NarutoDawg9406-Glad you appove! Hope you'll continued to follow this story through thick and thin.
treyalexander63917-I would say Galen will regress back to his Sith self, but he will reeducate himself in the light side teaching, with some help. Plus, Give the devils some credit, they may encourage in the whole 'Doing what you want' thing, but they do restrain themselves. I don't see ruining Galen entirely.
Spider-man999-On both account, sooner than you might expect.

Chapter 4
Starting over again
Galen stood still as he continued to stare down Asia in shock before asking "What're you doing here?" He darted his eye from side to side, to see if there was anyone else with her.
"Oh…!" Asia squeak as she looked down at the ground to hide her face with her headdress, before lifting it back up to show her smiling face while saying "Well, today's my day off so I thought about taking a little walk."
The devil felt like something was off with the girl's story, but before he could inquire, a rumbling sound caught the duo's attention. With the direction of the sound coming from Asia, and the girl's pink-red face confirming it, Galen decided it was a good time to use those coupons.
(MaskDonald)
Galen sat awkwardly across from Asia at a cheap Burger joint, with a tray of food for the both of them.
Galen decided to break the ice "Well, Dig in." He gesture the burger in front of Asia, who glanced down. Nervous and confusion was well written on the young Nuns face as she glanced around the tray.
The Devil of the pair, understanding the situation, spoke up "You use your hands." He demonstrated by wrapping his own burger and took a bite out it. After swallowing the piece, he looked back and Asia, "See, Finger Food." He spoke while forcing a smile at his cartoon inspired joke.
Asia, finally figuring everything out thanks to Galen, followed his example and began to feast, enjoying it too with Galen as the Young Nun's witness.
After the meal, Galen content himself with escorting Asia around the downtown area. Both preoccupied themselves with activities from window-shopping to even playing in the Arcade, where Galen and won a plush toy for Asia.
Both had ended up in the park and sat down on a stone bench, with Asia still hugging the doll that she now owned.
"Thank you for today Galen." Asia spoke up with a smile "I wished I could've fun like this before…" Asia stopped her rambling when she realized what she was about to say.
Galen simply took the compliment with his own smile and nod motion, but stared at his companion in question at Asia's vocal slip. "You didn't get out much before?" He asked, the devil's curiosity getting the better of him.
Asia mood dipped slightly as she reminisced about her past, but she soon spoke up "Well, I was abandoned in front of the church when I was a baby."
Galen felt his throat knot up as he realized what kind of sensitive topic he stumbled upon, but Asia continued anyway. "Oh it wasn't so bad…" The Blond Nun explained, sensing Galen's reaction. "One day, me and some child children stumbled upon an dying puppy. I prayed for it to get better, and suddenly, the puppy got back on its feet more cheerful then ever"
As Galen listen to Asia's tale, he recounted a similar incident from yesterday. 'Her sacred gear?' he thought.
"The Church recognized my abilities and immediately working as a saint." Asia continued her story "I was healing poor people from all over the world, but…" The Blond Nun paused for a second "One Day, there was a man who came to the church that was badly hurt and I healed him, but when the father of the church arrived, the man revealed he was a devil and killed the Father."
Asia held back her tears as she continued to tell her story. "After that, I was branded a heretic and exiled from the church."
"And that how you ended up here?" Galen imputed, feeling somewhat sadden at the betrayal this young saint turned outcast had to endure.
Shaking her head lightly, Asia spoke on despite the commentary by her devil companion "Yes, and while it's been difficult, I can only push forward and If I can overcome this trail, maybe my dream can come true." She spoke with hope evident in her tone, peeking Galen's curiosity.
"Your dream?" The Devil asked the nun.
Asia then brightened up "Yes to make lots of friends!" she shot up from the bench and spun around to face Galen. "Friends I can cherish, Have fun with, and do lots of neat stuff!" Realizing how excited she got at speaking her innermost thoughts, the Blond Nun's face redden slightly as she continued to speak "It's probable silly, but having any friends, even one, would just make me Happy."
The blond Nun felt a hand lay on her shoulder, and lifted her head to see Galen standing over her, slightly smiling before saying "It not silly at all."
Galen, pausing for a moment as he tried to find the words to comfort his companion…No his "I'm not gonna lie and say I know a lot about having friends…" The self-conscious Devil began to speak "But, after everything we done today, I say it impossible to we're anything but friend."
Asia looked shocked at this declaration, but Galen powered through her reaction "I mean, we're hung out, played, and had fun…" Galen was cut off when Asia suddenly jumped into the Devil and wrapped his arms around him in a hug, which shocked Galen, but not as much as what he heard next.
"Thank you Galen." Asia spoke softly that Galen almost didn't hear her, but he returned her hug as his way of saying 'Your welcome.'
"Well isn't that sweet." A woman's voice rang out, causing both devil and nun to spin around and see a familiar woman hovering above the pond with her jet black, feathered wings unfolded.
"Raynare…" Asia muttered to herself in fear, unknowingly identifying the Fallen Angel to Galen.
Said Devil got defensive and placed himself facing forward, towards the Fallen Angel in front of the Blond Nun.
Raynare however, ignored the devil's action and instead focused on the Nun. "I'm a little offended little girl. After all the trouble I went through to secure you, you actually had the nerve to run off." The Fallen Angel punctuated her statement by harshly narrowing her violet eyes.
"Go Away!" Asia barked out "I want nothing to do with any of you!" She retreated back behind Galen as she whispered "I'm sorry, I was actually running away from them."
