Chapter 26

Gajeel hung up the phone and got out of the bed. Levy was sitting up, looking at him curiously. Without saying a word, he got dressed. He looked in his dresser and found a t-shirt and some sweats that were too small for him. He took the clothes to Levy and kneeled in front of her.

"Levy, I need you to get dressed." The use of her given name made her worry.

"Gajeel? What's going on? What did Lucy say?"

"Get dressed before I tell you." Gajeel slipped the shirt over her head then handed her the pants. She tied the pants tight enough so they didn't fall off then looked at him.

"I'm dressed, now tell me."

"Levy, we need to go down to the girl's wing. The sirens are not cops breaking up the party. Levy, someone attacked Wendy and Keitaro can't be found."

Levy felt like the floor disappeared beneath her. The world stopped at that moment and she took off running. She bound down the stairs and ran to the other wing of the dormitories. When she got to her hall, a police officer stopped her.

"Ma'am! You can't enter right now!"

"Let me in! My baby! I have to find my baby! Keitaro!" Levy cried as she tried to push past the cop.

Gajeel finally caught up to Levy to see one cop holding her back and another approach. He got to her side and forcibly removed the cop's hands from around Levy. Levy fell to the ground.

"The girl that was attacked is our friend and was watching our three-year-old son. We need to know what happened." Gajeel all but growled.

The second officer is the one who answered. "We got a call tonight. The janitor walked by and saw a door broken down. When we arrived we saw the young girl, Wendy, unconscious on the floor in one of the rooms with a head wound. Until another lady in this dorm informed us of her watching the child, we had no idea. Currently, we have officers searching the building for your son."

"Why are ya searching the building?! He had to of been taken! No one here would hurt Wendy and take Keitaro!" Gajeel was getting angrier by the second as he heard Levy's sob.

"If you could answer a few questions for us, that would help."

"What questions?"

"What was he wearing last?"

"He was in dragon pajamas," Levy sniffed. "He has black hair and red eyes."

"Do you have a recent picture that you can send to me for the amber alert?"

"Amber alert?" Levy began crying again. "Please find my baby!"

"We are doing everything we can, ma'am."

"If you were doing everything, my son wouldn't be missing!" Levy yelled.

Levy was escorted to the police station by the officer to answer more questions. She felt as if her world was slipping into the darkness again. Without Keitaro, she had no reason to go on. Her brain wouldn't function. They wanted to know who could possibly want to take Keitaro. If she has enemies. Or if she thought Wendy was the target and Keitaro was just an innocent witness. She didn't know the answer to any of them. All she knew was that her baby was probably scared and needed her.

Gajeel watched as they took Levy to the police station. He was more scared than he had ever been in his life. Natsu and Lucy were at the hospital and had promised to call him the minute Wendy woke up. All he could do now was wait.

Waiting was never Gajeel's strong point. He felt like he was going mad. If anything happened to the kid, the person responsible would pay with their own life. Levy and Keitaro meant the world to him. They were his family. They were the ones he couldn't live without.

Gajeel pulled out his phone. There was no telling how long Keitaro had been missing. He needed to find him. He needed to protect them. Gajeel took off at a run. He would not rest until Keitaro was found.

He would find his son.
