Here is chapter 2's rewrite for you! I am tired, so feel free to leave a review and let me know how you like the rewritten chapters. I'm gonna get started on ch. 3, but it'll take longer because I'm writing that chapter from scratch. Wish me luck and enjoy this chapter!
Sara groaned as she began to wake up. She was expecting to feel the cold, hardwood of Mary's living room floor beneath her, but instead felt soft wet grass in-between her finger. Her eyes widened as she stared at the ground in surprise. She was sure she hadn't been outside when she passed out. She slowly stood up and looked at her surroundings. Tall evergreens were surrounded her, she appeared to be in a forest of some kind, but there weren't any forests near Mary's house, that's when it all came back to her. She quickly checked her body for any sign of injuries, she was fine, though. No bruises, no broken bones, cuts, or anything. She sighed, relieved, before looking around again. She saw that nothing else, aside from her surroundings, had changed. She was still in her Viking outfit and still had her satchel, which was lying on the ground next to her.
A cold morning breeze blew by, causing her to shiver as it hit her. She silently cursed about how her extra layer had done nothing to shield her from the cold. But, it was better than not having it at all. She pulled her vest closer to her body and then bent down to grab her satchel, slinging it over her head. When she looked down at the ground again, her wand, that had seemingly sent her there, was lying on the ground, a small glow emitted from it before fizzling out as she kneeled down to pick it up. She glared at it skeptically, resisting the urge to just toss it into a bush somewhere, before putting it back in her satchel. She look around again, searching for any signs of a civilization. She perked up when she spotted a few trails of chimney smoke reaching up past the trees.
She smiled. "Finally, maybe I can ask somebody for help." She thought as she began to walk towards the smoke.
As Sara neared the town, which the smoke was coming from, she caught glimpses at a few houses. They looked wooden and seemed like they were built recently. When she was at the forest line, she looked at the houses again, they were make of wood, but the architecture looked almost familiar to her, and they were somewhat Viking-like.
"Wait a minute." She thought. She noted the villagers that were walking about in a hurry. They were Vikings. They are Vikings!? "But, that can't be right. They almost look like the Vikings in...the...movie. Oh, no." She sneakily made her way closer to the buildings, stopping herself from just staring at them, and listened closely as the Vikings conversed.
"Good job wranglin' that Nadder." One Viking said.
"Thanks, I wanna try gettin' a Nightmare during the next raid."
"Ha, I'd like to see you try!"
"Ooooh!" Sara started to panic. "Please tell me I'm just dreaming! Don't tell me my sister was right and I got too excited and I got sucked into the movie!" She took deep breaths to try and calm down. After a moment, she finally decide that if she wanted to go home, she was going to need some help from a certain hiccup. The girl took another deep breath before stepping out from her hiding spot and blended into the crowd of Vikings.
"I am SO glad I decided to wear my Viking outfit." She thought as she weaved through the crowd of very large Vikings. She didn't want to know how they would react to seeing a girl wearing a T-shirt with a picture of Toothless on it. She was almost to the coast near the village, still trying to find the one person who could possibly help her. If she was going to find Hiccup all she needed to do was listen for the sound of completely dry sarcasm.
"What do you want, Snotlout?" There it is!
Sara followed the voice behind a building, away from the crowd of adult Vikings. She peeked around the corner to see Hiccup being surrounded by Snotlout, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut. She narrowed her eyes, wait, where was Astrid and Fishlegs? Maybe they didn't want to deal with Snotlout's stupidity today. She scowled as she saw Snotlout approach Hiccup.
"Oh, nothing." He said having a smug look on his face that Sara was just itching to give a good punch to. "Just thought I'd give my favorite cousin beating." He grabbed Hiccup by his tunic and reeled his fist back and was ready to punch him.
This was enough for the hidden girl to step out of her hiding place and yell. "Hey! Snotface!"
"Whoops, probably should have worded that differently but, at least he's distracted." She thought right after.
"Um, the names Snotlout. And who might you be?" The bully Viking asked. Sara sneered at him.
"I'm someone who's gonna punch your face in if you don't leave him alone!" Sara declared, walking closer to the group. That made Snotlout and the twins laugh. She frowned. "What's so funny?"
"You really think you're strong enough to beat me?" Snotlout laughed, dropping Hiccup to the ground in favor of attempting to intimidate the new girl. "I mean, look at you. You're just a girl version of Hiccup."
"Yeah, but way prettier." Tuffnut said with his eyes wide open and in a dreamy state. Ruffnut slapped her twin out of his daydreaming state and rolled her eyes, as did Sara.