"It's alright." Galen assured Asia he wasn't bothered by her fib, but still on guard against the fallen angel, who in turn formed a violet colored spear in her hand.
Galen, in response, activated his sacred gear, which manifested in the red and green disc on his hand and instinctively placed himself in a defensive position.
Raynare, upon seeing the sacred gear, eyes widened before shutting them as she laughed "That's what the higher ups are worried about?"
Galen, caught are guard by the gesture, but quickly recovered and charged at the fallen angel. Only for Raynare to react by flapping her wings, jumping into the air, and throwing her spear.
Galen seeing the spear flying towards him, tried to jump backwards to avoid the hit, only for it to land right in front of him and explode in a shockwave. The devil was flipped into the air by the force of the explosion, but he landed on his feet right behind Asia.
"Galen…" Asia called out as she ran over to her friend.
"Serious…" The Fallen Angel called out to her wannabe Adversary in mockery "Facing someone as powerful as me with something as common as a Double-Critical."
Galen cocked his eyes at the attitude Raynare displayed, with the said coal-colored wing enemy catching the expression and explaining "That Sacred gear you're wearing in the most common of them all. It allows you to double you strength only once before becoming useless." While ranting, she hastily formed another spear and shot it at her target.
The Devil, instead of dodging the incoming javelin-shaped light, felt the need to raise his hand up towards the spear. With his body acting on instinct, Galen used his hands in an attempt to block the incoming spear.
The Result, the spear clashed against his hands, but instead of exploding, the spear seemed to halt as the tip met the palm of the devil's hand, with electrified light crackling between the Galen's hand, and the Raynare's weapon.
Despite her shock, Raynare recovered her composer rather quickly by formed another spear and charging straight at her target.
Galen, seeing Raynare charging at him, quick dashed away to the right, away from the blond Nun, allowing the spear the devil stopped to fly towards a tree, and the Fallen Angel to miss him.
Raynare recovered by throw the light on the ground in front of the devil, which exploded and caused Galen to be flown further into the air by the shockwave. The young Devil crashed onto the ground, with the force of the fall nearly dislocating his left shoulder as he landed on it.
Raynare took this opportunity to fly over her target and chose to levitate over the boy while forming yet another spear in her hand. The Fallen Angel held the spear over her head and once more threw the spear at The Devil.
Galen only had enough time to avoid the spear from making a life threating blow to him, not to say that it didn't nick him on his right shoulder.
While the pain from the water-down holy light began to sear through his arm and upper body, Galen held his scream through his teeth.
The Fallen Angel was about to form another light spear when…
"STOP!" A voice wailed out the reminded the combatants of the reason for the scuffle. With both Raynare, and Galen, with the former struggling, now facing Asia, the girl continued "Please, I'll go with you…Just…Please…" She couldn't finish her pleas as she choked on her words.
Galen tried to speak out against this, but Raynare landed on him and softly planted her heels on the devil's throat to keep him from speaking.
The Fallen Angel had contemplated the girl's request. On one hand, killing the devil now would rid her of any future problems and would most certainly please her beloved, but make the former Nun more difficult to deal with. On the other hand, leaving him alive will make Asia a bit more compliant, and the Devils even easier to deal with later, not that any devil stood a chance in the first place.
On that note, Raynare stepped off Galen, and cloaked Asia in her jet black wings while saying "Well if you insist."
Galen tried to roll onto his knee in an attempt to stand back up, but as soon as he looked up to see black feather swirling around, obscuring his vision. Next thing he knew, both Asia and her captor had disappeared entirely.
Before Galen could vainly call out to his new-found, now-lost friend, a strange noise drew his attention behind him and he glanced in the direction to see Rias walking through a magic circle, looking down at her latest comrade with both fear and worry.
(The Old School Clubhouse)
A loud slapping sound caused the senior members of Rias Peerage to flinch as witnessed their leader stand before her newest servant was being disciplined.
"Galen, when I told you to cut ties with that girl…" Rias spoke in a tone meant to lecture her servant "I expect you to follow my orders."
Galen felt the pain on his cheek searing from the slap, but compared to his recently healed wounds, it was nothing. "But Asia was trying to leave the Fallen Angel, surely that wouldn't cause…" The New Devil tried to argue for the poor girl's defense, but sadly Rias wouldn't hear any of it.
"Regardless of the situation, the girl made her choice and…" Rias spoke up, her tone leaving no room for argument or nonsense.
However, her quote spark something in Galen that made his temper flare. "It was made for Her!" He barked out, causing the occupants of the clubhouse to recoil in the tone the normally quite devil used, with the entire room shaking though it went unnoticed.
Even Rias was shocked by the outburst, but before she could rebuttal, Galen turned away. "Where do you think you're going?!" she asked, but she already theorized what her servant's answer was.
"I'm going to save Asia." Galen predictably answered as he walked away, but was stopped by both Kiba and Koneko standing before him, their eyes pleading for him to reconsider his choice.
"Galen…" Rias began to speak "Think about what you're doing…" the Crimson haired Gremory forcible spun her servant around, forcing the boy to face her "Not only would you start a war between Devil-kind and the Fallen Angels, but what you're doing is nothing short of a suicide run…"
"Then disown me, that way it won't be a problem on you end." Galen spoke out once more with an edge decorating his tone.
Rias, almost flinching at the tone and sighing tirelessly at Galen tug-of-war style argument, opened her mouth to speak once more, only to pause at the sight of her queen entering the room with a distinctive look on her that the crimson Gremory recognized immediately.
