I called out.
"Okay!" I heard her reply. I smiled and closed the door behind me.
I bit into the rice ball. Scarlett put seaweed in here. I liked it. Ever since Scarlett started living with Uncle and me, our lives have gotten a little bit livelier, even though it's mainly Chatot. She helped with dinner whenever she could and did some of the housework. Uncle is always gone during the day to fish and sell his catches at the docks, so he comes home late.
Even though I work at the daycare, I spend my free time drawing so I could sell them for extra money. Scarlett has even pitched in and used some of her earnings to improve the house and buy food. It's been fun having another person to talk to before I go to sleep. It's been easier to meet up with everyone else since we could meet them together.
Green has been visiting more often. Apparently, Scarlett even met Blue already. It was a surprise to us, but we welcomed Blue and her fried Silver into our group. We've grown closer in the past few days so it was a new experience to have some new people to talk to.
"Sorry! Watch out!" I looked up to see a young boy run past with a strange looking Meowth on his shoulder. I looked in the direction he ran to, but he was already gone. I shrugged it off and continued my way. I finished my rice ball by the time I got to the daycare. Gold was already in the field with the baby pokémon.
"About time you got here!" he smiled when he saw me.
"Sorry I sleep it." I apologized.
"As always. I knew I was hoping for too much when you came in early that one day." He sighed. "Black is feeding the larger pokémon. Go help him."
I nodded and opened the gate to the pasture. Some pokémon immediately ran up to me. I took a moment to greet all of them and grabbed a nearby pail filled with grains and berries for the pokémon. I sprinkled a few for the smaller pokémon around me and headed towards the part of the pasture made for larger pokémon.
The daycare was a place mainly meant for breeding pokémon to help with work, but since Gold's grandparents, the owners, loved pokémon so much, it's filled with many pokémon who made this place their own home. People are free to come by and adopt a pokémon to bring home so they can love them as well. As it is still a daycare, we take care of any pokémon if their owners are away for long. It stays running through generous donations from the townspeople.
The guards have to check in once every month, but since Gold's grandparents are known throughout the town as kind people, they often turn a blind eye to the dangerous pokémon in the daycare. As Scarlett said, the kingdom is corrupted, but sometimes, that's a good thing.
The daycare still breeds pokémon, yet it's not forced. People still pay for their services and overall, the townspeople just adore the owners.
The daycare sits near the edge of the forest, so this was a perfect place for my friends to meet and play with our pokémon without always sneaking out. I made it near the edge where I saw Black feeding some Rhyhorn. Around him were some Zebstrika, Machoke, and Scyther. I knew more were milling around. I saw that Black's Musha was slowly chewing on his head, but he wasn't fazed at all.
"Hey Black." I greeted him as I walked up to the pokémon. When I approached them, all of them perked up and came closer.
"Hey Yellow." He smiled. "Your Pikachu has been waiting here for a while for you." When he said that, Chuchu dashed out of the forest and nuzzled me.
"I miss you too!" I said as she hopped down. I grabbed a handful of food and scatter it around. I looked over to the trough where the food was supposed to be filled for the other pokémon. Usually Black fills it up.
"Where's the rest of the food?" I asked him.
"I asked Y to get it." He answered. I sighed.
"You let a young girl carry a fifty-pound bag filled with food all by herself?" I asked.
Black froze for a second. "I'll be back!" he ran off so quickly, Musha fell from his head. I sighed and sat down on the ground, petting the pokémon as they ate. Chuchu sneaked a few berries for herself to eat. Musha slowly picked herself off the ground and floated over to me. He landed softly next to Chuchu and I gave him some berries to chew on. More pokémon came out of the forest. They all soon started to rest on the ground as they ate.
After a few minutes, I looked up to see Y running over with Black slowly walking behind her with a large sack on his back.
"Bonjour Yellow!" Y smile as she sat down next to me. Her Veevee jumped into her lap.
"Hi Y." I smiled back. "So Black finally took the bag from you?"