"So, why don't you go back to playing with your dolls or pick some flowers or something." Snotlout said before turning back to face Hiccup, who was still on the ground. "Now…"
"How about 'or something'?" Sara curled up her fist and raised it as she ran towards Snotlout.
"Huh?" He turned around, only to get socked in the face and stumbled back.
"Ooh!" The twins and Hiccup said, wincing.
"Still think I'm not strong enough, Snotface?" Sara smirked.
"That's it!" Snotlout said, holding his nose. He yelled out his version of a battle cry, which sound more like an annoyed yell than anything, and charged at Sara.
Sara hardly blinked, Snotlout had no tactic at all and she easily avoided his 'attack' by simple stepping aside. She stuck her foot out for good measure, causing him to fall and tumble to the ground. Sara smiled, satisfied with her work.
"Okay." Ruffnut said. "You're my new best friend now."
"Strong and pretty." Tuffnut said, having another dreamy look in his eyes. Sara chuckled lightly as the twins started to overflow her with complements on how she beat up Snotlout, even though all she really did was trip him. Speaking of Snotlout, he was just getting up and walked over to them.
"This isn't over!" He said as he began to walk away with a scowl on his face. "Come on!" He told Ruff and Tuff, who, in turn, groaned but followed him anyway.
After the Viking bullies were out of sight, Sara held out a hand to Hiccup, who was still on the ground and helped him up. Hiccup was hesitant as first, but accepted the hand.
"You okay?" Sara asked him.
"Uh...yeah, I'm good." Hiccup said in an awkward fashion.
Sara chuckled at the awkwardness. "That's good." She responded in her own awkward manner.
Hiccup chuckled nervously. "Uh, thanks for...uh...beating up Snotlout."
"Oh, no problem, I mean, I didn't really beat him up. I just tripped him, that's all." Sara smiled. "Besides, I was on my last nerve with that guy." She added in a mumble.
"Huh?" Hiccup raised an eyebrow.
"Nothing." Sara quickly covered up with an innocent tone.
"Oh." He cleared his throat. "My name's Hiccup, by the way."
Sara accidently let out a small chuckle.
"Hey, it's not the worst. Parents here believe a hideous name will frighten off gnomes and trolls." He then mumbled. "Like our charming Viking demeanor wouldn't do that."
Sara heard what he had said and chuckled again. Not just because it was a line in the movie, but it was said to her in person.
"I hope all the lines in the movie are funnier in person." She thought.
"And you are…?"
"Oh! I'm…" Sara trailed off. Should she give him her real name? With all the names these Vikings have, 'Sara' might stand out, just a wee bit. She guessed a more 'viking'-like name would be better for blending in.
"I'm Sage." She finally said, trying to stop her small chuckles from escaping. What was the point of lying if her laugh gave it away?
Hiccup blushed at her chuckles. He was expecting some sort of mocking laugh like usual, not a sweet, kind chuckle. "This girl is different from the others." Hiccup thought. "She's actually being nice to me. Alright, Hiccup, don't mess this up."
"So, uh, I've never seen you around before." Hiccup said.
"I wouldn't expect you to. I actually just got here." Sara, now the newly named Viking Sage, said.
"Really?" Hiccup said, surprised. "I didn't see any ships enter the dock this morning."
Sara staggered with her words, trying to come up with an excuse, other than the 'I'm from a different dimension' one. "Well, I, uh, sort of, uh, landed, crashed, on...the...other side, of the island. Over that way. Far over there." She said as she pointed to the direction headed to the woods.
"Oh, I see." Hiccup said, noticing her staggering, but decided not to call it out right away. "So, did you come with any others?"
"N-No." Sara said sadly, reminded of her sister and friend, who were probably freaking out right now.
"Oh." Hiccup said. "You don't have any place to stay, do you?"
"Nope." She answered.
"Well, you could stay with me? At my house, I mean." He asked nervously. "My house is pretty big, so you could stay in one of the spare rooms. We'll just have to ask my dad, but I'm sure he'll let you stay with us for a while when he hears what happened."
"You'd really do that?" Sara said with wide, hopeful eyes.
"Y-Yeah." Hiccup nodded.
"Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you!" Sara exclaimed as she hugged him by instinct. She then immediately let go. "S-Sorry!"
"No, no, it's okay." Hiccup said. "It's fine. It was actually kind of nice." He blushed, as did Sara.
The girl internally groaned, she always had a crush on Hiccup, but he and Astrid had the cutest relationship. Even if they haven't happened yet, Sara didn't even want to think of the timeline changes if Hiccup and Astrid never got together. But the thoughts that did sweep past her mind were not good at all.
Hiccup cleared his throat. "So shall we get going?" He asked.
"O-Of course." Sage answered. "Lead the way."
"Right, uh, this way."
