PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
I work too much.
orz
Needless to say, Raven didn't get much peace and quiet at the hospital. Not that she was complaining.
Well…that was a lie. She complained. A lot. Mostly about how noisy Beast Boy being. And that he needed to take Emelia home. And how she needed real food, not this junk the hospital served. And that she wanted some tea and time to meditate. And…
Beast Boy had a sneaking suspicion that Raven was actually irritated at him for some reason he couldn't put his finger on.
In the end, it didn't really matter. Once she had enough power to heal herself she did, much to the amazement of the staff. Had she been in a more hospitable mood (see what I did there?), she would have explained to them the nature of her healing powers. But the irate empath simply wrapped herself and Emelia in a cloak of dark magic and teleported them home.
Leaving Beast Boy dumbstruck in the middle of the hospital.
Just as he had sighed and resigned himself to a long walk home, the portal reopened in front of him. Thinking she had forgiven him for whatever he had accidently done, he darted through…
And came out ten feet above the pool in the Tower.
After pulling his soaked body out of it, the green teen's irritation at this impromptu bath dissipated when he had a sudden thought.
Hold on…we have a pool?
That was two days ago. While Beast Boy hadn't forgotten her rather bizarre attitude, he had forgiven her. Well, that's what he told himself as he sprinkled a tad of itching powder on the hairbrush she kept in the bathroom. What she didn't know wouldn't hurt, right? He, Robin, and Cyborg were always pranking each other. The girls only occasionally got caught in the backlash.
As soon as he finished there, he washed his hands of the powder and left for the common room. Upon arriving, he immediately decided to avoid Raven for the time. Instead, he opted to find Emelia and take her on that walk he promised her. Luckily, she was sitting at the table eating a cookie.
"Hey there munchkin, ready to go on that walk?" He asked as he sat next to her.
"Yes sir!" Emelia beamed before wolfing down the rest of her treat.
Beast Boy laughed. She certainly had his appetite. "Okay Emmy, let me get some cool stuff from the room and we'll go."
Emelia nodded and clambered down the chair. She looked around and spotted Martin reading a book on counting. He was sitting in a nice little sunbeam on the chair closest to the windows and he looked like he was enjoying himself immensely. Emelia approached him quietly, wanting to scare him.
Just seconds before she could pounce, he turned and looked at her with a huge smile.
"Hiya Emmy!"
"Hello Martin." The little girl said, slightly downcast. She loved scaring him when she could. It was something she had inadvertently gotten from her father. "You still gonna come on a walk with me and my daddy?"
"Yeah!" He shouted and jumped up, tripping over his own feet as he ran towards the door. "Gorra ask k'norfa and k'nafa!"
The aforementioned k'norfa and k'nafa, Robin and Starfire, just happened to walk through the door at that moment. Raven, who had been sitting near the window reading, arched an eyebrow at the sweaty pair. Robin noticed this and quickly shook his head, blushing furiously.
"T-training." He stuttered.
"Right." She deadpanned.
"Momma, papa, can I go walk wif Emmy and nuncle BB?" Martin asked, bouncing up and down. It would be a miracle if the boy ever ran out of energy.
"Of course, my bumgorf!" Starfire picked up her son and kissed his head before messing his red hair up. Robin was standing there, a thoughtful look on his face.
"You know, Star, I might just go with Beast Boy too." He said after a moment. Starfire beamed at him as Raven's eyebrow arched even higher. Thought half-demon didn't know it, Robin was aware that she had been rather rude to Beast Boy over the past couple of days. The reason why, however, eluded him and he was going to grill the changeling about the whole kit and caboodle.
Losing interest in the conversation Robin started with her sister figure, Raven had just turned back to her book when Emelia walked up smiling.
"Lookie, mommy, I have a date too!"
Confused, Raven could only say, "Huh?"
The little blond girl giggled. "Martin said he'd go with me! He's my boyfriend now!"
The empath snorted. "Who says he's your boyfriend? I don't recall your father or I saying you were old enough to date."
Emelia stared at her mother hard for a moment before her face became serious. "He's my best friend, why wouldn't he be my boyfriend?"
Raven was just as nonplussed as she was irritated at that statement. It was very rare for her daughter to get sassy, but when she did it was something to take notice of. She arched her eyebrow at the little girl. "Are you trying to imply something, Emelia Annabelle Logan?"
