Heeeerrreee's Foamy!

I'm glad to see that you guys like this idea! I'm having fun with it and it's helping me work out children-related details I'll need for other stories. Now, this chapter doesn't address some of the questions I know you guys have, like what happened with Speedy. That comes next chapter. This chapter is a reflective one for both Robin and Raven.

I hope you all enjoy it too!

Robin sighed and ran his hand through his heavily gelled jet black hair, mentally exhausted beyond belief. Never before had something so bizarre happened to his team before and it was affecting them all very differently.

Starfire was, of course, absolutely ecstatic to have this child and was absolutely determined to raise it as her own. He honestly didn't think it was a good idea. For all they knew, it could have secret mental programming locked away in its head to kill them all in their sleep the day they let their guard down. He had attempted, just once, to reason with Starfire about the dangers of keeping the lab-made kid.

Being launched into the sun would be safer than trying to take the child away from her, he would later decide.

Cyborg, on the other hand, had been oddly quiet about the whole situation. He had said that as the tower's doctor (barring Raven's healing abilities) he would keep an eye on the children on a physical level and keep an eye out for anything unusual. Robin had come to the realization that the half machine man was quietly envious about having a kid of his own, considering how much he played with the kids and had shown (more than once) his reluctance to part with them.

Beast Boy was the one who startled him most of all. He stepped into the shoes as a father (or by the changeling's own words "Daddy") easily. The little girl absolutely adored him and he adored her. They were almost as inseparable as Starfire and the boy, though Robin knew that it was because his friend was and always would be a child at heart.

The kids were actually pretty easy to take care of, truth be told. They played together quite frequently, with the boy always chattering in his strange little self-made language and the girl always quietly listening. Sometimes she did speak, mostly a very polite Please and Thank You and Daddy. She could also say Uncle Cy, Auntie Star, and Uncle Rob very clearly, along with a large variety of other words.. It was painfully obvious that she had Raven's intellect, since it was clear as day that she would only say something if she could say it right the first time.

Robin pinched the bridge of his nose as his thoughts wandered to the team empath. Her reaction on that day had been completely expected but simultaneously unprecedented. He slid the paper in front of him off his desk into the garbage can, unwilling to reread the number of zeros amounting to the damage cost her little 'panic attack' had caused.

At first, she had frozen. Completely and utterly frozen, stone still, for what seemed like forever. Then without warning, she deposited the child into Beast Boy's lap and left the room without a word. As soon as the door slid shut behind her, the shaking started. Steel rippled, glass shattered, wood buckled and snapped, walls crumbled, doors explode, and the very ground outside the tower cracked as Raven's power went absolutely berserk.

That was nine days ago and nobody had seen Raven since then.

They all knew she was still in the tower, though, and had decided to give her time to process it. Oddly enough, it was Beast Boy's idea to leave her alone.

"She'll come around after she clears her head." He had said, leaving the Boy Wonder to wonder what had happened to the Beast Boy he had known for years. The Beast Boy he knew would have barely hesitated to chase after the distraught empath.

A giggle at the caped crusaders' side drew his attention and his eyes snapped to see a tuft of red hair just below the edge of the desk. The boy had, somehow, gotten into his office again. Only two other people had the abilities needed to get in there, Beast Boy and Raven, since neither Starfire nor Cyborg's strength or energy attacks could get through the specially made doors.

Which meant that the boy had the help of a certain little girl, he finally realized.

Instead of scolding the boy for intruding, as he was wont to do with his friends, he picked him up and set him in his lap. As the boy sat there giggling, Robin couldn't help but looking him over.

His hair would be the same deep and luscious red that Starfire had, that was for sure. If the lad was smart, he'd keep it short, like Robin's. It would look good on him when he got older, though if he decided to let it grow Robin would insist he do a warriors braid. Starfire would surely approve of that, seeing as her people were very much warriors by heart. He had the same piercing blue eyes his father had, but they held the cheery disposition his mother had. He was never without a smile, it seemed. A smile that reached deep into his eyes, just like his mothers.

Father and mother.

