"Chris?" Regina said with an incredibly dry throat. She crawled over to him on the floor and noticed that he was unconscious.

Her head throbbed as a flash of memory caught her by surprise. She shook it off as she felt for his pulse and listened for breath sounds. Regina shook his shoulders, hoping to wake him.

Chris let out a low groan as Regina looked down and noticed a large piece of concrete on his leg. Her joints cracked as she stood up and stumbled on weak legs. She placed her hands under the large piece and pulled up as hard as she could. A scream escaped her lungs as the weight began to take a toil on her small frame.

"Help! Can anyone hear me? Help!" She cried out, her throat feeling like fire.

A pain shot through her wrist, but she powered through it.

The concrete slab creaked as it was slowly lifted. Regina kicked a smaller brick under the slab and let go. The gap she formed was enough for her to help pull out Chris' injured leg.

Chris' eyes blinked open, but he soon contorted his face in pain.

"Don't worry. Just stay down. Your leg appears to be broken, but I think I might be able help." She said as she inspected his leg carefully.

Chris watched her eyebrows furrow with concern, the wheels in her mind turning as he looked into her chocolate eyes. She began to rummage through the wreckage and found two pieces of wood. She tore her sweater into strips to tie his leg and made a splint.

"I'm so sorry." she said flinching as she realigned the bone with a loud crack. Chris yelled out as Regina finished with the splint.

"Are you okay? Do you feel any other type of pain?" she asked as she examined his head.

"Ugh, I have… like a mild headache and… my leg, obviously, but that's it. I think." he said trying to sit up and lean against the wall. Regina looked deep into his eyes and inspected his pupils to make sure that he didn't exhibit any signs of a concussion.

"I thought I was the doctor…" he said jokingly. Regina laughed lightly as she made a sling with the remainder of the fabric from her sweater and wrapped it around her own arm, just then noticing the stinging pain from her wrist.

They both looked around the small room covered in ash. She tried to control her breathing, but Regina suddenly began to hyperventilate.

"Hey, it's going to be okay. Why don't you try to find a phone and call someone." He said trying to comfort her.

"Okay. Yah, I'll do that." She said with shallow breaths as she tried to look around the floor. She noticed her cell under a broken chair and quickly crawled over to it. Her head continuing to throb as she rubbed her temples, trying to alleviate the dull throbbing pain.

She sighed in relief as the phone turned on. Regina wiped Chris' blood from her hands onto her shirt and clicked on the first contact on her phone.

"Regina! Are you okay?!" Graham's voice called out from the phone.

"Yeah, pretty much, but I'm with Chris and he has a broken leg. We need to get out of here Graham. We're trapped in the records room." Regina said into the cell, her voice hoarse.

"Yah, the fire department is here and figuring out how to get into the room without compromising the structure. We're going to get you out." he said reassuringly. Regina felt a tear roll down her cheek.

"Henry is at the stables. Can you go get him, please?" She said quietly, her head continuing to throb.

"Of course, but what should I tell him." he asked. She could tell that he had started to walk and get into his car.

"Just take him home and let him know that I'm safe. Don't let him worry." Regina said before saying goodbye and hanging up.

Regina crawled back to Chris and sat next to him, her eyes beginning to droop.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Chris asked as he placed his hand on her chin and turned her head to face him. He took into account the bleeding cut on her forehead and looked over the rest of her injuries.

"Umm, my head is throbbing a bit, but I think I'm fine. I just… I hate small spaces, but my pulse is strong. I think my wrist is sprained, but it doesn't appear to be serious. I don't think I have any broken bones and just a few small cuts and bruises." She said looking over her own body, trying to overcome her anxiousness with an awkward laugh.

Chris couldn't help but examine her face as she talked. The way her hair fell and framed her face, her mesmerizing eyes, the little vain that popped on her forehead when she laughed or smiled too brightly, and her lips… They looked exactly like he remembered all those years ago. Not a single feature deviated from the picture he kept in his mind. She looked exactly like…

"Eva?" Regina said suddenly. He looked up from where he was staring surprised and confused.

"What?" Chris asked, his eyebrows furrowing.

"You called out that name before the… You know… Who was she?" she said blankly playing with her fingers.

"Oh, yeah I guess I did… Uh, she was just someone I used to know. A colleague… Um, a really good friend." Chris said forgetting about the pain in his broken leg.

"What happened to her?" Regina asked curiously.

"She was in a car accident… She didn't survive." he said quietly looking down into his lap.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to bring it up." Regina said placing her hand in his. Chris looked up meeting her gaze and gave her a sad smile. She squeezed his hand lightly.

"It's alright. It happened a long time ago." He said. They both fell into a comfortable silence which Chris broke once more.

"What's this? If you don't mind me asking." he said suddenly reaching out to examine the pink scar tissue that appeared on her abdomen. Regina felts a mild shock shoot through her body as his hand came closer to the scar, and as he lightly brushed his fingers over it, barely grazing the flesh.

Her shirt had risen to reveal a large scar. Chris' eyes widened with recognition.

"I-I don't really remember. It happened a long time ago. It's strange really, you would think I would remember something like this…" Regina said staring at the scar.