Akeno, despite sensing the growing hostility in the room, casually made her way over to her master and whispered something in her king's ear.
Rias, who now properly absorb this information from her sources, decide to act on this. "I have to go and take care of something…" Rias informed everyone, but her eyes rested solely on Galen "And you better not do anything reckless like getting yourself killed."
With that, Rias and Akeno made their way to the exit of the clubhouse, but stopped just as they stood at the entrance with the Crimson Gremory speaking up "Galen, you power as the pawn of my servant is equivalent to the power of any other active evil piece nearby. To activate it, all you need is my permission and to be within enemy territory. From there, all you need to do is visualize the piece you wish to use and apply it as needed."
Before Galen could ask for clarity, Rias and her queen departed.
Galen attempted to wrap his head around the interjection his master provided, only to be interrupted by the Knight of Gremory speaking up "Well that our Que."
"Que?" Galen turned to Kiba, cocked eye.
Kiba smiled as she explained "Rias is allowing you to go infiltrate the Fallen Angel's liar and rescue the nun."
"When did she say that?!" confusion evident the Knight and Rook of Gremory.
"When she explained to you how your Evil Piece powers work and order you not to get yourself killed, she indirectly gave you permission." Kiba hope he clarified the situation to his comrade.
Galen didn't quite grasped the underline tone of the conversation, but the gest of it was he was allowed to go save Asia.
As he made his way to the door, only to be stopped by Koneko grabbing his wrist and saying "Wait, let us get ready."
At that, Galen's eye shifted at confusion. "You guys are coming with me?"
Koneko and Kiba nodded "Yep, if going into a den of Fallen Angels and excommunicated Priest by yourself isn't reckless…"
Holding up his arms in defeat, Galen muttered "I get it, I get it…"
(Abandoned Church)
The trio arrived at the church that was concealed by the forest, and once they pushed through the doors, they saw a ransacked building with a layer of grim on the seats, and just about every stature and picture either smashed or ruin beyond recognition.
Galen's devil senses were flaring as he could just feel the hostility and negativity flowing through the building.
Then a series of claps began to ring through the building and out of the shadows appeared Father Freed.
"Well, well, well…" the priest spoke in his tone that made everyone's skin crawl "This is the first time that I've been reintroduced to some shit-stain of a devil, and let me tell ya, it just pissing me off…"
"Where is Asia…?" Galen spoke, trying to not let any of his emotions to surface.
However, Freed had sensed the frustration, merely smirked "Oh my, is the big bad scary devil lusting over our beloved, but vile sister. Well I don't…"
While the deranged began to rant Kiba made the first move by speeding up to the priest, drawing his sword, and bringing it down.
However, Freed managed to draw his own sword to block the incoming weapon and pull out his gun to fire off several bullets at his attacker, only for Kiba to vanish and appear right behind the Father.
Freed responded in turn by jumping back a few feet, only crouch down as to avoid an incoming Pew thrown at him courtesy of Koneko. Father Freed retaliated by aiming his gun and firing off several rounds of bullets towards the petite Devil.
Galen was amazed by the coordination Kiba and Koneko possessed while battling the deranged priest.
Shaking himself out of amazement, Galen decided to join in the fray. Remembering Ria's instruction, the devil to a deep breath and visualized the piece he wished to become.
As he remembered the pieces their representative abilities, he choose to become a knight. Then suddenly felt a strange sensation igniting within him and started to run. Only figures like Freed and Koneko seemed to be standing still while Kiba seemed to be jumping all over the place.
Galen snapped himself out of his stupor, he ran up beside the Father and grabbed his sword hand.
While ignoring the stupefied look, Galen once more focus on his pawn piece and charged it from knight to rook in a flash. After feeling the surge of power within him once more, The Pawn of Rias lifted his fist and smashed it against Freed's abdominals before delivering an uppercut to the chin.
While in a daze, Galen took the opportunity to fling the Father over his shoulder and send him flying through the rows of pews, before crashing into the wall.
At his feet Galen noticed the handle of the light sword Father Freed dropped after he attacked him. Within a second at gazing at the church weapon, Galen felt some sort of familiarity bubbling up as he studied the weapon. Only to break out of his trance with a hand resting on his shoulder, with Kiba being the offender.
"Nice Bad for your first real fight." Kiba spoke with genuine praise in his dialog.
Galen nodded in apperception "Thanks…"
"This Way…" Koneko spoke up, drawing the two boys to a secret passage age the petite girl unveiled.
With that the trio descend downward, only to stumble a dimly lit cavern.
While torches hanging from the side provided what little light, they could still make out at least fifty rogue priest with their demonic empowered vision, but the most horrifying sight was what was the further from the trio.
At a structure that looked reminiscent to an altar, was Asia, dressed in a white gown, tied to a cross while the Fallen Angel Rayarne look up at the terrorized girl before turning towards the intruders.
Rather than looking shocked or annoyed, the fallen angel looked devious as she said "Well, well, well look like we have some party crasher her boys…" she paused as to allow the rogue priest a moment to look and see the devils that perched their hideout.
"How about we give these devil scum a proper welcome then…" Raynare finished as she formed a light spear in her hands and flung it at the trio.
The incoming spear caused Rias' group to scatter, allowed the purple-colored spear to collide with the wall. However, upon landing separate from each other, were immediately pounced on by nearby priest that drew their light swords.
Koneko began introducing her empowered fist and feet to the faces and guts of her attackers, sending them flying into the wall or other priests.
Kiba used his speed to its fullest to dodge and retaliate against the rogues who attempted to gang up on him, which resulted in several of them doubling over in pain as gashes appeared across their being.