Robin raised his hand to his chin and scratched it in thought. Was this really the right term to use for what him and Starfire were to the kid? Their DNA was taken without their permission, after all, and used to make this child. Other than a bit of touching during a few heated make out sessions, they had never been intimate, so it wasn't as if the child was from his or Star's loins. He wasn't legitimately worried about when the DNA was stolen, since he was positive that Slade had gotten it during one of the many, many times they had clashed.

It was the why that worried him.

A number of situations came to mind readily, but he dared not voice them for fear of his old paranoia and extreme obsession resurfacing. Instead, whenever the thoughts popped up, he would stop what he was doing and take several deep breaths until his mental process was under control again. It was a mind clearing technique he had learned from Raven and it worked wonders.

The little boy in front of him was steadily chattering away as he picked up papers and put them down in different stacks, no doubt imitating Robin. The Boy Wonder couldn't help but to smile. If he was going to raise this clone, this child, as his own son then he would need to teach him the proper way to organize his work files for maximum efficiency, along with martial arts and leadership skills to boot. But that could wait until the boy was older.

Scooping the boy up in his arms, Robin made his way out the door, pausing only to turn off the light after a brief glance at his desk.

Work can wait a while longer, he thought.

When Robin reached the common room he found that Beast Boy and the little girl were sprawled across the floor, crayons littering the area around them as they colored in some books Beast Boy had gotten. The boy in his arms squealed with delight and tried to jump from his arms to join them. Robin couldn't help but laugh and set the boy down, watching as he raced off to join his friend. Within moments, he had his own book and was happily chattering away as he scribbled all over the page. The girl giggled at him for a minute, then returned to trying to keep her own coloring inside the lines. It wasn't an easy task for a four year old but she was trying really hard.

Robin shook his head in amusement and joined Starfire, who was in the kitchen. In her hands were in a mixing bowl filled with some strange purple goop and she was vigorously stirring chocolate chips into it.

"Whatcha makin', Star?" He asked as he sat at the counter and watched her. He couldn't help but gaze at her figure as he did so. Her long legs lead up to her purple skirt, with her belly button just above it. Her orange-ish skin almost glowed with her boundless joy today and her hair seemed to shimmer like rubies in the light of a fire. Her big emerald eyes turned to him, drinking him in like was her most favorite thing in the world (which he was, alongside the boy). Her lips curved upwards into that smile of hers that left his heart beating madly and his head woozy. His eyes traveled down her slender but strong neck down to the curves of her soft brea-

"Boyfriend Robin, did you hear me?"

Robin flushed deeply as he came from his rather inappropriate inspection of his girlfriend. He coughed and looked anywhere but at her. "Ah, n-no Star, sorry. I got lost in thought."

Starfire smiled. "It is okay. I had said that I was making the Tamaran version of cookies, called sielaaks."

"You have chocolate on Tamaran?" He asked, looking at the varied ingredients behind her.

"No, but I have changed it to better suit Earthling tastes. I am hoping it turns out wonderful."

"Uncle Rob! Auntie Star!"

The two teens turned to look at the little girl, who clambered up the stool to sit at the counter next to Robin. She gleefully held up a picture of a boy and girl, colored to look like Robin and Starfire, who were holding hands. There were little purple hearts floating around them and both were smiling as they gazed into each other's eyes.

"That's really good! Did your daddy help you with this?" Robin took the picture and showed it to Starfire, who still had her hands full. Starfire almost squealed in delight and then leaned over the kiss the girl on the head.

"Many thanks for this glorious picture, bumgorf of friends Beast Boy and Raven!"

The girl gave her a big, open mouthed smile. It was so much like one of Beast Boy's toothy grins that Robin couldn't help but smirk.

The girl then shook her head. "No, daddy colors bad."

Robin and Starfire couldn't keep their snickering to themselves as a fakely hurt Beast Boy stomped up and presented his picture of a multi-colored bear fighting a multi-color octopus.

"I do NOT color bad! Look, I stayed between the lines this time!" He pouted loudly.

"Daddy, bears are not blue. Or yellow. Or purple. Or red. Or orange." She pointed at each color as she spoke.