The little girl stiffened at hearing her full name, knowing she was on the verge of getting in trouble. She shook her head quickly. "No mommy, I promise."
"Mhmm…" Her mother stared at her for a moment, then nodded. "Go get your shoes on if you're going with your father."
"Okay mommy!" Emelia shouted gleefully before taking off and grabbing Martin. "Come on boyfriend Martin, we gotta get our shoes on!"
The half Tamaranian boy only had time for one 'Huh?' before she yanked him out the door as quickly as she could. Raven, who had turned a full 180 to glare at the little girl, snorted at the tenacity of the child.
'He's my best friend, why wouldn't he be my boyfriend?' Raven rolled her eyes. She knew precisely what Emelia was implying; that Raven and Beast Boy should be dating. Emelia might be intelligent, but she was only four. In time, she would realize that just because someone is your best friend doesn't mean that they would make a good couple.
Besides, she didn't like Beast Boy like that. She preferred her guys taller, with a brain, at least semi muscular. Guys that would give her the space she needed and didn't coddle her like she was some kind of infant. Someone who put an effort into actually understanding her and being able to hold an intelligent conversation about their mutual hobbies.
Sadly, Raven had yet to meet a guy like that.
Sure, the changeling was charming and sweet and loved bugging her and dragging her along on trips so that she wasn't alone all the time, but he wasn't dating material in the empaths' eyes. He could be kinda cute, in a boyish way, at times. And that fang that jutted out of his mouth was amusing, just like the way his ears wiggled when he was excited or nervous. He was like a puppy, really.
An adorable puppy that made her smile when no one else could, even if he had no idea that he did so.
The empath froze, her book slipping slightly from her fingers as her mind raced. What the hell did I just think?
Shuddering slightly, she shook her head. This line of thinking was ridiculous. She needed a distraction so that these thoughts would go away. Her book just wasn't cutting it, so she marked her page and looked around the common room. Beast Boy and Robin were standing near the entrance, animatedly talking while Martin and Emelia bounced around.
A small smirk graced Raven's lips at the sight. Emelia never really got active like that unless Martin was involved. He was like a ray of sunshine to the little girl. They really were the best of friends.
Cyborg walked into the common room at this time, Fixit close behind him. The mechanical man raised his eyebrow at the sight.
"Hey ya'll, what's happenin'?" He asked.
"We're going for a walk, Uncle Cy!" Emelia gave him a toothy grin, which made him smile back.
"That's cool, Emmy, but how are ya'll getting there? Uncle Rob's R-Cycle only seats two."
Beast Boy and Robin stopped talking, their eyes going wide. They had been so caught up on leaving that they had forgotten how they were leaving. Cyborg saw this and laughed.
"Guess we're having a family outing!"
"What a glorious idea, friend Cyborg!" Starfire squealed and floated a good six foot off the ground.
"I wish for you all to have fun. I shall return to my quarters if you need me." Fixit bowed slightly and was headed towards the door when a larger metal hand grabbed him by the shoulder. The android turned to the cybernetic man, whose grin was wider.
"Nah man, you're coming too. You'll just have to fly there with Star."
The androids' head tilted slightly and he spoke in confusion. "But what purpose would it serve for I to go with you? I am not a member of your family unit."
"There isn't a purpose other than being there with us dude." Beast Boy clapped his hand on the other shoulder. "That's what family does."
"Curious." Fixit stared at the floor for a moment before nodding. "Very well. I shall accompany you on this outing."
There was a tugging on his hand that drew Beast Boy's attention. It was Emelia and when he turned to her, she looked over at Raven. The sorceress had returned to her book, having lost interest in the conversation.
The changeling leaned down and whispered to his daughter. "I'll try, but you know how much mommy loves her books and quiet."
The little girl nodded and her father walked away. He approached the empath silently, pondering how he was going to get her to come along. The other Titans were quiet, waiting for him to convince the most reclusive member of their family to join them. Several minutes of hard thinking later, Beast Boy simply shrugged.
He hopped over the couch. Immediately after landing next to Raven, he put a hand on her shoulder. Raven visibly flinched. A funny look filled her eyes for a moment before it turned into a glare that she leveled at him.
"Personal. Space." She growled.
"I know, Rae." Beast Boy smiled and stuck his tongue out teasingly. "Come on, Mama, come to the park with us. Emmy would love it if you do."
Raven froze, an uncertain look on her face. "Mama?"
Her teammate shrugged sheepishly. "Sorry, it's what my dad called my mom before they passed away."