Galen stuck to using the knight piece to dodge and swerve around his own group of attackers. Just as one tried to backstab him, Galen slid to the left, allowed the sword to sour between his right arm and torso. Then grabbed the priest's sword arm with his left hand while grasping his wrist with his right hand.
While attempting to disarm the attacker, Galen used the struggle to wail the rogue's priest's sword at his own comrades, successfully slashing a couple would be attackers down.
In the heat of the moment, Galen managed to liberate the weapon from the exorcist, caught it while it was falling and stab his enemy through the chest. Then letting go of the after he felt his hand warm up.
He chose to ignore the pain from his hand in favor of dodging another priest.
After knocking down a few more exorcists, Galen thought back at how he summoned that lighting. While it was mere instinct that triggered, Galen forced himself to remember the feeling that allowed him to activate his ability.
Upon feeling a surge of energy bubbling up inside of him, he jumping into the air and then as he fell back down to the ground, unleashed a massive shockwave that knocked the rogue priest.
And just like that, the swarm of Exorcists were sent flying away.
Where the Rogues landed, how they landed or the amazements from his comrades mattered little to Marek. He's only concern was getting to Asia and sprinted to her location.
Raynare, seeing the devil coming towards her and her prize, smirked as she felt her ritual come full circle.
Just as Galen made it to the first steps to the altar, He heard the Fallen Angel whisper "You're too late."
Asia's pained howl echo throughout the cavern.
Galen paused as he could only look on in horror as a transparent green aura surrounded the blonde girl, before floating off of her and condensing into a sphere. Within the green-hue sphere was a pair of silver ring with a small green gem on each.
After snatching the pair of rings, Raynare crackled in howls of victories laughter.
Galen ignored the fallen angel, who began to ramble on about her newfound power, instead focused on Asia. The Devil sprinted towards the girl as she became detach and fell from the cross, catching her before she hit the ground.
Just from gazing at the girl, while ignoring her labored breathing, he somehow felt a chunk of her being was missing. The same feeling was also signaling something else to the boy that gripped him with fear.
She was dying.
Raynare glance down, smiling as she felt the despair radiant off his target.
"Aw…" She spoke in an obvious mocking tone "After everything you done to get here, just to watch the poor girl die." The Fallen Angel slapped herself on the face as she laughed "I bet you thought you were going to be some Hero, bursting through the wall and saving the damsel-in-distress." She laughed some more before continuing "Just seeing that girl's face twist as I told her I was going to kill you, Oh that just made my day. I'm just disappointed that you didn't get here sooner so she could watch as her knight in shining armor bleed out…"
"SHUT UP!" Galen roared out and he twisted around, thrust his hand forward, and the fallen angel flew through the air. After smashing against a wall, Raynare attempted to pull herself out, only for another force to grasp her neck and began to strangle her.
Galen, once more driven on instinct, curled his fingers and thumbs as if he imagined them wrapped around the twisted woman's neck, squeezing the breath right out of…
"Galen…?" A voice, no barely a labored whisper, rang out that snapped the devil out of his rage looking down to see Asia, eyes still closed but breathing rapidly.
"Asia?!" Galen called out as he brought his hand back to cradle Asia's head.
Only once he did, Raynare regained her breathe. After getting over her wonder and massaging her throat, she looked down at her attacker with anger flooding out of her being. With a wave of her hand, she materialized a spear in her grip and flew down to the devil while he was distracted.
Just as Raynare was about to ram her spear through the devil, a blur appeared in front of her and deflected her weapon.
Galen, hearing a clang, turned back to see Kiba holding the purplish light spear with his sword, that strangely looked pitch as opposed to light grey.
Kiba glanced back at his comrade shouting "Galen, make a break for it. We'll hold them off!" As he spoke, the light from the spear began to dim, causing the fallen angel to flap away, but a rogue priest came flying at her, knocking her out of the air.
Galen turned to see Koneko with her arms raised as if she just thrown something. With a nod, the petite girl gave her approval to her comrade plan and moved to grab another rogue priest.
Galen didn't have time to argue as Kiba disappeared once more and swung his sword towards Raynare.
The Pawn of Rias then activated his knight ability to run out of the cavern while dodging the rogue priest. Finally, after returning back to the church's main room, Galen looked down to see Asia struggling to stay awake despite the pain she appeared to be in.
Galen walked towards one of the undamaged pews, gentle laying the girl down and begun to study her. All hope began to dissipate as Asia's condition was worsen, and there were no clear signs on how to help her.
"Galen…" Asia whispered as she managed to open her eyes.
"Don't speak…" Galen pleaded to the girl "Just hang in there…" the devil trailed off as he tried to find the right words to comfort the blond nun.
Asia understood the situation despite the boy's attempts to calm her. She smiled as she began to gently carcass his cheek and said "I'm sorry, I've been nothing but trouble for you. After all you done for me today." Tears began to form as the day's events flashed through her mind.
"NO!" Galen shouted out "Don't think about any of those thing." He frantic shuffled through his mind, trying to think of anything to cheer the girl up. "Think about today, when it was just the two of us…" he paused once more to try and think of something else "Like how you got to eat a burger for the first time, or playing those games and winning the doll…"
Galen was cut off as he saw the tears finally pouring out of Asia and the sad smile became more pronounced.
"Thank you for everything Galen…" Asia spoke with her voice growing weaker before shutting her eyes and her outstretched hand drop.
Galen could do nothing but look down at Asia's still form, with horror and sadness overwhelming him.
