Welcome everyone, to the newest update of Pokémon Takeover: Game Genie! We got another battle out of the way last time, and some childhood memories from our friend, Brendan. But….Where the heck is Latias? Let's find out!
Lucas: (Pops out from under the screen) Not sure what keeps you guys coming back…But hey, we appreciate it regardless…it's pity, isn't it? (Infernape appears and punches the screen)
"Are you sure that you didn't see anything," May asked the nurse.
The new nurse shook her head, "I've been here all day. I would've noticed something."
Calem shook his head, "Well that's not helpful."
The nurse was annoyed, "How rude," she thought.
Brendan and Shauna came back from opposite sides of the center.
Shauna held her head down, "I couldn't find anything. Not even any info."
"Even if people knew, I doubt they'd say anything," Brendan spoke. "It's a Legendary; not everyone's gonna wanna help us."
Shauna started to get worried, "What if we don't find her? I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if-"
Calem put a hand on my shoulder, Shauna was startled and looked up at him.
"We're gonna find her," Calem reassured. "You have my word."
Shauna relaxed for a moment, "Calem…thank you!" she smiled.
Brendan laughed, "Yeah, wouldn't be the first time we've had to find a lost Pokémon: Calem remember when we had to find those Jigglypuff when we were younger?"
Calem, "Yeah, that was quite the adventure." He stayed quite for a few more seconds until everyone got confused.
"What are you doing," May and Brendan asked.
Calem turned to them, "What are you talking about?"
Shauna spoke up, "Well, around this time we figure you would tell us some story about what happened with the Jigglypuff."
Calem shook his head, "Why would I do that? It's not like you guys can see my past in visual form anyway."
Brendan facepalmed, "Sometimes I feel like he forgets he's in a fanfic."
Lucas' Room
Lucas had just left his room with a Repel in his hand; he soon sprayed it on and began to monologue.
"My name is Lucas. I'm an assistant to the Pokémon Professor, Rowan. Out of the group of my three best friends, I'm not exactly the strongest. But, I provide when I can. For some reason, I have a tough time dealing with people; which is weird considering how nice I try to be."
He began to walk down the hall, and spoke to the girl walking past him: "Excuse me, even though you're only an extra character, have you seen a Latias anywhere?"
The girl slapped Lucas in the face and stormed off, "Ow!" he exclaimed.
"I just don't understand," Lucas said, oblivious to how he handled that situation.
Without paying attention, Lucas bumped into someone. They both fell to the ground.
"S-Sorry," Lucas said. He looked up and saw the person that he knocked down was Dawn.
Both froze at the sight of each other. They stared at each other for a few awkward seconds (Although, it felt a lot longer than that.)
"And that's my ex….yeah things have been rough," Lucas continued.
"H-Hi," Dawn said.
"H-Hey," Lucas said while standing up. He tried to offer Dawn a hand, but she got up on her own.
"How are you," Lucas asked.
"Fine," she responded quietly.
"L-Look, even after everything, I'm still gonna find Latias for you," Lucas said.
Dawn froze even more and blushed.
"I mean I…..argh," he said running past her.
"You'll see! I promise!" he yelled.
Dawn held her head down "We don't even have any leads; don't think that's a promise you can keep, Lucas."
Cue Battle Intro (youtube watch?v=bDokwN3bkr0) (For music)
Lucas and Calem stand back to back; they begin to slide apart into the background. Meanwhile Wally and Ash cheer on Pikachu and Gallade, who are battling; using Iron Tail and Psycho Cut, respectively. Finally Brendan stands behind Swampert and activates his Mega Bracelet; there's a bright flash.
The guys, including Ash speak:
Chapter 33:
When You Look For Something, You Find Everything Except What You're Looking For
Lucas and Brendan continued to look around the island for the missing Latias. They checked the police station, the coliseum, they even checked Brendan's room; shockingly, they found nothing there.
Next, they headed to Clemont's room.
"Are you sure we should be doing this? He's not even here," Lucas said.
"If there was a Legendary here, he would definitely wanna know," Brendan replied.
Lucas looked under the bed in the room, "Gotta say, I really admired you telling us that story. You were really brave."
Brendan brushed it off, "I was just saying what was in the script."
Lucas continued, "C'mon, man. I'm serious; a lot of people wouldn't have the guts to tell that story."
Brendan sighed, "Yeah…thanks…what's this?" Brendan found a spray bottle under a pile of clothes and sprayed it onto Lucas.
Suddenly Lucas' arm grew to twice the size of his body. "AH!" Brendan yelped.
"So that's what that does," Lucas said admiring his arm.
"YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS," Brendan said.
"I mean I've invented things like this before," Lucas shrugged. "In fact…this might be mine."
