Chapter 46: The Wedding
A/N: Hey guys, super long chapter for all of you. I hope you enjoy and Merry Christmas to those of you celebrating it.
After the silent ride back to Alcide's house I helped him up the steps and into his room.
"Get in bed I'll be right back" I said to him and walked to the kitchen to get him a glass of water and some Tylenol. Once I walked back into his room I saw that his closet was open and Alcide was currently on his knees on the floor.
"Shit…" I whispered and sat the water down quickly, making my way over to him I heard he was still muttering to himself.
"Come on, into bed" I said and tried pulling him up but he was resisting by pulling his arm down.
"Alcide you have to work with me here" I said to him and tried again and this time I got him onto one knee. Good one to go I thought to myself and pulled again.
"Marry me…" Alcide said and as I looked down I saw he was holding a ring up to me. Rolling my eyes I shook my head at him "You are drunk, please get into bed" I begged him and Alcide stared up at me. "Marry me…" he said again and I frowned at him. "It's all those tequila shots talking" I said to him and he frowned up at me.
"Marry me…" he replied and I shook my head at him. "Are you going to ask me that the whole night?" I asked him and he replied with the same answer or more like question. "Marry me…"
"Will you stop asking if I say yes or no?" I asked him frowning as I looked at his face.
"Marry me…" he replied and I sighed. "Fine…yes I will marry you" I said to him and frowned even more as a wide smile spread over his face. He grabbed my hand and slid the silver diamond ring onto my finger and pulled himself up with the help of his drawer.
He stepped towards me and tried kissing me but ended up kissing my nose. "Okay loverboy, now time for bed" I said and sat him down on the bed. I pulled his shirt off of him and then pushed him back. Undoing his belt I slid his jeans off and once he was only in his boxers I pulled the sheet over him and sat the water right next to him.
I undressed quickly and slid on of Alcide's shirts over my head, then climbed in next to him into bed, deciding not to mention what had happened the night before.
I woke up early in the morning and looked to my side to see Alcide still sleeping soundly. I got up and got dressed, heading to the kitchen I pulled out breakfast things. I started mixing batter for pancakes and then my eye caught sight of the ring still on my finger.
I smiled down at it and then tugged it off of my finger, laying it safely on the top of the fridge then I went back to mixing the batter.
"Something smells good" Alcide said behind me just as I turned the stove off. I grabbed all of the pancakes and set them on the counter. "I thought that you might need some energy today" I said to him and watched him carefully. But he showed nothing as he sat down and grabbed a plate, placing a load of pancakes on it he covered them with syrup and then started eating.
"I'm sorry about last night. It's just my dad gets to me" he said between bites and I gave him a small smile of understanding. I grabbed two cups and filled them with coffee, sitting down with Alcide and just enjoying the silence.
"So where is my mother's ring?" Alcide asked me just as I took a sip of coffee that came spluttering out of my mouth.
"Oh I put it on the fridge, I didn't want it to get damaged while making breakfast" I said to him quickly and got up to get it. I set it right in front of him and then wiped the counter clean of all coffee. I sat back down and sipped my coffee again, feeling the awkwardness in the room.
"Why aren't you wearing it?" Alcide asked me again just as I took a sip of coffee but this time I swallowed it down. I turned to him with wide eyes.
"You were serious?" I asked him and he looked at me and then slid the ring back over to me.
"You thought I forgot about last night, and yes I am serious" Alcide said and I swallowed loudly not sure what to say.
"Alcide I just got out of…" "I am not saying now. We take our time with this, maybe get married in a year or so, we are made for each other. You can't deny that you don't have feelings for me. Since the first day I laid eyes on you, I knew you were something special and would be in my life for a reason" Alcide said and I stared bewildered at him.
"Please don't tell me that will be your vows…" I said quickly and was shocked to hear Alcide burst out with laughter.
"So you still saying yes?" he asked me and I nodded at him. Alcide gently slid the ring back onto my finger and then leaned towards me, placing a soft kiss on my lips.
A week later I was in town picking up some groceries for Alcide and myself when I accidently bumped into someone. "Oh sorry…" I said to the guy and when he turned around I felt a smile spread over my face as I saw a very well dressed guy.
"Mr. Herveaux, this is a surprise" I said to him and smiled back when he smiled.
