With Frenemies Like You, Who Needs Supervillians?
Stan the security guard was a person who legitimately liked his job. He got a decent paycheck and flexible hours that let him pick up a part time job for some extra cash. He got to see lots of cute girls and, being in pretty decent shape and somewhat handsome, land a few dates here and there. He even got to be the cool rent-a-cop from time to time and handcuff supervillains after the Teen Titans beat them up. To him, life was good. It was simple. It was easy.
But today he had no clue how to respond to what he was seeing.
It was, in fact, something that was very easy to comprehend: a girl with long white hair had been wrapped up in one of the mall banners and suspended a few feet off the ground via other tied banners. She was wrapped up to her nose and was blinking furiously at him. There was a piece of cardboard (where it came from was beyond him) on a string hanging from this girls neck which read: Test Piñata! Beat me til I Break!
Surrounding this girl was a small horde of children, each with what appeared to be a dowel rod in their hands. He wondered where they got those until he spied an umbrella stand (the tubular kind) with a dozen more rods and a smaller sign on it that read Free Piñata Sticks!
This girl was going to have a really bad day if he didn't step in.
"Alright kids, I gotta ask you to put those down." He said as he stepped up and pushed past some people standing by. They looked more amused than anything, which disturbed Stan greatly. Several were taking pictures and undoubtedly uploading to Facebook©.
"Awww!" Several kids whined.
"But the purple lady told us it was full of candy!"
"By I've never got to play with a Piñata before!"
"Mooooooooooom!"
"That's not a Piñata, that's a person!" Stan scowled. "Can't you see her eyes moving?"
"The purple lady said its anima…animatical." One boy said uncertainly.
Stan raised an eyebrow at the boy as he finally reached them. "Animatronic?"
"Yeah! It moves and and makes noise but its not real!"
Stan snorted as he checked out the banner the girl was wrapped in. It was tight and the only knot he could see wasn't something he could get his fingers in to untie. That only left him with one option.
"Ma'am." He said. "I'm going to have to cut you free and then we're going to have a talk about who did this to you, cause this is destruction of private property and I'm not taking the blame."
She made a rather muffled noise that sounded like yeah yeah, so he pulled out his knife and started carefully cutting away at the knot. It would take him several minutes to cut through, but when it was done and she dropped to the floor he realized who she was.
"Rose?!"
"Hey Stan." Rose said nonchalantly as she stretched. "Thanks for the hand, those kids are brutal."
"What the heck were you doing up there to begin with?!"
"Just hanging around." She smirked before glaring at the surrounding (disappointed) children. "Scram before I find a belt."
They all bolted, their sticks hitting the ground with a loud clatter. With snort, Rose turned and started walking away.
"Wait, Rose, you gotta tell me what happened!" Stan called out.
"It was a supervillain!" She replied, not looking back. "He went the other way!"
Stan hesitated. He had come from that direction and didn't recall seeing any bad guys, which meant that Rose was outright lying. He needed to get her and take her to the security off right away to figure out what was going on.
Unfortunately for him, Rose disappeared into the crowd.
The girl in question had already forgotten Stan the security guard as she stomped her way through the mall, mildly irritated with how things had turned out. She honestly hadn't expected Raven to do that, to tie her up with banners and leave her hanging. She figured that Raven would have dumped her in the bay like she did with Beast Boy when she was mad at him. A good soaking would have been the perfect excuse for the day to be over.
And for Rose to stop getting attached to the Titan girls.
She couldn't stop the exasperated sigh from tumbling from her lips. She was having fun today and it was a bad thing. She didn't need to get attached to these girls just like she didn't need to get attached to Beast Boy beforehand. She just needed to do her job and leave. No attachments, no friends, so no loose ends. She was a professional and needed to stay that way. After all, getting attached was how all this shit started to begin with.
Don't be such a stick in the mud, Rosie-Posie. Live a little.
She came to an abrupt stop and whipped her head around, looking for the source of that familiar voice with that much-hated nickname. But no matter which way she looked, the red boy she so desperately missed was no where in sight.
"I must be going crazy." Rose muttered to herself as she started walking again.
Yeah, you are crazy. But you're my favorite kind of crazy.
She shook her head as she finally realized that the voice was simply a memory from a long time ago. As much as she needed to hear his voice, she also didn't want to hear it. He would be so disappointed in her and it was an unbearable thought. She just needed to forget him and everything and get the job done and make sure her father could never get his hands on the kids. Then, and only then, could she go be by herself.