Brendan sprayed Lucas' arm again; returning it to normal.
"Why would you make stuff like this," Brendan asked.
"I'm the assistant to a Pokémon Professor, Brendan. Safe to say, I'm gonna get bored," Lucas shrugged.
"I'd say I'm surprised, but I've known you for too long," Brendan said continuing his search.
Lucas laughed, "Yep for *bleep* years now!"
Brendan groaned, "God damn it, I hate not knowing our ages."
With Tierno and Trevor
There was a Noir setting. Trevor and Tierno were in the police costumes as they stared at Serena (Who just happened to be tied to a chair).
"WHERE WERE YOU AT THE DAY AND TIME OF THE KIDNAPPING," Tierno yelled.
"I was at the tournament battle…with you guys! You were with me," Serena said.
"Is that your alibi," Trevor said.
"YES!" Serena yelled, scaring the two.
She sighed, "Do you guys think Team Rocket could be behind this?"
"No way," Trevor scoffed. "They're not competent enough."
"That's a little harsh," Tierno said. "Okay, Trevor. You can let her go." Trevor began to undo the rope that was around Serena's arms. Suddenly, a ringing sound occurred. Trevor pulled out his PDA and spoke:
"Yeah…Okay, we're on our way."
"What is it," Tierno asked.
"Apparently, Calem and Shauna found a clue," Trevor answered happily.
"Alright, let's go!" Tierno said as he and Trevor ran out of the room; leaving Serena in the chair.
"Hey! Untie me first," she yelled at the open doorway. As she yelled, she saw Brendan walk past the door.
"Brendan, wait! Untie me," Serena yelled. Brendan stopped and walked into the room. He looked around at the setting with a confused look.
"The knot should be loose," she confirmed. Brendan walked behind her and examined the knot; he then promptly tightened the rope causing her to yelp. He then slapped her shoulder and ran off; shutting the door behind him.
"BRENDAN, YOU JERK," Serena yelled from the room.
Brendan turned to the camera and spoke, "What? I haven't developed THAT much."
With Calem and Shauna
Calem and Shauna had examined the room multiple times and had finally found a clue. May, Lucas, Bonnie, and Brendan had shown up to hear the news.
"Well, we've been looking around for a while, and we noticed something," Shauna said.
Calem nodded, "Yeah. The glass wasn't broken and there was no sign of a struggle…"
"And…." May asked.
"That's it," Calem said.
"THAT CAN'T BE IT," the others yelled.
Shauna sighed, "No, they're right. Basically, it means that whoever took Latias didn't do so in any regular break in. There's even a chance that Latias left on its own."
"Without even a 'thank you', that's kinda rude," Brendan joked.
Lucas snickered, "I would've at least left a fruit basket."
Calem responded, "What if she was allergic?"
Lucas shrugged, "Then I'd leave the DVD 'Fruits Basket'."
"You guys are totally the worst to work with," May said annoyed. "I'd hate to be stuck in a cubicle with you."
"That's actually how we met," Calem said.
"It was the best month of my life," Lucas said.
Brendan sighed, "It was lovely."
Shauna groaned, "Can you guys focus?"
"Sorry," the boys replied.
"Anyways, that means whatever we're dealing with could be something dangerous," Calem continued.
"We could use some help," Lucas said. "We could call Steven-"
"Nope, he'll be too busy for something like this," Calem said.
"Dude, I think he'd help with an emergency like this," Brendan said.
"We could call the rangers, they could help," Shauna said.
"That's an idea! I could call Tommy, Kimberly, Rocky-" Brendan started.
"Brendan….'Pokémon Rangers'," Lucas said groaning.
Brendan sighed and walked off, "Well that's not nearly as interesting."
"We should keep looking," May said as she and Shauna ran out of the center.
Calem looked over at Lucas, "Was…Was he really gonna call them-"
"You forget how many people we know," Lucas answered.
To Wally
"Are you sure that we should be here? Lucas would hate if we were in here," Wally reiterated.
Lisia put a finger to his lips, "Babe, you worry too much." She then continued to rifle threw Lucas' drawers and picked up a picture.
The picture was of the four boys: Calem and Brendan were glaring at each other, while Lucas (smiling at the camera) had his arms around the two boys' shoulders. Wally was trying to break up the fight.
Lisia laughed, "Nice picture!"
Wally held it, "Oh yeah! This was when we first met up again after starting our journeys."
"You guys haven't changed a bit," Lisia giggled.
Wally nodded, "I mean it's been a few years; but I guess you're not wrong."
"Anyways, let's get a light on so we can see easier," Lisia suggested. She flipped one of the switches by the door.
