Chapter 12: They are Gone
I glanced around the bar and watched everyone celebrate happily at finishing 1st place today. I stared at my untouched beer, the foam had slowly faded away as I glared it sadly.
I shut my eyes in annoyance remembering back to the Navel battle today and everything that happened from then to right now.
[Earlier That Day]
I watched horrified. Minerva held Lucy from her neck outside of the water ball after she had given her the worst beat down. I lean against the railing clinching it angrily until finally it started to bend under my grip.
I glance at Sting disgusted. Our eyes might and I could see the guilt in them. He wasn't smiling. He wasn't cheering. But his look gave nothing away as he stare somberly at the scene before him. He didn't know what to do. I could see him gripping the railing just as hard.
I was about to jump over the railing when Laxus stop me pointing to Natsu and his group already down there.
"We aren't going to a fight Juneaux." Laxus warned sternly. But I could see the anger in his eyes at what had happen.
"I should have participated." I growled angrily remembering that sinister feeling I had gotten from that woman that night.
"Next time June." Gajeel murmured firmly also not pleased with what happen.
For them to have used my name means they are beyond pissed.
But that woman…how cruel. I glare down at Minerva while the Sabertooth members stood in front of her along with Natsu, Gray, Erza and Wendy. I watch how everyone cheered for a fight Fairy Tail against Sabertooth.
"What do we do?" Cana ask seriously.
"If they attack…we defend." I simply growled angrily.
We wouldn't start this fight but we would certainly end it. Erza stopped Natsu from ensuing a fight and I clicked my tongue annoyed, but I guess it's for the best.
"I don't care if you're Fiore's best and mightiest, but I will tell you one thing. You people have made yourselves an enemy of the one guild you don't want to make anger." Erza threaten angrily.
I smirk angrily. Every single Fairy Tail member glaring murderously at the Sabertooth members. But some part of me worried what would happen to Sting if our guilds came to blows…I admit…I probably wouldn't be able to hurt him. But Minerva, I had no problem knocking some sense into that bitch.
I stood silently against the wall near the door. I couldn't look at Lucy without accidentally turning on my dragon force. I was so anger. Laxus stood beside me placing his hand on my shoulder. My eyes sting angrily with tears but I wouldn't cry. I was going to be strong for Lucy and everyone.
"I'm relieved to know that she hasn't suffered any lasting injuries." Erza whisper relieved.
Everyone from Team A and B were in the room watching the passed out Lucy get treatment from Porlyusica.
"Those guys…" Natus growled angrily.
Laxus stood from the wall stepping closer to Natsu.
"I know what you wanna do." Laxus warned.
Happy suddenly spoke concern as Lucy started to wake.
"Guys…I'm sorry." She whispered with a raspy voice.
"What the hell are you sorry for?" I asked confused nearing my friend and guild mate.
She looked at us all with tears as she hid away her face.
"For messing up again." She continued tearfully.
My fists turned into tight balls at the guilt Lucy was feeling for losing again. She shouldn't feel guilt after the beating the received. It wasn't fair what happen to her and worst of all there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it to stop it! I should be sorry Lucy not you.
"Don't be sorry Lucy. You did excellent." I whispered softly.
"Besides we came in 2nd place thanks to you!" Gray said trying to cheer her up.
"We score 8 points." Wendy chimed in.
"Yes, you did well Lucy!" Erza cheered happily.
"My keys..." Lucy asked weakly.
"Right here." Happy said handing her the small little brown bag.
"Oh, thank you…" she whispered tearfully falling asleep half way through her sentence.
"Looks like she fell asleep again." I whispered softly.
I gently fix the blanket over her as she held her keys close. I caressed her cheek and smile sadly.
"I can't stand those guys." Cana hissed angrily.
"Sabertooth…" Gray said angrily.
"Don't like them on bit." Gajeel added.
The door suddenly opened and Gramps walk into the room with a stern face.
"Good I'm glad you are all here." He said seriously.
I turned around looking at him confuse.
"What's going on Gramps?"
"I'm not sure if this will help or hinder us, but the management has just ordered us to combine our teams into one." My grandfather explained sternly.
"Combine?" Laxus exclaimed surprised.
"Why?!" Natsu yelled angrily.
"Raven Tail's disqualification means that seven teams are left to compete." He said slowly.
"An odd number." I whispered understanding why management wanted us to merge now.
"Exactly June, having an odd number is problematic for choosing the battle segment matchups. So they have ordered us to combine our two teams." He finish unconvinced with the idea of combining teams.