You know, Rose…you don't have to be alone.
"Shut up." She growled to herself, drawing the stare of a couple she passes by. She never noticed.
Shut don't go up, cars go fast, take my advice and kiss my a-
"Oh my freaking god, Eddie, could you be any more immature?!" Rose snapped.
About two seconds later she realized she said that out loud and now there were a lot of people staring at her. She flipped them off and kept walking.
It wouldn't kill you to say sorry every once in a while, babe.
Rose sighed. She knew she would never win against this. Eddie had been the only person to ever make her feel guilty about being a bitch and now her freaking conscience was going to drive her nuts using his voice.
"Might as well check myself into the nuthouse." She muttered as she retrieved her phone from her purse. She had placed a tracker chip on Raven a little while ago and now, it seems, was the perfect opportunity to use it. She was in the dead center of the outdoor food court seating. Why she was there was beyond her, but whatever.
That's my girl.
"Shut up." Rose muttered again as she changed course once more.
"Azarath Metrion Zinthos…"
"Hey!"
"Azarath-"
"Raven!"
"Zinthos…"
"Azarath-"
"Bitch, do not ignore me!"
"You know, Rose, talking out loud to yourself is a sign of insanity." Raven replied monotonously, never once opening her eyes or unfolding from her floating lotus position in the middle of a cleared space in the outdoor food court.
"I'm trying to apologize!" Rose snapped.
"That I find hard to believe."
"Well you better believe it 'cause I damn well don't do it very often!"
Raven finally opened one eye and gazed at the girl before, noting that the agitation in her emotional spectrum matched that of the agitation on her face. Her feelings were genuine, that was for certain, but there was something lurking beneath them as well.
She said nothing. She merely waited and watched until Rose huffed.
"I'm not sorry for what I did, but…I am sorry that it made you mad."
"Mad is a mild understatement, Rose. Furious would be more akin to the emotion I felt. Betrayed also comes to mind." Now she opened the other eye so she could properly glare at the girl in front of her. "You are all beyond lucky that I maintained control while that was going on."
"Why the hell would you feel betrayed? All that happened was-" Rose started to say before Raven interrupted her.
"I know what happened Rose, but the fact of the matter is that you tossed my trust to the side for laughs." Raven said, her right eye twitching.
"Aw come on, Raven, it was just-"
"If you say joke, I will slap you." Raven said darkly.
There was a long, quiet, and tense moment as both girls stared each other down. There was a promise of violence in the air, one that persuaded any civilians walking up to find other seating. Starfire, off to the side at a table eating, was the only one unaffected. She was, however, prepared to drop everything and separate the two headstrong girls if need be.
Thankfully, Rose finally looked away.
"I stand by what I said, Raven. I don't apologize for what I did because it was hilarious at the time. But I am sorry that it made you so mad." She said.
"Why on Earth would you think embarrassing someone and leaving them feeling violated is funny?!" Raven demanded.
Rose shrugged. "The violated part wasn't meant, but the embarrassment part is always funny."
"Are you some sort of sadist, getting off on other peoples misery?" Raven spat. "Did you treat Garfield this way?!"
"I constantly teased him, yeah." Rose admitted with a dirty smile. "He always got so fidgety and embarrassed, it was hilarious."
Raven stared at Rose for a minute before speaking. "You don't have many friends, do you? You can't, not with that attitude."
Rose quite visibly winced and turn a fresh glare back on Raven, though she didn't answer. Raven could feel some seriously conflicted feelings running through the other girl. Anger, resentment, hate, sorrow, nostalgia, frustration, and loneliness were the ones that were the most prominent and left Raven to wonder just what exactly this girl had been through to make her so...complicated.
"No, I don't." Rose admitted as she looked away. "Being raised by an ex-military hardass with a boner for violence didn't exactly mold me into little miss sunshine. The way I see it, you, of all people, should understand that."
Now Raven was really curious as to whom Rose really was underneath the crass and crude humor, beneath that mischievous smile and striking blue eyes, beneath that cocky attitude. She was almost like an odd mixture of the Titans, haunted by the things she'd seen but refusing to give in to her inner demons.
On top of that, she was standing up to Raven, which was no small accomplishment (even if it was for the wrong reasons).
"I will accept your apology, this time." Raven said after a few moments of thought. "But do not cross that line in such away again. If we are going to be perusing this…friendship, so to speak, then you need to understand that there are lines, boundaries, you do not cross."
