A/N: I'm planning on doing a drabble on each of the main pairings of siblings and their overprotective sides. The Motomiya's part is earlier on in this series and the Ishida/Takaishi will be on it's way. I hope you enjoy!
Tai Kamiya wasn't overprotective, even though everyone else in the world who had met him liked to think so. No, he was just protective - not overprotective and yes there was a difference, thank you very much Mimi - of his little sister. But come on who wouldn't be. Kari was sweet, kind, selfless (especially after the whole Miyotismon situation so many years ago, and yes he was still holding it against Matt), and pretty. Plus there was the whole deal with her illness' growing up, her near death experience (which was totally his fault, even though she tried to say it wasn't), and all the other crazy stuff she'd been through.
Kari always seemed to attract suitors, boys and girls. There was one boy that was his age, HIS AGE, trying to hit on her when she was only going into middle school. When Tai found out the boy was a classmate of Izzy's, well, let's just say he had a run-in with the boy. After some polite conversation, the boy swore he'd stay away from Kari. Of course, Tai did make sure of it and Izzy provided him with extra support. He didn't ask Matt or Sora, because well, Sora would tell him how ridiculous he was being (which he wasn't) and Matt would either roll his eyes at him or tell Kari (there was no in between with Matt in these situations it seemed).
Then the next major one was Davis Motomiya. A rambunctious, soccer loving underclassman who adored Tai. Straight up idolized him. Tai was flattered and supportive of Davis' soccer goals. (Heh, goals.) He didn't see too much of a problem with Davis, until he started asking Kari out and flirting with her. Then there was an issue, but Kari didn't seem too interested in Davis. Maybe it was because she and TK were back in the same class and it was easier for them to talk and hang out. Maybe it was because Davis decided to pick fights with TK and Kari wasn't interested in the drama. Or maybe it was that Kari wasn't interested in Davis as anything more than a friend.
Tai wasn't sure, but he could trust TK to fill him in on any changes in that, especially since he was sure TK had a crush on Kari. He definitely wasn't sure how he felt about that situation, but one boy at a time. Plus he had his own love life to worry about and it wasn't going well.
Tai was not overprotective of his sister. Not at all. Especially not years later when Kari had started seeing some guy from school. Especially not when said guy openly flirted with some girl at a party in front of Kari. Especially not when same guy stood up his sister, "because he was with his sick grandmother", only for Tai and Matt to see him with some other girl. And especially not when Tai walked over and had to hold Matt back to punching the guy.
Nope, Tai was not overprotective. He did punch the guy the next time he saw him, and made sure everyone knew that he was a no good cheater.
No one, messes with his little sister, especially not with her heart.
