Chapter 1: A Fool's Pride (3/3)

"So, what's the plan?"

Both father and son were down the Batcave, planning on what to do next on the business with Blackmask and Mayor Hill. Alongside the whole disappearance of Harvey Dent's wife, which had very low chances of not being connect with all of this.

"We have to discover the connection between Blackmask and Hill, the first step is the hotel." His father then started to do something on the Batcomputer. It turns out that he was hacking into the The Gotham Royal Hotel's system. The first thing he did, was check the security cameras.

"I'm pretty sure that Hill made a deal with Blackmask to sabotage Harvey's campaign in exchange of a free pass to commit his crimes once he's reelected." Alan presented his theory while folding his arms besides the chair where his father was sitting.

"That's the most obvious explanation, but sometimes, it's not what it seems." His father replied as he typed on the Batcomputer. On the screen, it appeared the photo of Gilda Grace, Harvey's ex-wife. The one that has been reported missing.

"Do you think they gonna use her as leverage against Harvey?" Alan asked.

"Maybe, but something is not right." His father typed a bit more and showed footage of the previous day. The street was relatively calm and there wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Except for a single detail, a very nice green car standing outside of the building where she lives.

"Can you identify the plate?" Alan asked as there was something off about that car. It was 1975 Mercury Bobcat, a strange vehicle, especially if it's supposed to be used for a kidnapping.

"It's a fake plate," His father explained as he checks it. "But the car stayed there all morning and only left at night, strangely, the street camera was smashed at nightfall."

"Okay, I'm the last person in the world to be the judge of that but..." Alan was confused. "Who would use such a car to do a kidnapping?"

"Someone who wasn't planning a kidnapping." His father told him, causing Alan to be even more confused.

"So, you don't think that this has anything to do with Hill or Blackmask?" The boy with slick back hair asked.

"It's a possibility, but we need to investigate it more to be certain." His father explained. "We better chec-" Suddenly, before his father could finish what he was saying. His cellphone started to ring. His father pulled his phone out of his pocket. "It's Harvey." He stood up from the chair.

"I'll check if I can find some type of register for that model." Alan informed him as he took his father place at the Batcomputer.

His father distanced himself to answer the call. Not that there was anything that he wants to hide, it was more about the fact that Alan didn't care about whatever their conversation was about.

Alan decide to check the car registration as that model wasn't common. And it turned out to be the right idea as he found a short list of names, all of them owned that model. Reading the names however, Alan had a surprise. "You got to be kidding me." He spoke out loud as he saw a familiar name written there. All he could do, was to lean back on the chair and wait for his father to finish his call.

It took a few minutes, but eventually, his father finished his call and walked back to the Batcomputer.

"So, what did he want?" Alan asked.

"Harvey wants us to meet tomorrow to discuss his campaign." His father explained. "I'll talk to him about the properties."

"You gonna have to add one more thing to the list of questions." Alan spoke bitterly.

"What do you mean?" His father questioned him. Alan pointed at screen of the computer and as soon as he looked at it, his response was to put his hand on his face in frustration when he saw the familiar name. Harvey's name was on the short list of people that own 1975 Mercury Bobcat, in Gotham city. And Alan is pretty sure that the car on the footage is his.

"I'm gonna erase that day's footage, but this is definitely gonna look suspicious." Alan informed his father.

"It doesn't matter," His father replied. "If they are indeed framing Harvey, we need to put an end to it before the election."

"If?" Alan noticed his father's choice of words.

"I'm starting to have my doubts." He gently pushes the chair where Alan was sitting and types something on the Batcomputer. It only took a moment for him to figure it out what he was searching.

"No reports of car theft." There wasn't a single report of missing vehicle from Harvey. "You actually think he kidnapped his ex-wife?"

"I don't like the possibility, but it's certainly strange." His father pointed out. "But I won't jump into conclusions until I speak to Harvey."

"Until then, shall we focus on Hill and Blackmask?" Alan asked as he stood up from the chair.

"Yes," His father then put the security cameras of the Gotham Royal Hotel back on the screen. "And speaking of which." On the camera, they sight one of the man they were looking for.

"What an ugly suit." Hill was wearing some really ugly looking green suit. "So, is he plotting another sabotage attempt?"

"Can't say." Unfortunately, the camera only showed images and didn't record audios. Although, they noticed that Hill was speaking with someone on the phone. Which led his father to try to hack into it. Suddenly, they started to heard his conversation.