Beast Boy's ears lowered in pretend hurt, then shot back up as he grinned. "You forgot green!"

The girl rolled her eyes. "Daddy is green and can be a bear, so it green doesn't count."

Robin, Starfire, and Beast Boy stared at her for a solid minute before the changeling slunk away muttering to himself. "Yeah, yer Raven's alright."

Ten minutes later, Cyborg stepped through the common room doors, his arms loaded with groceries. The little boy immediately ran up to him and started chattering away.

"Nuncle Cy, Nuncle Cy!" He said, dancing around the metal man. "K'norfa ledda me help him! I stakka papers!"

Cyborg paused in mid step, translating what the child said. "Your dad let you help him work?"

"Yeah!"

The big man grinned. "That's awesome buddy! You wanna be a big boy and help me with put the food away?"

The child grinned. "Nope!"

Cyborg stared at the boy as he raced off, slightly nonplussed. Then he shrugged and took everything to the kitchen, where he and the others set about putting the food away. Towards the end of the process, Beast Boy pulled a box of toothpaste from a bag and a bottle of lavender scented shampoo from another. He then squatted down and gave them to his daughter.

"Can you leave this outside mommy's door? Daddy isn't sure if she has any more so he got uncle Cy to get her some." He asked her. She nodded enthusiastically, took them from him, and walked off grinning.

Just before she reached the door, it slid open. The little girl stopped and looked up into the pair of eyes from whence her own came from. Raven looked back at the girl blankly as the room around them froze to spectate.

Hesitantly, the smaller purple eyed girl held the items out to her mother-figure and spoke shyly. "Daddy said to take this to you. Here you go."

Raven's hand shook slightly as she took the toothpaste and shampoo. Inspecting them, she noted that they were her favorite kinds and brands. She tossed a glance at Beast Boy, who nervously looked away.

"Sorry Rae, I didn't know when you'd come out so…"

Raven nodded her thanks to him and looked back at the little girl at her feet. Before she could thank the little girl, the child spoke.

"Mommy…do you hate me?"

Raven's entire body went numb. She braced herself against the door for a minute before sinking to her knees, dropping her shampoo and toothpaste.. One hand clutched her head as if she were in pain and the other dug into the carpet. After several agonizing heartbeats, she spoke.

"No…I do not hate you."

"Are you mad at Emmy? I'm sorry."

Raven's brow furrowed. "Emmy?"

"Daddy says my name is Emelia Annabelle Logan." Emmy said proudly. Raven cast another look at Beast Boy, who raised his eyebrow at her.

"What? You thought I wouldn't give her a name?"

Raven looked back to the girl and sighed tiredly. "No Emmy, I'm not mad at you. I'm just…very confused."

Raven closed her eyes, trying to fight back the headache before it could really kick in. The past week and a half had been absolute hell on her psyche. Part of her was delighted to have a child of her own. Part of her was very disturbed that this 'daughter' was a clone. Another part was very very angry about the whole situation. And yet another part of her was extremely curious as to why Beast Boy had accepted this situation without argument.

All of a sudden, a little pair of arms wrapped around her neck and hugged her. Raven opened her eyes and looked down at the little girl in her embrace.

"Daddy says that mommy needs all the hugs in the world right now 'cause she's scared." Emmy said. "So Emmy is gonna hug mommy until she feels better."

Tears filled Raven's eyes and began to fall before she could stop them. Wrapping her arms around the little girl, she silently wept. She didn't deserve such affection from anyone, especially this little girl.

To her, this little girl was an abomination. An undesired perversion of nature itself, willed into the world by a tyrannical madman hell-bent on dominating and destroying everything he touched. She was the epitome of all things wrong in the world, created for a vile purpose solely in the name of evil.

Just like Raven.

But she couldn't hate the girl.

Therein is where her anger came from. She should hate the child; she should loathe its very abominable existence. It, like her, was an existence that was wrong in every aspect. She should be destroyed before whatever calamity preordained for her could occur.

That line of thinking was one she had heard a few monks of Azarath speak to her mother of her when she was a child.

