Surprise! ~Foamy
When he woke up, Beast Boy had the strangest feeling that today was going to be a good day. Emelia had stayed with Raven last night, which meant he had got to stay up a little latter playing Earthbound. He loved the game more than any of the others and had already played around forty hours of it. He didn't particularly care for Ness and Paula was a weird name for a girl, but Alex and Poo were kinda cool. He spent a lot of time grinding levels and getting gear too. He wasn't quite finished with the game but he wasn't far from it.
All in all, he literally couldn't be happier with his birthday present.
The changeling rolled over in his bed, savoring the emptiness. Its not that having Emmy sleep with him was bad, but she kicked like a horse and had a habit of drooling in her sleep. He wasn't sure were she got that trait from, but it most certainly was not from him.
He glanced up at the alarm clock on his nightstand. 9:42. Wow, it's still early. The boy thought groggily to himself. Better get up now or Rae will have my head.
This was an amusing thought for a moment before it went south. When he realized what was going on, he decided a cold shower was in order. He did not need to be thinking like that around Raven.
Besides, it's her fault for being so hot.
One quick and cold shower later…
"Maaaan, I'm starving!" Beast Boy whined to no one in particular as he wandered down the hallway towards the common room. Judging from the sounds and smells, breakfast was already over. While it was a little disheartening, it also meant he didn't have to argue with Cy about the terribleness of meat this morning.
The common room door opened and just as he opened his mouth to greet everyone, a little voice called out.
"Daddy's awake!"
A grin found a way onto his face. Sure, he was only seventeen. Sure, he was a superhero. And yeah, he never kissed a girl (let alone done anything dirty). But the truth was that he loved being called daddy more than anything. It always left him with this warm feeling that mixed with pride and happiness, it always brought a smile to his and put a spring in his step, and it most certainly made him think that this is what his dad felt like every morning while he lived.
"'Morning guys!" He called out.
"It's about time you got up." Herald chuckled before taking a sip of his coffee. Red Star waved at him from the couch.
As Beast Boy rolled his eyes he just happened to notice a scowling Cyborg hand Raven a five dollar bill. He gave them a questioning look, to which Raven responded with the faintest of smirks.
"He bet you wouldn't be up for another hour." She said, glancing at her brother. "And I said you'd be up before ten."
The changeling chuckled. "Sorry dude, but if you had tried that six months ago you'da won."
Grumbling quietly to himself, Cyborg stomped over to the couch. "Not my fault she's got you whipped."
Both changeling and younger empath heard this. They exchanged confused glances and shrugs, not really knowing what he had meant by 'whipped'. Raven, having heard nothing, resumed reading, feeling pretty good about herself. She knew Beast Boy had been slowly tweaking his sleeping habits over the past couple of months just so that he could get up around the time everyone else did. It was a thoughtful gesture since Emelia enjoyed eating breakfast with both of her parents. Granted, he still took gaming nights every now and then, which lead to late mornings like this one, but that was okay in her book.
Six months ago she would have frowned at the thought and said it was a waste of time to play video games, especially all night. But now that she actually watched people play, she could sort of understand the appeal.
Take, for instance, watching Beast Boy play Earthbound last night. There was actually a fair bit of sarcastic humor in the dialogue and the story telling was better than she thought it would be. She pointed this out to him and he told her that it was because this was a RPG, a role playing game. They're built specifically for telling a story and making you train and develop characters. The games she had previously seen him play (before the super Nintendo) were racing games and 'button mashers', which were pretty much smoosh everything in sight.
This had made the older empath think. A game built around telling a story didn't actually sound that bad. She did love a good story, after all. She only had two other experiences with video games; the first time was when the changeling had glued her hands to a controller. She hadn't played, of course, but it made an effective club to whack him upside the head (it made a very satisfying BONK noise). The other time was when he had dragged her and Emelia into GameStop and showed them some puzzle games on something called a Nintendo DS.
Emelia had pounced on the game without hesitation (she was definitely her father's daughter in that regard) while her father had wandered the store. Raven had watched the girl go through a dozen puzzles before getting stuck. As the little girl got more and more frustrated with the game, her other eyes opened and she had started making some rather aggravated noises. Knowing just what would happen if Emelia destroyed the game had prompted her mother-figure to intervene. Raven solved the puzzle right away, along with every one after. Emelia, delighted her mommy was playing too, had helped. When Beast Boy had gotten back around to them, Raven had held the system up and informed him that they were running out of puzzles.