"Oh crap!" Wally yelped as he tried to stop her. Suddenly, the room began to shake and there was a bright flash. Wally was able to cover Lisia's eyes just in time, but was unable to do so to himself.
"AAAAAHH," he yelled.
"Wally, what's wrong?" Lisia asked with extreme concern.
When the light cleared, the clothes, books, and pictures were replaced with beakers, test tubes, a ray of some kind, and a glass container holding a person.
"EIGHHHH," Lisia screeched. "WHAT IS THIS PLACE?!"
Wally was still trying to find his balance due to being blinded and stumbled as his words slurred.
"ecnahc eht dah I nehw gig siht tiuq ev'dluohs I," Wally spoke as he tried to make sense of his words.
"Are you even speaking English," Lisia asked. Wally shook his head violently and regained his composure.
Lisia lightly slapped his face, "Snap out of it!"
Wally yelped, "Ow! I already recovered!"
"S-Sorry," she said. "But what the hell is this place?"
Wally sighed, "This is Lucas' lab."
Lisia shook her head, "You can't just say that like it's a normal thing!"
Wally walked around the 'lab' and tried to find anything that would help them in their search.
"Let's see: Robot Gene, Ray Gun, barely functioning clone-" Wally examined.
"Wait: Ray Gun?" Lisia said.
"So far nothing. Oh well; we should report back to everyone else," Wally groaned disappointedly.
"Ray Gun?" Lisia asked again with even more confusion.
"C'mon let's go," Wally said before leaving the room.
Lisia stood still for a moment, "…..RAY GUN?!"
A Few Hours Later
Shauna was lying against the wall of the Poké Mart; defeated. They had no leads, no evidence, and no more energy.
"I just can't believe it..we had so many people looking for her and we still can't find any info about Latias," she said to herself.
The sun was beginning to set as she saw a group of children playing with a Dragonite. They seemed happy; which unfortunately, put her at more of a depressed state. She suddenly felt an elbow on her shoulder; she turned to see Lucas leaning on her and Calem standing next to him.
"Hey, guys," she responded sadly.
"I know it sucks that we haven't found any leads yet-" Lucas started.
"My lead about no forced entry was good," Calem interjected.
"Yeah huh," Shauna and Lucas responded.
Lucas continued, "But come on: there's no way we can give up now! I mean; we haven't even been searching that long."
Shauna huffed, "I don't know guys…Sometimes I wonder if it's even worth it."
Lucas' face saddened, "Shauna-"
"That's really what you think, huh? That it's just time to give up," Calem interjected.
"What are you talking about," the two asked.
"Latias could be hurt or something. If we gave up, no matter what happens, we're always gonna be thinking," Calem scolded; somewhat fairly.
He continued, "Did Steven give up? Did the Pokémon Rangers give up?-"
Lucas sighed, "Here we go…"
Shauna turned to him, "What?"
Lucas chuckled annoyingly, "You'll see…"
Sometime Later
"….Did we give up coming here," Calem continued. By this point, Lucas and Shauna had fallen asleep. Lucas had a scruffy beard, while Shauna's hair was out of her signature pigtails and down to her lower back.
"DID SHIKAMARU GIVE UP," Calem finally stated.
Lucas shot up, "Yeah, against Temari. And so did his son!"
Calem, "Just go out and find her!"
"FINE! I will," Lucas said running off.
Calem then chuckled to himself, "That was too easy." He then looked towards Shauna who had her head down. He then squatted and pet her head; surprising her.
"I promised you I'd find her. No way, I'm failing at that," he confirmed.
Shauna turned her head away, "C-Calem…why…why are you so nice to me?"
Calem was confused, "What do you mean?"
Shauna huffed, "I mean, with Lucas and Brendan, you're pretty standoffish. Everyone else is more or less the same, but…you try so hard to help. Even if it doesn't always work, you still try for me….is there a reason for that?"
Calem thought for a moment, "I doubt that…she can't be right about that…Although, I guess I have been super dedicated to finding Latias…I wonder why."
Calem spoke, "Honestly…I have no idea!" he said uncharacteristically happy.
With Dawn
Dawn was walking through the island trying her best to calm herself down from all of the commotion.
"We have to find her somehow," she said to herself. After walking for a bit, she stopped and remembered Lucas' promise.
Dawn frowned, "He broke up with me…but he still wants to help…he's such a nice guy…"
Flashback
Lucas and Dawn are walking through the town; the two are holding hands. Suddenly, Lucas saw an old woman stuck on another side of the road.
Seeing this, Lucas ran over through traffic (almost getting hit four times) and helped the woman across.
Dawn sighed at first with stress, but then a smile formed on her face.
Flashback Ends
"Even after everything, he's still the nicest guy I know. But even I don't think he's smart enough to find her," Dawn said to herself.
