Qui-Gon knew that once this was all over, the screams and cries of this accursed place would haunt his dreams for years to come.

"Qui-Gon Jinn." The slaver hovered around him, "Once a great Jedi Master, now a Jedi Slave… pitiful!"

Qui-Gon remained silent, gesturing for Cody to do the same, until the slaver was out of earshot.

"Everything about this place is designed to break the spirit." He muttered, eyeing a nearby Togruta who was shrinking away from a whipped guard, "It's already began to affect these poor people." He then hissed as a whip struck his arm.

"SPEECH IS FORBIDDEN!" Snarled a guard.

"… Sorry." Qui-Gon forced out, eyes widening as a nearby Togruta was struck, "Stop! It's my mistake! Leave him alone!"

He then yelped as several volts of electricity went charging through him.

"A slave?! Telling me what to do?!"

The Zygerrian went back to whipping the poor Togruta.

"Let's hope this one doesn't DIE because of you!"

Qui-Gon winced and swallowed down his pride, "Please…" He forced through his teeth, "… forgive me Master."

The slaver cackled, moving on. Once he was sure that they weren't looking, Qui-Gon moved closer to the whipped Togruta, who shrank back from him.

"Get away!" The man cried out, "Jedi only make this worse!"

Qui-Gon glanced over at Cody, who shook his head silently.

There was no point in arguing.

….

"Have you considered my offer Kenobi?" The Queen asked as they moved through the upper palace levels, "If you're loyal to me, and vow to stay by my side, then I will free your friends."

"It's not an easy decision." He refused to look her in the eyes.

"Hmmmm, curious. I thought the Jedi were selfless, placing the needs of others above their own."

As they rounded a corner, another Zygerrian came rushing over to them, "My Queen, I have news. Darth Tyranus is on his way here."

"Sooner than anticipated." She sighed, "Make preparations for his arrival."

As the man raced away, Obi-Wan couldn't prevent a small smirk from appearing on his face.

Everybody had a pressure point.

"It seems even you have a Master." He sidled closer.

"Tyranus is not my Master!" She hissed, before visibly trying to calm down, turning back to him, "Perhaps you shouldn't attend this meeting. Can I trust you not to run away?"

Obi-Wan remained silent, which only seemed to amuse her further as she walked away, leaving him with two guards.

Easy enough to deal with.

Once they were unconscious, he threw them over the side of the balcony and into the streets far below.

First step; proper clothing.

Hopefully Master Jinn could hold out for a moment more.

Hopefully, he could keep Cody safe.

It was only after locating their ship and finding something a little more… suitable to wear, and mustering enough strength to remove the collar from his neck, that he realised that the Queen was the only one who knew where Master Jinn and Cody were being kept.

"Kriff."

…..

It was easy enough to sneak back into the palace, making his way to the throne room with a confidence he wasn't entirely sure of.

It was hard to miss the sounds of someone choking inside.

Rolling his eyes, he burst into the room, "Enough Tyranus!"

The Queen was dropped to the ground, gasping weakly. "Obi-Wan." She whispered, unable to even lift her head off the ground.

"I see the Queen has given you a long leash." Tyranus snarled, "One more step and I will end her life." Tyranus then seemed to smirk under his dark hood, "I must say… the beardless look suits you."

Obi-Wan rolled his eyes, stopping momentarily, before summoning the Queen's whip to his side just as Tyranus ignited his red lightsabre.

Unused to the weapon, Obi-Wan was soon forced back to the ground, gritting his teeth as Tyranus used the Force Lightning technique on him.

Then the guards rushed into the room.

"The Queen!"

Tyranus ended his torture, seizing his opportunity. "She was murdered by the JEDI!"

It was time to get out of here.

"Take your vengeance!"

Quickly, Obi-Wan scooped the Queen into his arms, hoping that she wasn't as dead as Tyranus made her out to be. He broke through the window, hoping that they landed on something soft.

He needed to get back to the ship.

…..

How he managed it, he would never know, but eventually, he snuck on board the ship, putting it on autopilot.

"Your Highness?" He gently lay her down on the ground.

"No escape… for any of us." She reached into her robes, pulling out a familiar looking lightsabre, which Obi-Wan gratefully took.

"Where are Master Jinn and Cody?" He asked, "Tell me, please."

"Kadavos system." She whispered, before weakly chuckling, "You were right… I am a slave, just like you."

And with that, she was gone, leaving Obi-Wan to bow his head in grief.

He couldn't linger on that though.

He had work to do.

…..….

Qui-Gon and Cody grunted as they were pushed through the large doors and forced to their knees in front of the slaver, who smirked down at them.

"Someone wishes to speak to you."

He moved to one side, as a hologram of Darth Tyranus appeared in front of them, making Qui-Gon push back a groan that he knew would probably be audible even at the Temple.

"Qui-Gon Jinn." The Sith hissed, "In chains. How I have longed to see this."

"Darth Tyranus." Qui-Gon smirled, "Still afraid to get your hands dirty I see."

