Hello fellow witches and wizards! I am happy to say that Dreamcatchers Quill will be continuing, if slowly. We took a pause for life stuff, but now I'm one engineering degree heavier and looking to delve back into the magic woven into this story. Unfortunately Anna is off adventuring, so I will be doing my best to tell her side of the story as well. It may take some time to get the feel for where we were at, so please be patient but I hope to get this back up and going soon! Thanks for all yall's support! ~SassyPrincesses

Elsa 12

I scooped up my papers and knocked them on the table to get them in a neat stack, then pulled out my Investigation folder to tuck them safely inside. Hiro and Anna had quickly made their way out of the room, probably in pursuit of food.

Once the space was clean, I rose to meet River's expectant glance. Together, we stepped out into the now boisterous hall.

"You aren't actually going to leave Hiccup alone, are you?" My lip was curving upward mischievously.

"Of course not! Something is definitely going on. The other day, he smelled like fish, and that wasn't even a meal at any point in time that week."

"So. what's the plan of action?"

"Not sure yet, I'll figure something out…" She paused then turned excitedly, "You are going on the Hogsmeade trip tomorrow, right?!"

I looked at the ground. "Well, actually I was thinking about getting ahead on some homewor-".

River stopped in her tracks, "I can't believe I'm hearing this. You would miss our first ever opportunity to leave campus, other than holidays, to do homework? Not even homework. Homework that isn't even due right away. No. Even if I have to kidnap you, you are coming."

I sighed with a smile on my face, "Fine. If you insist."

"I insist. Now if you will excuse me, I have some work that needs to get done." I was going to give her props for finally taking an interest in her studies when I noticed the gleam in her eye. Her studies were the last thing on her mind. "See you bright and early tomorrow morning!" With that she was gone.

Skillfully maneuvering through the crowded hallway, I made my way to the Great Hall to grab something easy to take with me and headed up the ravenclaw tower steps.

Along the way Lily ran to the front of her painting, very excited. "So? How did your…" She lowered her voice to a whisper, "Super-Secret Meeting" then rose back to normal, "go?"

"Not so great. All of our leads were dead ends. It's just the clues are so random, it's going to take someone really smart to put them together, but I'm sure one of us will figure something out."

Lily nodded her head, deep in thought. So, in thought, she turned around and began to walk off without saying anything. I awkwardly stood there a moment before quietly excusing myself. No point in interrupting her.

When I reached the top of the steps, I found Anna's blonde friend, Rapunzel I believe her name was, standing outside the door, looking annoyed.

She turned at my entrance and looked very grateful. "I'm so glad you are here! I can't seem to figure this one out…"

I smiled at her reassuringly, "Don't worry about it, you can't get them all."

I stepped towards the door and the knocker recited, "There is a clerk at the butcher shop. He is five feet, ten inches tall and wears size 13 sneakers. What does he weigh?"

I looked at the knocker for a moment, he seemed very proud of himself for this riddle he had spun. There must be some twist because you were never going to determine his weight mathematically with that information. Rapunzel seemed to look at me expectantly.

"Please repeat it again."

"There is a clerk at the butcher shop. He is five feet, ten inches tall and wears size 13 sneakers. What does he weigh?"

Clerk at a butcher shop. Butcher shop… That was the key. I laughed and turned towards Rapunzel, "What have you guessed so far?"

She scowled at the floor, "I've been systematically guessing appropriate male weights."

I nodded my head, "Smart." Then turned my body towards the door and stated, "Meat. He weighs meat."

It was the knocker's turn to scowl, "That was supposed to be doosey. When you get them right away it takes the fun out of it." The door swung open.

Rapunzel was shaking her head. "Meat… Are you kidding me?!" Then she blushed, "Thanks for helping me."

"That's the entire point of the riddles, so we can share the knowledge."

She nodded then took a seat at the table by the window. She pulled out some pages and laid them out in front of her, careful to leave half the table empty, "I'm assuming you are here to study as well? Want to join me? It's too nice a day to sit alone."

"Oh. Um. Sure." Usually, I like a secluded place for me to truly think, but I guess being around someone else would be nice as well.

I moved over to the empty chair and set my bag down next to it.

We worked in silence for a bit until I noticed Rapunzel staring down at her paper in confusion with her wand poised in front of her. She would waggle the wand and whisper something and when nothing happened, she'd flip through her papers.