Rose nodded her head. "Okay. Does this mean I can ask you questions instead?"
Raven hesitated. "About?"
"Personal stuff."
"I reserve the right to refuse any question I deem inappropriate."
"That's fine."
Raven stared at Rose uncertainly as she floated down and set her feet down upon the ground. Rose's own emotions had settled down, leaving nothing noticeable but mischievous seriousness.
Not a good thing.
"You may ask." She said slowly. Rose walked right up to Raven, really close so that no one else (read: nobody, cause the only other person there was Starfire) could hear her.
"I've been wondering…what color is your pubic hair?"
Meanwhile…
"What the hell is that?" Kid Devil asked himself as some big winged thing rose up into the air some distance away. He was in the northern sector of the city, which had suburban areas filling about twenty percent of it, standing at a gas station with a fresh soda in hand. He hadn't had the damn thing two minutes and now he had to chug it to go see whatever the hell that was in the distance.
"Peachy." He muttered before downing the beverage and teleporting himself onto the nearest tall building. It was only two stories, but it gave him a far better view of…a moth?
A huge moth.
"Hoooolllllyyyy shhhhiiitttt." He said as dozens more rose up into the air.
"There is absolutely no way in Hell that I'm-" Raven started to say before Rose interrupted her.
"White."
Raven hesitated for a brief second. "What?"
"Mine's white." Rose repeated. "Like my hair."
The mentally off-balance empath glanced up at said hair. "But…dye isn't made for that…"
Rose snorted. "Well duh. This is my natural hair color. It runs in the family."
"Um…okay? Why are you telling me this and why are you asking me that?" Raven asked, wondering to herself how this conversation took this turn.
Rose smiled. "Just wondering if the curtains match the drapes, Rae-Rae."
Fortunately, this little euphemism was easy to figure out. Raven scowled. "I'm not telling you this, you have no reason to want to know this information and no right to ask me."
Rose's smile grew wider. "So they did match? Ya know, before the waxing?"
"Why must you insist on harassing me?" Raven groaned as she turned away from Rose and went to Starfire's table. The other girl followed her, of course.
"I'm not harassing you, I'm living vicariously through you!" Rose exclaimed.
"You're what?"
"Your sex life is my sex life!"
Raven stared at her.
Rose lost her smile and scowled. "Oh come on Rae-Rae. My boyfriends take batteries and yours is real. You can't tell me you haven't even touched him, I wouldn't believe that for a second."
Raven sighed in exasperation and dropped her head to the table. Why won't she stop?
I honestly have no idea. Knowledge murmured. There are just too many reasons why she could be doing this and most of them are ridiculous.
Rude spoke up. We could just-
Crush her head like a grape! Rage interrupted.
-give her false information to screw with her back. Rude finished, ignoring Rage completely.
There was a moment of silence as Raven pondered this before mentally shrugging. Sure, why not? Got any ideas?
Mhm…
Moments later, Raven lifted her head back up and looked Rose dead in the eye. "You really wanna know what I know?"
Rose, obviously surprised at this offer, nodded. "Hell yeah!"
"Gentle but not slow, at least until he digs his claws in. Definitely an all nighter, with energy to spare afterwards. It's undeniably rough on the skin when the teeth become involved, because it goes from dozens of tiny bites to harder nips to outright sinking of fangs, all on rather tender places. As for size…lets call it more than enough." Raven said, straight faced.
Rose stared at her slack jawed and eyes wide, and Starfire had a bit of a surprised look on her face too.
Raven only had time to take one mental picture of them before she cracked up. Their faces were just too much and she couldn't even look at them now.
When Rose recovered from her shock, she scowled. "Damn, Rae, you had me going for a moment there. I didn't know you could make jokes like that."
"As did I." Starfire giggled.
Raven merely smiled and wiped her eyes of her merriment. That had felt good to laugh like that, to mess with someone. Garfield was obviously a bad influence on her sense of humor, but she didn't care.
Umm…but I really do know how big he is… Desire muttered.
Shut up! Several other emotions shouted.
"So how far have you actually gone?" Rose asked.
Raven snorted and started to answer with none of your business but hesitated when her magical senses pinged. This particular ping only sounded when her communicator went off inside her pocket dimensions. She opened a portal to it and the beeping communicator dropped into her hand. She noticed Starfire was pulling hers out too.
"Raven here." She said as she opened it.
"I am here as well." Starfire said into her own.
