It was a dismal night, as Klaus faced his family. Elijah had undaggered their family that weren't already undaggered, their mother, Esther, included. Kol and Rebekah had been undaggered for a while, but now Finn and Esther were also awake. Klaus was afraid of this, because he knew they hated him, though his mother acted like she'd forgiven him for killing her. She even planned for a ball.
The next night, Esther linked them together, planning to kill them all to undo what she saw was a mistake. She wanted vampires to no longer exist. Finn even agreed, because he hated being one.
Eventually, her other children found a way to unlink themselves, but Finn was staked by Damon to save Kat from him. And once they unlinked themselves, Klaus killed his mother, yet again.
The next day, Kat woke up in the hospital, having been injured by a vampire attack the night before. She was assured by the only doctor that knew what existed though, Meredith, that she was fine and could go home that night. And that was the night that Rebekah got her vengeance. Despite Klaus wanting her alive, Rebekah stood in the middle of the bridge, which made Kat swerve as to not hit her, and Kat's SUV dove into the icy water below.
A few hours later, Damon walked briskly down the hallway, Meredith at his side, him demanding where she was.
"You're not listening to me, Damon," Meredith stated. "I helped her."
Damon stopped walking, as he finally got the hint. He realized that she'd had vampire blood in her system when she'd died from the crash in the river. He knew that that meant that she'd wake up in transition to become a vampire.
