A week after the Law's One Hundred Heart Challenge
Trinity Sayu
She was depressed...she knew that. With Vergo still fresh in her mind since she woke up two days ago, and then with the crew telling her Ace had left...she was extremely depressed. And she knew that Law could tell she was depressed.
Sayu was bound to the med bay for as long as it took for her to not look like a mummy. At least that's what she looked like in her eyes. But to the crew, she looked like a cute wrapped up tomato and it was adorable now that they knew she would recover nicely. However they knew that she was still upset with herself and with Ace. So they've been giving her space.
Currently she was laying on her side staring at the wall with music playing lightly from her Ipod next to her. Humming to the tune of her favorite collab with Marshmellow, 'Happier', seemed like the perfect song for her right now and she had it on repeat. Sayu was anything but happy right now, but the song just felt right at the moment. Well...really Marshmellow usually cheered her up, but it wasn't working just yet.
"...I want you to be happier...I want you to be happier..." She mumbled quietly to the lyrics of the song.
Yeah...Sayu was extremely depressed.
While mumbling to the lyrics, she didn't notice Law had opened the door and walked in with a tray full of lunch food for him and Sayu. "Sayu, sit up."
Sayu let out a groan and reluctantly sat up slowly, revealing her mummy body. "Law...I don't feel like eating."
Law kicked the door close behind him and ignored her. Placing the tray on the table, he sat down on the bed with her and bought it closer to them. "So you've said, but that won't stop me from force feeding you."
Sayu scooted closer to Law to see what was on the tray. A salad...he bought her a fucking salad. Albeit, it was a huge salad...but a salad nonetheless. "If you're going to feed me, can I have something...heavier...or meatier?"
Law chuckled and shook his head. "You're not ready for heavy foods yet. A light diet for just a little longer."
Sayu glanced to his side of the tray and saw that he had onigiri and two bowls of ramen. "...Are one of those for me?"
"No, that's mine."
A tick mark appeared on her head. "Why do all D's have such a huge fucking appetite?"
Law ignored her and held out some salad on a fork for her. "Shut up and eat."
Sayu opened her mouth and took the offered food. "...It's good...citrus vinaigrette I can taste..."
"Of course, Mr. Ryu made it obviously." Law grabbed his rice ball and took a bite. "Navy HQ is right on the horizon. I'd take you with me...but I don't need you moving in the state you're in. So I'll have Bepo, Shachi and Penguin as my backup."
Sayu looked down with a solemn look. "...Sorry..."
Law sighed and fed her some more salad. "I know why the man scares you." Her body stiffened as she ate. "You can't let that hold you back. Yes...the man...had left me with scars, but because he did that, it also made me to who I am today. I need you to let go of how he did me and Cora-san and next time Sayu..." Law looked her directly in her eyes to show how serious he is. "I need you to fight. You fight to live, fight to live for me okay?"
Sayu slowly nodded but that didn't stop her hands from shaking slightly. "...I will do my best...but he's just..."
Law petted her head and Sayu's body relaxed instantly. "You don't need to worry about that one. If that is the one person who gives you so much fear, then you won't be able to see him ever again if I can help it. Vergo will answer for what he's done to you, Sayu." Law gently cupped her cheek and stroked her face with his thumb. "Him and Doflamingo will be thrown at your feet begging for mercy when I'm done with them. Don't you trust me?"
Sayu leaned into his hand. "Of course I trust you. You're my best friend, how could I not trust you?"
"Then believe me when I say that the world will burn for ever thinking of harming you again." Law then pinched her nose roughly, causing her to wince in pain as he shoved more salad down her throat. "Now eat every bite."
Sayu nearly choked on the leaves being forced into her mouth. "Mawww, thw urts!" She mumbled through her full mouth. One minute he could be affectionate and then the next he could be back to his sadistic ways again.
"So what made you decide you want to marry me all of a sudden?" Law asked her with a sly grin.