Tears began to pour out of the devil's own eyes as his mind kept shuffling around everything he knew about the now deceased nun. How happy she portrayed herself despite the pain of being an orphan, to the loneliness she felt by the very people who exiled her, to now, even on death door step, still felt nothing but concern and prayed for his welfare.
"Aww. How dreadful…" A voice broke Galen out of his daze to see Raynare, who, despite hovering over him, seemed to be more interested in a small cut on her forearm. Which she placed her hand over it and a green glow illuminated from a silver ring that the devil instantly recognized as Asia's sacred gear.
The Fallen Angel only stared at the device in loving affection as her wound soon disappeared. "It a shame we Fallen Angels lose are divine protection after falling, but with this, I'll be unstoppable!" She then folded her hands into each other and closing her eyes. "Oh Lord Azazel, with me by your side, our enemy's will grovel on their knees…"
"What any of that have to do with Asia…?" Galen broke the woman out of her day dream "She did nothing to you, and yet you still killed her." An edge decorated his tone that threaten to boil over into rage.
Raynare was merely annoyed by the interruption. "Well you could see this as a mercy killing…" She lowered herself down to the ground at this point.
Galen narrowed his eyes as he tell the half-ass excuse.
Raynare noticed this, but shrugged her shoulders and continued "I mean, it's not like she was could be able to fit in with normal humans. Despite all their praise, human are actually terrified of people like her, and more than willing to get rid of them as soon as they prove…inconvenient."
The Devil teeth stated to grind against each other as the Fallen Angel's words rang true with what Asia's said earlier.
"I mean…" Raynare continued "She did tell you about how the church was hoarding her away, using her to gather more lap dogs until she healed a devil and threw her out. And even if she did stick around, it not like she could live among other humans. She'll never have any sort of friends."
"I was her friend!" Galen cried out in a blind fit.
"If that your standard, I just love to see what you do to your enemy." Raynare mocking ended with howls of laughter filling the empty church.
Galen threw himself into a fit of rage as he launched himself at the woman, his mind flooded with flashed between Asia's suffering form and the Fallen Angel twisted form of joy.
Raynare merely flapped her jet-black, feathered wings to lift herself into the air. She then maneuvered herself to float behind the devil and summoned a pair of spears for her to throw.
Galen, now running on rage and instinct, sensed the beams of light coming at him from behind and activated his sacred gear. Swing his covered fist to backhand both spears, shattering the light construct upon contact.
The Green gem on the Sacred gear glowed.
Raynare's eyes widened in shock at the display of ferocity the devil showed, but she wasn't shocked enough to not react to Galen lunging at her. She responded once more forming a light spear and throwing the weapon.
Only for Galen to blur out of existence and appear beside Raynare, delivering a punch to the girls face and sending her down crashing into the remains of the damaged pews.
Once more the green gem flashed a green light.
The Fallen angels quickly regained enough of herself to roll away from the spot just as Galen came down and stuck the ground.
Reacting quickly, Raynare conjured up yet another spear and thrust it forward to stab the devil through the abdominals. Then as Galen grunted in pain, the Fallen Angel lifted him off the ground and threw him at a wall. Afterwards for good measure, she conjured up a few more spear in midair and sent them flying into the Devil's forearms and thighs.
Now Galen could no longer bite through the pain erupted from his wounds and howled in agony.
Despite the pain, the gem once again flashed a green light.
Raynare, satisfied with her work, started to brush off the imaginary dust off her shoulder before facing her hand-full of an enemy. "I have to say, you're actually keeping me on my toes…" She then held her hands over her head and a faint green glow enveloped her form, healing all of her injures as minor as they were.
Galen could only bite through the pain as he tried to formulate a new plan of attack.
"But there still a limit to what a newbie with a piss pour sacred gear can do." Raynare commented after she felt the annoyances of her perfections wash away. "Ahh, that's better." She now brought her new tools down to eye level "These were indeed wasted on that girl…"
"Her name…" Galen grunted as he spoke through the burning pain "is Asia Argento!" the green gem flashed once more.
Raynare said nothing at this.
"She was the sweetest, most innocent person I've ever met." Galen voice was trembling, whether from the pain of his wounds or his reminiscent of his friend was still up in the air "She, even after being abandoned by her own parents, by the church, even as she died, didn't have an ounce of hate in her…"
Suddenly the room church started to shake, startle the fallen angel, but her devil foe remained unfazed.
"…All She wanted in her life was a friend." Galen continued "And you…!" the quaking in the build was becoming more pronounced as the air felt thicker and heavier. "WILL PAY!"
Suddenly the disk on Galen's hand transformed into a gauntlet that covered his entire hand to the finger tips in red armor, and extended to his fore arm.
"Explosion!" A deep voice that originated from the newly transformed gauntlet shouted before Galen felt power flooding his system.
The Devil grunted as he felt the power expend out of him, dispelling the imbedded light spears and sending loose debris flying off the ground into the walls.
Raynare brought her arms up to shield her face from both the rubble and brilliant green light shining off the devil. All the while taking note at how his power level was spiking.
'Impossible!' The fallen angel thought as the power of the devil continued to grow 'That power at least on par with a matured devil. But, Double-Criticals don't have this sort of potential!'
So lost in her amazement, Raynare failed to read Galen rushing at her with an outstretched arm. Only to realize it once his hand grasped her throat and her back was slammed against the wall. Despite the pain, the fallen angel then raised her hand, conjured up a light spear and attempted to stab her opponent.
