Spider reunion?

*Currently at the Daily Bugle with Spider-man*

Spider-man leaps into action taking on the few symbiote creatures, that had their sight on potentially bonding with one of the workers of the Bugle. Unlike facing regular thugs, Spidey has to use more of his strength and deal more damage to the symbiotes to defeat them.

"These symbiotes got to be looking for some human host. So a few things; first save any employees in the building while fighting these monsters and then figure out how these symbiotes are being made." Once they are taking care of, Spider-man sees through a glass window a machine that is set on-off. He shoots out his web to hit the switch causing the fan in the ceiling to activate and in-process tearing the sticky trap created by the symbiotes and release the hostage.

"Thank you Spider-man!" The regular employee yells from the above to our hero.

"No problem, now hurry up and get to safety!" Spider-man commands before resuming his search for clues. Quickly entering another part of the building, Spidey takes on two more symbiote enemies and recuses another hostage in the access panel room.

"Sheesh, these guys require a lot of damage to deal with physically. Shouldn't be surprising due to my experience with fighting Eddie, so I'm going to have to rely on my web gloves for more impact on my attacks." You know this might be the first time that I have seen this place so empty." Our hero makes a mental note before checking his web cartridges to make sure he will have enough to use.

Spidey looks up to see the door on the ceiling open, and then web-zips himself up muttering, "Oh yeah, I so bet there are no symbiotes up here either." Of course, our hero is being sarcastic for Spidey turns and sees another symbiote minion guarding another worker.

"Help. If you turn on the air condition, the fan should break me free." The worker weakly requests before Spider-man beats up the symbiote.

"Don't worry; I will get you out. You might want to stand back because when I activate the fan, it turns on I don't want you to get slice up and becoming symbiote food." Spider-man commands the hostage. He jumps down to where the unit is and sets it to high so the fan can cut through the sticky trap. With the wall down, Spidey switches the unit to off so the hostage can escape.

Now the few workers are out of danger, Spider-man can focus on figuring out where the minions are coming from with a trail in sight heading into another section of the building. "They seem to be coming from the basement." Spidey guesses, seeing that the elevator door cover with the same red sticky substance as before. Opening the door despite the elevator already going down, Spider-man leaps down to go to the Bugle's basement.

*at the Daily Bugle with Spider-Woman*

Unlike his male counterpart, Spider-Woman handles the symbiote foes slightly better due to her bio-webbing aiding her in battle. She has more to deal with while rescuing the security guards trap by them, however. "Where the bloody hell these pests are coming from?! Like seriously, it's like they are multiplying. Thankfully my bio-web blasts are taking them out quickly."

Once she defeats the new enemy, Spider-Woman quickly recovers the one police officer, and guards move them towards the front door of the building.

"Thank you for saving us Spider-Woman. Those monsters came at us out of nowhere." The officer said, still shaken up by what he experienced just now.

"No problem at all, and I'm sorry you and your crew had to deal with them. Can you tell me exactly where the creatures started coming from when the attack occurred?" Jessica responds compassionately, not wanting to push for answers.

"One of the boys yelled something for help from the basement, so that may be where those things started invading the Bugle. Thankfully the old guy Jameson isn't here. He would somehow blame this on Spider-man." The officer answers while catching his breath.

Hearing the last part of the police officer's statement, intrigues Jessica. "You believe Spider-man is innocent despite what's been show on the news about him?"

The officer looks at her with an aspiration expression. "Heck yeah. I heard the web-slinger save Jameson from the hunter guy, but before that, his actions have shown that he's a hero. I think some maniac is trying to ruin his reputation, and it doesn't help when people already think he is a menace. What about you? Even though you both carry the spider in your names, what's your thoughts on Spider-man?"

A wave of guilt rushes over Jessica when her thoughts drift towards Peter, from what she initially thought of him as Spider-man vs. after getting to know him behind the mask. Despite her opinion about him changing, she would never have expected to fall for him. Sure the plan to act like she was into him originally was part of the scheme. However, that all change after spending time with Peter and understanding his reasons for being Spider-man. Plus, she learns more about the type of person he makes Jessica feel even worst for still treating him bad when his mask is on.

"Honestly, I was on the side of thinking negative towards him, but recent events have revealed to me that he's a misunderstood hero. I believe he needs the right kind of people supporting him, especially right now, as he is attempting to clear his name." Spider-woman honestly says, hiding the pain as she spoke.

Not wanting to pry in The officer offers his input concerning the hero of discussion. "Well, for what it's worth, hopefully, you can be one of those peoples for him. Not only would you two be a cool team but also a great superhero couple, and I'm not saying that because of obvious reasons."

Jessica softly laughs at him but also gains more hope that she can fix things with Peter and maybe explore a future with him. "We will see about that; any way you better get out of here Officer..."

"Brien. Officer Bernard O'Brien." Officer Brien introduces himself before extending his hand out for a handshake. Spider-woman shakes it with Officer Brien requesting one last thing from her, which she agrees to before going back in the building to continue the mission. Remembering the information that she received, Spider-woman rushes over to the elevator door to head down to the basement.

