Marshall and Joey gazed at the stars as they laid underneath the night sky. The two laid in a vertical position opposite one another at their special spot near the lake. It had only been three days since the two first met, and they already seemed to be pretty good friends.

"Ooo! That one looks like a big bone!" Marshall shouted as he pointed toward a constellation of stars.

"Yeah it really does." Joey responded, with a small laugh. His eyes continued to scan the sky. "Oh, there! That one looks like a banana!" Joey shouted, pointing to the sky. Marshall twisted and turned his head as he tried to find the shape.

"Where? I don't see it" He said.

"There!" Joey said, pointing once again. Marshall twisted his head once more, even squinting his eyes.

"I still don't see it." He said. Joey moved over to Marshall and playfully grabbed him by the head and forced him to look in the direction that he intended. "Oh I see it now!" Marshall responded. Joey shook his head and gave a light laugh. The two, now side by side continued their stargazing. Marshall looked over to Joey. "Hey Joey…"

"Hmm?" Joey said looking back at him.

"Thanks for coming out with me tonight. I'm really glad I met you."

Joey couldn't help but give a slight blush at Marshall's words. "If I had to be honest, hanging out with you has been the best part about this town so far." Joey replied with a big smile, as he rubbed the back of his head in an embarrassed fashion. "You're the only friend i've made here so far and… you're already special to me." Joey finished, his blush growing even redder. Joey's words caused Marshall's eyes to light up. The two turned their attention back to stargazing. Marshall slowly reached out a paw to grab Joey's, but before his paw could make contact Joey moved his away. For a moment Marshall felt a wave of disappointment run over him, but that disappointment quickly changed to delight once Joey reached his own paw out and held Marshall's. Marshall sighed with relief.

"You're special to me too." he whispered inaudibly.

Skye arrived back at the lookout, landing her copter back in its assigned space. As she stepped off she was greeted by Everest, who had heard the sound of her copter landing.

"Skye, you're back!" Everest said. She looked at Skye's expression as she stepped out of her vehicle, realizing that something was amiss. "How did the picnic go?" she asked curiously. Skye simply let out a small huff in response before trying to put on the best saccharine smile she could manage.

"Oh, you know… It was great." She lied. Everest was a bit puzzled. She had expected Skye to be more cheerful. After all, this was something that Skye had been planning for some time now. There wasn't a day that she didn't bring it up and now to see her return from the outing like this; something was definitely up.

"So… What did you two do- err… If you don't mind my asking." Everest pried. Skye tried her best to keep up her smile, but it was no use. She dropped her facade and the hurt and pain could be seen all over her face. "Skye?" Everest said worriedly.

"We broke up." She confessed.

"What?!" Everest exclaimed, her mouth hanging agape. "But you- and he- Why?!" She stammered.

"We just... kinda rushed into this." Skye explained as she lowered her head to the concrete. "We didn't give it any thought or anything. We both felt like it was best…"

Everest blinked twice in confusion, but nodded her head as if she understood. "I see…" She answered. Silence fell between the two, but it was momentarily broken by a third voice.

"Everest!" Rubble called out, exiting the lookout doors. "Ready to watch the Apollo movie with me?" He asked her with a look of excitement on his features.

"Sure." Everest answered with a slight blush. Skye noticed the blush and was a bit lost as to what was going on. Rubble headed in the direction of the Paw Patroller to begin setting up the movie. Everest noticed Skye staring at her and quickly tried to hide her blush. "Rubble and I are having sort of a movie date. At least that's what I'm calling it." Everest started twiddling her paws. "I may kinda have a little crush on him." Everest confessed, causing her blush to grow much more red.

"Oh... " Skye said, slightly surprised. "I never would have guessed."

"Rubble, he's just so cute and we have so much in common." Everest told her. "I'm not even sure if he feels the same way. He probably just thinks of me as a really good friend who shares the same interest as him." Hearing Everest go on about her crush on Rubble made Skye slightly envious; especially considering her current situation. "I was thinking… maybe I should tell him after the movie? But if he really doesn't feel the same way, it'll make things weird and awkward between us." Everest stopped herself when she realized she wasn't thinking of Skye's feelings. "Oh… I'm sorry. I'm sure you don't wanna hear about all of this… You can join us if you want." Everest proposed.

"No, it's alright." Skye answered, putting on a smile. "You don't have to feel sorry for me. You should enjoy your time with Rubble. Just the two of you. I'll be fine."

