Chapter 13: Hanging out with Sans, Beginning the Next Caverns
The next day, Minnie and Victor are already heading off to their next destination. They walk down the trail and into the thick fog where they have one of their encounters with Papyrus.
Victor says, "Stay close, Minnie. We're going through the fog."
"Okay," Minnie says.
The two continue to walk through the fog, carefully and slowly. Soon, enough, they are able to walk through the fog and down the trail. They follow the river and walk to see a few waterfalls. They continue to walk down the path of the strange area that seems to be dark blue color. Soon enough, they see a waterfall ahead. There are two creatures, a blue flower, a health star. Lastly, there is a small stand and Sans is there. Both of them charged up their health with the star and heads over to see him.
Sans notices Minnie's confused look and asks, "What? Haven't you seen a guy with two jobs before?"
"Um, not really?" Minnie answers.
Sans says, "Fortunately, two jobs means twice as many legally-required breaks. I'm going to Gribby's. Wanna come?"
"Uh, okay… I don't see why not," Minnie says.
"Sure," Victor replies.
"Well, if you insist… I'll pry myself away from my work…" Sans says.
Sands then walks away from the stand and reaches to the path next to the stand.
Then says, "Over here. I know a shortcut…"
Minnie and Victor follow Sands to the shortcut he is talking about. Soon enough, they reach Gribby's. There are a few creatures, including dogs.
Sans turns to the humans, "Fast shortcut, huh?"
Then calls out around the building, "Hey everyone?"
The three then walk in and two dogs say, "Hey Sans. Hi, Sans."
Two other creatures say, "Greetings, San. Hiya, Sansy…"
The three then walk to the bar across the room.
The bartender says, "Hey Sans, weren't you just here for breakfast a few minutes ago?"
"Nah, I haven't had breakfast in at least half an hour. You must be thinking of brunch," Sans says.
Everyone in the room, including Minnie, began to laugh. Victor rolls his eyes in reply, and begins to laugh too.
"Here, get comfy," Sans says, showing him the chairs.
All three then take a seat at the bar. When Victor sits on one of the chairs, a farting noise appears. Victor looks at his chair and finds a whoopie cushion on the chair.
Sans chuckles, "Whoops, watch where you sit down. Sometimes weirdos put whoopie cushions on the chairs. Anyway, let's order."
Then asks, "whaddya want..?"
"Um, I'll have french fries," Minnie says.
"I'll have a burger," Victor says.
"That sounds pretty good," Sans says.
Then calls out, "Grillby, we'll have a double order of burg and fries."
The bartender nods his head then heads to the kitchen.
Sans turns to Minnie, "So, what do you think? Of my brother?"
"Your brother. I think he's kind of cool," Minnie says.
"Of course he's cool. You'd be cool too if you wore that outfit every day," Sans says.
Minnie is confused.
Sans adds, "He'd only take that thing off if he absolutely had to. Oh well. At least he washes it. And by that I mean he wears it in the shower."
"He… wears his clothes in the shower. That has to be uncomfortable when it's wet," Minnie says.
Then the bartender walks out of the kitchen with the plates.
"Here comes the grub," Sans says.
Then asks, "Want some ketchup?"
"No thank you," Minnie says.
"Nah," Victor says.
"More for me," Sans says and winks.
The three then begin to eat their food.
"Anyway, cool or not, you have to agree Papyrus tries real hard. Like how he keeps trying to be part of the royal guard. One day, he went to the house of the head of the royal guard… and begged her to let him be in it," Sans says.
"Her?" Minnie says, confused.
"Yep. Of course, she shut the door on him because it was midnight. But the next day, she woke up and saw him still waiting there," Sans answers.
"He did?" Victor asks.
"He did. So seeing his dedication, she decided to give him warrior training," Sans says.
"Really? How did it go?" Minnie asks.
"It's, uh, still a work in progress," Sans says.
"I see," Minnie says.
Sans then remembers, "Oh yeah, I wanted to ask you something, Minnie."
"Um yes," Minnie says.
Sans leans to her and asks, "Have you heard of a talking flower?"
Minnie becomes nervous to hear about the talking flower. Then remembers about the flower that talked to her and wants to hurt her. Minnie then nervously nods her head in reply.
"So you know about it. The echo flower," Sans says.
Minnie soon becomes confused and wonders what the flower is. She believes Sans is talking about Flowey, but he's not
Sans continues, "They're all over the marsh. Say something to them, and they'll repeat it over and over… What about it? Well, Papyrus told me something interesting the other day."
"What is it?" Victor asks.