Only for Galen to raise his free hand, and block the spear from piercing him with his sacred gear, which dissipated upon contact.
Raynare was shell-shocked as her only method of attack was now useless and could only stare down in horror as the devil stare back with blood lusting rage painting his bright yellow eyes.
'What…?!' For a brief moment, Raynare was knocked out of her fear induced shocked and did a double-back only to see his original brown eyes.
This distractions cost her as Marek reaffirmed his grip on the fallen angel before jumping back and slammed her on the ceiling. Then he threw her down towards the floor, causing a crater to form, before falling down to land right on top of her, feet first.
To put an end to his beat down, Galan lifted Raynare off the ground and formed a fist, subconsciously building up the power in his hand before bringing it into the fallen angel's gut. Which caused the madwoman to go flying through the solid brick wall and into several trees in the surrounding forest.
Galen could only stand, panting heavily as fatigue began to settle in and he collapsed onto his knees before falling face first to the floor.
Marek's continued to pant from the sudden burst of energy that came into his being and vanished just as fast. He then found himself lifted off the ground, weakly turning his head to see it was the blond knight Kiba supporting him.
"You're alright?" Galen asked through his inhales and exhales.
Only for the Blond Swordsman to nod and say "Yep. Sorry for not being here sooner…" he added with a sheepish grin "Rias told us to let you handle this."
Hearing this, Galen became cocked eye to display his confusion.
"You might find this hard to believe…" A voice, which was instantly recognized as the O.R.C. President's, broke the Pawn of Gremory out of his stupor. "But I do trust you..." She then appeared in front of the boy "I only just trying to make sure you come back in one piece."
Galen could feel the genuine concern radiant off the Crimson hair girl, something that he was quite unfamiliar with, but didn't unwelcome it.
A creaking door broke the scene's mood. Everyone turned to see Koneko dragging a battered and broke, otherwise whole Raynare while saying "Special delivery." Before throwing her to the Rook's mistress's feet.
Raynare weakly looked up and upon seeing the crimson lock, she recognized the current Gremory heiress, and younger sibling to the current Lucifer.
"Good Evening Miss Fallen Angel…" Rias started thing off by reaching into the pocket of her skirt and pulled out two jet-black feathers, flashing them before a stunned Raynare.
"As you can probable tell, these are remains of your followers." Rias paused for a second before continuing "Now, not only is trespassing in my Family's territory a serious offense, but having the nerve to scheme in my own backyard." She laughed lightly "I was even willing to ignore all that until you laid a finger on my servants."
Rias' speech struck a chord in Galen that was leaving him befuddled.
Kiba, sensing his comrade's confusion, whispered in his ear "The only reason she decided to get involved was because of you."
Hearing this Rias spun around to face her servants and gave them both a smile.
Galen felt a little bashful at this and the realization that his master was more caring than his gave her credit.
However, upon seeing Galen's newly transformed sacred gear, Rias' was shocked to the core as she recognized it. "So that explains a lot."
This befuddled everyone in the room, so Rias decided to explain "The reason Galen power have been increasing so rapidly was because what you assumed was a simple Double-Critical…" She directed her attention towards the lone fallen angel "Was actually one of the thirteen piece of Longinus, The Boosted Gear." While her tone may have been calm and even to everyone else, she was secretly enjoying the horror that painted on the once arrogant former agent of the heavens.
Without a doubt everyone present, save Galen, knew about the legendary Boosted Gear was arguably the most powerful sacred gear in known existence. Lore described the gauntlet that housed the spirit of a dragon who, at his full power, could surpass God itself. Qualities that are passed on its bearer, including the downside of it taking forever to power up.
Raynare was grinding her teeth together in frustration as she realized how much she screwed up.
Rias, having said her piece, decided to wrap things up. "Now that we clear the air Miss Fallen Angel, it time for you…"
"Galen, Please!" A soft frighten voice called out, causing the Gremory Peerage to see Raynare shift to her mortal form. "Please, I never meant to hurt you! It was this Devil doing!" Tears began to form at the corner of her eyes as she continued "They killed that girl, and setting me up…" She quickly ran out of breath as the air in the church suddenly became unbearable heavy.
The devils weren't fairing any better as they suddenly dropped to their knees to relief themselves from the pain of the preesure.
Except the devil causing the events.
Galen temper continued to rise as the Fallen angel's ploy sank in. How dare she… How dare she even think about playing innocent!
'Rage'
After all the pain.
'Hatred'
After all this suffering.
'Pain'
All just to improve her EGO!
'Unleash it'
Galen thrust his hand forward, delivering a shockwave that pushed Raynare into the wall.
The Devil ignored the fear that plaster his comrade's faces as he maintained eye contact with the fallen angel, who illusion was broke and now dedicating her energy to staying awake.
Galen lifted his right hand up and the light sword hilt flew from the rubble and into his grasp. Squeezing the hilt caused the blade to ignite and with a flick of his wrist, Galen spun the hilt so he was holding the blade along the back of his forearm.
While the holy light emitting from the weapon was causing some pain, it only fueled his anger.
He stepped lightly towards the fallen angel, his eyes never leaving hers, as if to make sure that in her last moments, that last things she saw were his bright yellow eyes, filled with murderous rage.
After a few steps, he stood right in front of her form, leering down at her before twirling the lightsword to hold it like a normal, all the while raising it over his head, ready to bring it down as the thoughts of what the monster before him had done.
His mind flashed images of Asia's pained to her still form. His hand shaking as his anger continued to rise and brought down the blade.