Raven was of the opinion that she had frightened him with that, just a little.
Back in the present, Raven amused herself with the notion of finding a video game to play. She could probably ask her crush and get dozens of answers. Said boy was currently cooking himself tofu eggs and tofu bacon. It wasn't a particularly pleasant smell, but it wasn't awful. She watched him discreetly, peering over the top of her book at his backside. He was humming some song to himself as he bounced back and forth on front of the stove. She could feel the happiness radiating off the boy like rays from the sun. It was warm and joyful, gentle but energetic.
But there was also something buried just below those feelings. Something…strong. Whatever it was gave her goosebumps whenever he happened to glance her way. She always hid behind her book, of course. What would she say if he had caught her?
Oh, I know! Rude said suddenly. Sorry, I was checkin' out yer as-
That's enough of that, Rude. Raven mentally sighed. Don't start that this early.
Oh, so you wanna check him out later after he's all sweaty and stuff, showing off those muscles of his? Came the sarcastic reply.
Did someone say muscles and sweat? Brave piped up.
Raven groaned. No Brave, go away.
The sound of the dark green emoticlone pouting could be heard echoing in her mind as the orange one chuckled. Raven rolled her eyes and called out to another. Knowledge, just when I start liking musc-
A sudden buzzing noise stopped her mid-sentence. Coming back to reality, Raven saw Beast Boy had pulled his off duty phone from his pocket. The empath snorted in annoyance as she returned to her book, her inner monologue forgotten. She didn't read much before she felt the confusion rolling off her crush.
Lowering her book, she looked at the boy before her. "Problem?"
He glanced at her, then his phone while chewing his lip. Eventually he shrugged and held it up to her. It took her a moment to realize it was a text message from Rose.
Hey BB! Is Raven free today? I was thinkin we could hang out a bit before I work..
Raven looked up at her crush incredulously. "Is she serious?"
He shrugged. "She's kinda like you, Rae. She doesn't ask pointless questions."
A certain orange emoticlone huffed. What the f-
Rude! Knowledge gasped.
-k does she want? She continued unperturbed. Ain't nobody got time for that hussy.
That was a good question, Raven agreed silently. Out loud she spoke and shrugged. "Tell her I'll meet her at the coffee shop from last time."
"Last time?" Beast Boy asked confusedly.
Raven shrugged his question off. "Yeah. I suppose I should get to know your girlfriend better if we're going to see her more often."
"But…" The changeling started, but was interrupted.
"Mommy, you're gonna go hang out with Miss Rose?" Emmy asked as she tugged on her mothers cloak.
"Mmhmm."
"Okaaaay. I hope she plays nice with you." Emmy giggled mischievously.
Raven quirked an eye at her daughter. Play nice?
It didn't take the empath long to fly to the coffee shop. Only about thirty minutes as the raven flies, give or take a few minutes. As she landed several civilians saw her and called out greetings to the dark Titan. She waved back and stepped into the store.
Looking around, she noted that the other girl wasn't there yet. And while she wasn't particularly thirsty, it would be rude to sit around and not buy anything. She ended up getting a small chai tea and a macadamia nut cookie with the five dollars she won from Cyborg.
As she sipped the extremely aromatic tea, she let her mind wander. She wasn't particularly positive as to what the other girl wanted, but she was willingly to associate with her on occasion if it kept her crush happy.
You know, we could drop her off somewhere that she'll never be found. A certain dark green emoticlone whispered in her mind. She ignored it and nibbled on her cookie.
It was a bright and sunny summer day outside. A little hot for her liking, but she could deal with it since there was a slight breeze. The clouds lazily drifted by as she sipped her tea, savoring the flavor as it mixed with her pastry. There was a normal amount of hustle and bustle from the civilians, with more than a few pausing to wave at her. It was actually kind of nice considering that a few years ago people avoided her like the plague. Today actually would have been a good day to go to the park with Emelia and Beast Boy, she realized with a soft smile. Granted, she would have just sat on a bench and read, but the time together still would have been nice. Raven hadn't ridden in his car yet either, so she was hoping he was a good driver.
Cyborg trusted his driving, so it couldn't be that bad.
"Raven!"
