New Arrival

Mercedes was at a rehearsal for a charity event for the Bear Cubs and although Sam was totally against her performing so close to her due date, it wasn't a big event, and she was just singing two songs while sitting, so she didn't think it was a big deal. She was sitting there as the band was warming up, and Shelly came over and sat next to her. "I can't believe that you are doing this?"

Mercedes rolled her eyes, "Come on Shell, not you too. I had to go through this with Sam all week. I can't deal with it from you too."

Shelly sighed, "Well, then if both of us are saying it, maybe you should listen to us, and not do it. The stress alone could be too much… Plus, you want to take charge of this event too. You shouldn't even be here. You should be home resting. It's where you belong now so late in your pregnancy." She was so concerned about her friend, and all she wanted was her to be healthy, and the baby as well.

"I know your concerns, Shell, and I appreciate it, but I'm fine." Mercedes tried to assure her, "I'm not due for another three weeks, and it's not stressful I'm getting a room here tonight, so if I get tired, I can just go upstairs and lay down." She patted her hand, "I'm taking all the precautions that I need, and I even agreed to wear flats for Sam."

As much as Shelly wanted to fight her on this, she knew it was a losing battle, and she was not going to waste her breath. "Can you at least let me do all the major work tonight, and all you focus on is singing?"

Mercedes had no problem with that, "I will definitely let you handle all that, and I will sing, and probably head upstairs after that." She put her hand on her stomach, and started rubbing it, she had been feeling a little off since morning, but she figured it was gas because it would come and go so quickly. She got up, as the music director let her know that they were ready for now. She turned to Shelly, "Are you going to stay for rehearsal?"

Shelly shook her head, "Nah, I have work to do, I have to make sure the caterer has everything we asked for, and oversee the decorations. But I'm sure you will be amazing."

Mercedes smiled, "Thanks Shell, I'll see you later." She went on the stage, to begin rehearsal. To no one's surprise, it went off without a hitch.

Meanwhile upstairs in their suite

"I tried to stop her, but of course you know your daughter, she never listens to me when she thinks she's fine." Sam was pacing back and forth on the phone with Maxine. "The best I could get was her not wearing heels."

Maxine rolled her eyes, "That wife of yours is so stubborn."

"I know! And I understand that she was a last-minute fill-in because the act they had canceled, but she is ready to pop any minute, and she is putting her and the baby at risk, but she doesn't see it, because she thinks because she is sitting down, and singing two songs, that she will be fine. But I didn't even want her to come to the event."

"She shouldn't be there!" Marvin shouted from the background.

"That's what Sam just said baby," Maxine said.

"And he's right!" He said again, obviously upset about all this.

"Trust me Mama J and Pop Jones, I didn't want her here either, and I thought I convinced her not to come until they told her that the act canceled. Then nothing I said mattered anymore." Sam sighed and ran his fingers through his head, "I don't know what to do."

Maxine wished she had answers for Sam, but she knew the more he argued with Mercedes, the more stubborn she was going to get. When it came to her music, and lately the Bear Cubs, there was no getting through to her, when she put her mind to something. "Sam, all I can tell you is to stick close to her tonight and make sure she is okay. If you see anything out the ordinary, then you get her out of there. Take her down there close to her set, and then back upstairs right afterward."

Sam nodded as if they could see him, "That was the plan, but I will be right there on the side of the stage, and make sure she goes right back upstairs after she is done."

"I trust you Sam to take care of her." Maxine said softly, "I wish we could be there, but we will see you in a few weeks."

"I know… I'm sure we'll be alright. I'm being a little cautious. That's all." Sam said, trying to assure her, "And I know Mercedes is looking forward to seeing you both." He looked at the time, "I have to go, Mercedes should be done with rehearsal, so I am going to go down and get her."

"Alright Sam, we will see you guys later, keep taking care of our baby girl." Maxine smiled, feeling better about everything.

"See you guys." Sam hung up the phone and made his way to the door, but as soon as he opened it, he saw Mercedes pulling out her key, "Oh, there you are."

Mercedes jumped when the door swung open, "You going somewhere?" She smirked, walking past him, knowing he was coming to get her. "You are so predictable Sam Evans, I told you I would come right back after rehearsal." She toed off her shoes, and sat on the bed, "Did you think that I would stay down there, and try to do more work?"