Garfield's voice came back to her. "Rae! I'm under attack at the park! I need help!"
Raven was out of her seat in a heartbeat and looking around to determine which way the park was. "What were you even doing there? You didn't say you were going there today!"
"It was supposed to be-" His voice cut off as there was a monstrous screech, followed by the sound of Emelia screaming, "-supposed to be a surprise for you but freaking Killer Moths bugs just showed up outta no where!"
"We're on our way!" Raven rose up into the air, Starfire hot in her heels, when the communicator beeped again. Starfire opened it up once more.
"Star, Kid Devil just called in, he's getting swarmed by Killer Moth!" Robin shouted. Judging from the background noise, he was on his motorcycle.
"Go help him!" Raven called back to her friend. Starfire nodded and changed course, now following her communicators tracker.
Back at the mall on the ground, Rose found herself torn. If she helped the Titans her father might realize what she was up to, but if she didn't then Emelia might get taken. If Emelia got taken then Beast Boy and Raven would be devastated, which would only get worse when her father disappeared with the girl. If her father realized what she was doing, however, he might come here personally to retrieve the children and then they were all royally screwed.
"Shit!" She cursed as she ran for her car. She had to find a way to help.
I'm beginning to think this freaking park is cursed or something. Garfield thought to himself as he struggled to stay standing. Presently, he was in the form of an ankylosaur, crouched over Emelia. There were dozens, if not a hundred, of Killer Moths giant moths everywhere around him. There at least a half dozen of them on his back and several around him, trying to push him over to get at Emelia. At the other end of the park clearing Killer Moth himself was riding on a particularly large specimen. On a moth of their own beside him was Fang and Kitten, the blonde girl cackling gleefully.
"Give up the girl!" Killer Moth shouted.
Pft, yeah right. Garfield thought as he swung his tail, smashing the clubbed end into a giant moth and sending it crashing into another. He couldn't fight back much, but what he could do would damn well hurt!
"Fangy-Poo, be a sweetie and get the girl?" Garfield heard Kitten say. The spider-headed guy immediately leapt off his mount and raced across the ground on his four insectoid legs.
Fang had always been one of their villains that made no damn sense to Garfield. Why was his head a spider? Why did it only have four legs? Were his natural arms and legs supposed to make up for the other ones? They were pretty useless in Garfield's opinion, just something for them to handcuff when they were done kicking his ass. How did he shoot web out of his mandible? Why did he shoot web out of his mandible? And, most importantly, why the hell would Kitten kiss that?
Questions he would probably never get answers to.
But now he had an even bigger problem to deal with. Fang was fast, way faster than his current animal form. He needed to shift to something to get Emelia out of here but the minute he changed the moths would be all over him. But if he didn't change then Fang snatch her right out from under him. Garfield groaned to himself, knowing that he only had seconds before he went from frying pan to fryer.
Fortunately, help arrived in the form of Hurricane Raven.
In the blink of an eye, more than a dozen fully grown trees were ripped out of the ground and began to wail on the giant bugs. Fang found himself scrambling out of the way as an old oak smashed down where he had been seconds before. The bugs on Garfield's back were knocked clean off the changeling and sent bouncing across the ground.
The half demoness herself was floating in a maelstrom of insects and trees, her four demonic eyes glowing with an unnatural fury as she knocked dozens of the moths out of the sky. Her inner mama bear had raised its head and Killer Moths pets (and the park) were suffering for it greatly.
Garfield thought it was kinda hot, truth be told.
Judging from Killer Moths expression, he thought it was terrifying.
"Beast Boy!"
Garfield jerked his head to the side at the sound of a familiar voice, but his poor vision didn't let him locate the owner. He frowned and took a moment to concentrate on changing just his eyes to an animal that had superior vision. Using multiple animals at one time was tricky, but he was slowly getting used to it.
When he settled on a hawks eyes, he spotted Rose in her car out on the street as dozens of civilians ran around it and other cars took off. She waved at him and he realized that she was offering to get Emelia out of there. He just had to get across about two football fields worth of open terrain (cause, ya know, the trees were now missing). He needed something fast yet bulky enough to take a hit and able to carry a child. He knew what his best bet was and the change only took him seconds to complete, his large reptilian form shrinking down and becoming furrier with elongated fangs and claws. When it was done he threw back his head and howled.