"Ok…" Everest answered, still feeling unsure. She watched as Skye pressed a switch to transform her copter back into a pup house and entered in, shutting herself inside.

"C'mon Everest, it's ready!" Rubble called out to the husky as he hung out of the Paw Patroller doors, wagging his tail. Everest shook away her thoughts and smiled as she entered through the doors with her crush.

A fierce fire burned within Chase's eyes as he leapt through the air and tackled Joey to the ground. "You Liar! You… You said that you would wait!" Chase growled as he pinned down Joey, who looked at Chase with shocked features.

"Chase, get off of him!" Marshall commanded. Chase was in such a fit of fury that he could not register any other voices.

"Why did you lie to me?! Why did you give me false hope?!" Chase asked the now guilty looking dalmatian. Joey could only look away in shame.

"Chase I'm warning you, get off of him!" Marshall yelled, his tone becoming more serious and threatening by the second.

"Why?! You said you would give me a chance! Why did you go back on what you said?!" Chase asked Joey. "Answer me!"

"I…" Joey started.

"You what?!" Chase asked, pinning him harder to the ground.

In that moment Chase was suddenly knocked off of Joey and sent tumbling across the sands of the beach. He winced at the pain he felt coming from his muzzle as he placed a paw on it. There was a noticeable reddish print. Marshall pounced on top of him, pinning him to the sands. "Don't you DARE touch him!" Growled Marshall with a serious tone. Chase froze up with disbelief.

He… hit me? Chase thought to himself.

"What is your problem?! Why can't you just leave us alone?!" Marshall yelled at Chase. "You're always here, just causing trouble for us!"

"Marshall, I came because… I needed to tell you something." Chase explained.

"Like what? That I'm disgusting? I've already heard everything from you that I want to hear!" Marshall retorted.

"But Marshall, I need to tell you I-"

"Get this through your head, shep-turd! It doesn't matter what you think!" Marshall, said, cutting the shepherd off. "It never did! I'm going to do what makes me happy!" Chase was silent for a moment. He couldn't believe how aggressive Marshall had become. He also couldn't help but feel like the change was his own fault. He proceeded to open his mouth to offer a response. "Just go." Marshall told Chase as he stepped off of him. "and leave me and my mate alone."

Chase's ears perked up at the end of Marshall's statement. "Mate?" Chase repeated as he stood back on his feet. He glanced over to Joey with wide trembling eyes, but a guilty Joey still could not face him directly. No… I'm too late. If I'd just told him sooner… If only I had just… Chase stopped himself within his thoughts for a moment before speaking again."I'm sorry Marshall. I'm sorry for everything." Chase said, in a defeated tone. Marshall was a bit surprised by this. "I'm the one who's disgusting, Marshall. Disgusting for treating a friend so badly. Disgusting for hurting you so much." Chase then turned his attention to Joey. "Joey, I'm sorry for tackling you. I just have to accept that you make him happy." Joey tried opening his mouth to say something to the shepherd, but something held him back. "Just please… take care of him…" Chase finished his sentence fighting back tears, before walking away. He turned to lock eyes with Marshall one more time. At that moment, Marshall could have sworn that tears were welling up in Chase's eyes.

"Chase?" Marshall called out with concern. He took one step towards the shepherd. Chase backed away in a panic before he took off running. Marshall was so confused by the change in behavior. He wanted to say something but couldn't find the words. He only watched speechless as Chase ran off into the distance, exiting the beach. "He looked like he was crying… What do you think that was all about?" he asked turning to Joey, who still had a look of guilt.

"Maybe… maybe you should go and find out." Joey answered.

"Maybe…" Marshall replied. "But right now I want to be with my mate." Joey's head sunk even lower. "What's wrong? You're not hurt are you?" Marshall asked him, concerned.

"No, it's alright. I'm fine Marsh. You should go to him."

"...Ok" Marshall replied, giving in. "Meet me back here later?" he asked Joey.

"Yeah." Joey answered. Marshall smiled a sweet smile before running off, leaving a guilt ridden Joey drowning in his own thoughts. What have I done…

Marshall saw that Chase's cruiser was still on the beach. As he approached the vehicle he looked around, but could not see any trace of the shepherd. "Chase?" he called out and earned no response. "Where did he…" Marshall started as he looked left and right. "Where could he have gone?"

Chase continued to run, tears streaming down his face. He wasn't sure where he was headed, he just wanted to get away. He dashed through bushes and maneuvered around trees. Upon approaching the next bush, Chase's pup-tag got snagged on one of the branches and was ripped from around his neck. Chase, not realizing what had happened continued to run, not taking even a second to look back as his pup-tag lightly swung side to side hanging from the branch.