"The attempt was a failure, and now I'm prime suspect." Hill spoke to someone on the phone.

"That's what you get for sending two amateurs for the job, and now five of my men are in custody." They heard a familiar voice.

"Blackmask." Alan recognized the voice. "Can you track where this call is coming from?"

"I'm doing it right now." His father replied.

"With Bruce Wayne's support, Dent has the advantage." Hill complained as most of Harvey's campaign is being financed by his father's money. "The only chance I got, is to either end him or create some scandal."

Maybe we can send a confession of the kidnapping of Gilda Grace to the GCPD. Alan thought as he listened closely.

"End him is your best option, and I already have a plan for that." Blackmask informed him. "Dent will meet his end tomorrow during his meeting with Wayne, and you better keep your end of the bargain otherwise there will be consequences." Blackmask then hang up.

That however surprised the two of them. And they stared at one another in confusion. "How does he know about the meeting?" Alan asked.

His father looked frustrated. "He must be keeping tabs on Harvey." It was the most likely explanation as Blackmask would never be able to breach their security.

"I take it, you didn't got a location." He assumed.

"No." Alan knew it, as the call was just too short to get a location.

"So... Are you going to cancel the meeting, or shall we take this opportunity?" Alan asked as they really need to find Blackmask's location but was risking Harvey's life for it, worth it?

"I don't like it, but it's the only thing to go on at the moment." His father answered. "But we need to be careful, Hill did a clumsy work during the press meeting but we definitely can't expect that from Blackmask."

"What is the plan then?"

The next day came quicker than Alan realized. He didn't really had a good night, it took too long for him to fall a sleep. But he woke up at the right time.

"Are you in position?" His father asked through the communicator.

"Positive."

Harvey insisted in the meeting taking place on his favorite coffee shop. His father was waiting for him in one of the tables outside. They made sure to check the place before hand in case of any explosives being planted on the spot. Luckily, there were none.

Robin was standing on top of a building next to the coffee shop that gave him a good observation spot that allowed him to keep an eye on the perimeter. He had to keep an eye for anything suspicious, but it wasn't going to be as obvious as last time.

"Do you have a plan on how are you going to ask him about the properties and the car?" Robin asked him in curiosity.

"Don't worry about that, keep your attention on the task." His father instructed him.

Although Robin was still curious about that, he decided to follow his father instruction and focus on the task. As he observed the surroundings for anything suspicious, he noticed Harvey's arrival. But... WHAT?! It was Alan's reaction as soon as he saw in what Harvey has arrived. "That the car from the footage!" It was the same 1975 Mercury Bobcat from the footage that the two of them saw yesterday. What the is going on?! He was very confused with everything.

Soon enough, Harvey made his way to the table where his father was sitting.

"Hope I didn't kept you waiting." He heard Harvey through the communicator.

"Not much." Just two hours but that's on us.

"I must say, I was worried about you after what happened at the press conference." Harvey sat down on the table. "You were no where to be found afterwards."

"I had to drive Alan home." His father gave him an excuse. "Did the police said anything about the attempt?"

"Only that they were anarchists or some nonsense like that!" Harvey sounded angry. "I stopped hearing after they said that they weren't payed to do that!" He leaned on the chair as he spoke. "Anyone from a mile away, can tell that it was Hill's doing."

Robin kept observing the area, prepared to whatever Blackmask is planning but at the same time, he was listening to the conversation between his father and Harvey. As there were a lot of questions to be asked, especially with the confirmation that the car in the footage that they saw was Harvey's.

"Speaking of which, did the police questioned you about Gilda Grace?" Neither of them knew her personally as they already filed for divorce before Harvey decided to run for Mayor.

"Yes, they did, apparently I'm the prime suspect." Any particular reason for them to think that? "Seriously, I payed her a visit the day before her supposed disappearance and now I'm trouble for it."

"What was the visit about?" His father asked.

"About some properties that I sold in a hurry during our divorce." Talk about convenience. "I needed to get rid of them before we were fully separated as I was afraid of what she'll have done with them." Now you should be afraid of what Blackmask is doing with them.

Robin was starting to have his doubts over this. Maybe it was paranoia talking but this is just too conveniently explained for his taste. But he'll accept whatever judgment his father takes over this.

