Re:Kamen Rider Smash
Important Update
To get it out of the way right now as a bit of a shorter tldr version, and to not waste anyone's time, simply put, Re:Kamen Rider Smash is going to be frozen/put on indefinite hiatus for the time being. I have Chapters 15, 16, 17 and 18 ready to be published and they will be published during each weekend of January 2021. If I end up feeling like not continuing fully at some point, I won't leave you all hanging and will convert the episode outlines I have into descriptions that way there is some sense of closure regarding the series and ending.
With that out of the way… here's the long winded version.
Now I know this isn't exactly the kind of update you guys want to see, it's something I was hoping wouldn't happen to be honest. Especially given I just posted a gigantic Special Chapter like nearly a week ago. I've honestly been thinking on this subject, ever since the start of November and throughout the entire process of putting Chapter 14.5 up. About a year ago I had ended up getting a groove for my own personal Kamen Rider, and it seemed to be going well. In fact Chapter 14.5 was started up a year ago too in November, but wasn't finished until about January or so just due to how intensive it ended up being to write it.
After that I had managed to write up Chapters 15 came along shortly after, then Covid hit and things sorta hit a nosedive. I didn't end up writing up Chapter 16 until May, and then 17 and 18 followed during the following months as a result. As I progressed through the year, I noticed that my original idea of having Roze from Remnant as a breather story ended up not really helping, I had started getting less motivated to really write for Smash. Hell, from the middle to the end of October I had ended up getting very far ahead in Roze from Remnant in regards to writing while Smash just kept sitting around.
Even now it's been a bit of a struggle to write for it, I partially blame my OCD self of trying to basically plan for everything and get super descriptive with my outlines. As a result, I know everything about Re:Kamen Rider Smash, where upgrades are placed, what specifically happens in an episode, where they connect along with the ending. And I suppose the idea of knowing everything and then having to write it down ended up just taking out the fun of it for me.
I actually ended up learning from this with Roze, I've kept my ideas very flexible. I don't have an actual super set path written down, just tons of ideas that I've thrown at the wall, waiting for their chance to be used. So I suppose it's a lot fresher in that regard. And I suppose between the two, the motives and stories sort of changed in regards to them. Smash started off as a passion project but quickly wormed its way into being a chore to write. Meanwhile Roze started as a fun what if scenario that slowly but surely grew into a passion project for me. It's kind of weird how things switch like that huh?
Roze from Remnant has become a monster of a project and it's shaping up to be my biggest work of all time. And the passion for wanting to continue it and bring it to you all is there compared to Smash.
So yeah, in January, Re:Kamen Rider Smash will be taking the spotlight with the final four fully written Chapters, each Saturday until I can't post anymore. Like I said earlier, if it seems like I'm just not entirely motivated to write this series any longer, at some point I will convert the episode descriptions into various "This is what would happen" chapters to clear the air and basically give some sort of closure instead of leaving you all hanging.
Sorry about doing this, but well, I hope you enjoy the rest of the run of Re:Kamen Rider Smash. I'll see you guys next week after Christmas for Roze from Remnant Chapter 07.
