Prompt from Obi-Wan Fangirl: And Id love to see Qui Gon play a part in more of the Clone Wars episodes, like how you did it with the Rako Hardeen episode (those were super good! Excellent job!) Maybe something with the Zygerrian arc?

….

Qui-Gon didn't want to admit that he had a bad feeling about all this.

Kiros was a peaceful planet, with no weapons and no real stake in the war… why would the Separatists choose this planet?

"All clear Sir." Cody's voice came over the speaker, "There are no Separatist craft in the system."

"Ten rotations since Master Yoda's transmission." Anakin muttered, staring down at the planet, "Ever get the feeling that you're too late?"

Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon glanced at one another, neither of them wanting to confirm Anakin's fears.

"Cody." Obi-Wan gently spoke up, "Take us down."

"Yes Sir."

They descended slowly on the planet, emerging on land-speeders in order to patrol the streets… the deserted streets.

"Anybody else think it's too quiet?" Anakin whispered, wishing that he had Snips with him. It was unfortunate that she was too injured on the last mission to come along on this one, them being her people and everything, "I haven't seen any colonists."

"They are probably hiding." Qui-Gon muttered beside him, also a little unnerved by the silence, as Obi-Wan and Cody's speeder moved next to them.

"Let's hope it stays that way!" Obi-Wan called over to them, "It's easier when we don't have to worry about them during a fight."

"I don't like it." Cody chimed in, "The Separatists have never been shy about using civilians as living shields."

Qui-Gon couldn't disagree with that, "I'm sure they're around here somewhere. Let's head for the city centre."

As they got closer, droids started to block their path.

"Biker droids dead ahead!" Anakin turned to the others, "Squad, tighten! Form up on me and General Jinn."

As the biker droids charged towards them, the clones all fired on them, with Obi-Wan deflecting all the blaster shots the droids fired back in return.

"Having fun?!" Qui-Gon called out to his old padawan, smirking as the young man twisted around and smirked at him.

"Don't I always?"

In very little time at all, the droids were taken care of, including the waling droids and Separatist tanks that were around the corner.

"Commander, have your men secure the area." Qui-Gon ordered Cody.

….…

"How are we doing Boil?" Obi-Wan asked, as they set up camp

"We're still mopping up the odd clanker here and there." The clone reported, "We've set up a perimeter around the governors' towers. No one is getting out without a fight."

"Good work." Obi-Wan then made his way over to Cody, "Any word from the Separatist commander?"

"he's barricaded himself inside. Goes by the name of Darts D'Nar." Cody then seemed to glance nervously over at Qui-Gon, "He's sent you a message Sir."

For a moment, Qui-Gon believed Cody was talking to him… until he saw Cody hand the comm over to Obi-Wan, causing him to tense up.

It wasn't that he was annoyed that someone saw Obi-Wan as the Jedi in charge, rather than himself. It was because, he had a bad feeling when certain people took an interest in his old padawan.

The young man had a knack for attracting the wrong sort of attention.

"Master Kenobi…" The hologram began, "… Come to the tower. We will negotiate the terms of surrender."

Obi-Wan raised an eyebrow, "Well, that was easy."

Before Qui-Gon could say anything, try and caution him not to let his guard down, the hologram flew out of Cody's hand and straight into Anakin's, as he crushed it.

"Anakin!" Qui-Gon stopped, holding up a hand as the young man opened his mouth to protest, "I am well aware he's a Zygerrian, but you are a Jedi first and foremost. Control your anger."

"… Let me deal with that slaver Master." The young man almost begged.

"No… I'm not thrilled about it, but he asked for Obi-Wan. You need to help find the lost Togruta colonists."

Obi-Wan frowned, but chose not to say anything.

He could handle himself… and he was one of the best negotiators in the Order.

"Set up a planetary bio-scan." Qui-Gon continued to order Anakin, not seeming to notice how tense Obi-Wan was behind him.

As Anakin stormed off, Qui-Gon sighed wearily, turning to Obi-Wan and Cody.

"He seems… upset." Cody was the first to break the silence.

"Anakin has a… difficult past with slavery." Qui-Gon vaguely answered, "I had hoped he would have put it behind him now though."

"We'll keep an eye on him." Obi-Wan promised, "But… maybe he's too close to the situation?"

"We don't have the man-power to send him back… no, we'll just keep him busy." Qui-Gon then glanced at the tower, where the Separatist commander was waiting for Obi-wan, "I don't like this little one, I really don't."

"Do you doubt me?"

Qui-Gon turned to him, a look of shock on his face, as Obi-Wan continued.

"I admit that this is a tough situation, but I can handle myself."

"I never thought you couldn't… but why ask for you specifically?"

Obi-Wan thought about it for a few moments, before shrugging. "Maybe I'm just that popular?" He patted Qui-Gon reassuringly on the shoulder, before heading over to the tower, not seeming to notice the worried look on his Master's face.

….…

"… I am going to make the Jedi pay for their arrogance! I have them right where I want them!"

Obi-Wan couldn't help but smirk as he entered the room, "Oh? Do tell?" He held up two hands as the droids pointed guns at him.