And that is precisely why she couldn't hate the girl. She hadn't asked to come into this world; she had been forced into it. Just like Raven. And as such, she was slowly coming around to the idea of this little girl being hers. After all…who better to be there for her than someone who had lived through it?

She would try to love this child that called her mother and try to raise her as best she could, something Raven's mother didn't even attempt to do. Her friends had told her she had redeemed herself ten times over of any evil intentions her birth was meant for. Maybe…just maybe…she could do that for this child.

Another pair of little arms wrapped around her, causing her tear-filled eyes to snap open. She looked down into the eyes of the little boy, who looked like he was going to cry.

"Fra'nok, dun cry! You make Martin cry too!" He sniffled, before rubbing a tear away onto his shoulder. Raven turned her watery eyes to Starfire, who was trying to blink away her own tears.

"Fra'nok is a word from my language that is similar to the Earth word 'aunt'." The alien princess said gently.

Raven nodded and turned back to the children wrapped around her. "I'm sorry Martin, your fra'nok has been very confused."

The boy's face screwed up in thought. "Fra'nok confuzzled?"

"Yes." Raven nodded and hugged him too. "Thank you two for the hugs."

"Does mommy feel better now?" Emmy asked hopefully. Raven nodded and gave her a little smile. Emmy smiled so big that Martin smiled and both started giggling. Raven released them from her embrace and stood up quietly as they raced off to do whatever it is kids do. She then made her way to where her friends were, where Beast Boy offered her some napkins to wipe her face.

After she had done so, she took a deep breath and turned to the changeling. "I suppose it's time for me to apologize for abandoning you with her. I'm sorry, Beast Boy."

"It's okay Raven." He gave her a little nod and a shrug. "I didn't expect you to take it well, so I kinda planned ahead."

"How long did you know?" She asked curiously, noting that the others were listening intently.

"Three days after we brought them home I realized she had purple eyes." He looked away. "Sorry I didn't tell you, I didn't think about it at the time. When Batman sat us down and told us all that stuff and told me that she was half me…well, that's when I realized she was half you too."

Raven's eyes drifted over to Emmy as she started coloring another picture, Martin close to her as he scribbled on a page. She was surprised to hear that he had thought that far ahead in such a short little time, but it wasn't entirely a surprise. He was a person who could live day by day, so a week and a half wouldn't be hard for him. Beast Boy's next words drug her attention back to him.

"She's smart Rae, really smart. Waaay smarter than me. She definitely gets it from you." He gave her a warm smile. Raven couldn't help the small flushing of her cheeks, though she had no idea why she was blushing. She cleared her throat, desiring to change the subject before he noticed.

"Right. Well…she certainly has your kind spirit." She shifted uneasily on the barstool. "I suppose we should talk about you and I now."

Beast Boy's gaze, which had wandered to the kids, instantly snapped back to Raven. His eyes were wide. There was an odd light in them as well and the strangest of sensations emanating from his soul, Raven noted.

"You and I…" She started slowly, taking her time to organize her thoughts. "We are going to raise this child to be the opposite of whatever Slade and Brother Blood wanted, to be a good and kind person as well. After some serious thinking, I have come to accept her calling me mother and calling you father. Initially, when I calmed down and started thinking things through I had decided that I alone would raise her. Don't give me that look, let me finish."

Beast Boy's eyes and face had lit up in anger but he held his tongue like she asked.

"I am aware of how selfish this line of thinking was. She is a part of both of us so we both should raise her. I changed the way I was thinking because I remembered how you were with her during those two weeks. To be honest with you Beast Boy, it was…really weird, watching you two. I spent years around an annoying as hell dork that was obsessed with making me smile and loved aggravating me as much as he loved tofu and video games. We had a few…moments, we'll call it, where you showed me a softer, kinder side to you and vice versa. I'll admit that much. And I will also admit that I have somehow come to the conclusion that you are my best friend, despite our mountain of differences. These observations are what helped me decide to raise her with you instead of without you. I simply can't deny the fact that you have been good with Emelia. You've given her a nice name and been here for her the entire time I was locked in my room battling with my inner demons. You…you might just be the father she needs and I…would like to try to be the mother she needs. Understand?"

