Lucy lounged on the couch, making herself comfortable as she flipped the third page of the book that she had just started reading. It was a novel Levy had suggested a few weeks ago and as per the blonde, her bluenette friend's literary choices were nothing less than great. But Lucy had been really busy with her new story and so she hadn't gotten free time to even hang out with Natsu, let alone enjoy the book.

Thankfully, the girl had finished writing a few hours ago. Natsu was busy talking to his clients as an important online meeting had come up suddenly, resulting in them cancelling their date at the last moment. But Lucy didn't mind staying at home so long as she could finish reading the romance novel. She and Natsu could easily go on a dinner date after he was done with his work. Nothing to worry!

For now, Lucy enjoyed her reading time. While reading an interesting part of the plot, Lucy completely forgot about the fact that she had just placed a mug full of really hot chocolate coffee on the side table. The blonde was so distracted by the dramatic encounter between the male and the female lead of the fiction that she didn't think even once before she lifted up the mug, by the handle and took a large sip. Hot liquid gushed into her mouth in one motion, burning her tongue in the process as Lucy screamed in sudden pain and dropped the mug to the floor.

Natsu threw his laptop on the bed as fast as he could the moment he heard the sound of Lucy's scream, quickly followed by the sound of something shattering. What the hell happened? Was Lucy Alright? The pinkette rushed towards the stairs at a speed more than that of light's, ignoring the faint noises behind him- "Mr. Dragneel? Hello? Mr. Dragneel... are you alright?" He couldn't care any less about his meeting at the moment.

By the time Natsu reached down the drawing room, which was perhaps a few seconds after, he found the couch empty while pieces of Lucy's favorite mug lay on the floor next to it. Coffee was spilled all over. Natsu's heartbeat raised frantically, negative thoughts plagued his mind as he hastily made his way to the kitchen in search of his missing girlfriend. She had to be alright.

Natsu calmed down once he found her, she was sitting on the island as she sipped cold water from the glass. The boy sighed in pure relief and walked over to the girl. "What happened? Why'd you scream like that? And the mu-" Lucy cut him off by sticking out her burnt tongue at him, face scrunched up in slight pain.

Natsu pulled her by the chin, tilting her head to get a better look at it. His other hand placed on her bare thigh as he got closer to her. "You burnt you tongue?" He asked in disbelief, recklessness wasn't exactly Lucy's thing. Lucy mumbled a "uhmm" and winced when wet muscle pulsed again, even though she had just sipped water.

"I didn't expect this from you though," Natsu frankly said, "Who puts hot stuff in their mouth like that..?! I almost had a heart attack!" He scolded, rolling his eyes at the pouting girl. But Natsu had to admit, she looked pretty cute with that face. The pinkette felt like showering her with kisses. Maybe it could soothe her pain... Yeah, good idea!

Lucy had her arms crossed over her chest, she refused to be rebuked by someone who was probably one of the most careless and forgetful people in the world. So what if she had been like that once, not like normal people don't make mistakes. It wasn't her damn fault that the novel was too tempting to look away from, even for once. If anything, he should take care of her properly! Instead of talking about what can't be undone.

The blonde gave him a confused look as he put his hands on her both sides on the island and leaned into her space, caging her in between. Her arms fell to her sides when he closed the gap between their faces and kissed her. Lucy wound her arms around his neck and pulled at his locks in encouragement. Natsu ran his tongue along the seam of her bottom lip, asking for permission which Lucy granted right away, on impulse. She parted her lips for him to enter, just as their tongues brushed and the small muscles rubbed against each other, Lucy let out another wince of pain at the irritation it caused.

Natsu quickly pulled away and looked at her in worry, "Luce, Luce are you okay?" He anxiously asked, perhaps it was a bad idea to try kissing her. Lucy nodded and lightly touched the burnt flesh. It was going to be a pain in the ass. But the girl appreciated her lover's affection, she beamed at him and Natsu visibly relaxed knowing she was fine.

"Brimme shom ishe ships pishh..." Lucy groaned every time her scalded tongue moved to form inaudible words whilst Natsu baffledly asked, "Uh, what?" The blonde facepalmed and pointed to the fridge and groaned again, "Ish shipss..!" It took Natsu to a few seconds to get what she meant. "Oh! Ice chips!" He sheepishly smiled and apologised, "I'm sorry Luce." Lucy just shook her head and rolled eyes at him as Natsu went to grab the chips.

He might be a goofball but he was her goofball, Lucy giggled softly to herself.

Thanks a lot for reading!