I looked around the room biting my thumb, a new 5 member team. We would have to choose wisely not just strong but with smarts. Also a team that would be able to work together.
"What about our score?" Wendy asked shyly.
"They're letting us keep the lower score, apparently." Gramps sighed even more frustrated. "Team A's 35 points."
"That's not fair." Happy said.
"But we have no choice; this was the management's decision." Erza added sighing at the sudden change of things.
"On the plus side, this is also a chance to make an even stronger team." Cana said confidently.
"Cana is right this could more beneficently for us." I add thoughtfully. "So who's going to be the new team?"
Everyone looked at each other.
I walked down the empty halls picking up Sting's smell he wasn't far from where I was walking and I headed his way. He was alone which meant he was waiting for me. I found him standing solemnly against the wall with his arms crossed.
I smiled sadly and walked towards him. Without thinking about it I wrapped my arms around him hugging him tightly. Sting slowly wrapped his arms around me burying his face into my blond locks.
"I'm sorry." He whispered.
"It's not your fault. You have no choice they are your guild and you must support them if our guilds are to fight against each other." I whispered sadly. "Just promise me one thing."
"Anything."
"Win with honor." I said kissing him on his cheek as I pulled away. I could hear people coming out way. "I'll see you tonight." I whispered softly kissing him this time on the lips.
He kissed me back softly.
"I promise." He whispered. "Will you be on the new team?" He asked nervously.
"No." I admitted. "I'm a reserved member."
Sting sighed relieved. He let out a breath I didn't realize he was holding. How cute, he was worried about me participating against them. We kissed one last time heading our separate ways before someone saw us.
[Present]
The look in Sting's eyes as Minerva threw Lucy to the ground, was full of uneasiness. I haven't seen that look in him before. I sighed dejectedly remembering also the look of defeat on his face when Natsu bet him.
I growled annoyed and determinedly stood up chugging half of my beer before making my way towards the door, I ignored mostly everyone who was calling out to me. I didn't even look back at Laxus when he called out.
I needed to see him.
As I made my way to Sabertooth I noticed Gajeel up ahead making his way angrily towards the bar.
"Gajeel?" I questioned surprised. During the games he suddenly disappeared letting Natsu take all of the glory of winning.
Gajeel looked up at me surprised, "Junes, where are you going?" Gajeel questioned confused noticing I was alone.
"I'm-I'm…"I stuttered nervously not knowing if I should lie to him or not. I mean he already knew there was something going on with Sting, damn his dragon smell. "I'm going to visit a friend." I admitted softly, not really making eye contact with him. "I just want to make sure he's alright." I muttered gloomily, finally looking back at Gajeel.
Gajeel's dark eyes look over my face once and then sigh annoyed, ruffling his hair in annoyance.
"Losing is a hard thing, especially when it's to someone they swore to defeat. But he's a strong kid, I'm sure he's already back on his feet and training." Gajeel said confidently, trying to make me feel better.
"I know…" I whispered quietly, but then I thought back to that defeated look. "I just want him to know…I don't think he's any weaker." I explained gently, tighten my hands into tight fists. "I don't want him to think any less of himself." I said seriously, staring at Gajeel.
Gajeel stared at me surprise, but then smirk, "Gi-hi, just so you know, the Guild is going to flip once they realize you fell head over heels for a Sabertooth." Gajeel teased, crossing his arms knowingly.
I laughed softly, trying to imagine my brothers' and gramps' reaction and I smile softly. "They are a flamboyant bunch…but they'll understand eventually that I'm happy." I answered Gajeel happily.
Gajeel then smile faintly at me and ruffled my hair.
"Stop that! Why does everyone do that! I'm not a kid anymore, I'm older than you!" I hissed, annoyed, trying to fix my messy blond locks.
Gajeel simply chuckled and started to make his way back to the bar, "I never saw you Junes." He yelled over his shoulder, waving goodnight.
I smile softly at Gajeel's back. He's really taking this brother thing seriously. I sighed relieved and glanced up at the stars and moon solemnly. I narrowed my eyes in determination and sprint off to the inn where Sabertooth was staying.
I looked at the huge inn, noticing that all the lights were still on, which means the whole Guild is probably still awake. I clicked my tongue in annoyance thinking it was going to be easy to sneak into the Inn and see Sting. Smelling the surrounding area I determined there wasn't anyone keeping guard outside. I sneaked made my way in through one of the many windows and quietly jarred it open slipping in silently.