Sam closed the door, walked over to the bed, and sat next to Mercedes, lifting her leg onto his lap, and started massaging her feet, "I don't know what you would try to do anymore Cedes. You don't listen to me..."

Mercedes would usually fight with him, but he was massaging her feet, and it felt so good, she didn't want him to stop. "I listen to you Sam, I just refuse to let you keep me locked up. I am not helpless, and the Bear Cubs needed me. I mean, I am only doing this because you asked me to be a part of the group, now that I am liking it, you want to sit me down...no I am not going to do that." She shook her head, "It's just…"

"Two songs, I know Cedes, you have said that over and over again, but it still hasn't made me feel better about it." Sam sighed and continued massaging her feet. "I just want you to be as comfortable as possible these last few weeks."

She sighed, she knew Sam was only looking out for her, and she appreciated it, but this was just one last show, before not performing for a long time. "It's just two songs, Sam."

"Not changing how I feel, Cedes." Sam stated calmly.

They decided not to talk about it any further, because they both realized they were going around in circles, and it wasn't going to change anything. She leaned back and let out a wince, and he sat up, "What is it? Are you in pain? Do we have to go to the hospital?"

Mercedes sighed and shook her head, "Sam, calm down, it's just gas, Will you please relax a little. I have little aches and pains all the time, because I have a baby, sitting on my bladder, and my back hurts. So you can't freak out over every little noise or wince I make."

He looked over at her, not sure if he was fully convinced, If this was a month ago, he would probably take her word for it, but they were so close to the due date, that he was very aware of everything, and with all the books he's read, he knew he had to stay aware. "You sure it's just gas?"

She rolled her eyes, "Yes Sam, just gas, as a matter of fact, I need to go to the bathroom." She slowly stood up and waddled to the bathroom.

Sam smiled, he always loved watching her waddle, it was the cutest thing in the world to him, "You still look cute waddling babe."

"Shut up Sam!" She screamed out as she went to the bathroom. She closed the door, and immediately grabbed her stomach, "Oh baby girl, you need to relax in there, I have a show to do tonight, and I can't have daddy trying to cancel because you won't stop moving around in there." She went to use the bathroom, and like always the pain stopped. "Thank you baby girl, mommy just needs to get through tonight." She made her way out of the bathroom and laid down and for a while until showtime.

That evening rolled around, and Mercedes was in her suite with Sam, getting the last of her makeup done. She smiled when she saw the finished product, "Girl, you know you beat this face tonight. I look amazing, I have to say." She looked behind her and saw Sam walking out, looking like he just stepped out of GQ Magazine. "But not as amazing as my sexy ass husband, look at you baby."

Sam smiled and did a turn for her, "I had to look as good as my sexy wife," He looked her up and down, "You look amazing, Cedes, your makeup is flawless."

Gigi smiled, "Yes she does, I did the damn thing didn't I."

Mercedes laughed, "Yes you did boo, and I am so glad that you were able to come out here on such short notice."

Gigi waved her hand, "You know I got you boo, you are my girl, and I will always make time for you." She started packing up her makeup, "Now I am going to get going, you guys have a great time tonight." She finished putting all her things away and headed out.

Mercedes got up and went to slip on her dress, "Sam, can you zip me up please?"

"Sure thing." He walked over to Mercedes and zipped her dress, and kissed her neck, "You look so beautiful Cedes, do you feel alright?"

She rolled her eyes, "Yes, Sam, I feel fine." She walked over to get her shoes, "Are you going to ask me that all night?"

He shrugged his shoulders, "I sure am, until you are back up here in bed, and safe." He wasn't going to try to act like he wasn't going to do that. He was worried about her, and he didn't want her to do this in the first place, but if she was going to do it, then he was going to constantly make sure she was okay.

She wasn't going to fight him on this, he was just as stubborn as she was, so there was no use. "Fine Sam." She sighed and slipped her shoes on, and then grabbed her necklace, "Can you put this on for me?"

He helped her with her necklace then her bracelet, once she was completely dressed, he grabbed her wrap, and purse, "Come on, let's get you down there to perform your two songs, so you can get back here." He smirked knowing she was going to be very agitated with him.

They headed down to the ballroom, and right before they made it inside, Mercedes stopped and grabbed her stomach, "Good lord girl….you are kicking mommy way too hard right now."

Sam took her hand, "Mercedes, do we need to go to the hospital?" He was ready to go right then, not caring about this event or anything else.