"Please it's Jackson, and yes I felt the need to get my shit together as I can say. Alcide has had a fuck-up for a dad for way too long, hopefully he can forgive me" he said to me and I smiled at him and nodded. "Of course he will, Jackson" I said to him and swept the hair out of my face.
"Is that? Oh I didn't realize that you and Alcide we're engaged the other night" Jackson said to me and frowned until I realized he saw the ring on my finger when sweeping my hair away from my face.
"Oh uhm…we weren't. He actually asked that night" I said sheepishly and felt relieved when Jackson smiled at me and pulled me into a hug. "I am very happy for the both of you. Do you have any idea of when the date will be?" he asked me and I shook my head.
"No I haven't even started planning. But I will let Alcide call you as soon as we know" I told him and saw a bit of disappointment in his eyes. "Okay I'll let you be" he said to me and turned to walk away but before he could get to far I called out to him with an idea.
"Jackson…would you like to come to dinner tonight?" I asked him and saw hesitation in his eyes. "I'm sure Alcide won't mind. If not for him come for me" I said to him hopefully and watched as he thought it over.
"With one condition…you stop calling me Jackson and start calling me dad, unless your father will mind…" Jackson said but stopped and thoughtfully said the last part.
"No…no I uhm, I lost my dad. But I am sure he wouldn't have minded one bit" I said to him and saw the look of pity in his eyes. "I don't want pity, it made me stronger. Now dad…what do you want for tonight" I said as I linked my arm in his walking down the aisle.
"Well I would never say no to a good piece of meat" he said and I laughed as I realized that Alcide was the same. We made our way over to the meat section and took a few good looking pieces of meat.
"I'll see you tonight at six then" Jackson said to me and I nodded at him and said goodbye before heading home, dreading to tell Alcide.
"Wow that is a lot of meat…" Alcide said as he came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me. "Well we are having a guest tonight" I said to him and walked out of his embrace and around the counter to look straight at him.
"And who is this guest?" he asked me and lifted his eyebrow while crossing his arm after seeing the look on my face which showed guilt and nervousness.
"Don't be mad…" I said to him and saw him sigh "Well now I am apprehensive" he said to me and I hung my head and counted to three. "Your dad" I whispered and peeked up from beneath my hair to see a gob smacked look on his face. "No. Absolutely not, I don't want him here" Alcide said with a stern voice and I sighed as I made my way back over to him, wrapping my arms around him but he still didn't uncross his arms.
"Please…I ran into him and he saw the ring. We talked and then I invited him over. He cleaned his act up, I promise. If not for him, do it for me" I said pulling a pouty face and realized that I said the same thing to his dad.
"No…" Alcide said and I stared at him. "Please…I'll do anything" I said to him and saw that I had his attention. "I'll give you sex every day for the next month" I said to him and he smirked down at me which made me frown in confusion.
"I can have that anyway, you never say no to me" he said and I frowned knowing he was right. "Fine…whatever you want" I said to him and saw him think for a moment. "Marry me" he said and I frowned up at him again.
"Uhm…I already said yes Alcide or did you forget?" I asked him showing him my hand that the ring was on.
"I know you already said yes. Marry me. Tomorrow, in court" he said and I swallowed loudly looking for any signs that he was joking. Before I could protest his hand was over my mouth.
"We both want a small wedding. You have no family and I only have my dad. Friends are just as small, because I am sure you won't want Sookie and them to be there. Just as I won't like any vampires there" Alcide said to me and as I thought I realized he was right.
"But isn't this too soon?" I asked him because we both said to take it slow.
"What are we waiting for? Yes this is quick but we both know how fast things can change, but I never want us to change. And it's just you taking my name and the two of us being bonded by law" Alcide said to me and I honestly didn't know if I wanted to. But something inside of me urged me to say yes and I always knew to trust my instincts.
"Fine, you know you don't play fair at all" I said to him pouting. Alcide chuckled and picked me up, setting me on the counter he kissed me passionately and showing me his dominance.
A knock on the door made Alcide growl and when I looked up at the clock I realized it was already six.
"Shit, it's your dad" I said and Alcide growled again until I smacked him on the chest.
"Go shower while I start making food" I said to him and Alcide looked at me with confusion. "I am sure your dad would not want to see his son with a boner" I said to him and pointedly looked down at the tent in his pants.