Suddenly, He remembered Asia's smile and stopped his blade's descent.
Galen continued to stare down as the frightened, but confused fallen angel, and questioned if ending her life would actually resolve any of this.
'Don't give in…'
A new voice seemed to lighten Galen's being for reasons unknown to him.
Within seconds of relaxing himself, Galen made his choice and deactivated the light weapon.
Everyone present, now feeling the pressure disappear, were shocked by the show of mercy Galen displayed.
Galen continued to eye down Raynare, as if contemplating what to do, until he laid eyes on the Twilight Healing rings. Holding out his hands he said "Asia's sacred gears, give them to me."
Raynare was shocked by the offer, so much that her hesitation made Galen narrow his eyes even more. Treating it as a signal, Raynare ripped off the rings and placed them in the devil's hands.
"Now get out." Galen commanded after retracting his hand and spun around towards his group, while tossing the deactivated light sword hilt away.
Raynare decided to cut her losses and fled out the open window, disappearing into the night.
Galen walked pass the group and stopped by Asia's body. After looking down at the newly recovered items he knelt down and gently placed them back on their original owner's hands.
"Why did you spar her Galen?" Rias' voice stole the reincarnated devil's attention.
After a moment of silent The Devil answered "Because it wouldn't made a difference…" Galen choked out as tears were once more forming at the corner of his eyes "I failed her, and there's no undoing that."
Rias was shocked by the answer, but never-the-less happy about it. She took a step closer and rested her hand on his shoulder, giving it a gentle rub before saying "You did everything you could. I'm sure she would never think any less of you."
Galen took only a little comfort in these words so Rias decided on a different course of actions.
"Galen, I know this doesn't make sense, but…" After fumbling around her skirt pocket, she pulled out her last Bishop piece "Do you know what this is?" She flashed it before her pawn.
Despite the tears almost clouding his vision, Galen could see the chess piece, but shock his head, denying any form of knowledge.
"That the one of the unused Evil pieces…" A new voice rang out, and Galen turned to see Akeno appeared from the shadows.
"Yes." Rias confirmed her Queens answers "Or more precisely, it the Bishop piece, who are mainly acting as a support unit for their team. A fitting position for someone like our dear sister, wouldn't you say?"
Galen was lost by the direction of the statement, but then it dawn on him. Hope shined in his brown eyes.
Rias nodded before following it up with "With no affiliations with the Church or the Fallen Angels, there's no issues bring in a former nun to our family."
With that, the group gently laid Asia's body on the ground, with Rias putting her evil piece on the girl's chest, stretched out her arm and shut her eyes before chanting "In the Name of Rias Gremory..." A crimson magical circle formed beneath Asia's still form as its caster continued "I call to Asia Argento hear my command. Return thy soul from the depths of the Shadow to the Human realm. Rise once more as my Demon servant. Rejoice as you have been given new life. Wake as my Healer and clergyman."
With that, the magical circle enveloped the former sister and the Bishop piece sank into her chest.
Once the red light disappeared, Asia's form began to stir before she opened her eyes.
Galen watched as Asia raised herself up from the ground and looked around to see a group of people huddle around her. Happiness, shock, and relief flooded his spirit as he knelt down and wrapped his arms around Asia.
Rias smiled at Galen little display, but chosed to input her orders "Reviving people isn't something I can do often, but her abilities are useful for my team." Galen looked back to his master as she spoke "However, I expect you to look after her…" She finished her command with a smile "You are her senior after all."
"Um…Galen…" Said boy shifted his attention towards the resurrected nun, who could simply be described as baffled "What's going on?"
While the question was simple, the full explanation as another story, so Galen decided to hold off for a later date by saying "Don't worry. Everything's going to be alright." He added with a smile.
Meanwhile, Raynare continued to fly away from the scene as fast as she could despite her injuries. Teeth grinding against each other as her the reality of her defeat sunk in.
As the cold wind blew on her form, her anger warmed her core. Mentally swearing revenge on those who humiliated her, especially Galen Marek.
Suddenly, a green magic circle consumed her.
(The Next Day at Kuoh Academy)
Within a day, everyone was fully recovered from the incident, with the help of their newest member Asia, who already proven quite useful for Rias' team by healing everyone.
Galen, who sustain the most damage due to his recklessness, never felt better as he sat across from his master.
Rias casual drack her tea as she ran scenarios in her head. Last night's event might have answered a few of her questions, but a dozen more appeared.
While relief that Galen, who was sitting across from her, seemed to have regained control over himself before killing the fallen angel who wrong him in cold-blood, he mustered up such uncontrollable rage and moved while he was still wounded, and even going as far as to holding a light sword as if he had prior experience beforehand.
A possible explanation that he was a member of the church before her families, but that didn't fit well with the evidence that they had on him when they found him.
Sadly, the only way of finding any sort of answer was to take the direct approach.
"Galen, Last night was indeed an accomplishment…" Rias began the conversation "The fallen angels out of our territory, but we're added a new member to out ranks. Not only that, you single handedly defeated their leader and even shown mercy despite everything she had done."
Galen felt his pride swell up as Rias praised him, but he felt an itching suspicion the conversation was going to take a one-eighty any second.
Rias paused as she mentally prepared herself for the worse part. "However, despite this, I can't help but be concern with you anger."
Galen flinched a little at this, but Rias powered through "I'm sorry, but can't put this off. You've been displaying a new type of power I've never seen or even heard of before that seem to be connected with your anger. Every time you triggered, your developed a one track mind to harm, even killing, whoever in your crosshair."