Sayu's face slightly blushed as she looked away. "I just thought...I wasn't going to be able to see you again. And then I thought over...since we met and all our adventures...and then...I don't know. I just...I guess I just got really sad if I couldn't see you again. And then bam...I was like...holy jashin I'm in love with this dude, I should marry him before I don't get the chance."
Law hummed and fed her again. "Do you want a huge wedding? I know some girls love that." Law gagged over the thought of having to prepare a huge and sappy wedding hoping she would say no.
"Ugh, no way. If I had weddings like in my world, I'd want to wear a black gown instead of white, but that wouldn't be socially acceptable." Sayu tilted her head slight. "Can't we just get married on the ship? I still have to find you a ring though."
Law shook his head as he ate some of his ramen. "Generally the man gets the ring."
Sayu smiled weakly. "Yeah well, I'm not really too tied to normalcy anyway."
"...How are you feeling?"
Sayu grabbed her Ipod and shut the music off. "...I'm fine if you're referring to Ace."
Finishing off his first bowl, Law went to the next while staring at her. "Right." He said with sarcasm.
"It's just...why'd he have to leave? After everything we did for him?" Sayu muttered while thinking about the freckled boy.
"How would you feel hanging around your unrequited love while she had feelings for someone else?" Law asked her.
"Like Hinata with Naruto liking Sakura..."
"I don't know who those people are but I assume you get the basic of it. Ace is going to need time, that's it. Who knows, he might come back, although I hope he doesn't." Law seriously hopes Ace doesn't come back, the guy was annoying in trying to pursue Sayu. In the end the Straw Hat's cook wasn't the problem, it was only Mr. Fire Fist he generally had to worry about.
"I don't know how he assumed I was in love with you when I didn't even realize it." She scratched her cheek and Law glared at her.
"Because you are as dense as Mr. Straw Hat."
Sayu blushed and shook her head gently. "I'm not that dense..."
Law blinked and then turned away from her. "...If you believe that, then so be it. But everyone else will agree with me."
Sayu sweat dropped and giggled softly. "I can be a little slow...but...I miss Ace...I think that's mainly why I've been playing 'Happier' on loop..."
Law glanced at her. "Happier?"
Sayu pressed play on her Ipod and the lyrics came out. Her and Law listened to the english song with attention. "It's about loving someone enough...that you just want to set them free."
"And you think Ace did this for you?"
Sayu clenched her Ipod and the two got silent as they listened to the song. She turned to her friend...um...boyfriend...fiancee with a sad smile. "...Yeah...yeah I think he did...and I feel awful about it."
Law pushed the tray aside and grabbed her device. "You've been moody ever since you woke up and learned about Mr. Fire Fist's departure. Do you think he would want you to be feeling like this?" He pressed the button again and it paused.
"...Well no...but...it's hard."
Law put her device down and then grabbed Sayu's hands gently. "Did you love him?" He asked her with honesty and there was nothing judging about the tone.
Sayu thought this over for a minute. "...I did love him, but not the way he loved me. The only thought that ran through my head when...Vergo...happened...was you."
"Then there's nothing you can do. Now quit being mopey and start smiling again. The crew misses your usual floaty and dense personality." Law released her hands and gave her a quick kiss on her forehead and then grabbed their tray and left.
Sayu's face was red, Law's affection still makes her a tiny bit nervous at times.
Trafalgar Law
Law bought the lunch tray back to the kitchen where Ryu was washing dishes.
"How was she?" Ryu asked as he took the tray from him.
Law shook his head with a bored look. "Still being moody. Listening to sad songs like an emotional teenager."
Ryu gave a disgusted look and sighed. "She needs to get back to normal. The air around her has been dark and depressing. Maybe we should call Shanks or something."
Law sat down at the dining table and grabbed the paper for today. "We're not calling that idiot."
"Don't we have to tell him his daughter is having an impromptu wedding soon anyway?" Ryu looked over at Law who showed a grin.
"No, I'm thinking of just having the wedding and then telling him after. It'll be interesting to see his broken reaction." Law slightly chuckled as he flipped through his paper.