"Fine, but tonight your ass is mine" Alcide growled into my ear and stalked into the bathroom, but we both knew we would just sleep tonight because I haven't been able to let him touch me after everything that happened.
The knock came again and I called out that it was open.
I quickly busied myself with starting to make dinner as Jackson stepped into the kitchen with a bottle of wine in his hand. "Hey, I uh didn't know which one to get. But I know you can never go wrong with a sweet red" he said as he placed the bottle on the counter.
"It's fine, you ready shouldn't have. And if you are anything like Alcide I know the both of you would prefer beer instead of wine" I said with a smile and saw Jackson also smile and chuckle a bit, knowing I was right.
I turned to the fridge and pulled two beers out, setting one in front of Jackson and opened the other one for myself.
"So how did you and Alcide meet?" Jackson asked me and I shook my head at him with a smile "It's a very long story" I said to him but after he looked at me with a curious gaze I motioned for him to sit down at the counter while I was busy turning the meat over.
"Alcide was actually repaying a debt to the vampire sheriff Eric Northman. Eric bought me as a slave, that's another long story. But I got away and Alcide had to fetch me. It's also the first time I met a werewolf. We only talked a bit, after that some things happened and he took pity on me. Also we only talked a bit, but so we kept meeting up time to time and before we knew it we we're friends. Like any relationship we had ups and downs but Alcide has always been there for me when things went bad for me" I explained to Jackson that listened to every word I said carefully.
"Yeah that is like Alcide, always helping everyone" Jackson said and I nodded at him.
"Are you busy tomorrow?" I asked him and watched as he thought it over. "No, nothing I can think of, what do you need?" he asked me and I wondered if Alcide wanted to tell him himself but Alcide still being a bit cold towards his father I knew that I had to tell him.
"I'd like if you could be a witness tomorrow for us. We decided to get married in the court tomorrow, it's just easier and it's what both of us would like" I explained to him and was surprised as I saw a smile come over his face.
"I would be honored to, if Alcide allows it" Jackson said with hesitance as he looked around the kitchen not knowing what to do.
"I have to have someone walk me down the 'aisle' to Alcide, and it's usually a father figure" I replied but whispered the last part to him and for a moment I could have sworn I saw tears well up in his eyes but just as fast as they appeared they were gone again.
"Something smells great" Alcide said as he stepped into the kitchen, freshly showered.
"Alcide…" Jackson greeted with a nod of the head and Alcide looked at me and with me pointing my eyebrows at his dad, Alcide turned towards him. "Dad…" Alcide said in greeting and I smiled as I saw Jackson's chest puff out a bit and happiness settled into his eyes.
"Alcide you can set the table" I said to him as I turned the stove off and put the meat and vegetables into two different glass containers.
Dinner went much more smoothly than I thought it would. It was quiet at first until I asked Jackson to tell me a bit about Alcide's childhood. And from there on funny stories were told and the room was filled with laughter until it was late into the night.
"Drive safely, and we will see you tomorrow at noon" I said as I hugged Jackson goodbye and watched as Alcide shook his dads hand.
"I won't miss it for the world" Jackson said and I smiled at him "Bye dad" I said while ignoring the shocked look that Alcide gave me. We watched as he drove off and then both of us made our way to the kitchen, starting on the dishes.
"Dad, huh?" Alcide asked me and I sighed as I turned towards him. "Alcide…" I started but was cut off as he kissed me suddenly. "I'm not mad, just surprised" Alcide responded and I nodded at him.
"It feels natural to me, and I asked him to give me away tomorrow" I said to Alcide and watched as he turned to me again. "You sure about tomorrow?" he asked me and I frowned up at him. "You getting cold feet?" I asked him and relaxed as he kissed the frowns on my forehead.
"No, I just don't want to pressure you into anything, not after everything…" he said to me and I nodded at him. "I want this just as much as you do. I want to leave my old life behind and start a new one with you" I said to him and seeing as the dishes was all clean I grabbed Alcide's hand and pulled him into the bedroom.
The next morning I woke up with warm arms around my body as sighed happily as I turned around to face Alcide.
"Morning" Alcide said to me as my grey eyes met his brown ones. "Were you staring at me while I was sleeping?" I asked him with raised eye brows.