I walked through the huge halls of the inn trying to focus on finding Sting's smell, I finally picked up a faint smell not too far up ahead. I slowly crept to the giant double doors, quietly opening them slightly so I could get better look inside. I was surprised when I saw mostly all of Sabertooth in there, it looked like they were having a meeting.
"The Twin Dragons of Sabertooth?!" I heard someone mock loudly, angrily.
I slipped into the room silently making my way through the coward of Sabertooth trying not to draw attention to myself. I found a pillar and hid behind it trying to get a better look of who was yelling. It was Jiemma, Sabertooth's Master, he was standing in front of everyone. In front of him I could make out Rogue and Sting standing there, both of them with their shoulders slump in defeat. I angrily tighten my grip on the pillar, not liking the tone Jiemma was using on Sting.
"That was a pathetic excuse of a fight! It was weak! You both were weak!" Jiemma shouted angrily at them.
I glared angrily at Jiemma, 'How dare he, Sting was anything but weak.' I thought furiously.
I gasped shock, but quickly covered my mouth when Sting and Rogue were both thrown to the wall harshly. I felt my boiling anger course through my body at how Sting was being treated for simply losing one fight. I thought he was supposed to be the Master. I thought this was a Guild. Master and guild mates don't treat each other like this.
"Take them off! Strip yourselves of Sabertooth's mark! You two aren't worthy of them!" Jiemma growled harshly.
My eyes widen in shock, feeling tears burning around my eyes.
"How cruel…" I mumbled softly against my hand.
"What's this an intruder?" I heard someone state amuse from behind me.
I gasped shock when I was roughly grab my arm and yank into the full room. The coward made way for the mask man who was dragging me across the full room.
"Master, I found this woman snooping around the Inn."
I groaned softly when I was thrown to the ground by the mask man, that man was about to get his ass whoop, if he touched me again. I don't care if they are Sting's guild mates. I quickly got onto my knees looking around the room angrily and then at the man who rough handed me.
"I wasn't snooping! I was simply looking for Sting!" I growled angrily, glaring daggers at him.
He stepped back slightly in fear and I smirked.
"Who the hell is girl?!" Jiemma demanded angrily, glaring at me and I just glared right back at him.
"Ju-June, what the hell are you doing here?!" Sting yelled at me shock, a look of pure fear in his crystal blue eyes.
We just stared at each other, I grabbed a fist full of my skirt, tightly tugging on it. "I needed to make sure you were alright." I replied determinedly, never breaking eye contact with him.
He look at me stun from where he laid, confuse even.
"What is this?!" Jiemma growled angrily, narrowing his eyes at me. "You're concern about this pathetic excuse of a Dragon Slayer. He's weak! You shouldn't waste your time on trash!" Jiemma yelled vulgarly at me.
I glare at him hotly, feeling the anger heating up my core again, "SHUT UP!" I yelled furiously, my anger tears burning to come out. "Sting isn't weak! He's far from weak! So what if he lost against Natsu! I don't care! If Sting really tries and works hard I know someday he'll beat Natsu! He'll become the strongest Dragon Slayer!" I yelled confidently at Jiemma, a couple tears of frustration slipping down my cheeks.
"Juneaux…" I heard Sting whispered disbelief.
"Sting isn't weak or pathetic! He's the strongest and bravest person I've ever meet! You have no right to talk to him like that!" I continued furiously, clinching my fists angrily. "You can't talk to the man I love like that, because he's 10 times the wizard you'll ever be!"
The whole room went quiet, but I didn't care that all of Sabetooth knew about Sting and I. I only care about Sting's reaction. I stared at him tearfully, snuffling softly, "I love you Sting Eucliffe." I whispered tenderly, smiling tearfully at him. "I will love you through your defeats and triumphs. I'll always love you." I said wholeheartedly.
Sting stare at me shocked. I could see a faint smile on his lips. Before Sting could say anything Jiemma yelled angrily.
"STING!" Jiemma exclaimed furiously. "Is this the fucking reason you lost today?! Because of this piece of trash! You've brought fucking Fairy trash in here!" He screamed staring at me murderously.
I heard a lot people around us gasp shocked at the fact that I was from Fairy Tail. Then I could hear people murmuring that I was Juneaux Dreyar, one of the S class Mages from Fairy Tail.
"You piece of Fairy trash, coming in here and telling me to shut up. Unacceptable!" he screamed furiously.