"Captain." Ryu called to him and Law looked up to see the cook looking serious. "The man has missed most of her life already, are you really going to let him miss seeing his only child get married? That's cruel even for you."
Law clicked his tongue in annoyance and reached up to run his hand through his hair. Dammit, did he miss his hat. "...Tch...when did you get sentimental?"
"I don't have kids, and never really knew my parents, but I can vaguely understand. Don't girls want their father to give them away anyway?"
"Not Sayu. You know her and her father have a strained relationship already. I'll let her decide on that." Law tapped his fingers on the table in anxiousness.
"Ah, Captain-san. I was just looking for you."
Law looked behind him to see Haken walk in with a new hat for him. "Finally..." The cowboy handed the hat to him and Law studied it. It had a small flap on the front. Different from his old hat, but it wasn't bad. "...Good work."
Haken rubbed his nose and grinned. "Of course, there's really not much I can't do."
Law put the hat on then looked down at his hoodie. "Can you tailor me a new shirt set? Something along the black and blue style would be acceptable."
Haken tossed some ideas in his head and nodded. "Give me a few days, I'll come up with something. I've been making some new clothes for the little soldier too. I can't wait to dress her up again when she gets better."
"Captain, we're docking at Navy HQ and they've spotted us!" Bepo voice's rang over the sub's speakers.
Law stood up and took the hat off and set it on the table. "Alright, let's get this over with."
Trinity Sayu
Sayu was reading a book with Orochi playing on the floor of the med bay with one of his snakes. "I'm happy you have finally taken my suggestion to heart."
She looked at the small child and sighed. "Don't rub it in Orochi. I don't need Law finding out you were the one to push me to this at the beginning. That Vice Admiral just made me realize some things."
"Hmm...so will I be getting a last name now. I've never acquired one before." Orochi looked up at his mother with a curious glance.
Sayu gently closed her book and then gave her full attention to the child. "...Orochi. What happened before we picked you up at Sabaody?"
Orochi's eyes narrowed and then he let out a sigh. "It's not a heart breaking story if that's what you're looking for." Standing up, he climbed onto her bed and sat next to her and let the snake slither around her bed. Sayu gulped but just let the snake do as it pleased. "I have eidetic memory as I might have stated before. You do know what that means, yes?"
Sayu nodded her head slowly. "It's another term for photographic memory, right?"
"That is correct. I've had it since I was born into this world. I remember everything and it's partial to why I excel in knowledge and learning capabilities. However, as I've stated it was with me at birth. Every last detail is engraved in my brain and I never forget anything..." Orochi laid back next to his mother with his hands behind his head. "I was born like this, with snake irises, fangs and this yellow hair. I looked neither like my birth parents and it baffled them and they were so disgusted that they left me at an orphanage in Sabaody."
"Orphanage?"
Orochi nodded and closed his eyes. "Everyone was scared of me. I was not normal and I had accepted that fact. However, I didn't tolerate the abuse they tried to inflict on me. Anyone who was mean or dangerous to me...they died as I bit into them with my venom laced fangs. Eventually I left when I could walk and run. Since then I would scavenge and hunt in Sabaody and anyone who crossed paths with me...they were never nice either. I feel as though I was judged before even getting a word out and honestly...it made me hate the world. I got caught by slave traders who stabbed me in my throat barely missing vital spots but nicking my vocal cords. They had a doctor patch me up and then gave me to the auction house. That's where I met you guys. The other slaves were scared of me so they didn't bother me much. When all the commotion happened with you and your friends of the Straw Hat crew, you saw me. And for the first time, you didn't judge me for what I looked like. You actually embraced me and it felt awkward at first, but I enjoyed it nothing the less. That was actually the first hug I have ever been given in my short four years of living."
Sayu stared at the boy next to her then patted his head like Law does to her. "You've had it rough, haven't you?"
Orochi opened his eyes to look at his mother. "It wasn't too bad. Lack of human touch made me wary of humanity in the first place. And honestly...I like it here with you and Otou-san. You two make the parents I've never experienced before. So my past doesn't afflict too much difference on me, because I am quaint with how things are as of now. Everything happens for a reason."