Mercedes shook her head, "No...no I'm fine, just this daughter of yours is giving me a hard time, kicking me. I just need to breathe. Take me in so I can sit please."

He reluctantly walked inside and helped her to a seat backstage, and knelt down in front of her, "Do you want anything? Water...something to eat?"

She shook her head, "No thank you, I am fine, just needed to sit a moment, but it is passing, and she is calming down." She looked at the time and saw that the entertainment wasn't due to start for another twenty minutes, and that was far too long. "Sam, look out there and see if you see Shelly, I need to get her to let me go on now, while I am feeling up to it."

He really didn't want to leave her, but he needed to get her on stage, and done sooner rather than later. He looked out the curtain, and he didn't see her. He needed to find her as quickly as he could, so he just walked on the stage and took the microphone, "Excuse me….may I have your attention please."

The crowd turned to the stage, and some gasped at Sam Evans on stage, they didn't even know he was going to be there. So they started to applaud him.

He waved his hand, "Thank you, but I am not here to do anything special, I was just looking for Shelly Adams if you could please come backstage."

Everyone looked confused, but he motioned the DJ to turn the music back on, and he walked back to the back with Mercedes. Soon Shelly was walking back, "What is going on here?"

Mercedes called her over, "I need to go on now, and get back to the room, I am starting to feel some pain, but it is coming and going, so I need to do it now, while it's going."

Shelly looked over at Sam, and then back to Mercedes, "Do you think you really need to do this?"

"Yes!"

"No!"

They both said at the same time, but it was Mercedes who jumped back in, "Yes! I will do this, I just need to do it now."

Shelly rolled her eyes, "Fine, let me get the band up there, and I'll introduce you." She walked off to get everything together.

"Cedes, do you really think this is a wise decision?" Sam was now in full-blown panic mode, "I just have a really bad feeling about this."

"I'm fine, Sam, I promise." She felt the pain subside, and she nodded, "I feel better already." She kissed his cheek, "After I'm done, you can whisk me back to the suite, and I will relax the rest of the night."

Although his gut was telling him that he should take her back upstairs now, he agreed to her terms. "Right after you're done."

She nodded and kissed his lips sweetly, and smiled when she heard Shelly getting everyone's attention. "It's showtime." She smiled and headed to the stage after she was introduced. During the first song, it was fine, no pain at all. And she thought that things were going to go off without a hitch, but then the second song started and she was in a bit more pain. More than usual, but she wasn't going to show it. She fought through it and gave a great performance. She waved and walked off the stage right to Sam, "I think we need to get to the hospital."

Sam's eyes went as bright as saucers, "What kind of pain are you in?" He helped her to the chair, to sit her down, but as they were walking, she stopped and looked down, at the puddle on the floor, and he looked too, "Cedes, is that…."

"My water just broke!" She grabbed her stomach as a pain shot through her, "Oh Sam! I think it's time! She's coming!" She grabbed the wall, and bent over, "Oh God...she is coming fast too!"

Sam was frozen, he didn't think tonight was the night, but she was coming, and he didn't know what to do. "We need to get you to the hospital." He went to pull out his phone, "I'll call an ambulance."

She shook her head, "I don't think we have time...you need to take me yourself."

He wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do, but he wanted Mercedes to get to the hospital as soon as possible. Soon they were a small crowd forming, including Shelly, "Shell, I need you to get someone to get my car." He reached inside his wallet and pulled out his wallet, "Here's the valet ticket, and tell them it's an emergency, that my wife is in labor."

Shelly's eyes went wide, "WHAT!? Mercedes is in labor?" She took a second to compose herself, "Alright, I'm on it." She pointed to a guy next to her, "Take this to the valet, and run!" She then grabbed the phone from Sam, "Is her doctor's number in here?"

Sam nodded, "Yes, speed dial 2."

Shelly dialed the number, and was looking out for the man who went to get the car, "I think we need to try to get her to the front."

Sam nodded, "Yeah….we should do that, so she can get in the car." He was obviously rambling because he was freaking out. "Come on baby, we are going to take you to the front, so we can get you to the hospital."

"I heard Shelly Sam! You don't have to repeat what she just said." She was a bit snippy, but the pain was starting to get worse. "Let's GO!" She started heading to the door, leaving them standing there. On the way there, she had to stop a few times, because the pain was unbearable, and she couldn't move. "OH GOD! This is insane! We need to hurry up and get this baby out of me!"

