A yellow eyed demon. One of the worst and most powerful demons in existence. Second only to the devil in terms of power and rank.

Strengths, all of them.

Weaknesses, none that she knew of.

She had nothing on her whatsoever, not even something she could use to hit him with, not that that would do anything to him. The only possible weapon was the mop that he had been using but it's in his hands and demons are unnaturally strong so she wouldn't be able to take it from him.

"I know what you're thinking right now, you're thinking about weapons, you're thinking about how to fight back, how to destroy me." the demon told her conversationally. "But you also know there's no point, there's nothing you can do and anything you can do, like run away?" he grinned at her, his yellow eyes sparkling in the light. "Means leaving your Sammy alone and even more vulnerable."

"So, keep sitting, just listen, I'm not here to attack you or hurt you or Sammy." he continued, patting the bench. "I'm just here to talk."

Mary felt like she couldn't breathe, could barely breathe. She kept her gaze forward, watching him from the corner of her eyes.

The demon sighed. "I get that you're a hunter and all that, so you automatically hate me, but considering everything, including the fact that both you and that boy of yours were debating to summon a," he wrinkled his nose. "A lowly red eyed demon, I'd think you'd be a bit happier discussing things with me."

"We decided not to do it." Mary managed to get out, swallowing hard. "We're not doing any demon deals."

The demon hummed at that. "If that was true, I wouldn't be here." he said simply. "Cause I was drawn to your soul and how loud it was praying for help." he leaned in a bit more, eyes narrowing slightly as he stared at Sammy, eyes flickering to a corner of the room. "For good reason too."

Mary breathed out slowly and steadily, trying to keep her composure. "I'm not making a demon deal." she said stiffly. "You can't have my soul."

"I don't want your soul."

Mary blinked at that and finally turned her head to look at him. "What?"

"I don't want your soul." the demon repeated. "Souls, such a messy business, not to mention all the paperwork that's required when it comes to making a deal with souls. I prefer to do something else."

It was a trap, it had to be a trap, there was no other possibility other than this was a trap.

Mary's thoughts raced as she tried to read between the lines, trying to push back the panic of the whole scene; of the high ranking demon, of Sammy, of everything.

"You can't have my son's soul." Mary told him, her hands gripping one another tightly.

"I just told you I don't want to deal with souls, that includes him."

"Then what do you want?" Mary half snapped at him, turning to look at him completely. "Stop jerking me around, you want something because I know you're not doing this out of the goodness of your heart. What do you want?"

The demon just looked at her, amused. "I just need to spend, oh, thirty seconds alone with the strapping young kid." he told her. "Not gonna hurt him, not gonna force a deal on him. Thirty seconds, that's it."

"And what exactly are you going to do in those thirty seconds?" Mary pressed, not about to just give in.

The demon winked at her. "That's part of the deal," he said. "You don't ask, I don't tell, and most of all, you don't interrupt in those thirty seconds."

Mary swallowed hard. "And you just expect me to agree to those terms without knowing what you're planning to do?" she asked. "How stupid do you think I am?"

"I don't think you're stupid, not at all." the demon assured her, the praise made her skin crawl. "I just think you're desperate."

Well...he wasn't wrong about that part.

The demon hummed again as he turned towards Sammy, leaning back against the bench, lightly tossing the handle of the mop from one hand to the other. "Not gonna lie, I've been watching you for a while Mary Campbell." he told her, she stiffened when he said her name. "You were a good hunter, of good stock and breeding, but then you decided to settle down, have the children." he nodded at Sammy. "And the other one."

"Leave him out of this." Mary said, her voice surprisingly steady. "Leave him alone."

"I'm not interested in the older one, just Sammy." the demon told her. "But back to the matter at hand, the deal between you and me."

"I never agreed to make a deal with you."

"But you're thinking about it." the demon said, a touch smugly. "So what do you say Mary? Just thirty seconds, at the most, interrupted with Sammy and he'll live nice and healthy."

"But what happens during those thirty seconds?" Mary demanded. "I want to know what I'm agreeing to."

"All I'll tell you is that I'm not going to hurt him, I'm not taking him to Hell, no deal with his soul." the demon said counting on his fingers. "And that's all I'll tell you."

"You might think you're telling me enough, but you're not." Mary told him. "You still want thirty uninterrupted seconds with my son and you're planning to do something, and I want to know what."

"I can't give up all my secrets, now can I?" the demon asked with a wink. ""That's all you're getting and," he glanced at Sammy once again. "I'd make a choice soon."

"What do you mean by that?"

The demon reached out and pressed his fingers to her temple, she shuddered as she felt ice spread through her entire body from the touch. He gently pushed her head back towards Sammy, feeling as if something was crawling up inside her to her eyes.

Her stomach dropped to the floor, there was a woman in a suit looking down at Sammy in the incubator who then glanced at her watch, before suddenly realizing that Mary was staring right at her, easily meeting her gaze.

"Get away from him!" Mary snarled, jumping to her feet. The moment the demon's fingers left her temple, the woman disappeared and she froze, looking around. "Who was that?"

"A reaper." the demon said simply. "Sammy boy is dying and as with all humans, there's a reaper right there at the ready to guide his soul off to the great beyond." He rolled his eyes. "Reapers are an annoying bunch I'll admit, but they do their job."

He reached out and took her arm, tugging her back until she was sitting on the bench with him again.

"So there you have it, a reaper all the ready to do its job and reap the soul." the demon told her. "Verses the demon that is sitting next to you and willing to make a deal with you for no soul, no damnation, just thirty seconds or less of uninterrupted time with Sammy." he almost tenderly pushed a lock of her hair behind her ear. "And the choice is yours."

"So, Mary." he leaned back and looked at her, grinning when she looked back at him.

"What's it going to be?"
