Day 8: Bonus! Whatever you want prompt.
"It's great to arrive, but the trip's most always the most of the fun." – Malcolm Forbes
Botan and Hiei wandered around the city aimlessly. Where Botan seemed at ease with this notion, Hiei was irritated by the whole ordeal.
He observed all the things he disliked and crossed his arms over his chest. There were humans everywhere, obnoxious lights, and loud noises. The fire demon would rather be at the apartment instead of out in the hustle and bustle of this chaotic evening.
The fire demon looked over to the blissful woman and asked, "Where exactly are we going?"
Botan merely giggled. "It doesn't matter where we're going," she mused. "The journey is always the most fun." Hiei growled and grew more rigid.
Just then, Botan's eyes fell on a yakitori stand. She could see people with their meatballs on a stick and smiled. The ferry girl always wanted to try yakitori, but she never had the chance. She peered over to her indifferent companion. "I think we found our first stop."
Once the two had their skewers, they continued to walk around the city. The woman wanted to explore. Hiei regarded his stick with a grimace. He was reluctant to try whatever this 'yako' crap was, especially since Botan never tried it either.
"Why would you bother with this if you didn't know what it tastes like?"
"It's always great to try something new," Botan encouraged.
So, Hiei tried it the same time Botan did. Both their eyes widened. Hiei was surprised by the flavors. The taste was both slightly sweet and a bit savory, and the flavors complimented each other very well. It was such a simple combination, yet Hiei was strangely delighted by the snack.
Hiei looked to Botan. In that moment, it was almost like she was glowing. Botan caught Hiei staring and froze. "What? Is there something on my face?"
The demon knew there was nothing there, but he lied and said, "Sauce." Botan lifted her hand, about to wipe the imaginary spot away, but Hiei stopped her. He grabbed her hand and murmured, "Here, let me."
Hiei surprised Botan when he kissed her, gently caressing her lips with his as they held their skewers in the air.
Then, the fire demon pulled away and continued to walk and eat another meatball nonchalantly, as if nothing had happened at all. He even casually put his hand in his pocket.
Botan was caught in her spot, struggling not to become a puddle on the street. What just happened?
She trailed after him to find out.
A/N: Such a simple combination of sweet and savory, huh? Just like Botan and Hiei, hm? ;) Well, everyone, the second round of Hiei X Botan Week is over! I hope you enjoyed all these pieces. Until next time (note I'm not saying next year. Day by Day will continue as usual XD).