"I had no idea what he was thinking!" Y huffed. "Gold-senpai told us to feed the pokémon so Black-san just took a pail and walked off, leaving me with the bag! I could barely lift up a bag even with Gold's help!"
"Well, Black isn't the best at thinking." I sighed as I watched him carry the bag over and dump it near the trough.
"You could've at least helped me support it form the back!" Black exclaimed between pants.
"You left me with it alone!" Y retorted. Black sighed and cut the bag open. He lifted the bag up and emptied its contents into the trough.
I got back up and grabbed the now empty food pail. "I'm going to get some water from the well. Anyone want to come?" I asked.
"That's such a long walk. I'm already exhausted from carrying the bag." Black sighed.
"I'll go! I don't mind the walk! The water from the well is better anyways!" Y exclaimed as she jumped up. She grabbed Black's empty food pail.
"We'll be back soon, Black," I told him. He nodded and Y and I walked out of the pasture. I told Gold where we were going, and he gave us a nod. Chuchu and Veevee followed us out.
"Hey, Yellow-senpai, why don't you have your Pikachu at home? You're old enough to be allowed that, right?" Y asked me.
"I would, but Chuchu just loves the forest too much. I don't want to take her from her home. I do visit her all the time." I explained as Chuchu climbed on my shoulder.
"I'm almost old enough to have a pokémon of my own and not have it taken away." Y said as she hugged Veevee close to her chest. "Why do most of our group not have their pokémon with them at home, even though they're safe?"
"Well, the kingdom doesn't see those pokémon as safe," I explained. "If the king finds out, they'll be part of the army. That's why Green told us to hide them in the forest. As for you and Whi, you're too young for any pokémon. When you're old enough, try getting your parents' approval." I advised her.
"Okay. I just can't wait!" she sighed.
Honestly, Scarlett does put this kingdom in a bad light, but there are parts of it that bring good. Yet, she's still right with how unbalanced the rules of the kingdom is. Men do make most of the important decision in the kingdom while women are deliberately ignored. Pokémon are practically outlawed unless they're approved. And dangerous pokémon will be the king's property and for people like Scarlett, she'll either be killed or a slave. The world is a cruel place, but there's always a light shining somewhere.
Scarlett's POV
"Okay! I'm finished!" I sighed as I stood back. The dress was finally finished. The list the knights gave me was extensive, but I got everything they wanted. There was a large bag nearby with a hole cut through the top. I undressed the mannequin and placed it on a hanger. Carefully, I placed the bag over the dress and poked the top of the hanger through the hole on top.
With that done, I placed the headpiece in a small box. "Come on Chatot!" I called out.
"It's time to go?" he flew into the room.
"Yes," I nodded as I handed him the small box. There was a ribbon attracted to the top. Using his talons, he grabbed the ribbon. I hugged the dress close to me, careful not to get any wrinkles, and headed out. I locked the door behind me and practically ran through the town.
I made it to the back alley of the dress shop. "Pst! Ruby!" I whispered as I knocked lightly on the door. It cracked open and I saw Ruby's red eye peeking out. He opened the door fully.
"Hurry up! I don't know how long master will be gone!" he exclaimed as I rushed in. I quickly walked to the front where I hung the dress on a nearby rack and Chatot placed the box on the counter.
Just as I got everything settled, the constant noise outside stopped. "What's going on?" Ruby asked as he stood next to me. I spotted the knights through the window.
"It's them!" I gasped as Chatot hid under the counter. I regained my composure just as the door opened. The knights entered and held the door open, standing on either side of it.
"Ahem," the blond one cleared his throat. I believed his name was Pearl. "Lady and gentleman." He announced.
"Please bow for her highness," the other one announced. His name was Diamond if I remembered.
"Her grace," Pearl continued.
"The Missy herself," Diamond went on.
"Princess Platinum Berlitz!" Pearl shot a glare to Diamond.