"Sometimes, when no one else is around… a flower appears and whispers things to him. Flattery… advice… encouragement… prediction. Weird, huh?"
"It is," Victor says.
"Sounds scary," Minnie replies.
Sanss then adds, "Someone must be using an echo flower to play a trick on him. Keep an eye out, okay? Thanks."
"Okay," Minnies says.
Sans then gets up from his chair, "Welp, that was a long break. I can't believe I let ya pull me away from work for that long."
Then turns to Minnie, "Oh, by the way… I'm flat broke. Can you foot the bill? It's just 10000G."
"Huh?" Both human reply, dumbfounded.
Minnie then takes out the bag, "I don't think I have enough."
Sans laughs and says, "Just kidding."
Then turns to Grillby, "Grillby, put it on my tab."
He begins to walk away and to the door.
He turns around and says, "By the way… I was going to say something, but I forgot."
"Okay," Minnie says.
Sans then leaves the building.
Minnie says, "Let's finish and then we'll get going."
"Yeah," Victor says.
After finishing eating, the two then head back outside of the restaurant and continue to be on their way. They continue to walk down the street past the houses. They walk down the path where the thick fog is. Continue to walk down the tunnel with the river and waterfalls. Then go to the Health star again and gain back strength.
They walk past Sans as he says, "Let's hang out again, sometime."
The two continue to walk down the trail, until they see a treasure chest with a sign next to it. They both decide to walk past it and come across a shallow river with icebergs floating down the river.
"Careful Minnie," Victor says, Minnie nods in reply.
They both walk across the river as ice flows are floating past them. They make sure to be careful and not bump into them, until they reach the other side of the river. They continue to walk down the path and find themselves in a dark area.
Minnie nervously says, "It's kind of scary here."
"Don't worry. We just need to stick together," Victor says.
Minnie nods her head in reply. They both walk down the path and into tall grass. Soon, they hear someone walking by. The two decide to hide in the grass and remain silent. They look to see two figures. One of them looks almost like Papyrus, while the other looks like a knight wearing armor.
Papyrus walks over and says, "H… hi, Undyne! I'm here with my daily report… Uhhh… Regarding that human I called you about earlier…"
Minnie is shocked to hear what the familiar figure is talking about.
Papyrus continues, "Huh? Did I fight them? Y-yes! Of course I did! I fought them valiantly! What? Did I capture them…?"
Now Papyrus is beginning to get nervous. So is Minnie and Victor, but for a different reason.
"W-w-well… No," Papyrus answers.
Then says, "I tried very hard, Undyne, but in the end… I failed."
Suddenly, Papyrus grows deeply nervous, "W-what? You're going to take the human's soul yourself…"
"But Undyne, you don't h-have to destroy them! You see… You see…" Papyrus says.
Suddenly, Papyrus walks back a little, looking frightened.
Then reluctantly says, "I understand… I'll help you in any way I can."
Then walks away, and still has the frightened expression on his face. Minnie and Victor are worried about Papyrus, but they wonder who the monster being Papyrus is talking to. Then again, when they mention the name 'Undyne,' they realize that the monster is actually the captain of the royal guards.
Victor moves his hand, telling Minnie to follow him. When they try to move through the bushes, the knight hears the noise and they come to a stop. They both soon remain silent as the knight begins to walk towards the bush. It soon stops and magic makes a speech appear. Seeing and hearing that there isn't someone, the knight walks back and disappears into the darkness. The two humans sigh in relief.
Minnie whispers, "Victor, let's get out of here before the scary knight comes back."
"Right," Victor whispers.
They both walk out of the bushes and hopefully to leave before the mysterious knight comes back. Suddenly, they see a young yellow monster close to them and comes out of the bushes too.
The monster turns to them, "Yo… did you see the way she was staring at you?"
The two humans nod their heads in reply.
The yellow monster says, "That… was AWESOME!"
Minnie and Victor become confused.
"I'm so jealous! What'd you do to get her attention…? Ha ha," The monster asks.
Then says, "C'mon! Let's go watch her beat up some bad guys!"
The monster girl rushes ahead, but she then trips and falls to the ground. She picks herself back up and hurries on ahead.
Minnie turns to Victor and asks, "Um… should we. I mean. I don't want to run into her."
"Me either, but I'm not sure we have a choice," Victor says.
"I suppose you're right," Minnie says.
"We better get going before anything else happens," Victor says.
"Okay," Minnie says.
The two humans then begin to walk down the path together and wonder what the next part of their journey will be like. They just have to wait and see what will happen next.