The empath looked up to find her rival walking towards her. Rose looked slightly out of breath and her aura said she was a bit irritated. Her white hair was slightly askew, her black tank top and her orange miniskirt were a tad wrinkled. It was almost as if she rushed there.
"Sorry, damn taxi driver was milking the ride over." Rose huffed irritatedly.
Raven shrugged. "It's fine, I was enjoying my tea and cookie."
Rose looked around. "You wanna hang here or go somewhere else?"
"Doesn't matter to me." Raven shrugged once more. Rose rolled her eyes and plopped into the chair opposite the empath. Raven slightly smirked at the other girls' slight annoyance. "So what did you want to talk about?"
"Beast Boy, mostly." Rose grinned.
"What about him?"
"Well to start with, I want to thank you."
"For…?"
The white haired girls' grin grew. "For talking him into working out more. That new uniform looks great on him with that six pack he's got."
Raven quirked an eyebrow at the other girl. "I didn't do that. I thought he did it for you."
Rose shook her head. "I never said anything to him about it. I liked him the way he was before. This is just icing on the cake."
The empath tilted her head slightly in acknowledgement. "I'll concede to that point. It does make him look more mature, which I never thought possible."
"Mmhhmmm." Rose said distractedly. She was silent for a few minutes before a feeling of nervousness began to emanate from her. When she spoke, it was cautiously. "Hey Raven…would you get mad if I slept with Beast Boy?"
Raven quirked an eyebrow once more. "No? Why would I?"
The other girl fidgeted in her seat a little, obviously wary of the sorceress. "Cause you like him too?"
"So? I've slept with him, why would it bother me if you did?" Raven said nonchalantly, only to watch the other girls' jaw drop.
"You have?!" Rose exclaimed.
Raven's eyebrow rose higher. "Yes? What does it matter?"
Rise shook her head. "Well, it doesn't. Not really. I mean, you guys have that tower all to yourselves with no supervision, so I really shouldn't be surprised."
What is she talking about? Raven thought to herself. Rose excitedly leaned forward.
"So tell me what he was like! Is he slow and gentle or rough and rowdy? Oh wait, what kind of stamina are we talking? Is he an all-nighter or a one pump chump? Wait wait wait, does he bite? He looks like a biter. No, I wanna know how big he is!"
Raven, while quite confused, answered as best as she could. "He can be gentle or hard to handle at random times. Depends on his mood, really. Stamina-wise, he can keep up a sprint for a good while. He's pulled scores of all-nighters playing games. Other times he passes out within the first thirty minutes of a game, but don't ask me why because I don't know. He's never bitten me, but I've seen him bite Cyborg for trying to throw his tofu away. As for his size…he looks like he's about five foot four now, give or take an inch or two, and somewhere around one hundred sixty pounds, if I'm guessing correctly."
Rose stared at her dumbly for a few seconds before speaking slowly. "Uh…Raven? What are you talking about?"
The violet haired girl stared at her incredulously. "What am I talking about? What are you talking about? I answered your questions."
"Raven." Rose shook her head. "I wasn't talking about sleeping with BB. I was talking about sleeping with BB."
The empath stared at the girl in front of her intently, trying to get a read on just what she was saying. She shifted through the other girls' emotions until she found…
Oh.
Rose was completely unprepared for Raven's reaction. Every nearby iron chair and table became swathed in dark magic and crumpled to the size of marbles as a deep crimson blush filled the empaths face. Lightbulbs blew out and a nearby fire hydrant suddenly exploded. The remainder of Raven's tea evaporated in her cup as the tile floor around them cracked.
"That answers a lot of questions." Rose commented dryly.
"Are you insane?!" Raven hissed, fury filling her face. "Why would you ask me such questions?!"
"I wouldn't have asked if you hadn't of said you slept with him!"
"That's not what I meant!"
Rose rolled her eyes and spoke sarcastically. "Oh, really? I hadn't noticed."
"Don't start with me, you pervert!"
"Pervert? How am I a pervert for being attracted to a boy?"
Raven scowled. "You're a pervert for wanting to have premarital relations with a boy!"
Rose returned that scowl tenfold. "What are you, some kind of nun?"
Despite the fact that she was thinking of how she was raised by the monks of Azarath, Raven shook her head vehemently. "No, but-"
"No buts, Raven. Especially about something you don't know about."
This caused the empath to visibly bristle with anger. "Excuse me? Are you calling me ignorant?"