"Well, I'll give you as many hugs as you want from now on. I promise." Sayu gave him a small smile and Orochi grinned showing off his fangs.
"And I will bring death to anyone who wishes to harm you or Otou-san. If I may be honest, I do find death fascinating." He stuck his tongue out and Sayu gulped.
She had been informed about Orochi's yandere personality and it's fine with her, she just hopes he doesn't go on a killing spree or anything, anytime soon. The boy is kinda cruel to others except she and Law. "Um...okay."
"I don't consider death cruel if that's what you're thinking about...however life...is different."
Dark words coming from a four year old but Sayu took it all in stride and ruffled his hair. "Change of topic, you want to work on your english with me?"
Orochi nodded rapidly. "I'm always up for learning."
Sayu grabbed her book and she and Orochi leaned back and cuddled next to each other as Sayu went over some words with him. He would learn fast with having a photographic memory.
Trafalgar Law
Law walked back into the sub with Bepo, Shachi and Penguin by his side. To say Law was happy was an understatement, the man was ecstatic but it didn't show.
"Wow! Is that Sayu-chan's dress?!" Shachi's voice rang out causing him to look over at the cowboy that was working in his lab they passed by. It wasn't much of a lab anymore, I mean the equipment was there, but now there was sewing machines everywhere and random articles of clothing all over the place.
Haken was working on Sayu's wedding dress. So far it was red...why the hell was it red?!
"Mr. Haken...a wedding dress isn't red...it's usually white." Law informed him as they walked into his lab.
Haken chuckled and looked up at his Captain. "She asked for this. Something about staying true to the herself or something. I was against it, but she just gave me those puppy dog eyes and I couldn't resist. Anything for my little soldier, right? Now when I take my pretty lady as my wife, her dress will of course be white." Haken had a small grin as he thought about Nico Robin. The man was smitten and everyone knew that. However Nico Robin wanted nothing to do with him, the poor cowboy had it rough.
"I think it suits her." Bepo mentioned and everyone looked at the bear. "I think she's saying that even though she's getting married she's still Trinity Sayu, Red Haired Shanks daughter. It's a nice sentiment if you ask me."
"Gahhhh, Trafalgar Sayu!" Penguin nearly had tears in his eyes. "Always the good ones get married off!" He nearly collapsed right then and there.
"You didn't really think you had a chance with her? From day one we could both see the relationship she and the Captain shared." Shachi mentioned as he thought back to the day they met.
"Well yeah, but Sayu-chan was so dense...who would've thought?" Penguin muttered with a sad look. "Oh well...Captain, who's going to be your best man?!"
Both Penguin and Shachi glared at each other with sparks flying between. One of them will surely be the best man.
"Bepo will."
Both engineers fell over in defeat, of course they couldn't compete with Bepo. The next person Law trusted the most was Bepo, right after Sayu.
Bepo blushed and wiggled his body around. "I-I'm honored Captain."
"How'd everything go?" Haken asked as he continued his sewing.
"Bounties were raised and then frozen. I'm currently at four hundred million beli with the title of Shichibukai now." Law said with a smug look.
"Congrats." Jean Bart said as he walked by the room and continued on his way.
Haken shook his head at his antisocial crew mate and then gave his own congrats. "Nice job Captain. Did anyone else's bounty get raised?"
"For Rocky Point, we all got bounties now!" Shachi stated with a grin. "Penguin and I have bounties of thirty million beli!"
"Poor Bepo has a bounty of one hundred beli cause they think he's our crew's pet." Penguin looked over the bear who looked down.
"I'm sorry..."
"Don't apologize Bepo. You'll shine soon." Law told the bear with a smirk.
Bepo looked up with a grin. "Thanks Captain."
"Haken, your bounty went up to one hundred and ninety eight million beli! Something about turning all the women marines against the Navy." Penguin put his finger to his chin in thought.