Her vision began to blur.

"Regina? Hello? Come on, stay with me. Please, stay with me." Chris asked as he cupped his hands to frame her face.

She began to cough profusely. Her throat felt dry and she began having trouble breathing. Her breathing shallowed and soon enough her eyes began to droop closed.

"Regina! Come on. Please stay awake. Regina!" Chris said moving suddenly to check her pulse, but swearing loudly due to the sudden movement of his leg.

"Please… I can't go through this again…" he whispered.

Her world turned black as her head fell to the side against Chris' shoulder.

"Help!" Chris began to yell frantically. He couldn't get her to wake back up.

He heard muffled replies as the debris in front of him began to crumble. He held her body close to his in an embrace, making sure he blocked any dust and dirt from her face. A pang of hope shot through him as hands appeared through a hole that was forming where the large blocks of concrete and wood had trapped them.

"Help! We're in here!" he continued to yell as firemen broke through the wall.

"She passed out just a couple of minutes ago. You have to take her now! Take her first!" Chris insisted as they lifted Regina on a stretcher, her body looking small and frail. He watched as they carried her out and soon after returned for him.

Chris squinted as the light hit his eyes. His ears strained at sound of people talking loudly and police officers holding back the crowd that had formed. He watched as Regina's gurney was lifted into an ambulance and the townsfolk gasped as they saw their mayor unconscious. Soon after he was placed from the stretcher onto a gurney as well, his eyes shooting up as he heard a scared voice through the crowd.

"Mom? Mom!" A small voice yelled above the noise of adults talking over each other.

"Henry! Stop running!" Emma called as she tried to catch up with him.

Henry stopped at the curb as the ambulance pulled away with Regina inside. Chris watched from the gurney as both Graham and Emma pulled a distraught Henry away from the road.

Emma began to walk towards Chris. He removed the air mask from his face to talk to her.

"Hey, you alright?" she asked simply.

"Yeah mostly. Just a few bumps and bruises." Chris answered with a small smile.

"What happened in there?" Emma asked taking out a small notepad.

"Wait, what's with the legal pad?" he asked, his eyebrow raising in question.

"Graham hired me as deputy sheriff… and I took it. I think it would be best if I stayed in town for a while. For henry." she explained.

"I think that's a good idea." Chris said before a paramedic interrupted them.

"I'm sorry miss, but we have to head to the hospital. You can finish asking him questions after he's fully checked out." The young man placed the breathing mask back on Chris' face before his colleague and him lifted the gurney onto the back of the ambulance.

"Want a ride there?" the paramedic asked Emma, but she shook her head and pointed to the police cruiser.

Henry begged Graham to take him to the hospital to see his mom, but Graham had insisted that they should stop at Granny's to grab a bite to eat before they go to see Regina. He didn't want to get yelled at for starving her son. They left Emma in charge of the cruiser, while they walked to the diner, hopefully giving Henry some time to breath and calm his nerves.

She drove down main street in silence. It was her first time alone in the car and she didn't know how to work the stereo system. Thank god the drive was short due to the simple fact that Storybooke wasn't that big of a town in the first place.

Quickly getting out of the car she walked through the automatic doors and straight to the receptionist's desk.

"Hi, I'm Deputy Sheriff Swan. I'm looking for two patients who were just admitted. The mayor and a man named Chris Deleo." She said showing her badge and trying to act professional.

"Of course Deputy. The paramedics told me you were on your way." she said as she stood up from her seat and grabbed two files on the opposite end of the desk. She walked out from behind the counter flipping through the papers.

"Dr. Deleo is getting an X-ray for his broken leg and Mayor Mills is getting a CT scan. Both will finish shortly. Doctor Whale can explain more later. In the meantime you can wait in the sitting room and we'll send him over as soon as he's free." she said leading Emma to a small sitting area.

Emma thanked the woman and sat down on the uncomfortable chairs metal chairs. She took her phone out and quickly sent Graham a text updating him. He replied back stating that he and Henry are at Granny's and will bring her a burger when they arrive at the hospital.

She sat anxiously, fiddling the zipper of her jacket until she over heard two nurses talking around the corner. Trying tone discreet she leaned her head closer towards the noise and tried to zone in on what they were saying.

"I heard the Mayor was rushed in today. I was in the stock room, do you know what happened?"

"There was some kind of explosion at city hall. She still hasn't woken up. It really is a tragic thing, but did you hear that she was with some other guy. Apparently she saved his life in there." They discussed not so quietly.

"That's simply terrible what happened. I hope they find out what caused something like that."

Emma heard quick footsteps and a male voice join the conversation.

"Will you two stop standing around! I need someone to go downstairs and check on what's taking so long with the CT scan. If we don't find out why she hasn't woken up yet, we might be in big trouble. Hurry!" He said as the nurses scurried away. Emma quickly moved away and grabbed a magazine. She looked up as the doctor stood next to her.

"Hi, I'm Doctor Whale. How can I help you?" he said with a forced smile as she stood up to shake his hand.

"Emma Swan. And I need you to tell me exactly what's going on."