Sam was doing everything he could to get Mercedes to the front, so they could get to the hospital, but every time she would scream, he would get even more panicked. "Mercy, what do you need me to do? Are you sure you don't want to get an ambulance?"

She snapped her head up at him, "No, we don't have time for an ambulance. All I need from you is to get the car, and drive me to the hospital."

He was about to say something, but then the manager ran over "Your car is in front!" Sam nodded, "Okay baby, you heard that the car is out front, now come on, let's get you to the hospital."
Mercedes started walking, and looked back at Shelly, "Where are you going? You have an event to run."

Shelly looked at her like she was crazy, "Mercedes Evans, I don't give a damn about that event, you are about to have a baby, and I am going to be there with you."

She shook her head, "Shelly stop, Sam is going to be there, and there is nothing you can do there. You are needed here to finish the even and make sure everything is done the right way. I will be fine, I am not the first woman to have a baby, and I damn sure ain't the last one. So go finish the evening, and we will be fine." She reached out for Sam, "Come on...this pain is killing me right now."

Sam gave Shelly a nod, letting her know that everything is going to be fine. And he took Mercedes and led her to the car. He jumped in, after getting her settled, and pulled out of the driveway. They were about ten minutes from the hospital when they hit traffic. "Fuck!" Sam screamed out, "Not this...we don't need this!" He hit the steering wheel.

Mercedes was trying to do her breathing exercises, but the pain was coming so fast, she never had time to really breathe. When she saw the traffic, she started to panic, "Sam….we can't be stuck, I am not going to be able to hold it. What are we going to do?"

Sam had no idea what to do, traffic wasn't moving at all, and he knew if he didn't get her to the hospital, then she was going to have the baby in the car. He called Dr. Gray and wanted to give him the heads up that they were caught in traffic. "Hey Dr. Gray, we have a huge problem, we are stuck in gridlock, and it is not moving any time soon."

"Shit….I mean, that's not good." Dr, Gray sighed, "Sorry for that."

"No it's okay, that's how I felt." Sam replied, "So what should we do?"

"How far apart are the contractions?"

"They are coming pretty fast Dr. Gray." Mercedes chimed in, "Almost five minutes apart." She screamed as another one hit her, "I need this baby out of me!"

Dr. Gray spoke up, "Please try to relax Mercedes. Sam can you pull over to the side of the road, you might have to deliver this baby."

Sam froze, he was gripping the sheets so tight, his knuckles were turning white. "Me….deliver the baby?" He started to panic, "I-I can't d-do that? How am I supposed to deliver the baby?"

Mercedes was just as panicked as Sam, but her issue was for another reason, "Sam, if you have to deliver this baby, then you are going to deliver this baby. Because all I know is this baby has got to get out of me as soon as possible." She looked him square in his eyes, "Now you do what you have to do, call on Jesus, say a few hail Mary's, or say the Irish blessing for all I care, but you are going to get this baby out of me!"

Sam stared at Mercedes for a moment, then nodded, "Okay, I'll deliver the baby." He pulled the car on the shoulder. He didn't want to admit that Mercedes scared him a little, but she definitely scared him, and he was going to make sure to get that baby out of her.

Dr. Gray knew she was going to have to talk him through it, but she was ready. She also called an ambulance to go meet them on the road, so they can get the baby back to the hospital as soon as possible. "Okay Sam, I am going to talk you through this, and I also called an ambulance to try to get to you guys."

Sam nodded, and he got out, of the car, and made his way to the passenger's side. "Mercy, I am going to get you to the back seat, so you can lay down."

Dr. Gray heard Sam, "That's a great idea, Sam, Mercedes, you need to lay down, so it can be easier for you and Sam to deliver the baby."

"Okay, Dr. Gray." Mercedes said as calmly as possible, but the pain was coming faster and faster, and even more intense than before. She was trying to get up, but it hurt so bad, "Sam!"

"I'm right here baby, please just breath, and take those few steps to the back," He was trying to help her up, and it was a struggle, but he finally got her on her feet and to the back seat. "Alright baby, lay down, and we are going to get the baby out of you."

Mercedes actually found that Sam was being much stronger, and not panicking much more comforting for her. She laid on the back seat and put her legs up.

