SLUMBER PARTY
Azula would recognize Ty Lee's silhouette in a room made solely of shadows. She thinks she sees it for a moment but that is impossible because that traitor is locked in the Boiling Rock.
She stares down at her desk and picks up the unopened envelope she left unattended while training to kill her brother under her father's tutelage. When she opens it, she sees an invitation to a slumber party. Ty Lee's slumber party. A slumber party. How childish and silly and…
Azula sinks down onto the floor of her bedroom as images of her history with that horrible girl flicker through her mind. The thing that wounds most is that almost all of them are good memories.
How did she lose something so stable, so certain, so beautiful?
Because trust is for fools.
That's why.
She sits on the floor surrounded by dancing shadows, right where she has sat at so many slumber parties during which she wishes she had kissed Ty Lee.
They could have had more time.
No, that time would be wasted on such a flighty person.
Azula sits up all night, having a pity party instead of a slumber party.
And it is her party this time, not Ty Lee's. Her party. Her party.
And she will cry if she wants to.