"Maybe…" Alcide replied and I smiled at him and leaned forward to lay a kiss onto his lips. As soon as my lips touched his he growled and pulled me on top of him, so that my body was resting on his. Our lips worked in synch as we kissed each other roughly. I pulled back and laughed as I laid my head on his chest. "We look like teenagers…" I said to him and saw him smile at me. "You make me feel like one" he said to me and I frowned at him in confusion.
Alcide then grabbed my ass and pushed it into a downward way so that I could feel what he meant. My cheeks were bright red from feeling him hard and throbbing under me.
"Come on, shower and then breakfast. We have to be there at noon" Alcide said and rolled out of bed heading to the bathroom. I laid there for a few minutes realizing that in a few hours I would be married.
I finally climbed out of bed and headed to the shower to see Alcide was already done and heading to the bedroom to get dressed. After climbing out I pulled a white long dress out of the closet and slipped it on. It wasn't a traditional wedding dress but it would do. I did my make-up soft and glow like. I pinned all of my hair up and walked to the kitchen expecting to see Alcide but he was nowhere to be seen.
As I walked to the coffee pot I saw a note that said 'Eat breakfast and take your time, a car will pick you up at eleven, Love Alcide'.
Not thinking much of it I took a couple of fruit and quickly cut them up for a fruit salad and ate it slowly, trying to settle my nerves. After two more cups of coffee I headed out as I saw it was nearly eleven o'clock.
As I walked to the front a black car pulled up and a guy climbed out and opened the back door for me. After thanking him I climbed inside and sat quietly in the back as we drove to city hall. Sometime on the way there I spaced out because all of the sudden my door opened and I saw that we had stopped.
As I climbed out I frowned because we were not in front of city hall but instead in front of a church. "I'm sorry, this is the wrong place" I said to the guy but he simply smiled at me and closed my door and then walked back to his side and drove away, no matter how much I seemed to press that this was the wrong place.
"You must be the bride to be" a gleeful voice said behind me and as I looked at the woman in front of me I couldn't help but notice how beautiful she was.
"I'm Janice, Janice Herveaux" she said to me and my eyes grew wide. "Oh you're Alcide's sister" I said back to her and she smiled at me and grabbed my hand pulling me into the church. Janice led me down to a room and once we stepped inside I gasped as I saw a beautiful long white beaded dress hanging there.
"How…" I began but couldn't finish my sentence. "Alcide called me yesterday and asked me for the help. He gave me your size and told me what sort of style you like. Come on get dressed everyone is waiting downstairs" Janice said to me and I gaped at her but walked forward after she nudged me.
Janice helped me get dressed and after fixing a few things I told her that I was ready. The two of us walked to the doors where I saw Jackson in a suit waiting for me and once he saw me, a huge smile broke out over his face.
"You look beautiful" he said to me and I smiled as he took my arm and linked it with his own.
I looked to see Janice walking down the aisle and then Jackson kissed my head and asked me if I was ready.
"I am, but what if this is a mistake?" I asked him, starting to doubt myself.
"No, no, no. Do not think like that. You and Alcide are a match made in heaven, you have been through so much and you both deserve this happiness" Jackson said to me and I smiled nodding at me.
Jackson and I stepped towards the doors and as we went through them my eyes instantly fell on Alcide, waiting in the front for me. Once our eyes connected we both smiled broadly at each other.
The walk was over quickly and as we came to the front Jackson gave my hand over to Alcide and I thanked him for walking me down the aisle.
As the reverend started talking I couldn't stop looking up at Alcide and it seemed that it was the exact same thing for Alcide. Everything went by so quickly and before we knew it the reverend said that Alcide could kiss the bride.
Alcide smiled down at me and cupped my cheek, leaning down slowly his lips met mine softly, with both of us smiling into the kiss. Everyone in the church cheered and it made me look at somewhat fifteen people in the church.
"My sister knows a lot of people and some of the pack members" Alcide said to me and I nodded at him.
"Alright come on, we should start heading out to the after party" Alcide said to me and I frowned up at him and shook my head.
"Just a family dinner…" he said to me and I sighed in relief. We walked out of the church and Alcide helped me into the truck and then walked over to his side. As we started driving I realized we were going the wrong way and when I looked at Alcide he just smiled while continuing to drive.