I allowed her to work on it for a little while longer, but I couldn't help the feeling she needed help. "What are you working on?"

She looked up like I startled her. "Oh. Umm well, I was trying to cast the fire making spell. Inceindo. It's just I can't seem to get the shape right to get even a spark."

I smiled, "Well it usually helps when you say it a bit louder… And you might want to do it somewhere you aren't going to burn your notes up. You only make that mistake once." I popped out of my chair with more enthusiasm than I thought I had. "Come on." She slowly stood as well. "Now try it."

She waved her wand and said the words a bit louder, but still nothing happened. I moved to the left and asked her to do it again. She repeated her movements and I saw the problem.

"Watch your elbow. When you fling it up higher than it needs to go then it slightly distorts the shape you are trying to make. Think of the shape like a small flame. Now try it again."

She took a deep breath and then moved through the motions with her elbow down by her side. I held back a laugh, "No. You have to use your elbow, just not as much."

With a blush she tried one more time and to her delight a couple small sparks sizzled from the tip of her wand. She looked at me expectantly and I nodded encouragingly.

She tried over and over as I gave small tips here and there, and soon she had a nice little flame spouting dramatically.

"Thank you! This is so cool!"

I smiled warmly, "Of course. I knew you had it in you."

Rapunzel stopped for a moment and looked at me before asking, "Could you possibly help me with the Defense Against the Dark Arts Spell Verdimillious? I mean I can actually get sparks for that one, but they aren't any good."

We spent a good portion of the night working on spells and I even helped her study her History of Magic some. It was enjoyable to work with such an eager pupil. We even spoke of non-studious topics at times.

People passed through the Common Room, talking and just being the boisterous students, they are. Once almost everyone had disappeared to their rooms, Rapunzel gathered her papers and stood.

"Thank you for assisting me."

I nodded then decided I needed to give more than that, "Ya. It was fun… I ummm- Feel free umm." I smiled, "Any time."

She gripped her papers a little tighter as a shy smile spread across her face. "Night." And with that she was gone, trailing her long braid behind her.

I sighed and set back to my own work. Standing where Rapunzel spun many spells tonight, I tried the newest incantation the Doctor had taught us the other day.

As graceful as possible, I waved my wand in an arc then quickly pulled up and called, "Glacius!"

Ice shot vehemenously from my wand and struck the stone ground of the tower. I watched it ironically as I wondered what the purpose of such a wicked spell is. It is simply an element; it is the person wielding it that makes it wicked.

I laughed aloud one short, sarcastic grunt of a laugh then spun the spell again.

"Woah! I think you win, but what did the floor do to receive such a beating?"

I turned around with a small smile, "I don't know… it was eyeing me weird." I found a very dishevelled looking boy with his hands in his front pockets, "Hey Tadashi."

"Hey." He continued into the room and took a seat on the couch and set some papers down.

I moved to my spot and cleaned up then joined him. "So is tonight the night I finally get to see what you have been working on? Those last couple papers that seem to be forbidden from my view?"

He smiled and shook his head, "Not tonight, but eventually...maybe."

I sighed, "Why not? Maybe I can help."

"Because it's just not ready yet. The idea isn't conceived enough." Purposely changing the subject, he asked, "are you alright? You seemed off earlier."

I looked at my grey flats, "Oh ya, fine. I just had a lot on my mind."

"When don't you?"

"You're one to talk! Hidden designs, constantly contemplating what makes things tick."

"Yes, but I'm not hiding from people."

"I don't hide!" then added in a mumble, "I mean, not physically. Usually..." He gave me a pointed look. "Fine. Maybe a little, but we all have secrets. I'm no different from anyone else in that respect."

He spoke gently, "I know. I'm just saying it's not always good to bottle things up."

"So you want to be my confidant?"

"I'm here if you would like to share, but it doesn't have to be me."

I began to grow annoyed at his persistence, it reminded me too much of Anna, but then I found a new angle to the whole ordeal which settled me right down."Ok, but if you want one of my secrets, I get one of yours." I looked at the set of designs on the table even though I knew it wasn't in there.

He got the message and through slightly slitted eyes and a smile he said, "You are evil Ms. Arendelle. Manipulative and evil."

I smiled innocently as he contemplated. "What type of secret are we talking about here?"