The rest of the encounter was as unremarkable as it was humanly possible, since they mostly talk about the campaign which Robin could honestly not be less interested at.

He just waited for thirty minutes, wondering if Blackmask lied about attacking Harvey when he spoke to Hill. But he also knows that a good assassination requires a lot of patience, at least according to Batman's lessons. Even so, there's a limit for how long a conversation can go and he's wondering what could possibly be taking so long to happen.

Okay, what kind of assassination attempt is this supposed to be? Robin wondered. While sitting down at the edge of the rooftop where he was keeping watch, he tried to think about what Blackmask would do. Knowing, he would probably hire a professional assassin or at least someone who isn't an amateur. It may seem a little excessive, but having the Mayor under his pocket will give him a lot of benefits and would give Batman and Robin a lot of difficulty. Hill may be an terrible mayor but the scum has a talent for covering his tracks, which is why he isn't rotting at Blackgate. Robin thought bitterly. Okay, professional assassins, of the long list that Batman has acknowledged, which one would be assessable for Blackmask.

Robin thought deeply about it, but he couldn't come up with anyone. The list was long, but he was difficulty in establishing which assassin would he use. But he also considered another possibility. There's also the possibility of him not really using one. Instead, he may do something that would be called, an overkill. With that in mind. What would be a overkill, because by Blackmask standards... He gave it some thought while he looked around. The only overkill here, would blowing the entire block or somethin... Robin then opened his mouth and subconsciously prayed to be wrong, before he activated his detective vision and looked at the whole street from above. WHAT THE HELL!? As soon as he took a look at the street, he saw that the were several bombs under it, apparently planted in the sewers. Goddammit! When I get my hands in that bastard! Robin was furious , as there were several people, man, woman and children on the street that would definitely get caught on the blast. We checked the entire street before Harvey arrived, but there was no way to see the bombs underneath.

"Batman! Bombs in the sewer, enough to blow the whole street!" Robin warned his father before jumping off the building to check the bombs.

From afar, Robin glided down using his cape, hoping to arrive at the sewer before it's too late.

"Robin, what's your status?" Batman asked him.

"At the sewer, they're not timed bombs, there's probably someone with a detonator on the street." Robin replied as traversed the sewers. "I don't understand why though."

"My presence here is probably what's keeping the place from exploding," Batman replied. "Apparently, Harvey is seeing a woman that lives in this street and he'll pay her a visit after this."

"A whole street exploding would be seen as an act of terrorism, but with Bruce Wayne under the casualties..." His family is the richest in Gotham City, his father dying on this explosion would cause a world of problems to Hill. "The one carrying the detonator is probably observing you from afar."

"I already have an idea of who is it, do your best to disarm the bombs just in case." Batman instructed him.

"I'm on it."

Robin ran through the sewers as fast as he could to find the main explosive that is connected to the detonator. Once the first one blows up, the rest will blow up as well. The smell was horrible and he was sure that he was going to have to take a lot of showers to get the smell off of him.

Analyzing the area with his detective vision, the sidekick was trying to encounter a signal that a detonator would emit. Luckily, Robin catches something from afar. There it is. Looking up to establish a location, Robin noticed that the main bomb was located under an apartment. I'm pretty sure that it's the apartment of the woman, Harvey is seeing. The boy with messy hair concluded. Overkill, is a understatement with Blackmask.

After sprinting towards the deadly object. Robin checked the device, it was a pretty elaborated bomb compared to the rest, which were more simplistic. Okay, remember the bomb disarming lessons. Batman taught him the basics but he never disarmed one himself.

Questions and Answers:

God fucking damn it why are your stories so good?! O_O

I'm exited to see what will happen with Barbara and Alan even though she hasn't been introduced yet.

I think that at this point the only stories I haven't read from you are in the fandoms that I don't know at all, like silent Hill and zelda, and the ASOIAF one since I don't like harems in that fandom and I've seen it's premise too much at this point.

thank you for all the amazing stories!

They will meet pretty soon,so don't worry about it. Any other questions, you can message me about it and I'm glad you like my stories.

N I thought this was forgotten. Still want to see if there's sex here. N hopefully a harem. Update soon.

Like I said, Alan is a mash up of every single Robin and Superboy. That includes the girls that they hook up with.So your hopes are correct.{If my story is M-rated then there will be sex.}