Right as he finished, a young girl walked in. Her eyes were cold and constantly shifted between gold and silver. Her dark blue hair was tied back in half a ponytail as she walked gracefully into the shop. She wore a simple grey dress and a matching veil over her hair.
"Denka, ojousama." Ruby bowed while I curtsied.
"Please rise." Her voice was soft, yet sharp. We stood up. "I believe my dress is ready?"
"Hai, ojousama." I bowed. I took the bag from the rack and the small box on the counter. Diamond and Pearl walked up and took the two from me.
"If I may?" Princess Platinum asked as she gestured to the bag. I nodded and walked out from behind the counter. With Pearl holding it, I gently lifted the bag to reveal the dress. I looked at the princess to see her face. She looked the same as before, but her eyes were sparkling.
"Well done." She nodded. I placed the bag back over the dress. "It's perfect. Now, how much do I owe you?"
"Oh, I couldn't, denka!" I shook my head. "It was an honor just to make the dress for you."
"Nonsense." She said. "I could see that this dress was made from love and took hours to make. I believe this would cover for the dress and labor." She gestured to Diamond and he took out a pouch. She took the pouch and placed it in my hands. I had to recover from the slight recoil of how much the pouch weighed.
"Oh! Doumo arigatou, ojousama!" I exclaimed and bowed. "Please wait! I also made a headpiece to go along with the dress. I looked over to Ruby and he brought it over. He opened the lid for her to see.
"My, my." She sighed. "You truly created an entire outfit, haven't you? I admire that." She snapped her finger and Diamond walked up again with another pouch. She took it and handed it to me. Again, I had to recover from the recoil.
"I'll be sure to see out your work again." Princess Platinum smiled at me before her knights took the dress and box from Ruby and I. The princess left with her knights behind her.
Ruby and I bowed until the door closed. I stood back up, staring at the bags of Poké in my hand.
"Scarlett, are you okay?" Ruby asked as he walked up to me.
"I don't even know," I muttered. The bags were so heavy. This was defiantly more than a year's worth of working in the dress shop in my hands. Maybe even two.
"Well, you better go fast," Ruby said, slapping my back. I snapped back to reality. "Master might be coming back soon."
"Right!" I nodded, putting the pouches away. They felt so heavy in my small bag. "Thank you for sneaking me in, Ruby!" I hugged him quick.
"Yeah, but this is the last time. If she or the knights come back again, I'm saying you left the shop and working freelance now." He said as he pushed me back.
"Perfect!" I nodded. I said goodbye to him as Chatot and I exited through the back. I made my way through the crowds until I reached the well. I needed some fresh air to clear my head after what just happened.
When I reached the well, I saw that Yellow and Y were there. Yellow was helping Y get some water from the well.
I walked up to them, sitting down with my back to the well's walls.
"Oh. Hello Scarlett." Yellow said as she helped Y retrieve the bucket.
"Hi, Scarlett-san!" Y waved.
"Hi girls." I smiled.
"You look like you've just seen a ghost," Yellow remarked as she placed a hand on my forehead. "Are you sick?"
"I'm fine," I told her. "I gave the dress to the knights today."
"That's good. How much did you make?" she asked.
"How much does your house cost?" Chatot said. I flicked him off my shoulder. "Hey! I'm telling the truth."
"Seriously, they gave you that much for a dress?" Y asked.
"Well, not them technically." I sighed.
"It was the Sinnoh princess! And Arceus, she was pretty!" Chatot exclaimed.
"The Sinnoh Princess?!" both of them exclaimed.
"I thought they were just knights! Not the knights for the Sinnoh princess!" I exclaimed. "If I knew I was going to be making a dress for royalty I would've chosen better fabric! Not that cheap stuff I got from the docks!"
"Scarlett, I've seen you work day and night on that dress. If the princess accepted it and paid you then it means she liked it. Don't be too hard." Yellow said.
"You're right. I'm just still shocked by what happened. Out of all the people in this kingdom, the visiting Sinnoh princess!" I sighed.