Although, this assumption was only made with only two encounters, it was enough to get her to initiate her own investigation before her superiors do. With the worst case scenario being either imprisoned like her other Bishop was, to even being executed if he's proven too much of a problem for anyone to handle.
Her stomach did backflips at the thought of her servant being subjected to such extremes. Such thoughts fortified her resolve to help her servant no matter the cost.
Galen, to his credit, felt horrible as the vague memories of the fallen angels who fell by his hands, the voices who urged him to kill them, and him actually taking its advice in the heat of the moment at one time. Now having a chance to recall everything, it did terrify him.
Rias sensed this discomfort, and got up from her seat to stand behind while giving him a hug. "I'm sorry for being sacred of you, but I want to do whatever I can to help you. I just don't know where to start." She confessed "I also can't do it without your help."
Galen then said "What can I do to help?"
Rias smiled lightly before replying "If there anything you can tell me, Tell me and I'll do everything I can to help."
Help. Where can she possible start? He next little, if anything concrete about his powers that didn't seem connected with his sacred gear. How could he tell her about the voices in his head, after hearing about how people like that are usually nutjobs that get locked up for spouting nonsense. How can he possible tell her any of that?
Rias sensed the mood dropping realizing she was moving too fast. "We can start whenever you feel up to it, but know no matter what, I'll be with you ever step of the way."
Galen felt a warm inside as his master spoke those words, as if any negative thought of their potential conversation were being swept away, little by little.
Rias decided to reinforce the mood by giving her servant a little peck on the cheek.
Galen pulled away in shock as his face became red in embarrassment.
Rias giggled "Not quite the reaction I was expecting. Just consider it your reward for a job well done."
Galen looked baffled as he tried to piece together Rias' line of thinking.
Rias merely shook her head while saying "Geez, I better stop spoiling you before someone gets the wrong Idea."
Galen was about to ask for clearity…
"Um… What going on." A meek voice rang out, causing Galen to look behind him to see Asia, dressed in a school Uniform, standing in front of the door, her face look like it was struggling to contain her jealous, and uncomfortableness, things she never outright experienced before.
Galen could do nothing as he tried to think of something to say to the newcomer. After a half a minute, he finally said something "Um, how long were you there?"
Asia could form a response as she thought back to how Rias kissed Galen, abrupt on the cheek, but the action still produced the same result.
"Well, Since Rias kissed you." Asia spoke with her frame fidgeting "I mean…I understand, She prettier and more outgoing but I was…" Shaking her head feverishly, her rants continued "I'm sorry, I'm not jealous, just insecure!" Her statement seemed more directed at herself then the duo.
Asia Clapped her hands together "Dear lord in heaven…UGH!" Her speech was interrupted by a searing pain erupting in her head, causing her to double over and grasp her head to soooth her pain
"Asia!" Galen nearly leaped over the couch after watch the girl near fall over.
Despite the pain, Asia managed to scream out "It felt like my head is on fire!"
"Well God doesn't respond well to Devil praying to him." Rias added in her own two cent to the conversation.
Asia, now depressed after being remind of her new alliance, responded "Yeah, I can't imagine how angry he is."
"Any regrets?" Rias asked her new Bishop.
Asia merely recover from her funk and answered "No, I'm happy where I am. Especially with Galen" The last part was said rather quietly, but both occupants could make out her word with Galen blushing once more, while Rias smiled.
Before anything else was said, the door opened up to reveal Kiba and Koneko each carrying a bag, and Akeno following closely behind the pair with a cart with cake and utensils.
"Hello everyone, hope you're all in the mood for some cake!" Akeno announced.
"I know we're a little late…" Kiba followed up "But here's a little something to welcome our newest comrades." The blond swordsman reached into his bag and pulled out a pack of sparkly cider
Koneko nodded as she reached into her own bag to pull out complimentary sweets.
Asia looked ecstatic by the gestured, while Galen seemed stunned, but then happy by the present his new friends had given him and Asia.
Leaving worry behind for another Day, Galen stood up from the sofa and joined the gang in the celebrations.
Well that another Chapter down, _ to go.
I would like to give a shout out to Vitork, who been helping me out, and to apologize for not realizing this story sooner.
-And now, the Lightsaber poll!
Blue-8
Red-9
Green-2
Purple-5
Black -2
Single-11
Dual-11
B.T.W.
To clarify, what I meant by Double lightsaber, I meant by two separate lightsaber, not double bladed like Darth Maul's. But if the dual lightsaber poll wins, then I could include a function where he could combine both hilts like Ventress's lightsabers. Also I ask reviewers to make a clearer decision (Like a reviewer saying they prefer a red or blue), otherwise I'm counting both colors (which will affect the poll).
Keep in mind this poll will continue for at least one more chapter, but Galen won't actually get a Lightsaber(S) until The Match between Rias and Riser. Please visit Youtuber EvanNova95's video "Star Wars Lightsaber Colors and Meanings" for more information, so you chose can be clearer.
Also to clarify another flaw in this chapter is Galen using a light sword, despite being a Devil. The only excuse I can offer is that I have no solid Idea how the weapons work. I'm going off my personal assumption that the hilts store holy power within them till they're activated, and given a devil tried to use the weapon would only get burned sensed the holy power emitting on the surface of the weapon. Thus only priests are able to use the weapons. If I'm wrong (Which I admit I'm probably am), well shame on me.
To quote Raven from the six episode animated show 'Spicy City' "They say Romance has become a Lost Art, But art only gets lost when it becomes Hard Work."