The hologram of a hooded Darth Tyrannus, and another Zygerrian turned to him, as the Sith Lord sneered, "Meet Obi-Wan Kenobi… Jedi Knight." He then turned back, "Bring him to me. On. His. Knees!"

Darts D'Nar scanned Obi-Wan from head to toe, a sly smirk appearing on his face. "With pleasure."

Moving forwards, Obi-Wan kept his hands in the air "I believe we were going to discuss surrendering?"

"Yes… you will surrender."

"We obviously have a misunderstanding my friend." He moved his hands down behind his back, pressing on his communicator.

Qui-Gon would want to hear this.

…..…..

Qui-Gon felt a little ill when the communicator flashed on, hearing the voice of the Separatist commander.

"No, you are wrong Jedi."

"Am i? You are not doubt aware that all of your droid forces have been destroyed and you're surrounded. Do the honourable thing and give up now D'Nar. I promise you will receive fair treatment."

"You have broken through our defences… and you believe you've won? Think again! I have planted bombs all over the city! No one will survive."

Qui-Gon had a bad feeling about this.

"Now surrender."

Obi-Wan resisted the urge to roll his eyes. If he had a coin for every time a commander tried to trick him like this….

"If you're not bluffing, then I'll have to concede, but you'll have to make concessions. First, you release the colonists."

"Hmmmm… here is my counter-offer." D'Nar waved a wand, and the droid beside him pressed a red button, followed by a loud BOOOM and the building shaking slightly.

Obi-Wan felt his heart sink to his stomach, as he raced over to the window, seeing smoke rise up into the air.

"There were no colonists in that section." D'Nar reported from his desk, "But there could have been. Now…" he smirked, "… on your knees and surrender to me."

…...…..

"I need a medic over here!" Qui-Gon yelled, not hearing the words coming from his communicator, "Commander Cody, we don't have time for the planetary bio-scan anymore. Get Anakin to have his droid locate the bombs."

"Yes Sir… but what will you be doing?"

Qui-Gon glanced over at the tower, before taking a deep breath and mentally scolding himself.

Obi-Wan could handle himself.

"Once R2 finds the bombs, we need to disarm them as soon as possible." He eventually answered, "Obi-Wan should be able to keep them occupied until then."

…..

Obi-Wan could practically hear Qui-Gon screaming at him as he placed his lightsabre on the desk. "Alright… I surrender." He whispered.

"Hmmm, long before this war, you Jedi destroyed the great Zygerrian Slave Empire." D'Nar pushed himself to his feet, "I would kill you know but… maybe there are other ways to get revenge."

Feeling those eyes scan him again, Obi-Wan folded his arms over his chest, "I understand your frustrations. It's unfortunate that you and I cannot resolve our differences as you do, in the Zygerrian tradition?"

This was a shot in the dark, but it might work in his favour. Especially when D'Nar's eyes widened and he cackled in delight, getting up in Obi-Wan's face, towering over the Jedi Master.

"With no weapons, you would fight me?!"

"For good reason. Say… if I win, you reveal the location of the colonists and the bombs."

D'Nar thought about it for a few moments, before smirking. "Fine, and if I win, I deliver you to Tyrannus in a cage, like one of these filthy creatures!"

"… Perhaps."

A split second passed, before D'Nar lifted Obi-Wan up by his collar, headbutting him and throwing him to the other end of the room.

Qui-Gon was definitely going to kill him…. If D'Nar didn't manage it first.

He was thrown over D'Nar's shoulder, and then into a statue, cracking it with the force.

Obi-Wan shook his head, trying to get rid of the fuzzy feeling.

"Careful." D'Nar chuckled, "You're disturbing my pets. They fetch a high price!"

…..…

"General Jinn…" Cody reported over the communicator, "… R2 is transmitting the coordinates of the bombs now."

"Copy that Commander, we're approaching the first bomb now." Qui-Gon glanced over at Anakin, "Let's go."

The droids guarding the bomb were easy to take care of, as Qui-Gon opened up the bomb and frowned, "There must be some wire to cut… or a way to dismantle the timer." He mused, only to be moved to one side as Anakin sliced at it twice with his saber, the bomb whining once before falling silent.

"Anakin." Qui-Gon sighed wearily, "What have I told you about guessing?"

"Who was guessing? I followed my instincts."

"Guessing!"

Anakin shrugged, "It worked didn't it? Come on, we have a lot more bombs to deal with."

Obi-Wan couldn't help but feel like this was the worse decision he'd ever made in his life. Every hit made breathing harder and sent shockwaves of pain racing up and down his body.

"For thousands of years…" D'Nar lifted him up by his hair, "… Zygerria supplied slave labour to the galaxy. We prospered!"

PUNCH.

"Our customers prospered!"

PUNCH.

"And then the Jedi came!"

The next hit sent Obi-Wan flying through the air, and onto the large desk, as he grunted in pain. D'Nar made his way over, pinning him down by the throat as Obi-Wan struggled to draw in breath.

And then the comm unit beeped.

"Ummm, excuse me Sir." A droid nervously piped up, "We have a problem!"

"What problem!"