Uncertainty turned into confusion and Beast Boy smacked his forehead in realization. "I mean my real parents, not Mento and Elasti-girl."
"Oh."
It was all she could say. She, like the other Titans, had no idea who Beast Boy was before he joined the Doom Patrol. They didn't know anything about him really. He hadn't told anyone and because of that, nobody had asked. Yet here he was now, telling Raven.
And calling her Mama, of all things.
There was a weird bubbling sensation in her stomach and a slight pressure in her chest as she nodded. "I'll go."
Beast Boy gave her a huge and warm smile. His affectionate and happy emotions washed over her like warm rays of sunlight on a cool day. As he got up and dashed over to their friends, Raven lifted her hand to her face to see it slightly shaking. What was wrong with her?
This was probably the third strangest seating arrangement that they had ever had to use in the T-car.
Cyborg was driving, obviously, and Robin was in the passenger seat. In the back, Raven sat between two car seats. Emelia was strapped in one and Martin in the other. Starfire and Fixit were lazily trailing above them in the sky, the alien princess humming something to herself as the android watched the surroundings passing by. But where was Beast Boy?
Silly question. We all know where he was at.
Raven sighed and looked at the little green lizard on her shoulder.
"I hope you're enjoying yourself." She deadpanned. The lizard nodded, making Emelia giggle. Martin started giggling too. Beast Boy crawled down Ravens' arm and into her lap. The empath raised an eyebrow at the tenacity of the shapeshifter as he crawled down her leg, then back up her leg after a moment. In his reptilian mouth was a small pen, which he spat out into his scaly foot. The two front feet gripped the pen as he lifted himself up onto his back feet, using his tail to keep his balance. He teetered around for a moment as he adjusted to standing like this.
And then he started dancing with the pen.
Martin and Emelia immediately started giggling more and more as Beast Boy bounced up and down and danced and wiggled his tail at Raven. It was actually hilarious, but the empath knew she couldn't laugh. The car might blow up.
Instead, she looked up at Cyborg in the rear view mirror and pointed at the lizard. "Look, dinner and a show."
"Mmmmmmm!" Cyborg licked his lips. "Maaaan, I love BBQ'd lizard tails!"
The little lizard shot him a horrified look before scrambling up Ravens' arm to hide in her hood. She glared at him, letting him know that she was thinking of throwing him out the window for getting that close to her face. Beast Boy stuck his lizardy tongue out at her.
Emelia, who had stopped giggling, suddenly frowned. "Mommy, why can't I change into animals like daddy?"
Raven opened her mouth to answer and found that she had none. She glanced at Beast Boy, who stared at his little girl for a moment before turning his reptilian head to Raven. He used his tail to tap her on the forehead, then tapped himself on the head with a scaly foot. The empath nodded and concentrated on him.
He twitched and spoke through their new telepathic connection. Can you hear me now? Good!
Raven groaned. Beast Boy, I swear, if you asked me to do this to just to tell me more terrible jokes…
Haha, nah Rae, I kinda sorta have an answer to Emmy's question.
She arched at eyebrow at the lizard. This should be interesting.
Emelia, who could tell her parents were speaking through their minds, waited quietly as they discussed it. After about ten minutes, Raven refocused her attention back on the little girl.
"Your father has an idea about that. He thinks that you can't transform like he can because his powers aren't natural, they were caused by an experimental serum used to save his life from a terrible disease when he was a little older than you."
"Oh." Her disappointment was clearly written on her face, so Raven reached up and rubbed her daughter's head affectionately.
"Your father says don't worry, you might just be a little young for that power to start working, if you have it. It's hard on the body too, he says."
Emelia nodded okay and then left Raven to her thoughts. The empath had ended the telepathic connection moments before. Oddly enough, the disconnection was Beast Boy's idea.
I know ya don't want me knocking around in yer noggin' again, Rae, so cut the connection when you're ready. He had said.
While it was bizarrely mature for him to suggest that, it was downright weird for him to give her as much information about his past as he did. To learn of the source of his powers was a disturbing surprise. To learn that he still carried the disease called Sakutia in his body was a downright nasty surprise. Her worry had been evident in her mental state, which had led Beast Boy into explaining that everything was fine, the disease couldn't leave his body by any means because of the serum and his DNA. It was a part of his very existence at this point and that it would be harmless to anyone else if it was extracted from him.