Stupid, stupid! Why did I do that? I was so close. So close only to wreck things even worse. All I had to do was go to him. Go to him and tell him my feelings… but…. Chase could still feel where Marshall struck him on his muzzle. He hit me. Chase closed his eyes tightly and gritted his teeth as tears slowly started to stream again. And he was so protective of Joey. I didn't mean to touch Joey, I just lost control of myself and now… The image of Joey and Marshall's kiss flashed through the shepherd's mind. It's too late. He's already moved on… and now I'm the only one left drowning. Chase's mind flashed back to a moment of his previous dream.

"I'm sorry Chase… but it's too late." Marshall says as he backs into the darkness. The word 'late' continues to echo through Chase's mind as he stopped running in his tracks. He hung his head low.

"I was no good to Skye… and I'm no good to Marshall. Maybe, this is how it's supposed to be."

Marshall slouched back in the driver's seat of Chase's cruiser. He sighed as he stared up into the sky. The sun had almost finished setting behind the cloudy skies.

"He still hasn't come back yet. And it looks like rain is coming. Why did he leave his cruiser behind? Why was he here? Wasn't he supposed to be at a picnic with Skye? What's going on with him? And what… what was he talking about with Joey?" Marshall had so many questions, but it seemed the answers were so far from his reach. He pondered these things and more until his thoughts were interrupted by an alert from his pup-tag.

"PAW Patrol, to the lookout!"

As the evening loomed even closer. Marshall ran to the lookout where he saw the other pups beginning to enter the elevator. He was closing in fast. The pups all gasped and braced themselves for a signature wipeout. Marshall leapt through the air and landed perfectly on the elevator.

"Whoa…" uttered a shocked Zuma.

"Marshall, you stuck the landing!" Chirped Rubble with a big smile.

"That was a nice move." Everest said, giggling. Marshall couldn't help but give a smug smile during all the praise.

Rocky stared out into the open as if he was looking for someone. "Hey, where's Chase?" He asked. Marshall's smile faded as his eyes darted over the other five pups.

Chase isn't here? He thought to himself.

"It's not like Chase to be late." Said Rubble.

"Maybe he's already with Wyder." Zuma said. The doors to the elevator slowly closed and lifted the six to the midway point, allowing them to change into their preselected gear. The others noticed that Chase's gear was still laid out, concluding that he had not yet changed. The elevator continued to hoist the six pups all the way to the top, where they all exited and hopped into their assigned spots, sitting before Ryder.

"Uhh… almost ready for action, Ryder sir." Rocky announced. Ryder looked over the six pups, almost immediately noticing one was missing.

"Where's Chase?" He asked.

"We haven't seen him. We thought he was with you." Answered Rubble.

"Hmm…" Ryder pondered, stroking his chin. "I haven't seen him since this morning."

"Skye, wasn't he with you?" Rocky asked, as he looked toward the cockapoo. Skye wore a defeated expression that no one else had been able to notice until now.

"Skye hasn't been with Chase since she came back hours ago." Everest said, stepping in. Ryder took out his Pup-pad and tapped on the screen a few times. He tried calling Chase's pup-tag, but received no answer. He then tried making contact with Chase's police cruiser, only to have his attempt yield the same results.

"He's not picking up on his pup-tag or cruiser." Ryder replied. "Did he say anything about where he was going while he was with you?" He asked, looking toward Skye.

"I think... he was headed to the beach." She answered, glancing over to Marshall.

"Marshall, you were at the beach with your friend weren't you? Did you see Chase." Ryder asked the dally. Marshall hesitated at Ryder's question for a moment.

"Yeah…" The dally answered. "He came and left…" Marshall's response caused Skye's expression to shift to one of slight confusion.

"Did he say anything to you or tell you where he might've been headed?" Ryder asked.

"Well… he only said he had to tell me something and then left." answered Marshall, trying to keep as much detail out as possible.

"What did he have to tell you?" Ryder pried.

"He didn't really say." answered Marshall. His gaze shifted to the floor. He hadn't thought about it earlier in the midst of things, but at this moment he too had to wonder; What DID Chase have to tell him, and did he go too far with how he treated Chase.

Ryder sighed. "I needed Chase on this mission, but I guess we'll have to do without him." He replied. "But more importantly, we really need to find him because…" Ryder paused as worry took over his expression.

"...Adventure Bay received a flood warning."