"Well, if the boot fits, wear it!" Rose spat. Raven's eyes flared with even more anger and she opened her mouth, but Rose cut her off. "Don't even, Raven. You quite obviously don't know a damned thing about being held."
Raven's anger faded marginally as a mite of confusion wormed its way into her mind. "I've been hugged before!"
Rose shook her head. "Not like that. I can look at you and tell that you don't know. You don't know what its like to be held in his arms after making love all night. You don't know what its like to wake up with your head on his chest and to listen to his heart beat. Not only beat, but to beat for you. You don't know what its like to wake up and hear him say Good morning beautiful. You don't know the passion behind a kiss. You don't know what its like to have his hands running through your hair and his lips on your neck, growling your name. You don't know what its like to feel be wanted more than anything life has to offer."
Raven stared at the girl, who was staring at the table between them, lost in thought. The empath could now feel the hole left in Rose's heart, one she dearly wanted to fill. Her anger slowly began to dissipate.
After a few minutes of silence, she sighed softly. "You're right. I don't know about those kinds of things. I spent most of my life being forced to lock away my emotions and being made to avoid touching people because it could cause a reaction with my powers. I've never had the luxury to be able to think or feel these kinds of things. It could hurt people."
Rose looked up with a small frown and a raised eyebrow. "Then how do you expect to have a relationship with him?"
Raven looked at her confusedly. "Beg pardon?"
"I can look at BB and tell he's the physically affectionate type." Rose shrugged. "He's going to want hugs, he's going to want to kiss, he's going to want to cuddle, touch, rub, everything. He knows he's not the best with words and that his mouth runs, so he'll try to make up for it by neck rubs, foot massages, heck, massaging whatever you want. It's just who he is. Just like Eddie."
Raven tilted her head slightly. "Eddie?"
Rose gave a small shrug and looked away. "My ex. He and Beast Boy are pretty similar."
The empath found herself without anything to say. The scars on Rose's heart were deep, just like the ones on herself and Beast Boy. Raven found herself sympathizing with the girl, even if Jealousy was scowling in her mind.
"I don't understand." Raven said slowly. "The last time we spoke, you told me your relationship was platonic. Why the change now?"
Rose shrugged half-heartedly. "A girl gets lonely, you know?"
Raven really couldn't argue against that. After all, her loneliness is how a certain dragon manipulated her…
"Can you touch him?"
Raven was jerked back to reality with this question. "Beg pardon?"
Rose rolled her eyes. "You heard me. Can you touch him?"
It took a moment for the violet haired girl to find her voice. "I…yes. At least, a little bit."
"Well…why don't you listen to his heart once or twice and tell me how it feels?" The white haired girl said firmly. "Then you'll know what I'm talking about."
Raven was appalled. "I can't do that, he's your boyfriend!"
Rose shook her head. "Look, we're no…"
Her eyes narrowed as she trailed off, her stare locked on something behind Raven. Said empath turned around to only see the trailing locks of long blonde hair and the backside of a thin girl disappearing into the women's restroom. Raven turned back to her rival.
"Friend of yours?" She asked.
The other girl shook her head with a scowl. "Nope, just a trouble-making little bitch. As long as she keeps her distance, we'll be fine."
"I could just drop her in another dimension for a few minutes." Raven offered unexpectedly, surprising herself and the other girl. Though truthfully, she was glad the topic changed.
Rose chuckled and shook her head. "Nah, don't need another Control Freak incident."
There was a grin on Raven's face for about three seconds before it was replaced with a look of horror. Rose's eyebrow rose. "What?"
"I forgot about Control Freak." The empath said in a small voice.
Rose's eyes nearly popped out of her skull. "You what?! Get him out of there!"
A wave of Raven's hand and a fat man in a trench coat dropped out of a portal several feet off the ground. He landed with a thud, his disheveled hair flying wildly in all directions. His eyes were extremely bloodshot and he was trembling.
Rose gently reached a hand out and shook him. "Eugene? Are you okay?"
The villain known as Control Freak jerked his head to the side to stare at her as he spoke in a hushed whisper. "Do you have any idea what I've seen?"
Raven and Rose exchanged glances before looking at him and shaking their heads together.
He wrapped his arms around himself as best as he could and began rocking back and forth. He spoke in a horrified tone as he did so.
