Ok, ok, ok, I know its been an eternity since I last updated. Some of you might not even follow this story anymore, but I'm determined to finish it! Hope you enjoy. Reminder: time jump.

I try to focus on my breathing, ignoring the burning in my arms and sides. Ever since Four and Jim helped me bring the Dauntless equipment to my small place where they store the hay, I've been sharpening my Dauntless skills.

"Abby," a voice calls, "where are you? Joanna said you were here."

I recognize the voice as Mary. Silently groaning, I push off of the ground. I walk over to the railing, looking down to the mother's eyes.

"What's up?" I ask, trying not to show my slight annoyance. The baby has been moving a lot for only seven months.

Mary looks up, a slight smile on her face. She holds up a paper bag. "You forgot your lunch. After all you're still eating for two."

A feel a smile crawl onto my face. It's nice of Mary to pack our lunches. I guess she has free time, due to Lilly being at school.

"Thanks," I call down. I slowly make my way over to the ladder. "I'll be down in a second."
Grabbing the sides of the ladder, I slide down the ladder. I land softly on the floor.

Mary hands me the paper bag. "So, what do you do up there, anyway?"

I open the bag, answering "Not much. Just old habits." I glance down to see fruit for my lunch. I nod to Mary, thanking her.

Mary nods back, "Well, I'm glad you've adjusted here. Lilly is coming here, after school. Please take her straight home. I'll see you later."

I give her a thumbs up. With that, I get back to work.

This is stupid, I think as I look at the guys around the room. There is no way I'm going to be able to get past these guys.

Ever since Lilly got out of school, people have been arriving at the barn. There are too many in this one barn. I can't seem to find her.
I call to her, "Lilly! Where are you?"

No answer.

Finally, I sigh. Climbing on top of a tractor I shout, "Everyone!" A few people turn to me. "Hey!" Everyone turns to me. "I'm looking for Lilly. Has anyone seen her?"

A young lady raises her hand. "I saw her go up there," she points to the hay loft. "Said to tell Abby she would be there."

I growl as I climb off the tractor. "I'm Abby. I've been worried sick, looking for her."

People part as I move to the ladder. I start to climb. When I reach the top, I turn to the crowd gathered, nodding my head. I hear sighs of relief flood the barn as I tangle a small girl in my arms.

"I'm sorry, Abby." Lilly cries. "I didn't mean to scare you."

I chuckle as I run a hand down her hair, lifting her chin to face me. "It's okay. I couldn't find you. I panicked. Do you know what your mother would do if she found out that I momentarily lost you?"

Lilly looks at the ground, shaking her head. "Yell at you or worst? I'm guessing."

I lean down while lifting her chin. "That's correct. Now, let's go home."

I take her small hand, when she tugs on it. "Abby?" Her small voice asks innocently, "What is all of this?" She gestures to my Dauntless equipment.

A sad smile comes to my face. "This is what I did in Dauntless. A friend helped me bring it up here."

Lilly hands me a knife. "What do you do with this?"

I take the knife. The cool metal touching me skin makes me smile. "I'll show you."

I toss the knife in the air, flipping it. When I catch it by the blade, I hear a slight gasp coming from the small girl next to me.

Chuckling, I focus on the target in front of me. Which happens to be a wooden post.
I breath in, bringing my arm back, keeping an eye on the center. I breath out, throwing the knife. I hear the slap on metal against wood.
The knife went through the post until only the handle was sticking out.

Lilly stares at me with wonder.

"Woah!" She exclaims. "That's awesome!"
Thanking her, I go to the post. To yank out the knife. Once I have it out, I put it back in my pile of Dauntless equipment.

"Come on, let's go get some supper."

Lilly bounces up and down while she waits for me at the bottom of the ladder. I can't move as fast as I wish I could, but honestly even if I could, I don't think I could keep up with Lilly.

As we make our way to Mary's place, my mind is brought back to the life growing inside of me. Jim knows about the baby, but a few weeks ago he disappeared.

Just like Amar all over again.

The thought tears open an old wound.

My mind is too busy with that painful thought to find that when my mind comes back to the present I'm washing dishes. I must have gone through the motions with supper.

"You're thinking about him again… Aren't you?" Mary asks from behind me. I turn to find her leaning against the counter top.

Angrily I throw the rag into the sink. "Yes. Both men that I have had feelings for, who just so happen to look a like, left me." I run a damp hand through my hair. "Mary, how am I supposed to raise this kid? I'm going back to Dauntless in a few weeks. Sure, I'm looking forward to seeing Four, but two short months go by and boom! I have a baby I have to care for."

Mary considers this. "Your friend, Four, he seems like a great guy. Explain the situation to him and I'm sure he will help."

I mumble some not-so-nice things about the situation. What if this child, my child, misses a huge section of their life without a father? Can I force Four to help me raise them?

"I leave on Choosing Day, Mary"

Suddenly a young scream cuts through the quiet house. "You're leaving?!"

Mary and I lock eyes with each other. Neither of us told Lilly the full story, but I guess we probably should.

Carefully, I lower myself to the chair near me. "Come here doodle bug." Lilly's eyes start to sparkle with tears. "Do you remember a few months ago? I told you about my home?"

The small girl nods her head. I pull the child against me. "I don't want you to go."

"I know sweetie." I chuckle. "Maybe I'll come visit you after a while."

Lilly's eye brighten with joy. Over her head I see Mary's brow furrow. I shouldn't lie to her, but what if I do come back? That wouldn't be so bad.

I realize that I haven't found the answer to a very important question. One that I should probably find out very very soon.

I pull away from Lilly to walk over to Mary. "Do you, by chance, happen to know when Choosing Day is?"

With years in her eyes now, Mary looks at me with so much love and pain. "Next week. Abby, you leave next week."

As her words hit me, I realize that things around here are about to change… for better or for worse… I'm going home.

Tada! A week from now is Choosing Day. This will bring us to the beginning of the Divergent Trilogy and take us all the way through to the end of the series. Maybe even beyond... who knows?

*IMPORTANT* If you dont hear from me in a few days, a week at the most, feel free to PM me and ask when the next chapter will be up. Not being ugly about it, but honestly ask. It will keep me accountable and let me know that people are actually read my story.

Ok, that's all for now. Thank you for sticking with me!