"I would gladly make an exception for you. I wanted to say a proper farewell before Keeper Argus puts you to death."

The slaver rubbed his hands together in glee and Qui-Gon couldn't help but feel a twinge of concern at the action.

How were they going to get out of this?

…..

The ship entered the Kadavos system with no concerns, and despite the pain Obi-Wan felt at the whip marks on his back, and the numerous electrical shocks he'd suffered, he was determined to save his Master and Cody.

"Keeper, there's a ship making an unscheduled landing on platform 2-4."

Qui-Gon couldn't help but perk up at that.

That sounded like a possible rescue.

"Kenobi." Darth Tyranus hissed.

…..

All weapons on the landing pad turned to the ship, all firing at the same time, forcing Obi-Wan to run as the ship exploded with a loud BANG!

The doors to the compound slammed shut just before he could reach them, leaving him to press up against them as much as he could to avoid getting shot.

"So much for my ride home." He sighed wearily, pulling his lightsabre out and using it to slice through the large metal doors.

…..…..

"Jinn." Tyranus turned to the Jedi, "Tell your padawan that if he does not surrender, the slaves will be terminated in his name!"

Obi-Wan was nearly finished when the screen to his left flickered to life, revealing his Master's filthy, haggard face.

"I am glad to see you little one." The man sighed, "But I'm afraid our host feels otherwise."

"Well, you can't make everybody happy. Isn't that one of your sayings?"

"Hmmmm, well they're threatening to kill the slaves unless you surrender."

Obi-Wan winced, "You know I do enjoy a good negotiation session…" He began, "… but it's been a very long few days, and quite frankly, I have had enough of slavers telling me what to do."

"Obi-Wan…. You must realise that this is a fight you cannot win alone."

Obi-Wan smirked, "Well now, who said I was alone?"

He wasn't so impulsive.

On the journey, he'd sent an SOS to the Council, along with he coordinates of where the colonists and his Master were being kept.

They should be arriving right about… now.

"Keeper, a fleet of warships has just appeared out of hyperspace in Section 6!"

"Reinforcements!" The Keeper turned to Tyranus in dismay as Qui-Gon cackled, the entire building rumbling with the force of blaster fire.

"Now!" He removed his own collar and Cody's, smirking as the clone sighed in relief.

"About time!"

Qui-Gon flipped backwards over the guards, using their blaster fire against them by using it to shatter his cuffs.

Hopefully, they wouldn't destroy the facility before they managed to get them and the slaves off of it, Obi-Wan mused to himself, finishing the hole and kicking through into a dark corridor, slicing through the guards who were ready and waiting.

….

"NO!" Qui-Gon yelled, watching as the Keeper tapped some commands into the computer, probably to send the remainder of the slaves falling to their deaths.

When he managed to knock the guard he was battling it out with, out, he rushed over to the computer, only to find that the Keeper had destroyed it.

"Obi-Wan." He growled into a speaker system, "We have a problem."

"… controls are destroyed. There's nothing they can do."

Jedi Master Plo frowned, "I cannot move the rescue cruiser in until those enemy cannons have been destroyed!"

"I'll take care of them. Just get that cruiser down here, we're running out of time!"

He raced back outside, climbing up one of the cannon towers, opening up the hatch and dropping down inside, slicing through the two guards inside. Once he was in the clear, he sat in the gunner's chair, firing through the shields around the other cannons, destroying them with a loud BANG!

"You're clear to move in." Obi-Wan stated, "Try and get under the facility. From what Master Jinn said, the colonists may not have a lot of time."

…..

Qui-Gon threw the last remaining guard into the wall, spinning around and using the Force to pull his lightsabre from the Keeper's grasp.

"Come Master Jinn." The Keeper stated nervously, "I know a Jedi won't kill an unarmed man!"

Qui-Gon hesitated for a moment, before glancing over at Cody, who had managed to acquire one of the guards electrical weapons.

The clone commander could do with letting off a little aggression.

It hadn't been an easy week for him.

With a subtle twitch of his eye, Cody seemed to understand what the Jedi Master was hinting at, leaning back and throwing the sharp weapon at the Keeper, clearly taking satisfaction in how it stuck in the slavers' chest.

"I'm no Jedi." Cody growled, watching as the chair the Keeper was sitting in span out of control, before impacting heavily with the main computer, the body going limp.

"Come on." Qui-Gon placed a hand on his shoulder, "Let's find Obi-Wan and get out of here."

….

"Cody!" Obi-Wan wrapped the clone in a hug, the pair of them sighing in relief as they embraced each other.

"Yes, Obi-Wan, I'm fine." Qui-Gon muttered sarcastically, "Thank you for asking."

"Yes, hello Master." Obi-Wan rolled his eyes, "I'm glad you're okay, now come on!"

They raced out of the facility, hopping onto a clone transporter.

"All the slaves are free, and the ships are clear Master Plo."

"Understood." The other Master replied over the communicator, "All ships, fire!"

With a few well-placed missiles, the facility was completely destroyed, and the nightmare was over.

The Togruta people joined the Republic two weeks later.