"Foamsatmouth made me watch horrible things. Dragonball Evolution, M. Night Shamalyns The Last Airbender, the Super Mario Bros movie, Boku no Pico, movies with Will Ferrel in them, six hours of Teletubbies, the Nicholas Cage Ghost Rider movie, all three Toby Maguire Spiderman movies, and even the Chipmunk movies!" He looked up at them. "Don't you understand the horrible things I've seen?! The horror! THE HORROR!"
As the terrified fat man continued his ranting, Raven nudged the other girl. "What's he talking about?"
"I have no idea."
Raven spent the next thirty minutes healing the villains' mind of the 'horrid' things he'd seen. She had no idea whole this Foamsatmouth guy was, but he sounded like an incredibly sadistic individual who like to torment people's minds.
Afterwards, a very shaken Control Freak slunk off, muttering something about how he'd never steal Foamys script again. The two girls still had no idea what he was talking about, so they let him go. Not long after that Rose left, saying that she had a short shift at work. She also said that if Raven felt like it that they could hang out again. The empath replied with 'If I have the time'. She certainly wouldn't mind gleaming a bit more information from the other girl, even if it did perturb her at times.
This solitude left Raven to ponder the things Rose had said.
Could she touch Beast Boy without her powers going berserk? What would happen if she held his hand? She had hugged him a couple of times and nothing happened. What does that mean? She had kissed him and nothing had happened too. That was a fairly intimate thing to do, so shouldn't something have happened? Why didn't anything break? Granted, she still had no idea why she kissed him. It just came out of nowhere, an impulse that overwhelmed her in the blink of an eye.
Rubbing her now aching temples, the empath decided it was time to go home.
Thankfully, her emotions decided to play the quiet game during her flight back. She was quite grateful, though she knew they'd be acting up again before long.
Thirty minutes later, she approached the tower from the air, intending to land on the room and go inside. At the last moment, however, she was struck by a rather odd idea. She wanted to see what the others were doing while she had been gone. Above the stairs on the roof, she assumed her lotus position.
"Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos." She chanted before her soul self separated from her body and descended through the structure.
She opened her mind to her empathy, letting it show her where everyone was. Beast Boy and Emelia were in the common room while Red Star, Herald, and Cyborg were in the training room. Fixit was in the basement as usual. The boys training seemed quite riled up, so she decided to investigate. She was greeted by the sounds of combat.
It was Cyborg vs Herald in hand to hand, the larger young man trying to overcome the swift boxer with brute strength. Heavy swing after heavy swing, the cybernetic man tried to hit the smaller to no avail. Herald was simply too quick. The masked boy, on the other hand, simply didn't have the strength to deter Cyborg.
Until his lightning quick fist hit a joint perfectly, sending Cyborgs arm clattering to the ground.
"Looks like I've disarmed you, Cy." Herald chuckled. "Give up while you can, man."
"It's just a scratch!" Cyborg retorted.
"A scratch? Your arms off!"
"No it isn't."
Herald pointed at the inert limb. "Then what's that?"
Cyborg looked at it and shrugged. "I've had worse."
"You're a bad liar, Cy."
"Come on, jazz hands!" Cyborg shouted as he charged his opponent once more. Herald, now knowing where Cy's weak points were, leapt clean over the charging man and snapped his fist out.
As an off balanced Cyborg stumbled away, his other arm fell off.
"Looks like my win." The boxer chuckled as he turned to the Russian. "You're u-OW!"
He whipped around, rubbing his butt where Cyborg had kicked him.
"Come on bro, we ain't finished yet!" The cybernetic man shouted. Growling to himself at his friends' stubbornness, Herald took a step forward.
"Just give up, man! You've got no arms left!" He yelled back.
"Yes I have!"
"No, you don't!" Herald shouted, pointing at his friends motionless limbs. "Look!"
"It's just flesh wound!" Cyborg said stubbornly before he kicked Herald once more.
Both impressed and frustrated with his friend, Herald retaliated with a flurry of punches and kicks. Those were just a distraction though, he was looking for a similar weak point on the legs.
Which he found shortly after.
"I'll kick your butt for that!" Cyborg shouted as he hopped around on one leg. "Come here!"
His hopping made him bump into Herald over and over again as he tried to knock the smaller guy over. Herald simply shook his head.
"You're one crazy dude." He said.
"No, I'm Cyborg! I'm inviinnnccciibblleee!" Cyborg shouted.