Haken chuckled and shrugged his shoulders. "What can I say? A man of my stature and good looks is just a girl magnet."
"Ryu has a bounty of seventy two million beli because he gave away the poisoned drinks." Shachi grinned as they couldn't wait to tell the cook.
"Ah, the twins each have a respective bounty of twenty million beli for the distraction." Bepo mentioned as he went through the piles of clothing on the floor trying to clean them up.
"Jean Bart has a bounty of sixty million because he's a run away slave from the Tenryubito's." Shachi said.
Law chuckled as he thought about his first mate. "Sayu has a bounty of three hundred million for engaging the Vice Admiral. And they were informed about the 'Snake Master, Orochi'. The kid has a bounty of ten million beli." Law was proud of his crew, they had worked hard and it all paid off.
"Well, when the wedding happens, we should celebrate our bounties as well." Haken said and then looked at Law. "When is the wedding happening?"
"Whenever Sayu recovers and gets out of her sad mood." Law said with a frown.
"We should do something for her!" Shachi turned to his friend and the engineers nodded about to race out.
"Leave Sayu alone. Right now the only things she needs are rest and me." Law ordered them and they both looked sad.
"...Right Captain."
Trafalgar Law
Law walked in the med bay to check up on his fiancee. What he saw would be classified as cute to some people. Sayu was asleep with Orochi next to her and both were drooling on their pillow. He glanced at the clock and noticed it was close to dinner. To wake them or not...they could have a late night dinner he supposes. Moving over to a speaker, he spoke into it. "Mr. Ryu, save some dinner for Sayu, Orochi and I. We'll eat later."
Ryu's voice spoke back to him. "Understood."
Law placed his sword down and then removed his hoodie and took off his pants. He might as well have a nap with them. The bed was not as big as his in their room but it will do.
Law made his way over to the two and climbed in behind Sayu. Careful to not agitate her injuries too much, he gently wrapped his arm around the two and slowly closed his eyes.
All three slept peacefully for a few hours.
Orochi
"Shhhhh, you'll wake everyone up." His mother put a finger to her lip to quiet his steps.
He, his mother, and father were tiptoeing in the ship towards the kitchen to make sure they didn't wake anyone up. Apparently his footsteps were too loud for her liking.
"I don't comprehend why we have to sneak around. It's Otou-san's ship, he should be able to be as loud as he wishes to be..." Orochi mumbled quietly.
"It's common courtesy, Orochi..." Sayu opened the door to the kitchen carefully and slowly made her way through it and sat down carefully at the table with a wince.
"You shouldn't even be up..." Law muttered as he rummaged through their fridge.
Sayu looked away from him. "...I feel cooped up..."
Orochi climbed into the chair next to his mother and waited for his past midnight dinner. "You need to recuperate Okaa-san."
"...The med bay makes me feel...depressed now." Sayu muttered with a sad look as Law put three cups down for them.
"I'll move you back to our room and monitor you from there then." Law grabbed three plates and went to heat them up.
Orochi grabbed his cup and sipped it. It was lemonade which was just right for the boy. "Otou-san, with you and Okaa-san getting married, I will obtain the name as Trafalgar Orochi, won't I?"
Law smirked and nodded his head. "That is correct."
Orochi thought this over in his head. It feels nice to have a full name now. Not that it mattered much to him but...it just felt nice. "And if I have a sibling?"
Sayu spit out her lemonade and choked. Orochi stood up in his chair and reached over and patted his mother's back. Law had a smirk as he watched his fiancee get flustered. "O-Orochi..."
"Then your sibling would carry the Trafalgar name as well." Law said as he grabbed some silverware for the three.
"With Okaa-san being pure as she is, it will be difficult for you to consummate on your wedding night, I can already tell. But I do expect a sibling sooner or later in the coming future." The boy had no filter whatsoever.
Sayu was a blushing mess under her bandages. "Orochi...please stop. I can't take anymore."
Orochi chuckled and sat back down just as his father bought their plates over. "Teasing you brings great amusement to me Okaa-san. I apologize however and will hold my tongue...only slightly."