Something about the way he calmly and clearly explained all of that to her (in greater detail of course) quelled the fears she had. She was safe, Emelia was safe, and he was safe.
"Fra'nok."
Raven turned to look at Martin, who was wistfully staring out the window at his mother as she flew above the car.
"Yes Martin?"
"I wanna fly like momma." The little boy said sadly. Raven shot a glance at Robin, who had turned to listen. There was frown on his face and just as much sadness emanated from him as it did from the little boy. Some time ago Raven and Robin had sat down to discuss the children's powers. While Emmy had displayed several of her mother's powers and none of her fathers, Martin had exhibited nothing at all. It worried Starfire greatly because those of royal blood of her people always showed their powers sooner than the others of her race. He was at the age where he should at least be able to fly.
But he couldn't lift off the ground at all.
Robin's sorrow had been greater than Starfires'. He wanted his little boy to do everything his beloved girlfriend could do; it would bring her so much happiness. Instead, it appeared that Martin would be ordinary like his father. He really would have to train Martin to be able to defend himself.
Raven rubbed the little boy on the head. "Martin, even if you can't fly like your mother, you can learn to fly like your father. He'll teach you everything he knows."
The little red headed and blue eyed boy looked up at her with a sniffle. "Everyfink?"
"Of course, little man!" Cyborg interrupted. "Your dad's one of the best crimefighters this country has ever seen! One day, he'll even take you to meet his dad, Batman!"
Martin tilted his head. "Who's Batterman?"
In the front seat, Robin's frown turned into a smug smile. Batterman, indeed.
"Uncle Cy, what about your mommy and daddy?" Emelia asked, now curious about everyone's parents.
Cyborg was quiet for a moment as he steered them through the town. "Well…my mom passed away a long time ago. My dad works for STAR Laboratory's. He's a scientist."
"That's cool." Emelia smiled then looked to her mother. "What about your mommy and daddy?"
Raven, Cyborg, and Robin were at a loss for words for a moment. How would they explain that Raven's mom was a deceased cultist turned monk and that her father was a multidimensional demonic warlord, also deceased?
Fortunately, Beast Boy had an answer.
He tapped Raven's head with his tail again, drawing her attention. When she looked at him, he made a slicing motion across his lizardy throat. She nodded before speaking to her daughter.
"My mother passed away a long time ago. My…father died last year as well." The empath said slowly.
Emelia tilted her head in thought. "Were they nice?"
Raven replied instantly. "Not at all."
"Oh….what about daddy's mommy and daddy?"
Raven sighed. The girl was persistent about getting information. Just like her father. "Your father's mother and father died a long, long time ago. But then he got a new mommy and daddy."
"He did?!" Emelia's eyes lit up. "Where are they?"
Raven glanced at the lizard on her shoulder, which shrugged. Raven rolled her eyes.
"We're not sure right now. Do you want to meet them?" She asked as she thought 'Typical Beast Boy, can't even keep track of his own socks!'.
Emelia gave her the Face. "Please?"
Beast Boy let out a string of highly amused emotions as Raven groaned. "Fine fine, I'll make your father call them soon."
The little girl squealed in delight.
The rest of the trip was made in relative silence. Martin continued to watch his mother flying as Emelia watched the city pass by. It was only about a thirty minute trip to the city park from the tower, but Cyborg took the long route just for kicks.
As soon as they arrived, Raven phased through the roof and landed next to the driver side back door. She immediately began unstrapping her daughter. Robin made his way to the passenger side door and unstrapped Martin, who started wiggling as soon as the first strap was undone. He could see the playground and could barely contain his joy.
As Raven approached the playground with Emelia in her arms, she paused to glare at the lizard on her shoulder. "Any particular reason why you're still there?"
Beast Boy stuck his tongue out at her again, so she brushed him off. He landed in a crouch, human once more. He chuckled. "Aw, come'on Rae, you know I'm adorable!"
Thankfully, her back was to him so that he couldn't see her flinch as she deadpanned, "Exquisitely so. Now come on."
"Yeah yeah, gimme a minute." He stuck his tongue out at her again, then raced back to the car. Within moments, he returned with an armful of seemingly random items. A beach towel, a picnic basket, a beach ball, a football, a hockey stick, a ukulele, a toilet seat, a scrub brush, a glass bottle, a magnifying glass, a radio, and many more odd items. He set them all down near a bench. Raven, who had just deposited Emelia at the swings, approached and eyeballed the pile.