"Perhaps a 6 of 10 on the juicy scale. Not my deepest darkest, but it's not Kitten litter. Anyways, I hardly think what is on those pages is your deepest secret either."

With a sigh he began to dig through his bag and I knew I had won. "Fine, but this goes nowhere. Got it? Not even my brother."

"Nowhere." I repeated, but found it strange that he would hide it from his own brother, with them being so close.

Once he found what he was looking for, he pulled out about five pages of rough designs and words written everywhere. Looking at it from afar it had a certain beauty about it.

"This one is a bigger project than I have otherwise been working on, but I'm hoping it will have the biggest impact on people. In a positive way."

The first page was a laundry list of what he wanted this project to do, have, or want. It clearly defined his purpose and how it would achieve that purpose. That being said inside this laundry list, he had gone and scratched things out and written things in.

"Technically I could read this and you could stare at me as I do or you can just give me a summary."

He leaned over the paper and flipped to the second page, "Well its main purpose is medical attention. The goal would be to have something that is easily storable that would also help at the cue of a trigger word. Something like ow or crying or whatever. Using its programming, it would diagnose the problem and try to administer a solution. That's really all I got at the moment."

As he was speaking, he was pointing to the pictures of carefully drawn cubes, prisms, and a means of horizontal storage, which would then transform into some kind of robot. Turning onto the third page I found a multitude of designs for the said robot. "The first thing I designed was all bulky metal, probably because I was familiar with such a design, but this wouldn't work. It failed the basic requirement of having small storage, plus it's not particularly comforting to be around."

He shifted his focus to the next couple pictures, "So then I tried joints, and sliding strips that work on a conveyer belt type thing, in different areas which would allow it to change its forms."

"Kinda like Transformers?"

He smiled, "Unfortunately yes, but it wasn't very efficient and failed the whole 'cuddly' and 'you can trust me' parts."

"Ok, so solution?"

"Well, that's when I started playing with a little less metal, but also where I got stuck. I need the metal to make it move. The rest of these are just more failed designs. I'll figure it out."

I nodded thoughtfully, "So if you make a metallic base then you could possibly wrap it in fabric and dress it like a human. Makes it relatable in a way."

"But with that it would be very difficult to make it store easily." He sat a moment longer then continued, "Anyways, like I said it's still a work in progress. Now its your turn. What secret did I earn?"

How much of a secret is it really if five people know it now? "There has been some stuff going on around school that's been a little… suspicious."

"Everything that happens in these hallowed halls is suspicious."

"No. I mean more so. It's all really long stories, several of them strung together actually, although whether they are supposed to be strung together or not is a different story, but I seem to keep hearing the same eerie message. 'Something evil is arising.' For such a notable warning it must be big. Plus, there have always been dangerous things in that forest, so why warn us now if it wasn't out of the ordinary? The sorting hat even seemed a bit off this year with that depressing song of his-"

"I actually found it very uplifting. It is time we have some school unity around here."

"Well, ya, but it also mentioned that it was necessary because something bad is coming, whether I am propagandizing that or not is not the point, there is more. A Hufflepuff was seen in the woods moments before a Kitsune was shot with an arrow." His eyebrows rose. "The very next night a Ravenclaw tie was found amongst the trees. "Now we are stuck. We have absolutely no idea what it all means or any direction to go after this."

Handing him the papers he studied each one a moment, "this is peculiar."

"Yep." I sighed, I had kinda hoped he would whip out some solution I hadn't thought of since he is a genius, but that was an unfair expectation.

"So, what is your next move?"

"Haven't quite figured that out yet. Watch the suspects I suppose and find any more peculiar behavior. If you wouldn't mind keeping your eyes peeled on anything peculiar that would be a great help. We can cover more ground."

I could tell he was holding in a laugh and realized how ridiculous I sound. I'm not sure if he even believes me.

After a moment he finally said, "I can do that. Elsa Arendelle, 'Protector of Hogwarts."

I blushed, "I know its all hard to believe I just-"

"Hey, I'm messing with you. I'll keep my eyes peeled like the great spy I am and let you know if I find something."

"Thanks." I felt slightly comforted but wasn't completely sure where I stood with him or if he was still laughing at me. I decided it was better for me to just cut my losses and get some sleep. Apparently, I was going to Hogsmeade tomorrow. I told Tadashi goodnight and headed up to bed.