"Do you have a blanket of any kind in the car, Sam?" Sr. Gray chimed in.

"Yes, I think I have some blankets in the trunk."

"Good, you need to get the blankets, one to cover Mercedes, and one to wrap the baby in once she is delivered."

"Grab the baby blanket out my bag Sam, we can use that one." Mercedes jumped in.

He nodded and went to grab the blankets. Mercedes started screaming, when another contraction hit, "I'm coming baby, I promise." Sam grabbed the blankets and headed back to Mercedes side. "Okay doc, I got the blankets, now what?"

"I need you to remove any undergarments from Mercedes, and check and see if you see the head crowning." Dr. Gray replied.

He did as he was told, and pulled off her underwear, and looked, "I see the head slightly Dr. Gray."

"Okay, okay, this is not going to be a long labor, so Mercedes, I need you to push the next time you feel a contraction, and Sam you be ready to catch the baby when she comes out."

A car pulled over behind them, and a man jumped out his car, "Do you guys need any help?"

Sam shook his head, "Um….no, and yes, my wife is about to have a baby. You wouldn't happen to be a doctor would you?"

The man's face went as pale as a ghost, "A baby? She is about to have it now? Oh shit!" He shook his head, "No I'm not a doctor at all."

"Then leave us ALONE!" Mercedes screamed out, and Sam patted her leg to calm her down.

"Thanks, sir, I appreciate it, but there's nothing you can do." Sam nodded, "Unless you want to be on the lookout for the ambulance that is supposed to be here soon."

He nodded, "I can do that since no one is moving anytime soon." He got back in his car.

"Sam….SAM!" Dr. Gray screamed out.

"Oh, sorry, I'm here, just someone walked up."

"Was it the paramedic?"

"No, a good samaritan."

"Oh, how's Mercedes doing?"

"Oh, now you care!" Mercedes spat out, "I am in hella pain right now, that's how I'm doing. And we all seem to be worried about a damn good samaritan." She shook her head and was pissed. "Get this baby out of me NOW SAM!"

"Push at the next contraction Mercedes." Dr. Gray instructed.
"Here it comes!" She screamed as she started pushing.

Sam's eyes went wide, "I see the head more, it's coming Mercy, keep pushing." This was the most amazing thing he had ever seen in his life. "Okay baby, breath, and on the next contraction push again."
"That's right Sam, you need to do that Mercedes. Any sign of the ambulance?" Dr. Gray asked.

"Nope, not yet." Sam replied.

"Okay, just keep going." Dr. Gray stated.

Mercedes wanted this over with and done now, but she knew that she still had to do more. "Okay Sam, I feel another one coming, so get ready." She pushed as the contraction hit, and she was screaming so loud. The guy who stopped looked out the car to see what was going on.

Sam was right there, "I am here baby, I got you, just push baby...push."

For the next twenty minutes, she pushed and the baby inched out little by little. Mercedes was sweating and very tired, "Baby...I don't know if I can do this." The tears were flowing down her face.

"You got this baby, just one more push, and she is going to be here. I promise. You can't stop now." Sam yelled out, now actually touching his baby for the first time.

Mercedes nodded and pushed one more time as he said. "SAM!" She screamed, and then she heard the most beautiful sound she had ever heard, the cry of her little girl. "Sam….baby…"

Sam was in awe of what he witnessed, and what he was holding in his arms right now. "Mercy, baby she's here. You did it. Our daughter is here, and she is beautiful, just like her mother." He wrapped the blanket around her, and pulled out a pair of scissors he had in the car, and cut the umbilical cord. "You did amazing Mercy, our daughter is here." He heard the sirens coming toward them, "And the ambulance is coming."

"She has a healthy sounding cry, that's a good sign." Dr. Gray piped in, "I will have a better look at her once she comes in, and you as well Mercedes. Did I hear you say the ambulance was coming?"

"Yes, I can hear the sirens, they should be here soon." Sam answered as he was staring down at his daughter.

"Sam…" Mercedes was exhausted, but she needed to see her daughter. "Sam…"

Sam was in awe, and he couldn't stop looking down at their little girl. She was beautiful, but he was brought out of his thoughts from Mercedes calling his name, "Huh? What is it, baby? Are you okay?"

Mercedes could see how Sam was looking at their daughter with so much love in his eyes, and she hated taking her away from him, but she needed to see her daughter. "I need to hold her."

