Chapter 43: Apparation Exam
We have our final apparation lesson this morning, before our exam on Wednesday. The boys are very excited about being allowed to apparate. Lily keeps reminding them that they're not actually going to be able to apparate at Hogwarts, because of the anti-apparition ward. I can already imagine what summer's going to be like though. James and Sirius aren't going to walk anywhere. We'd just arrived in Hogsmeade; the apparation lessons take place in the village hall. The instructor has asked us to line up along one side of the hall, and apparate to a hula-hoop that has been placed on the floor on the opposite side. This is the routine for every lesson. I've apparated to the hoop so many times that I am starting to see hula-hoops in my dreams. Sirius apparated beside me, reappearing in the hoop, and as he did, I felt the familiar sensation of a new memory forcing itself into my head. I swiftly sat myself down, before I could fall. Everything went black, then the Quidditch pitch came into force. I was sat in the stands, reading a book, as everyone cheered and screamed around me. In front of me, stood three familiar black-haired girls.
"Go Harry!" Myranda screamed as Harry shot past on his broom. Pandora and our third daughter let out incoherent screams. Our third daughter turned to face me as the game continued. She took the seat beside me.
"Whatcha reading?"
Little Hermione smiled, "it's for a potions assignment."
"Hermie," our third daughter complained, "it's Quidditch time."
"I am watching," little Hermione insisted.
"You could've fooled me," our third daughter said.
"Florence." Pandora said suddenly, attempting to pull our third daughter to her feet.
"Pandy," Florence started, "stop it. I need to rest my feet." Pandora frowned, before returning to the game.
"You should go watch the game?" Little Hermione said after a moment.
Florence shrugged, "I've already seen who wins."
Little Hermione smirked, "don't you ever get annoyed with knowing the future."
"Not really," Florence said, "I like being a seer… it's fun knowing things that other people don't." Our third daughter's a seer! I felt completely stunned as the memory faded. Sirius was beside me when I opened my eyes with a groan. I rubbed my head, whilst sitting up.
"You okay?" He asked.
I nodded, "yes. Just another vision."
"Anything interesting?" he continued.
"Our third daughter's called Florence," I said, "she's a seer." I watched his jaw drop. I'm assuming the Black family have a seer in the family, because Florence's talent certainly isn't inherited from me. "I like the names we pick." Sirius smiled. He then helped me to my feet, so I could finish the apparation lesson.
The days following our final apparition lesson went by quickly. Everyone had been slightly anxious about the exam, but it hadn't been that bad. I found myself sat on Sirius's lap, in The Three Broomsticks, after the apparition exam. We're now all in possession of apparation licenses. James has just placed a round of butterbeers on the table. I help myself to one of the steins.
"This means we can go have lunch with my sister one weekend," Lily smiled towards James. I watched as a subtle frown appeared on James's face. I'd heard from Sirius, that James has been dreading meeting Petunia and Vernon. I don't really blame him. Petunia had been nothing but awful when I visited Lil's house over the summer.
"Maybe," James replied.
Lil's smile widened, "I'll write to her." Sirius smirked, helping himself to a butterbeer.
"Is your sister still dating that awful muggle?" Marlene asked.
Lily frowned, "unfortunately." We then listened to Lily rambled on about how awful Vernon was. He sounds exactly like I imagined from what Harry had once told me. I was on my second mug of butterbeer, by the time Lily's rambling came to an end.
"I'm sure she'll come to her sense," Dorcus attempted to comfort.
"She won't," Lily said, "he makes her happy."
"Is he really that bad?" Sirius whispered into my ear.
"Yes," I replied, quietly. It had started to rain, by the time we left The Three Broomsticks. We all ran back up the hill to the castle, getting thoroughly soaked in the process. I took a long shower when I finally reached Gryffindor tower, before settling myself in the common room, between Sirius and Remus, to complete a DADA assignment. Sirius wrapped his arms around me, as I wiggled into his side.
"Where's James?" I asked.
Sirius smirked, "taken Evans off somewhere to cheer her up." I frowned: I really didn't want to know.