Beast Boy was quiet for a long time, his friends watching him with bated breath. He leaned on the table and looked out at Emmy as he did so, his expression unreadable even to Raven.

Though the sorceress would have denied it vehemently if asked, she was actually terrified he would say no to raising Emelia with her.

"I get what you're saying, Rae." He said suddenly. Raven stared at him blankly as her insides churned within an unknown source of nervousness. He scratched the back of his head, as he was wont to do when he was thinking or nervous. He suddenly turned to Raven, his expression serious. She had to stop herself from stepping back in surprise. That expression on his face was rarer than a smile was on hers.

"I only have one question." He said.

"And that would be…?"

"What is 'with me'?"

Her brow furrowed in confusion. "What?"

"You said you would raise her with me. Is that with me or with me with me?" He turned his head away as his cheeks reddened a bit.

Raven stood there staring at him as what he had asked clicked in her mind. Her mouth opened twice but closed as several more things clicked in her mind. This was most certainly not what she had expected him to ask. A relationship with me? She thought. Would it just be for show because of Emelia? Or is it possible that…

A few minutes of thought were what she needed and he granted her that. When she did speak, it was gently.

"Beast Boy…You know as well as I do that I'm not really cut out for relationships. Yes, you're my best friend and all, but I haven't looked at anyone romantically since…" She paused, not entirely willing to speak the name of a certain lying dragon. He nodded in response to her discomfort and gestured for her to go on, so she continued quickly. "Anyways, it's sweet of you to think that way, but I'm not looking for anything like that at this time."

Beast Boy paused for a moment, then nodded. "I getcha Rae. Hey, you're looking pretty tired. Why don't you get Emmy and take a nap? She could use one."

His reaction startled her. During his pause in speaking to her, she felt a deep sense of hurt that conflicted with something warm she couldn't identify. But those emotions where smothered by an overwhelming sense of acceptance, along with something else she couldn't identify. Again, she gazed at him curiously before glancing over at their 'child'. Emmy was indeed yawning, so Raven nodded at him and scooped up the little girl. "We'll talk some more later, Beast Boy."

"What doin', mommy?" Emelia asked of Raven.

"We are going to take a nap. And then this evening we're going to go into town and get you some clothes." Raven hugged the child close, secretly thrilled at the idea. Emmy's drowsy response was muffled out by the sound of the shutting doors.

Robin, Cyborg, and Starfire all looked at Beast Boy, expecting him to break down in tears. They all knew he had a crush on Raven and to be shot down like that should have really hurt him.

Instead, they found him grinning like the Cheshire cat.

Cyborg glanced warily at his friend, hoping the boy hadn't snapped. "You iight bro?"

Beast Boy's grin got even wider. "Dude, are you kidding? I'm freakin' great!"

"Huh?" Was all that came from Robin and Cyborg. The changeling laughed.

"In one conversation, Raven accepted Emmy, admitted I was her best friend, and then said we were a possibility!"

Robin frowned. "I don't remember the last part."

"That's 'cause you weren't paying attention, dude." The green guy's smile widened. "She said, and I quote, 'it's sweet of you to think that way, but I'm not looking for anything like that at this time'."

"How is that…" Cyborg stopped in mid-sentence as he realized what the shapeshifter was trying to say. A grin crept its way onto his face, but Robin continued to frown.

"I still don't get it." He grumbled.

"Look man, what he's tryin' to say is that Raven is opening up to him 'cause she said he was being sweet and a good father figure to Emelia." Cy clapped his hand on Beast Boy's shoulder. "And on top of that, she said he was her best friend which is more of an emotional admittance than we got when we went inside her mind that one time. To top it all off, she said that she said she wasn't looking for anything at this time, which means he has a chance later, just not right now."

The Boy Wonders' face turned thoughtful. "I see where you're coming from now. That's an awful lot of optimism, Beast Boy. Think you can wait that long for her?"

"Dude, you have no idea how long I've already been waiting for her. A little more won't hurt."

A/N: For future reference, the kids names are Emelia Annabelle Logan and Mar'tin (Martin) Grayson.