"Just be glad that it's wasn't that Blue you would be making a dress for," Chatot said.
"Did I hear my name?" I looked up to see Blue walking towards us from the forest. "I know I'm pretty, but I'm not trying to get sick! So, don't be throwing my name around like nothing." She was wearing the same blue cloak and Silver was next to her.
"Hi Blue, Silver." Yellow nodded. They nodded back. Y repeated her.
"I'm surprised you're out this early. Usually, you'll sneak out later in the afternoon." I remarked as I stood up.
"Well, I had lessons that I really didn't want to go to, so I made Silver here escort me out here," Blue smirked. Silver simply looked to the side.
"Listen, I would love to stay and chat some more, but y and I have to get back to the daycare. We were just supposed to get water." Yellow excused herself. She and Y picked up the pails and started to walk away. However, as soon she turned around to start walking, she walked into somebody.
I didn't even notice someone was walking towards us except for Blue and Silver. I turned around to see a boy with green hair and another boy with brown hair. Both of them were soaked with water from Yellow's bucket. Judging from how big the bucket is and the comedic amount of water on the two boys, it seemed impossible. A girl poked her face from behind the two.
"Oh, Arceus!" Yellow gasped. "I'm so sorry!"
"Well, there's our bath for the month." The brunet boy sighed.
"Ew! Gross!" the girl jumped from the two. "I thought we were allowed one once a week!"
"Girls only." The greenet boy sighed.
"Do you two want to dry yourselves off at least? And not catch a cold?" I asked. I ripped off the longer skirt I was wearing. I could see a moment of panic on their faces before they saw I had a shorter skirt under. I handed it to them.
"Uh, thank you. I guess." The brunet said as he took it. As they were drying themselves off, I looked over to Y to see her refilling Yellow's bucket with water by herself. Yellow was fretting over the two boys and even the girl who was behind them. Fortunately, she didn't get wet at all.
Behind the three newcomers, I saw Green walking up to us.
"Hey, Green." I greeted him as he stood behind the trio.
"Sir!" the three jumped and turned away.
"I leave you three for one minute." He sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Don't make me regret giving you cadet extended hours in the town."
"Green, it was my fault," Yellow told him. "I spilled water on them. I didn't see them." I nodded in agreement with her.
Green simply sighed again. "I thought it was you three being dumb, but it was just you being clumsy."
While he was talking, I saw Y casually walking past us and back on the path to town, carrying both buckets. She didn't pay any attention to us. I guess she was heading back to the daycare.
"You three are lucky then." Green turned back to the three cadets.
"Sorry sir." They saluted.
"You're a babysitter now?" I asked him.
"It's just a new thing I implemented. The cadets wanted more time to explore the town, so I let them, but these three are just a test run. I'm seeing if this is a good idea or not." He explained.
"And who are these little cuties!" Blue squealed as she pinched the greenet's cheeks.
"Ow!" he groaned as she let go. "That really hurts!"
"You're probably going to get a bruise, Wally." The brunet said.
"Like I don't have enough from sparring." Wally sighed.
Green introduced each of them as Wally, Lack-Two, the brunet, and Moon, the girl. We each introduced ourselves, sans the princess part from Blue. Oddly enough, Silver stayed silent.
The trio quickly left though. Before they did, I saw Green shoot them a glare and I'm sure that was what made them ran back to the castle.
"Training these cadets are such a pain." He sighed.
"Says the head of the Guard." I rolled my eyes.
"OH right!" Blue clapped her hands together. I turned towards her. "There's a ball coming up! And it's a masquerade. I want all of you to come!"
"Blue," Green glared.
"Come on! You know how boring those balls can be!" she retorted. "Besides! Everyone will have a mask. No one is going to notice townspeople there." She nudged ISvler and he handed an envelope to Yellow and a stack of them to me. The top one had my name on there. I looked through the others to see that they had the names of the others.