"M-m-master, please, Juneaux is actually a really nice person." Suddenly a small timid voice speak up bravely.
I looked to my side and was surprised to see Lector walking towards me slowly. He stood in front of me bravely.
"June would never do anything to bring shame to Sabertooth. June respects and likes Sting too much to do anything to bring harm to him and his guild. I know June must cheer for her guild, but if she could she would cheer for us too." Lector said shakily. "June loves Sting and Sting loves June, they make each other happy, shouldn't that be that only thing that matters, master?" he questioned naively.
"Lector…" I whispered softly, looking at the little cat tearfully.
"Who the hell are you?!" Jiemma hissed harshly, narrowing his eyes at Lector angrily.
"M-master come on, it's me, Lector. I'm part of Sabertooth." Lector explained nervously, slowly lifting up his vest and showing his guild mark.
I could see it in Jiemma's eyes, something had snapped in him and nothing good was going to come from this.
"A fucking cat part of Sabertooth?! A damn Fairy thinking she belongs here!" Jiemma yelled heatedly. "UNACCEPTABLE!" Jiemma screamed furiously. "DIE!"
Everything seem to move in slow motion as I quickly stumbled my way towards Lector.
"LECTOR!" I yelled fretfully.
I finally reached him holding him securely to my chest as bright white light wrapped around us. I stared at Sting's horrified blue eyes with my tearfully blue eyes.
"Sting…" Lector and I both said softly, as Sting disappeared from my view.
'I love you…' I thought sadly embracing my death.
I'm glad I was able to confess my love for Sting before I died. Laxus and Gramps won't be too happy, they will probably start a war. I wish I could have told them what Sting meant to me and not to blame Sabertooth for their Master's actions. I wish I had more time I thought tearfully.
[Nobody's POV]
"Lector! Juneaux!" Sting screamed distraughtly.
He couldn't believe it. They were just standing there. The only thing that remind was a dark patch from the attack. Sting stumble to his feet yelling out in pain as he sobbed angrily. She was just there, telling him she loved him. Lector, defining her. How were they gone, the two most precious people to him.
"What the fuck have you done?!" Sting shouted somberly, furiously tugging on his blond hair.
As every fond moment he share with Juneaux over the past couple of days swam through his head. His memories of Lector mashing in their as well.
"Sting, shut up, crying over a pathetic girl and cat is stupid." Jiemma scowled angrily at Sting.
Sting eyes widen in anger, clinching his fists angrily, "Pathetic girl?" Sting hissed angrily, glaring tearfully at Jiemma. "She…she loved me! She was strong! She believed in me! And you fucking took her from me!" Sting screamed disconsolately.
Before anyone could say anything else Sting attacked Jiemma with a powerful wave of holy white energy. Jiemma groaned painfully before falling onto the ground. Everyone looked at Sting shocked. They couldn't believe what he just did. Everyone watched Sting scream in pain as tears continue to flow down freely.
"Excellent." Minerva suddenly spoke up happily, smirking evilly. "This new found power will do perfectly in winning the games." Minerva explain joyously.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Sting hissed angrily at Minerva.
"The games?! June's dead! Lector's dead! There are no more games!" Sting growled angrily, glaring at Minerva.
"Oh relax will you Sting. They aren't dead." Minerva spoke evilly, smiling sinister at Sting.
"What?" Sting questioned stun.
"Before father's attack fully absorb them, I use my magic and teleported them somewhere else." Minerva explained slyly, looking at Sting knowingly.
"Really…thank you my Lady!" Sting yelled happily, relief washing over him. "Give them back." Sting beg desperately, "Give her back."
"No." Minerva said firmly.
"What?" Sting yelled angrily .
"I will not give them back until you win us the games with your new found power. Seems that girl was usefully after all, her supposed death helped you unleash a new found power or did it not?" Minerva question slyly. "Sting, if you win us the games, I'll safely give them back to you." Minerva promised, smirking at Sting.
Sting stare at her disbelief, but some relief wash through him at knowing Juneaux and Lector were alright. But if he wanted them back, he would have to defeat Juneaux's family to get her back. He just wants her back, he wants the woman he loves back.
"Ok, I'll do it." Sting agreed firmly, whipping his tears away. A stone hard look replacing the grief and uneasiness.
Defeating Fairy Tail is a sacrifice he's willingly to make to bring Juneaux back to him. Even if it meant winning without honor.
"I'm sorry sunshine…" Sting whispered somberly.