He nodded, and brought their daughter over to her, and handed her off, "Here's mommy." He smiled.

Mercedes had never felt this kind of love in her life. It was totally different from the love she felt for Sam. This was a life she created inside of her and was a part of her. It was so intense and unconditional, she knew she would do anything for her. "She is so beautiful Sam, I can't believe she is finally here." She looked at the baby, and then back at Sam, "Babe….we're parents." She said with a huge smile on her face.

It took everything for Sam not to cry right then and there as he looked down into the face of his daughter. She was beautiful, just like his wife. He didn't know he could love her any more than he already did, but at that moment, his love for her grew more than he ever imagined. She looked so beautiful holding their daughter in her arms, it was a look even he had never seen before. He could see the love in her eyes as she stared down at their little girl. He could already see that she was the perfect mix of both him and Mercedes, from the little nose that had Mercedes flared nostrils and she was curling her lips as Sam did. He was lost in his thoughts, he didn't hear Dr. Gray calling his name until Mercedes grabbed his hand,

"Sam…"

He looked down at her, "Huh?"

She smiled, "Dr. Gray is calling you."

He shook his head, forgetting that Dr. Gray was even on the phone. "Oh...yeah, sorry."

"No problem Sam, has the ambulance gotten there yet?"

He looked back and saw the EMT's getting out of the ambulance, "Yes they are here."

"Good, I'll be here waiting for you both to get here." Dr. Gray ended his call.

The Emt's came and checked out Mercedes and the baby, before loading her into the ambulance. Sam didn't want to let them go, but he couldn't leave his car on the side of the highway. He kissed Mercedes sweetly, "I'll be right behind you baby and I'll see you at the hospital."

Mercedes nodded, "Okay...I love you, Sam, so much."

"I love you more baby, more than you ever know." He kissed her again, before letting them load them into the ambulance. He didn't go back to the car until he saw Mercedes and the baby were secure and they were ready to go. He then jumped in the car and started to follow the ambulance down the shoulder of the highway until they got to their exit and got to the hospital.

Mercedes started to shift in the bed and opened her eyes to see she wasn't dreaming, she was in the hospital and she had her baby girl. She sat up and looked over to see Sam holding their daughter and humming a little song to her. She couldn't stop the smile from coming on her face as she watched her husband love on their little girl so unconditionally and pure. He had a look of pure joy and love on his face and that was now her favorite look he gave. She was still so sore, but she needed to get up and go to the bathroom. "Sam...I need to go to the bathroom."

Sam turned around and smiled, "Hey look, mommy's up." He looked down to see their daughter fell off to sleep, so he gently put her in her bed, then went to help Mercedes up to the bathroom. After helping her and getting her back in bed, he sat on the edge next to her. "How are you feeling?"

She shrugged her shoulders, "I'm good, sore, but good."

He never liked seeing Mercedes in any pain, but seeing what she endured to bring their daughter into the world, only made him appreciate and respect her more. "Do you need me to get you anything, or do something?" He wanted to make sure she had everything that she needed.

She shook her head, "No, all I need you to do is lay here with me and finally decide on a name for our baby."

Sam smiled and laid down next to Mercedes and pulled her in his arms, "We definitely need to do that before everyone starts coming to see her. So we narrowed it down to two names, are we still feeling those names?"

She nodded, "Yeah, I think those are my two favorite, and I honestly think it suits her." She smiled and looked over at their sleeping child, "If she is anything like her daddy, then she is going to be a handful and strong." She chuckled.

Sam scoffed, "Like me? I do believe that it was you that had to be at that event last night and insisted on performing as well. So if she is anything like you, then she is going to be a firecracker and stubborn."

As much as Mercedes wanted to argue with him about his description of her, she really didn't have a leg to stand on because she was being stubborn last night and here they are. She shook her head, "I guess there is some truth in that, but no matter who she takes after, I know she is going to be strong. So I think we should go with Skye."

Sam let the name marinate in his mind and he nodded, "I like that, Skye Marie Evans." His smile grew wider and wider. Just then Skye let out soft little sleepy coos, and they both laughed, "I think she likes it."

Mercedes nodded with a huge smile, "I like it too." She looked over at her baby, "Welcome to the world, Skye Marie Evans."

So that was it! Please let me know what you think! Up next a time jump and we will see how things are going for the new family. We might get to check in on a few others.
