END OF THE WORLD
Mai and Ty Lee sit on Ember Island, staring out at the sea. Ty Lee cannot stop crying (quite melodramatically, if Mai may say), yet Ty Lee's best friend sits there stoically and listens to the tragic tale of Azula rejecting the feelings she so clearly harbors.
"It's not the end of the world," says Mai, although the whining Ty Lee beside her clearly does not agree. The acrobat voices that sentiment by vehemently pouting.
"It is though," wails Ty Lee, grabbing sand in her fists.
"So she rejected you. Live with it."
"I ruined my chances with Azula! I ruined our friendship! I probably ruined the whole war effort!"
Mai rolls her eyes. "Azula will live. Unlike you, I don't think she takes her love life seriously."
"But she takes our friendship seriously."
"It's not ruined. Just never talk about completely dumping out your romantic purse on her lap again."
"We need closure!"
"There's no such thing as closure; just cut your hair and pretend it didn't happen."
Ty Lee supposed she should have expected such a callous response when she chose to confide in Mai.
