A/N: I actually wasn't intending to post today because I had lecture notes I really wanted to get done, but then my recorder crashed and I couldn't do it, so thank faulty technology for this chapter haha. This update ridiculously short, probably one of the shortest chapters I've ever written, so don't expect much out of it, but hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

I wake up to the blinding light and pull myself up off the ground to meet Kyla's furrowed eyebrows. I blink and pull back slightly.

"Good, you're alright. You took quite the hit." The Northern Waterbender states with a smile. "How are you doing? Your brother said you got a shock before you all blacked out." I stare at her, 'where are we? How is she here? Aurgh and spirits my head is killing me.' My rapid firing thoughts are broken off by Kyla's gentle shake. "Katara?" I blink again.

"Sorry. My head is a bit fuzzy. Where are we? What happened? Is everyone ok?" I fire out which in turn prompts two blinks from Kyla before releasing a small chuckle.

"Well, you're definitely alright. We're outside City Hall. Haven't had the chance to take you all to the hospital so thought to heal you here. We dug you up from the rubble. Boy, was I worried that you guys weren't going to make it out." I shake my head, still not understanding.

"But how did you get out? I didn't see you or anyone come back our way." I ask.

"Ah yes, turns out the rebels had multiple exits which Zuko, the police and I escaped through. Unfortunately a few rebels escaped but I ran past a set of lockers which contained names and details of all the Sniper members. Currently, the police are hunting the last of them down." I nod my head, relieved to hear some good news.

"And everyone else?" I probe.

"Sokka's fine, he just has a minor concussion. Toph is little bit worse for wear; I've healed her head injury, but she should take it easy for the next couple of days. Xiu broke a couple of bones which isn't bad considering he was the closest to the impact. And Aang..." She takes a deep breath, her eyes watering. I take hold of her hand and squeeze it tight. "...he's in really bad shape. I don't know what's going to happen. They had to whisk him away to the hospital so I don't know any more than you. I thought to stay behind here and make myself useful." The Waterbender explains with a half shrug as her eyes deviate from mine to the ground. I give her hand another squeeze and let go.

"Come on, let's get everyone and go see him at the hospital. We've both been involved in Aang's health and we know him better than anyone else which makes us the best ones to heal him." I say with a small smile and put one hand on the ground to help me up but the action sends a sharp pain right up my shoulder and I drop back on the ground with Kyla hovering worriedly around me. Her eyes scans me up and down until they zone in on my shoulder.

"You had a cut on your left shoulder. I wasn't sure if it was dislocated as well so a medic tended to you while I patched up the others." I raise an eyebrow and gently prod my shoulder with my right hand. I hiss at the pain that it elicits. 'It was definitely dislocated, jeez I'm going avoid the medic who put it back in place.' I sigh and use my other hand to get up. Once on my feet I feel a bit woozy and put a hand to my head. Kyla must have noticed my state as she wraps an arm around my waist and guides me to a nearby bench. "You need to rest. Electric shocks to the body can have negative effects. You don't need to strain yourself." But I'm already shaking my head in disagreement at the Waterbender's words.

"I was on that grid for half a minute. Aang was subjected to it for who knows how long! We need to supervise his healing..." I pause and with a sigh I amend my sentence. "...you need to supervise his healing." I say with a small voice. Kyla is taken back as she leans against the backrest of the bench.

"I appreciate you saying that, but my healing abilities are no where near your level." I shake my head at Kyla's denial.

"I don't believe that. I've seen Aang's scars - those were serious. You were the only one standing in between him and death." I argue strongly as Kyla widens her eyes slightly.

"I'm glad he showed you. He mentioned it briefly; hopefully it will be the confidence boost he needed; but seriously, the medics at the hospital are better suited at healing than me." I massage my forehead at Kyla's stubbornness.

"No they aren't. Please Kyla." I plead.

"But what about you and the others?" She asks unsurely.

"We'll catch up with you soon." I answer as a see a flash of confliction crosses her face before she gives me a decided nod. She rises to her feet and offers me a hand.

"Ok, but let me take you to your brother and the rest of the gang. I don't want you falling to the ground in my absence." Kyla teases as I flush red in embarrassment and take her hand. She pulls me up and walks me to one of the ambulances nearby. Surrounding it is Sokka, Toph and Zuko who are all seated on earth stumps. Another one is suddenly erected and I cast a grateful glance to the blind Earthbender. Once I'm seated Kyla promises to update us with any details and throws a wave goodbye.

"Glad you're up. I was starting to get worried." My brother comments and I shoot him a smile.

"Thanks. I'm glad we made it out relatively unscathed..." But my eyes drop when I say this. "...or almost all of us." I saw quietly.

"I say we should head to the hospital and see how he is." Toph states brashly as she crosses her arms.

"Have you forgotten that you're being monitored by the paramedics over there?" Zuko points out which prompts the Earthbender to flick her wrist nonchalantly.

"As if a bunch of nurses could hold us down. What do you say?"

"I'm with you Toph." I chime in as Zuko slaps his forehead.

"Or we could just get one of those ambulance drivers to take us there?" Sokka suggests. I throw him a sheepish look.

"Yeah, that's a better idea than running away from them." I say with a meek smile which causes Zuko to chortle at us.

"As if you could run. You could barely walk here and Toph's trying to hide the fact that her head isn't spinning each time she moves it. The only one who could half run is Sokka and he's not even good at that, healthy or not." The Firelord lists off with a snort.

"Hey! I'm a very good runner thank you very much." My brother responds with a touch of petulance. I roll my eyes and get up to go and talk to one of the drivers. 'Aang, I really hope you're ok.' I think silently as I lean against the vehicle to still my shaking legs.

A/N: As I said, it's a super short and nothing really came out of it except to reassure you that the gang isn't dead and are alright, well mostly, oh and of course a nice dose of banter. I didn't really want to leave it like that, but the way that the next chapter starts…well this was the best place to end it, so that the beginning of the next chapter doesn't seem disjointed or anything.

That being said, I should probably let you know that pretty much all of the future chapters are pretty short (not quite as short as this though), save for one because we're nearing this story's end. From here on out I'm aiming to tie up any loose ends that have arisen over the course of this story, I think I've got them all covered, but if there's anything in particular that you're burning to know or have clarified, then drop me a review and I'll see to it that I've got it sorted.

I still haven't got round to writing chapter 50, not sure what's holding me up to be honest, maybe I just don't want to be finally done with the story or I'm lazy or maybe because my muse is lacking…don't worry I'll definitely finish this story, I'm aiming to be done before it hits the 5 year anniversary…jeez, to anyone who has been reading from the beginning, I apologise for my terrible updating schedule and I appreciate you for sticking with me, both old and new readers – wouldn't have gotten this far without you all!

So, about my next update? I'm not really sure when it will come out, I mean I would love to say next weekend, but I've got about 5 tests over the course of this term, so that might not be likely. I'll always try my best to get the next chapter out asap, but the next time I'll most likely be free is for my Easter holiday or early March, we'll see how good I'm staying on top of my studies or if any more lecture recordings fail…Fingers crossed I'll get something out sometime this month of next, until then hope you all have a lovely day and thank you a billion for all your kindness.