Thirty seconds later he was on the floor, limbless.
"Alright, how about we call it a draw?" He asked with a straight face. Herald facepalmed while Red Star doubled over with laughter.
Raven turned away from the scene with a wry grin on her shadowy face. Cyborg always had to be the winner, even when he lost.
The ethereal girl made her way to the common room, figuring that neither occupant would notice. A soul makes no noise and has no smell, so enhanced senses mean nothing. Emelia might pick up on it with her own empathic powers, but Raven doubted it. She had never used this ability in front of her, so the little girl wouldn't know it's her.
As she reached the floor above the common room, she paused to focus on the forms below her. They were focused on something intently. It wasn't a video game, their auras weren't a flurry of excitement. It wasn't a movie, they weren't in awe or amused. What are they doing? She wondered as she floated down through the floor.
"Hagrid looked at Harry with such warmth and respect blazing in his eyes, but Harry, instead of feeling pleased and proud, felt quite sure there had been a horrible mistake. A wizard? Him? How could that possibly be? He'd spent his life being clouted by Dudley-"
Raven absolutely speechless.
Sitting on the couch below her was Beast Boy reading a Harry Potter book to Emelia!
How did this happen? Why? Did Cyborg put him up to this? Emelia? She hadn't planned on reading those books to her daughter just yet, but here Garfield was, reading away with seemingly no issues! What in Azar's name is going on here?!
These questions and two score more filled the empaths head to the brim, worsening her headache. Down below her, Beast Boy continued reading until they reached the end of the chapter. When the last word was read, he picked up a small green rubber sprout from the table in front of them and marked his page with it. He turned to Emelia with a big smile on his face.
"So, whatcha think so far?" He asked his daughter.
"I like it, daddy!" Emmy giggled. "I like the funny voices you do too!"
Beast Boy chuckled and rubbed her head. "That's great, but remember, don't tell mommy."
The little girl looked up at him with big curious eyes. "Whhhhyyyy?"
"'Cause I wanna read all these books to you first. Then we can tell mommy."
"Whhhhhhyyyyyyyy?"
A soft smile found its way on his face as his eyes softened just as much. "I think it might mommy smile."
Emmy tilted her head. "You really like mommy's smile, huh?"
"There's no smile in the universe like your mom's, Emmy." Beast Boy rubbed his daughters head affectionately once more. "Now go put this up before she gets back."
"Okaaaaay!" The little said as she grabbed the book and scampered away.
Raven wasn't sure just how long she sat on the roof, replaying his words in her mind.
I think it might make mommy smile.
There's no smile in the universe like your mom's, Emmy.
While it was true that he had spent years fighting to make her smile, Raven never had an inkling as to why he wanted to accomplish such a feat. But upon hearing that, the violet eyed girl found herself questioning all the things they had been through. All the fights, the arguing, the teasing, picking each other up when they were down. Was it possible he already felt something for her before all this happened? Is that why he had asked 'Is it with me or with me with me' those months ago? Had her refusal to acknowledge her feelings destroyed her chances with the boy that quite possibly cared for her more than anyone? Affection was the one emotion that Raven had avoided for years, even if she allowed her to influence the empaths' actions every now and then. It had never been worth risking hurting someone just for a bit of supposed happiness.
I think it might make mommy smile.
There's no smile in the universe like your mom's, Emmy.
Those words made her heart hurt so very much. The only other person to say something about her like that was that lying dragon Malchior. Of the hundreds of people she had been around in the past few years, none had shown any sort of true attraction to her. Even that goth guy hadn't attempted to woo her, despite how well they had hit it off. She would have brushed them off if any had been attracted to her, but still…
Beep beep beep beep!
With her head and heart aching so much she almost missed her communicator going off.
Raven took several deep, calming breaths to steady herself. Resuming her standard monotone and blank face, she flipped the device open. "Raven here."
Beast Boy's face appeared on the screen. "Raven! Aqualad just called, he needs some backup out near the Mariana Trench. Triton is back and he brought friends."
The sorceress nodded. "I'll be right there."
She snapped the communicator shut and stood. The view over the bay was beautiful, the sparkling waters glimmering in the sunlight as a warm summer breeze blew through the air. It was strange how she had never looked at it like this before.
Perhaps one day, when his relationship with Rose was over, she could bring Beast Boy up here to talk about things she had never noticed before.