Obi-Wan took advantage of the distraction, hitting the Zygerrian across the face and smashing his cheek into the communicator, destroying it before the droid could finish.

It was clear that Qui-Gon and Anakin were ruining D'Nar's plans somewhat.

….…

"These are the last ones." Qui-Gon reported, "You diffuse the bombs, and I'll cover you."

"Got it Master!"

Anakin went to obey, only for the two bombs to start beeping faster and higher, "Umm, I think the two bombs are linked."

"You're supposed to deactivate them, not set them off!"

"And there are more droids on the roof!"

"Great! This is just perfect!" Qui-Gon glanced back at the bombs, "If they're linked, we'll have to diffuse them at the same time!"

….

"Come on Master." Obi-Wan slowly pushed himself to his feet, "What's taking so long?!"

He couldn't keep this up for much longer.

…..

It took some time, but eventually, they were able to destroy the droids and deactivate the bombs, with mere seconds to spare.

"That was close." Anakin groaned.

"Hmmm, let us hope that Obi-Wan shares our luck."

….

The floor underneath Obi-Wan, cracked with the force he was thrown down onto it. He was then lifted into the air by his throat as D'Nar sneered up at him.

"And now, I will revenge for my people, Jedi!"

"Sir." The personal droid walked over, "You have an urgent transmission."

A hologram popped up of a simple foot droid, "Sorry to interrupt Sir, but you weren't responding!"

"What is it?!"

"Ermmm…. The Jedi have destroyed all your bombs."

"WHAT?!" D'Nar threw Obi-Wan to the ground, snatching the remote from the droid, "Give me that detonator!" He stormed over to the window, pressing on the button several times, only to snarl in frustration when there was no reaction. He was so frustrated, he didn't hear Obi-Wan slowly push himself to his feet behind him.

"Took them long enough." The Jedi groaned, using the Force to crush the oncoming droids and summon his lightsaber to him, just as D'Nar turned around. "Shall we discuss your surrender again?"

"I still have one bomb left Jedi!" D'Nar rushed over to the main protocol droid, spinning him around and inputting a code, even as the droid protested, before throwing it on top of Obi-Wan and making a run for it.

D'Nar escaped, as Obi-wan threw the droid to one side and out of the window, just as it exploded with a loud BANG.

…..….

Qui-Gon's eyes darted towards the main tower, frowning as black smoke rose up from it.

"Master?" His communicator beeped to life, "Master, come in! D'Nar is making his escaping from the tower!"

"We're on our way Obi-Wan."

….

They managed to catch up to the ship, leaping onto it and damaging one of the engines, causing it to lean dangerously to one side.

"So, what's the plan?" Qui-Gon raised an eyebrow at the young man, who smiled sheepishly at him.

"Ummm… I'm open to ideas?"

The cargo doors then opened, allowing them to enter the ship… only to see a Bor Gullet heading right for them, tentacles lashing out wildly.

"Hold on!"

"I don't think we have much of a choice!" Anakin glanced down at the tentacle wrapped around his ankle.

At least he was doing better than Qui-Gon, who had a tentacle wrapped around his mid-section, as he was slammed against the wall.

And he didn't appreciate Anakin's attempts to help.

"You're only making it angrier!" He scolded, freeing himself from the tentacle around his waist, "Go and stabilise the ship!"

"Fine, fine, fine!"

Anakin crept through the ship until he reached the main cockpit, pressing a few buttons to cut off the other engine, prompting D'Nar to spin again.

"Young Jedi…." The slaver brought out an electronic whip, cracking it against the floor, "… you will learn your place!"

There was a tense moment of silence, before a wicked smirk appeared on Anakin's face, the blue of his lightsabre lighting up his face.

"I have waited for this for so long."

It didn't take long for Anakin to pin the man up against the control panel, just as the door slid open to reveal Qui-Gon.

"Anakin." He said in a warning tone, before turning to D'Nar, "Where are the colonists?"

"I will tell you nothing!"

Anakin deactivated his lightsabre, before pressing it right up against D'Nar's neck, the threat clear. "Where are they?!"

"Anakin!"

Qui-Gon pulled the young man away, but the encounter had clearly shaken D'Nar's nerves. "My Queen… is setting up the royal slave auction." He hissed, "Just like before the time of the Jedi. Zygerria will be rich and powerful again, and this time, there is nothing the Jedi can do to stop it!"

"… We'll see about that."

…..…

"The colonists aren't in the city?"

"They're not even on the planet!"

Obi-Wan hissed as Cody pressed against a tender spot, sending a glare at the clone, who just ignored him. Qui-Gon and Anakin stood a short distance away, speaking to the Jedi Council over the holo-communicator.

"Must you press down so hard?" Obi-Wan hissed.

"Jedi Masters who pick fights to the death in order to buy time, don't get an opinion on how hard I press to clean these wounds."

"Find the colonists, you must." Master Yoda stated, "In great danger, I believe they are."

"Are the Zygerrians really considering starting up the slave trade again?" Another Master asked in concern.

"Sense a darker hand in this, I do." Master Yoda whispered, "A gateway, slavery is… to the rise of the Sith."