"And just what is all that for?"
"Anything? Everything?" The changeling smiled. "Whatever we want!"
"Right." The empath rolled her eyes as she sat on the bench, looking bored as Beast Boy took off. She had just happened to glance at the pile of junk when she noticed something sitting on top.
A book.
One of her books, to be exact. A book that had been missing for a few months.
Her eye twitched in irritation as she reached for it and inspected it for damage. It was perfectly fine, other than a little dust on it. She opened it to try to figure out where she was and a little note slipped out. Curious, she picked it up. On it was the terrible scribbles of a certain shapeshifter.
Heya Rae! I'm sure you've been lookin' for this book for a while. Surprise! I hid the book in the picnic closet so that you'd have something to read when we all went out!
But knowing you, it's prolly been months since you've seen this book haha. Yer mad at me now, huh?
Oh well, not the first time or the last time that'll happen!

P.S.-Your page is marked at 142
Raven wasn't sure if she should be mad at him for hiding her book from her or happy that he had been thoughtful enough to make sure she had something new-ish to read on their outings. It was a difficult decision, so she ended up settling on it being an annoying but sweet gesture. She skimmed the pages up until where she was marked and settled into the book to read.
Two chapters later, a voice spoke up beside her.
"Ya know, Raven, everyone else is out there having fun. Why don't you join us?"
The empath glanced up and to the right to find Robin sitting next to her. The caped crusader looked a tad tired and was slightly sweaty.
"You look like you've been on the training course set on medium."
"Yeah, well, it turns out chasing a four year old around a playground is a lot of work." Robin laughed at himself. "He wasn't even worn out at all from avoiding me for thirty minutes."
Raven grinned, just a little. "He's certainly yours' and Stars' son."
Her friend laughed. "That he is. Speaking of kids, Emelia definitely shows her being yours' and Beast Boys'."
She quirked an eyebrow at him. "How so?"
"Just look at her." Robin gestured out to the playground. Emelia was on the playset, inspecting a set of rotating blocks on poles on the second story of it. After a few seconds, she started spinning them around and making matching patterns. After she made all the combinations, she stuck her head around the fence to inspect the rear side, then moved back in front. A few moments later and she had a matching pattern on either side. Raven's grin turned into a small smile.
"She's dangerously smart, I'll give her that."
Robin slid a mischievous look her way. "She shows plenty of Beast Boy in her too. Is he holding up as a father in your eyes?"
"Of course." Raven replied instantly. "I didn't think he would be quite so good at it, but he's being absolutely remarkable at it. He's almost perfectly gotten her habits and mannerisms down to pat, he always keeps an eye on her, even if he's playing a game, he responds to her needs instantly, he changes her clothes when they get dirty…he does all kinds of things for her. He's such a warm and attentive father that it's almost bizarre to think that this is the jokester of the team. But out of everything he does... he's there when she needs him. It's a very admirable trait to have in a parent. Just look at him now, he climbed up onto the playset to sit and spin the blocks with her for no other reason than to do it."
She paused for a moment, leaning forward to perch her head in her hand as she sighed wistfully. "If he would improve some of his own messier habits, I'd say he'd be making a nearly perfect father."
"So you're saying that he makes a great father for your kid?"
"Of course, he's…" Raven trailed off, before turning to glare at the grinning hero beside her.
Her deathly glare did nothing to deter him. "What? It was just a question."
"Don't you start that too!" She snapped. "It's bad enough that Emelia does it, I don't need to listen to it from you as well!"
Robin smiled innocently. "I have no idea what you're talking about, Raven."
She rolled her eyes and picked her book back up. "Whatever."
As soon as the chuckling traffic light walked away, Raven looked up from her book to watch Beast Boy and Emelia. They were currently swinging back and forth on the monkey bars, with the changeling in the shape of a ring tailed lemur. He was keeping pace behind Emelia, watching to make sure that she could handle it. Sadly, she only got about a quarter of the way before she slipped.
A pair of green monkey legs wrapped around her as Beast Boy shifted into a chimpanzee. He then proceeded to swing across the bars until he reached the other side. Setting her down, he immediately started praising her for making it all the way across.
The little girl looked up at him skeptically. "But daddy, I fell."
He shook his head. "It only counts as falling if you touch the ground."
Her eyes lit up. "Really?"
"Yup!"