Law sat down at the head of the table and started to eat, giving Sayu and Orochi the next moment to start after he took his first bite. "Sayu, do you want to call your father in the morning and tell him the news?"
Sayu thought this over as she picked at her small portioned food. "Meh."
"Meh is not a word, Okaa-san." Orochi pointed out as he dug into his steak with his fangs.
"Why do you guys get steak and I get...brussel sprouts...I hate brussel sprouts." She looked bummed out that he and his father were eating meat. "Brussel sprouts are the worst vegetable ever...spinach is better. And sprouts smell just as bad as asparagus..."
"You're avoiding the question." Law took a bite of his steak and slowly chewed it to grate on Sayu's nerves even more. He enjoyed teasing her to no end. "Do you want to call Shanks or not?"
"...I guess." She mumbled as she pushed her food around.
"It's a yes or no inquiry, Okaa-san. Are you going to call Ojii-chan or not?" Orochi stared at his mother as she sighed heavily.
"Yes, I will call him. Can I have some meat now?" She looked at Law with hopeful eyes.
Law shook his head. "You're still healing Sayu so no you may not have meat just yet."
Sayu pushed her plate away from her and frowned. Orochi shook his head, his mother is still childish to no end. It astounds him, how he, a four year old is more mature than she is. "Okaa-san, heavy foods after surgery are not good for your palate. Your stomach won't be able to handle it just yet." Orochi reached over and picked up a sprout from her plate and ate it. "Besides, sprouts are full of vitamins and are healthy for you."
Sayu looked away with a pout.
Law glared at her and then reached over and pinched her nose and squeezed it tightly. Sayu winced in pain and her mouth opened to say something, when he swiftly shoved a sprout in it. "GAH!" Sayu's eyes had tears as she was forced to eat the disgusting vegetable.
Orochi chuckled, seeing his mother trying to swallow the sprout was hilarious. Sayu quickly grabbed her lemonade and gulped it down to get the bad taste out of her mouth. "Okaa-san, you're being over dramatic again."
Sayu put her cup down gently with sad eyes. "...I really hate brussel sprouts. This isn't fair."
Law looked at her again with anger in his eyes. "Cut it out and eat."
She huffed and with great regret started to eat her sprouts. "...Can I have more lemonade?"
Law grabbed her cup and went to get her more. "Stop moping and get back to normal already, Sayu. I'm not marrying a moody child in the body of an eighteen year old."
"Can't you be happier, Okaa-san?" Orochi was slightly worried about his mother's current mental health. Physically she would be fine, but she was still in this depressed state and it worried everyone.
Sayu put her fork down and sighed. "...It's my fault Ace left...and then the thing with Vergo..."
Orochi took a sip from his cup and then exhaled. "You failed."
Sayu's eyes widened as he just said that so plainly.
Law watched the two wondering what the child was going to say.
"But you tried." Orochi continued on. "I read a lot Okaa-san, all types of books. I think you might appreciate this." He wiped his mouth and looked his mother in her eyes. "Don't quit. You're going to stumble and if that happens, just get back up. What happened no longer matters. Each day is a new day so get back on track and keep going." Orochi gave her a soft smile. "I believe you can do it, Okaa-san."
Sayu looked down and then the sniffles could be heard. "Orochi..."
"Okaa-san...I love you." Orochi said softly.
Sayu covered her face as she started to cry. "I know-I know I said this before...but I mean it! I mean it a thousand and hundreds of times more than the last time! I won't ever fail you again, Law!" She furiously rubbed her eyes and tried to stop her crying. "I'm gonna grow up and be a better person each day! Ace left but he's okay! ...I'm okay! And Vergo is going to get his!"
Orochi stood up on his chair and patted her head, causing her to look up at him. "Good luck, Okaa-san."
Sayu reached out and grabbed Orochi's small body and hugged him close to her. "Thank you, Orochi!"
Law had a slight grin as he watched the two. He was worried for no reason...she'll be just fine.
