Hello, everyone. Thank you so much for patiently waiting for this update for such a long time. But we're back now to see where the story takes place. Yui's boys are now going back to the restaurant to meet their little brunette waitress Nanami Nakamura again. I don't own the canon characters as they rightfully belong to their actual owners while I only own my OCs.
"Thank you for choosing Moonlight. Please come back again," Nanami said while bowing as a human family left the restaurant after having a good dinner for the night.
The brunette girl sighs in exhaustion after having a long day of work. While it wasn't near closing time, She was still pretty tired. It wasn't easy to be a waitress at a restaurant where humans and demons could eat together. But only if they're in separate rooms that the place could be at peace and everyone will be happy. However, Nanami does really wishes that humans and demons could be allowed to sit at the same table without any problems.
"Nanami, could you clean table number 5, please?" The owner, Chikashi Tomioka asks kindly to her.
"Sure thing, sir," Nanami said as she went over to table number 5 to clean for the rest of the customers to sit at.
The brunette girl grabs a small bucket of sanitizer water and began to clean it with a white rag. Table number 5 was on the human side of the restaurant, so she should be good for now. Since the incident the other day with those tengu, the owner had refused to let Nanami near the demon side again until she was ready to deal and handle demons again.
"I know that Mr. Tomioka is just trying to protect me from getting harm from demons... But I really can handle myself. I know that humans are fragile when it comes to the strength difference between humans and demons, but I want to show everyone that I don't need physical strength to be strong against a demon," Nanami said to herself in her mind.
Once she was done cleaning the table, Nanami went to the kitchen to meet with Chikashi to talk to him about letting her work again on the demon side. She wanted to help during this time of the strong grudge between the two species is beginning to be at its peak.
Seeing Chikashi was in the kitchen while talking to one of the cooks, Nanami took a deep breath while she was trying to think of what she was going to say to her boss. The brunette girl wanted to sound as mature as possible, not sounding like a reckless teenage girl who has no idea what she's getting into.
"You were right about having that chair in my house, Satoshi. My back has been killing me these days," Chikashi said to the cook as he rubbed his back.
Chikashi Tomioka is short with grey hair and a grey beard. He has warm brown eyes with wrinkles under his eyes and on his forehead.
"No problem, boss. My own father is having the same problem. Thank God that I was able to convince him to buy it since he's so stubborn," Satoshi said happily while he rubbed the back of his head with his eyes closed.
However, once he opens his eyes, Satoshi saw Nanami standing in front of them while she looks like she was thinking about something. Seeing that she didn't notice him looking at her, Satoshi figures that she was trying to talk to Chikashi about letting her serve in the demon side again. Despite what happened the other day, Satoshi knows that the brunette girl only wanted to prove that she can handle herself with demons.
"Looks like someone wants to talk, Mr. Tomioka," Satoshi said to his boss, pointing his thumb at Nanami.
Chikashi turns to see that his youngest employer was behind them. Knowing that she was trying to think of how to talk to him. This is surely about the tengu incident the other time since he put Nanami on the human side for a few days now. The brunette girl never did complain about her schedule, but the old man knew that she would talk to him about this sooner or later.
"I'll speak to her, Satoshi. You may go back to work now, my boy," Chikashi said quietly.
"Sure thing, boss," Satoshi said as he walks over to where Nanami was.
Nanami wasn't even listening to what the two men just said. She was still trying to think about what will she say to her employer.
"Mr. Tomioka, can I please go back to serving the backside again. I'll be more careful from now on, sir." No that's not it. "I'll sound more intimidating when I'll deal with demon customers." Maybe that's it, Nanami," The brunette girl said to herself in her mind.
"Hey, Nanami, the boss wants to speak to you," Satoshi said, pulling her out of her thoughts.
Nanami stopped her train of thoughts as she looks at Satoshi. Satoshi is a tall young man with teal short, wavy hair and round blue eyes. His skin is fair and is muscular. He is also twenty two-years-old.
"Thank you, Satoshi," Nanami said to the cook before bowing.
Satoshi smiles at her before going back to his workstation. Seeing that Chikashi was waiting for her, Nanami took a deep breath and walks over towards her boss. Mentally telling herself that Chikashi has always been a kind and understanding employer to everyone.
"You can do it. He won't fire you if you ask him. Mr. Tomioka has always understood when an employee wants to grow a lot when working," Nanami said to herself as she got closer to the old man.
"Nanami, I've noticed you were standing there while I was talking to Satoshi. Is there anything I can help you with?" Chikashi asks, already knowing the answer before she could even ask.
Taking a deep breath, Nanami knew that this is her chance now. If she didn't tell him, then she'll never challenge herself in her work.
"Mr. Tomioka, I was wondering if I can return to the demon side of the restaurant again, sir," Nanami said while still being nervous.
Chikashi smiles since she really wanted to have a little challenge in her job. Although this restaurant can be very dangerous for all the workers, Chikashi knew that all of them work hard to serve food to everyone who comes here. Nanami is one of the hardest workers that he has ever seen. She truly believes that humans and demons can eat at the same place.
"Nanami, I understand you want to grow in your job, which is a good thing to have for many young employees. But I'm mainly afraid for you since demons like those tengu can be extremely strong for humans like us. Please don't think of me trying to keep you down, but I hate the idea of any of my employees getting harm on the job while I'm unable to defend any of you," Chikashi said gently to the brunette girl.