Standing inside, the elevator as it goes down, Spider-Woman reflects on recent events concerning her time with Peter. Mostly due to the talk she just had with Officer Bernard, not to mention she hasn't seen any sign of him since arrive at his workplace. "I can't believe I haven't run into Peter yet, surely with what's going on at his workplace he would have already shown upright? Now that I said that, he probably arrives earlier and is far ahead of me. It might be for the best for now until I can figure out how to get him to forgive me and let me tell him my true feelings."

The memory of Peter yelling at her after discovering her original reason to pretend to date him comes to mind. Remembering seeing the pain in his eyes and voice, Spider-Woman punches the elevator wall out of frustration and growls, saying to herself, "Stupid Jess, why couldn't you tell him the truth before it became too late? I don't even care if Steve or Tony kick me out of the team and replace me for Peter at this point. I rather that happen if it meant having one last chance to...". At that moment, the elevator stops moving, causing Spider-Woman to push the button a few times to start back working, which annoys Spider-woman even more.

"Are you kidding me right now!? That's it going in bio-webbing and blazing." Spider-Woman charges her hands and shoots out her energy blast to blow down the door. She notices a door panel switch and quickly activates it revealing another sticky wall trap cover my the symbiotes blocking her way. Spider-woman proceeds into blasting down the wall and entering the door that leads her to the basement.

"Once inside, Spider-Woman stops and notices a strange looking machine with pink orbs on each side. Spider-Woman cautiously approaches the device until some substance comes out and turns into the symbiote monster she face-off earlier. "No wonder those mini symbiotes keep popping up, this generator is creating them."

Swiftly Spider-Woman blasts the symbiote and destroys the generator before it can create another one. She begins to pat her hands and comment on her handy work until, out of nowhere, a familiar voice catches her attention, saying, "Those devices aren't cheap, Jessica. Keep that up, and you will pay with your life, which works for me."

Jessica's eyes grow wide in shock for the realization of who the person becomes evident. "No, it can't be." She turns her head towards the ceiling to confirm her suspicion. "Witter?"

The female spider shadow acknowledges Jessica by jumping down from her hiding spot gracefully to make her presence know. "Surprise to see me?"

Spider-Woman immediately gets in a fighting stance preparing for the worse. Charlotte Witter is an old rival of Jessica due to Charlotte wanting to be the one, and only Spider-Woman after Doctor Octavius captures her and performs harsh experiments giving Charlotte her powers. Once gaining her abilities, Witter sets her sights on Jessica but gets defeated by the hero. "What are you doing here? Are you responsible for the symbiote generators?!"

"I will take that as a yes. As far as your next question, no, however, I am working with the person who is, and he doesn't appreciate you getting involved with his business in his plans." Charlotte answers cryptically.

"Are you working with Doctor Octavius again? Tell me who the mastermind is or else!" Spider-Woman demands thinking the worse that the so call reform scientist was responsible for creating the symbiote devices, which wouldn't surprise her considering it was because of him that Witter is what she is now.

Charlotte pretends to think about her decision before giving a response. "Well, when you put it that way my old friend, I will go with or else. If you can catch me, you might earn a reward." She runs away to make Jessica chase her to her trap.

"Come back here!" Jessica calls out before going after her, not knowing what her rival has in store.

*Back with Spider-man*

Spider-man so far has successfully traveled throughout the bottom parts of the building. Like his female counterpart, Spider-man discovers the symbiote generator while exploring the printing section. Fighting through the symbiote minions, Spidey journeys to the basement in hopes to find answers there. "Finally, the basement of the Daily Bugle, whoever is controlling the symbiotes, has got to be down here."

As he was doing already, Spidey takes out the machines to keep the symbiote army from growing. At some point, he stops at a furnace-like gate that opens and closes to let the smoke out. For a moment, Spider-man thinks that he is looking at a mirror. "Am I seeing things, or is that me in my old suit?"

Spidey web swings over only for few pipes to explode, causing his spider-sense to go off. "Seriously, like jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire!" Fortunately, he didn't take damage though the Spider-man shadow disappears, thus making Spider-man continue his search. Spidey takes down some more symbiotes and machines until he stumbles out of nowhere the other Spiderman, where he quickly addresses the fake.

"Hey?!" The real Spider-man shouts.

"Hey!" The fake Spiderman said back in a mocking tone.

"The imposter!"

"The imposter!" They both do the exact pose leading to the fake Spider-man to run away.

"Don't make me come after you!" Spider-man yells in pursuit, witnessing the imposter Spiderman running into a wall that turns out to be an illusion.

"That's the guy who framed me, and the one who stole the technology!" Spider-man runs inside to stop the imposter once and for all but is not ready for he will encounter next.

Author note: Yes, I know it's been a long time since this story was updated. Honestly, I am mad at myself for not getting back into this fanfic. As I express to a few authors here, I have been dealing with writing anxiety, so I been trying to overcome it, so I get back to bringing in content. As far as this update goes, it was mostly filler, but I decided to bring in a villain for Jessica to deal with since she mainly has been dealing with Peter's rogue gallery. I did tweak Charlotte's back story to make her more of a rival for Jessica. Officer Brien is an Easter egg character; can you guess his role in the comics? What you think will happen in the next chapter?