She practically squealed in joy, then ran off to tell Martin what she had done. Soon enough, the little red headed boy was clambering up the bars, his father right behind him. Robin watched his son struggle with the first bar before the little boy took off across them, leaving a surprised Titan behind him. Wide eyed, Robin swung as quickly as he could to catch up to the laughing child.
As Martin reached for the last bar, he sneezed and lost his grip. He flailed forward and Robin was certain his head would hit first.
Well, it would have if Starfire hadn't of snatched the little boy out of the air. She spun him around, laughing.
"Glorious, my bumgorf! You have beaten your k'norfa across the bars of the monkey!"
"I did?" Martins' eyes got wide.
"Indeed, little one!" Starfire kissed his head as the boy started giggling uncontrollably.
"Nuncle Cy, Nuncle Cy!" He called out. Cyborg looked up from near the swing, three kids dangling from each arm. Martin pointed at his father. "I beated papa across the monkey bars!"
"You did?!" Cyborg's jaw dropped before he turned a wry grin to his team leader. "Looks like someone isn't training enough!"
Grumbling to himself, Robin sat down on the end of a slide. "I'll show you 'not training enough', you blasted robot, just you wait. I'll get you tomorrow."
Starfire set her son down and watched him run off to climb on his uncle like the other kids. Smiling to herself, she joined Robin on the slide.
"Boyfriend Robin, this is most wonderful." She said before kissing his cheek. The now red-faced Boy Wonder nodded briefly before he took her hand in his.
"He's so much like you, Star." Robin murmured. "So full of life and energy."
"I believe he is more like you." She leaned against him. "He is strong and clever and sweet. He will grow into a wonderful warrior one day."
The caped crusader turned to his girlfriend. "Just like his mother."
Starfire's face turned the same shade as her hair as Robin leaned up and kissed her. It was a brief kiss, but just what each of them needed at that moment.
A strange sound filled the air suddenly, making the bashful couple look up. Beast Boy had pulled out a small instrument from the pile of stuff near Raven and was strumming it while sitting on a swing. Robin recognized it as a ukulele, but had no idea that they even had one.
The children, various ages, ethnicity, and sizes, all heard the sound and came flocking to the green teen to see what he was doing. He smiled at all the children.
"Heya! You guys wanna hear a song?"
The children cheered and he couldn't help but to laugh. Emelia and Martin pushed their way to the front.
"Daddy! Play 'Over the Rainbow'!"
"'Over the Rainbow', eh? You been watching The Wizard of Oz with Uncle Cy again?"
"Man, I got no idea what you're talking about." Cyborg huffed and turned his red face skyward. Several women, the mothers of children scattered about the crowd, giggled.
Beast Boy laughed and started playing the instrument in his hands. If he had looked around again, he would have noticed Raven look up from her book as he started singing in a soft and non-squeaky voice that was far different from his usual tone.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
And the dreams that you dreamed of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Blue birds fly
And the dreams that you dreamed of
Dreams really do come true ooh oh
Someday I'll wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top
That's where you'll find me
Oh, somewhere over the rainbow
Blue birds fly
And the dream that you dare to,
Oh why, oh why can't I?
Well I see trees of green and red roses too,
I'll watch them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Well I see skies of blue
And I see clouds of white
And the brightness of day
I like the dark
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people passing by
I see friends shaking hands
Singing, "How do you do?"
They're really singing, "I, I love you."
Raven was absolutely shell shocked. Not only was Beast Boy singing, he was singing well. In fact, the song had spread to everyone in attendance and they were all singing along. The kids had paired off and were dancing with each other. Emelia and Martin were dancing, hand in hand, around the changeling as he sung. Robin, sitting next to Starfire, was quietly singing it as well, with Starfire's hands in his. The alien princess's face as was as red as her hair and she was trying to sing along as well. Cyborg had a dopey grin on his face as he bobbed back and forth, singing along. Fixit was standing in the middle of a group of dancing kids, curiosity making him observe them closely. He still didn't understand humans very well, so this was an excellent learning opportunity for him.
Beast Boy happened to glance up at this time and caught her staring at him open mouthed. He gave her a smile left a tightening pressure in her chest as he turned back to the children. The empath could only stare at the sight before her as a thought passed through her mind.
Is this really Beast Boy in front of me?
Things are getting a little interesting, eh? I liked this chapter 'cause I could honestly seeing Beast Boy doing everything I depicted him doing lol. It also addresses the children a little better, including the mischievous Emelia. :3