"I understand, sir. I just want to help out more since things are getting a lot worse for demons who haven't done anything," Nanami said worriedly.
"Still believe that humans and demons can co-exist together in peace. You have so much of your grandfather in you, Nanami," The old man said.
Nanami smiles a little, knowing that her grandfather would have wanted peace between the two species after years of pointless fights.
"Mr. Tomioka, we have some special customers here," One of the hostesses said as she walks towards Chikashi.
"Hmm? Special customers? Everyone who comes here is special," The old man said.
"I know, sir. But what I mean is that these people are special since they helped us the other day," She said, referring to the tengu incident.
Hearing the hostess say that, Chikashi realized what she meant. The old man smiles in delight. He thought of ways to thank them again for helping his restaurant, but he didn't think of anything.
"I can serve them if you want me to, Mr. Tomioka?" Nanami asks.
"That's wonderful of you to asks, Nanami. But perhaps you should let someone else do it instead," Chikashi said to her.
Nanami looks down in disappointment but did what her boss ordered her to do. Perhaps she should have waited for a few more days before she finally asks him.
"I know that Mr. Tomioka is only looking after me since he and Grandpa were best friends in the past, but I really want to show everyone that I can handle myself with demons," Nanami sadly thought as she walks back to the human side to wait to take more orders from other humans.
"Nanami, can you please serve our special customers at table number 6?" The hostess from earlier said to the brunette girl.
Hearing that she'll be the one serving the special customers instead tonight, Nanami's beautiful green eyes widen in confusedness since Chikashi had just told her that someone else will take their orders instead.
"But Mr. Tomioka just said someone will do it," Nanami said.
"I know, but these guys had actually asked for you specifically," The hostess said.
At first, Nanami was willing to accept to serve the special customers, but she didn't want to get in trouble with Chikashi after all he has done for her. Did Chikashi know that their customers had wanted her instead of someone else?
"But what about Mr. Tomioka? Should he at least know that they want a different waitress?" Nanami asks.
"Don't worry. He already told me it was alright. They're in the human side and are waiting for you," The hostess said.
Hearing that Chikashi had changed his mind, Nanami wonders if she was being tricked. But everybody here has been nice to her and no one has ever been mean to her. She wonders why these special customers wanted her to be their waitress if they're considered to be that special for one of the hostesses went over to Chikashi. Maybe they're just friends with Chikashi and he often treated them with great serves? However, they were also mentioned to help the restaurant with an incident just the other day. Not knowing other incidents in the restaurant, Nanami could only think of the day with those tengu.
"It couldn't be those guys, couldn't it?" The brunette girl thought.
Nanami then realizes that she was wasting precious time by standing there while hungry customers are waiting to serve the best food in town. Getting herself together, Nanami got out her pencil and tiny notebook and walks over to where the customers are at.
Once she was near table 6, Nanami had confirmed that the special customers are the same guys who helped her with those tengu. Smiling at a little that she's going to see her rescuers, the brunette girl felt safe that they were eating here again. However, she did wonder why these thirteen guys are on the human side instead of the side of demons. But she remembers what the tengu said about these guys being half-breeds: the word used towards the children born from the union of a human and a demon.
"So... are these guys half-human and half-demon? I don't think I've ever met someone like them before. I wonder if they even remember me. Then again, they did ask for me, so it is possible. Still, I should do the usual before taking their order," Nanami thought as she finally reached her table.
"Hello. My name is Nanami Nakamura. Welcome to Moonlight. May I take your order?" Nanami asks cheerfully as possible for them.
Itsuki turns from his menu to see the same brunette girl from before. It was nice to see that she was alright after what she went through. The redhead teen and his brothers had decided to come here and eat again to make sure that the tengu group hasn't done anything to the restaurant. Seeing that everything was fine, Itsuki was just glad that no one has been hurt.
"Yeah, I think I'll take what I got last time, Nanami," Itsuki said smiling.
"Me, too," Touma said.
"Me, three," Sora cheerfully said.
"Hey! Don't forget about me," Haruto said.
"I'm here, too, Nanami," Kaito said.
"I'll take what I had last time," Yuuto said.
"So will I, Nanami," Riku said.
"Nanami, the food I had was great. Can I have the same one?" Nao said playfully.
"I'll get the same thing as my brothers," Tadao said.
"I'll have the same thing like my brothers," Hayate said.
"The same as last time for as well, Nanami," Osamu said.
"The same thing for me as well," Masaru said.
"I'm with the same, Nanami," Asahi said.
Nanami smiles and took their orders. She went back to the kitchen and give the order to Satoshi. She couldn't believe that Chikashi is slowly beginning to trust her to serve demons again, even if they were half-demons and on the human side of the building.
"You seem to be happy despite a lot more than today. Did the talk with Mr. Tomioka went well, Nanami?" Satoshi asks the brunette girl while he cooks.
"Not exactly, Satoshi. But I'm at least grateful for the table I'm serving," Nanami said happily with a beautiful smile on her face.
Satoshi chuckles a little. At least she was happy serving again instead of moping around of not being a waitress to some demon.
"Wow. That sounds worse when I think about it," Satoshi said to himself in his thought as he cooks the food.
Thank you, everyone, for reading this. There will be a part two for you all. The Komori brothers are very sweet for making sure the restaurant is in one piece after the incident with the tengu. Yui did a good job of making sure her sons were more empathetic towards others instead of being cruel despite how things were with her father.