From Rose's point of view, this big ol' dinosaur turned into some kind of freaking werewolf and bum rushed in the direction of her car, a little blonde girl in its arms and dodging numerous giant moths that dropped out of the sky like bombs. It went up and over bodies and tree debris, leapt across small craters, and even bowled over two giant moths in an attempt to get to her. It was honestly one of the most bizarre things she had ever witnessed.
It ended when a guy with a spider for a head tackled the beast.
Emelia went tumbling from Beast Boy's arms as the spider-thing knocked him clean off his feet and pounced on him. It began spraying some gooey liquid from its mouth(?) onto the changeling, who started struggling against his new bonds. Rose knew she had to act, though she had been reluctant to get out of her car least some villain recognize her hair or report her to Slade an a source of interference.
She groaned. "Shhhhiiiitttt. The things I do for these people!"
Seconds later she jumped out of her car, straight up running for Emelia and nothing else. Beast Boy could handle himself and Raven was obviously playing the humanoid typhoon today. It wasn't as much about them as it was the kid anyways.
"Yoink!" Rose shouted as she snatched up Emelia and bolted. She heard a shout behind her but didn't look back as she dodged a dropping moth monster. Definitely one of her stranger days.
They were only seconds from the car when yet another moth dropped onto it, crushing the brand new vehicle beneath its weight. Rose stopped dead and stared in horror.
"My car!" She cried out mere seconds before she was knocked off her feet by a large spider leg and Emelia was ripped from her grasp by the owner of said leg.
Both Raven and Garfield heard their surrogate daughter scream, but the changeling was stuck to the ground by spider thread and the sorceress was swarmed by moths. Garfield struggled against the webbing, but it was only getting stickier by the second. Raven, on the other hand, was running out of solid trees rapidly and was forced to use several of the downed moths as bludgeons, cruel as it was. Fang was running helter-skelter across the ground, up and over trees and moths faster than one could blink.
When the first shot went off minutes later, everyone was confused. Beast Boy stopped struggling, Raven stopped moving, Kitten stopped laughing, Killer Moth stopped cracking his whip, and Fang stopped running. Hell, even the moths paused. They all had the same thought; who had fired a gun?
The answer was given when a second shot went off, this one ripping right through one of Fangs spider legs. He shouted and hit the ground, dropping Emelia and grasping his damaged limb. Emelia hit the ground hard, but managed to get up and away from Fang.
"Emelia! Run!" Raven shouted as the moths renewed their attack on her. Her surrogate daughter took off as fast as her little legs could carry her and disappeared behind an unconscious moth. She could hear Garfield roaring against his bonds but couldn't help him, not while she was getting swarmed.
"Get her!" Killer Moth roared. Fang staggered to his feet and Kitten jumped down off her moth and ran to where Emelia had gone.
There was another shot. Kitten shrieked in pain and fell back.
Raven took a brief moment to look around the battlefield and found something radiating so much hate that she thought Trigon had returned. When it stepped into view from behind a moth, however, it was most certainly not Trigon.
It was Rose.
And she was pissed.
"My car. You broke it. My car. Not yours. Mine. You broke it! My Goddamn car." She said in a halting way that made Raven think she might have mentally snapped. "My car is broke! Now I'm gonna break you!"
Raven wasn't entirely sure where Rose had acquired a pair of pistols, but she lost any reservations she had about a civilian joining the fight when Rose bolted across the battlefield much faster than she was expecting. The girl darted through the debris and moths with such precise and fluid movement that Raven instantly recognized it as training similar to Robins. That was both a relief and worrisome. Just who was this girl?
ROOOOAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRR
Raven smiled. Garfield had freed himself.
She wrapped a trio of freshly fallen moths in her shadows and lifted them into the air. She caught a brief glimpse of something large and green jumping straight up onto one, then jumping to another. Garfield then kept out and slammed into an airborne moth, sending both tumbling through the air. Raven took her encased moths and slung them into a mob of about a dozen of the creatures. Several went down, tangled up in each other. She cast a glance at the ground and found Rose airborne upside down, guns out and blazing. The bullets slammed into a pair of moths on either side of her and the monsters shrieked in pain. She landed, rolled, and ran straight up the backside of another and vaulted off of it, guns still blazing. This time though, it was Fang that shrieked in pain.
Oh, she's a violent one. Rage commented in Raven's mind. Wonder if that ex-military father of hers has something to do with that?
The weird gurgling cry of a closing-in moth got drew Ravens attention and she slung up a shield right in front of it. It slammed into and cracked the shield before it dropped to the ground with a crash. A green blur flew by Raven and hit another moth. Raven saw its wings practically disintegrate beneath Garfield's claws.