"Hand them out to your friends. The invitation inside will be your ticket into the ball." Silver explained.
"Be sure to dress nice! And don't worry about the masks! Just meet me near the well here. There's a path in the forest which leads from right outside the castle walls to here." Blue said.
"But not everyone has fancy clothes." I realized. Yellow looked at me with sympathy.
"Well, I guess Ruby and you will have your hands full until then." She sighed.
Right! There was Ruby! Wait, when he finds out about this, he'll probably be too ecstatic, he'll do most of the outfits himself. That will probably put less of a load off my shoulders.
"Are you sure you'll even go?" Green asked me.
"Of course!" I nodded. "This is once in a lifetime opportunity!"
He sighed. "If you say so. Honestly, I get tired of all these balls. Seems like the king and queen host one about every month."
"Well, you're part of the Guard and the prince's best friend. It's only natural you'll go." I replied. I looked over to Yellow, only to find her gone. I guess she went back to the daycare. "You know, since this is a masquerade ball, I doubt anyone would notice if Blue here would be switched with me. Considering how we look so much alike." I joked.
"Oh my Arceus! That's genius!" she squealed.
"Wait, what?" I looked at her.
"This will be perfect! I always wanted to get out of the castle! I've only been able to sneak out like this, but if you take my place, then I'll be free!" Blue ran up and grabbed my hand that wasn't busy with the invitations.
"Hold up, Nee-san, I don't think that's a good idea." Silver interrupted her.
"Same here. It's very risky." Green said. "If Scarlett gets discovered, then she'll definitely be thrown in the dungeon or even worse."
"But if you were me, you could possibly change Father's mind on those laws you're always complaining about," Blue said slyly. That got my attention.
"No, Blue, you are not going to bribe her with that." Green butted me, separating me and her. "You know fully well that you barely have any power in making the laws. Only the king and Red has that."
"That's only because I don't care as much about politics." Blue retorted. "But with Scarlett's aggressive and persuasive attitude, she can make Father and Red change their minds!"
"I'm in!" I exclaimed.
"Scarlett, this is a bad idea." Green glared at me.
"And what do you expect me to do?" I shot back. "You know how much I hate the laws in this kingdom. The other kingdoms don't have any laws like this, yet all the lords and ladies are flocking here just to grovel at the king's feet for his protection and power. We all have to obey by these laws made by a sexist king just so we can live. This isn't the life I wanted. This isn't the world I want for anyone. People like me have to hide who we really are. Everyone has been struggling with these laws. This is my one chance to maybe change them. I know it's near impossible, but at least give me this chance."
I felt tears coming to my eyes, but I kept them back. I looked up to Green, only to see him sigh and shaking his head. "Fine. Do whatever you want. Just know that I'm not going to get blamed if anything is going to go wrong."
Blue clapped her hands together. "Perfect! So here's my plan…"
Now we're getting to the main story!
Since the relationship between Scarlett and Silver and Blue and Green is based on the Barbie adaptation of The Prince and the Pauper, I was planning on centering other relationships around other fairytales. I already have one in mind for Yellow and Red, White and Black, Whi-Two and Lack-Two (in this one they are not siblings, keep that in mind), and X and Y, but I am not too sure about the others. If you have any suggestions for the following couples, then tell me in a review! I would love to hear your ideas!
Sapphire x Ruby
Sun x Moon
Platinum x Diamond
Gold x Crystal
As far as how often I work on this story, I don't have much time to write in general because of schoolwork, but I have a break coming up soon, right after finals, which are the worst, s I might have more time to write and come up with new ideas.
And to anyone wondering, yes, I am planning on adding the new protagonists in the story, but I just don't know what their names would be. I mean, colors as names is one thing, but Sword and Shield as names? In either case, who would be Sword and who would be Shield? Regardless, I will hint at their introduction, but it may take time since we never got official names for the Sun and Moon protagonists in the game until the release, so who knows how long the manga is going to take.
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy this chapter and the story so far!