"I have an idea," someone said grabbing her hand.
Startled, Dawn turned around and saw Lucas. "AH! Don't scare me like that!"
Lucas continued, ignoring her, "Lemme ask you this! How would we see something that was in the past?"
Dawn, while still startled, thought for a moment, and snapped her fingers.
"Clemont's cameras," they both exclaimed.
A Few Minutes Later
Lucas began scrolling through the footage, trying to find any sources.
Dawn spoke up, "Anything you find?"
Lucas sighed, "Well nothing from when you asked me 10 seconds ago. Besides seeing all the places in the Center where Tierno sleeps; nothing. Just be patient."
After getting impatient, Dawn hit the rewind button on the remote; causing the video to speed up in reverse.
"What are you doing," Lucas asked annoyed.
"It's going too slow," she snapped.
Lucas grabbed the remote from her as the two fought over the remote.
Lucas shouted, "Damn it, Dawn!"
"Just gimme," she yelled back at him.
Suddenly the two hit the rewind button again; causing the speed to increase. Both of their faces went pale.
"Did we break it," Dawn asked.
Lucas responded, "No. We just gotta do-" he hit the fast forward button. Almost immediately, the video resumed normally.
Both sighed, "That was a relief." As they continued watching the video, they noticed something.
"Wait a minute," Dawn said. She soon noticed that Brendan, May, and Wally were in the frame. Wally was unconscious.
"Is this the Holiday party," Dawn tilted her head.
"Uh oh," Lucas said. The two saw Brendan and May speaking to each other, turn away from each other, and then May pulling Brendan in for a kiss.
"AAAAHH!" Dawn yelped.
"That's not good," Lucas said dejectedly.
Dawn immediately grabbed his shirt and began shaking him, "Did you-They just-How long-"
Lucas felt like he was gonna puke, "Please stop shaking me!"
"Wait…did you know," she turned with her eyes becoming red.
"EIGH! I only learned a few days ago," Lucas panicked.
"Dude! Why didn't you tell me?" Dawn asked.
"Cause I learned the day we broke up. Brendan felt bad for me, so we all took turns telling each other our embarrassing moments!" Lucas finished with fear in his voice.
Dawn let him go as he fell, "Oh…right…sorry…" With frustration, she slammed her fist on the fast forward button.
As Lucas, dusted himself off, there was a silence. Neither knew the right thing to say. But Dawn decided to address the Audino in the room (yeah, I know, shut up!)
"We're still friends right," she asked. To be honest, she was rather terrified of the answer-
"I sure hope so," Lucas said with a smile. This shocked Dawn, almost to the point that her heart wanted to explode. She saw Lucas still on the ground and offered a hand to him. To her happiness, he took it and stood up.
Almost immediately, Lucas noticed that the video was still fast forwarding. "Wait a minute," he said.
He then saw that there was a there were two people who were carrying out Latias from the Pokémon Center.
"Who is it," Dawn asked with excitement. Lucas then hit a few buttons to make the cameras zoom in and the thermal sensors activated.
"Hm," he said studying them. As he began to recognize-
"Kai and Jayden?" he exclaimed.
Dawn shook her head, "That can't be right. Why would they do that?"
"I'm starting to think they may not be as nice as we thought. C'mon we gotta tell-"
Lucas then immediately collapsed.
"AH! What happened," Dawn said, terrified.
"Relax," Brendan said from afar. He got closer and examined his unconscious friend.
He continued, "He gets like this whenever he's working a lot. Heck after making our PokéDex, he slept for four full days. What's happening anyway?"
Dawn then explained what happened with Latias.
Brendan groaned, "I hate to say I told you so, but we could've-"
Dawn snapped, "Brendan, we are not sending Sableye after them!"
"Ugh, fine. But anyways, it's getting late," he said.
Dawn tilted her head, "What do you mean?"
Brendan chuckled, "From the tournament match to losing Latias, this has all been one day. I know; feels like we've been here for MONTHS. I know you guys are upset, but we'll get nowhere else tonight: get some rest and we'll keep searching in the morning."
Dawn sighed dejectedly, "I hate when you're right."
Brendan shrugged, "Plus, Lucas and Calem have a match tomorrow."
"Huh, against who," Dawn asked.
Brendan walked away, waving his arm while turned, "Don't ya know?"
Dawn groaned at her friend's unhelpfulness. She turned to Lucas who was still asleep.
After a few moments, she stood up and went towards a closet in the Center, grabbing a blanket and placing it on him, as he continued to sleep. She finally turned, towards her room before stopping and returning to Lucas, and pecking him on the cheek.
"Thanks for today, Lucas."