We need more help! Raven thought as she snatched up another pair of downed moths and used them as shields against others. There's just too many!
"MOMMY!"
Raven's snapped towards the sound of Emelia's cry and found the girl being dragged off by Kitten, who had blood pouring down one arm.
"Oh no the hell you are not manhandling my child!" Raven snarled as her rage increased tenfold. She was going to royally hurt this bitch this time. "Azarath Metrion Zinthos!"
In an instant the shadowy form of a massive raven formed in the air around her and she swooped down onto the villain. Dozens of moths crumpled upon impact as she blasted through them towards her daughter's captor. Kitten saw her at the last minute and snatched Emelia up and pulled out a hidden knife, pressing it to the little girls throat. Emelia went stone still in her arms.
Raven hit the ground with a carefully directed shockwave that hit everything but Kitten and Emelia, sending a handful of injured moths bouncing away. Fang was nowhere in sight but judging from the sounds of gunfire, he was still being chased by Rose.
"Put her down and you leave on a stretcher instead of a body bag." Raven hissed.
"Pft, please! You're just a lame hero! You don't do anything that hurts people! You're nowhere near as bad as my Fangy-Poo!" Kitten cackled. "Besides, daddy said if I bring him the girl then I can have a new car!"
"You'll get a new car in Hell if you don't put her down!"
Kitten sneered. "Big words coming from some two-bit witch and her freaky green boyfriend!"
"Hey bitch!"
Both Raven and Kitten turned and found Rose in the distance holding a pistol to Fang's head. He was down on his hands and knees, all four of his spider legs shot off and a gooey ichor dripping from them. Rose herself was covered in copious amounts of moth ichor, but the furious look on her face was still very much present.
"Drop the girl or I blow his goddamned head off!" Rose shouted.
Raven raised an eyebrow at the sheer bloodlust in her 'friend'. Kitten, on the other hand, flipped out.
"Fang! What did that dirty white haired skank do to you?!" She screamed.
"I kicked his ass, that's what! Now drop the girl before I drop him!"
"You can't do that, you guys are hero's!" Kitten screamed in frustration, digging the knife a little more into Emelia. The little girl whimpered as a thin line of blood trailed down her throat.
Raven seethed with white hot rage but held herself back. The knife was far too close for her to try to take it with her magic, Emelia might get hurt.
"The hell I am!" Rose shouted back. "Now drop her!"
ROOOOOAAAAAARRRR
All three girls jumped at that sound. It was accompanied by a loud thud which, as it would turn out, was the tussling forms of Killer Moth and Beast Boy hitting the ground and locking in hand to hand combat on the other side of Kitten and Emelia. The mutant moth man uppercut the Beast, but the changeling clapped both hands together and brought them down on a two-handed smash on his opponent. Killer Moth hit the ground with another thud, but swept his leg out and knocked the Beasts legs out from under him. The Beast hit the ground hard but rolled away, as did his opponent. Both leapt up into fighting stances and prepared to go at it again when Kitten shouted.
"Daddy! That tramp has Fang!" She cried out.
"Daddy's busy, darling!" Killer Moth shouted back before he rushed Beast Boy. He was met with a roar and they locked hands, trying to grapple each other into the ground. The air around the area was filling with moths quite rapidly now.
"Let her go, Kitten." Rave said darkly. "I won't be as nice as Starfire if you don't."
"Tell that tramp to let Fang go first!"
"Kitten, we need that child!"
"I need Fang more, daddy!"
Raven ground her teeth. This was stupid, so very stupid. How the hell was she supposed to get Emelia back during a Mexican standoff? This dumb blonde bitch was too stupid to realize that…Emelia's eyes were glowing purple? And her mouth was moving?
Help us, please! The little girl mouthed. Please! We need your help and you're the only one who can! I know you don't want to come back, but please help! Just this once!
Who the hell is she talking too? Raven wondered.
Raven got her answer moments later when the earth beneath her feet rumbled in a very familiar way. Her heart dropped into her stomach as hundreds of small rocks on the ground around them became encased in a terrifyingly familiar yellow glow and began to rise up into the air. Both Killer Moth and Beast Boy stopped fighting and Garfield's shock reflected Raven's own.
"I'm only going to say this once." A voice said behind Raven. "Let her go."
Slowly, she turned and found the one person that she honestly never wanted to see again.
Terra.
