Notes: Hopefully this will all link up and make sense as I write this episode. So much is happening simultaneously or not giving you an exact feel. I decided to continue with Goren and show all of Eames next so that it makes sense. I was gonna go with Eames then backtrack to Goren but I worried that would be confusing.

Goren snaked out of his car and into a trifold covered phone booth.

He called the Captain and chief of commissioners. "I stumbled into something you may want to take a look at. This guy Stoat, ex-cop, on suspension tried to recruit me for, he put it as security. It reads off to me. He gave me a gun. It's worth checking into."

"Okay we'll look into it."

"If it checks out, I want my badge back."

"No promises but I'll look into it, see if it treads water. And Goren, you are on suspension you should not be holding onto what I assume is an illegal gun. Get it to me and I'll have CSU trace it and see if anything kicks back."

Goren nodded more of a reflex than an affirmation and of course it was unnecessary as the Captain couldn't see anyway. He turned his head and placed a cigarette in his mouth. "Okay." He wanted to plead, beg, anything...he felt pathetic. His power was gone and he lost his leverage. He only hoped this would help him get the advantage again. "You can get in the morning. I'll be shooting my newly acquired gun to get a feel for it, you know in case anyone follows me. If you come in around 9, you will find it same as I found it in the news. You will keep me in the loop of what you find?"

"As soon as we hear anything. How are you holding up?"

"Been better...look I've got to go."

He lit the cigarette and puffed hoping to calm the restless energy of the unknown at bay. He looked at his own phone noting the missed call. I should probably call her back. I can't. I can't trust myself not to mess it up. She'll understand once things go back to normal.

Instead, he dialed stoat. "I'm in."
