"Okay," Harry said, starting to spin enough of a tale to keep them out of jail. He could do stories, he liked stories. It was easy enough to tell a story, right? His nerves calmed, and he began to talk.
It was obvious to Draco that Harry was scared out of his mind, but - something that almost seemed obligatory to being a Gryffindor came over the child. Draco could see the fear being tamed, harnessed, molded into something that was useful. Draco hadn't ever really seen the like. It was rare enough for a Slytherin to look scared - taught to suppress their emotions, they kept them buried deep.
"Children our age aren't out in strange towns without parents." Harry began, and Draco nodded - that was merely common sense. "So, if someone asks, our parents are in a different store, or around the block, or any place plausible."
Draco couldn't resist probing, "What if there's no place plausible?"
Harry knew how to do that one, "Then you pull a wellie, hollering as loud as you can about how you can't find your parents, and how they must have left you just like they threatened."
Draco smirked and then laughed, "Even I can do better than that. You look around, and then start snivelling." Draco's face abruptly looked like it ought to have been dripping snot, and he said with a wail, "They aren't here - I've lost me Mother and Father!"
"Try Mum and Da," Harry put in helpfully. "Only posh pricks call their parents Mother and Father."
"Hey, I resemble that remark!" Draco said, sounding truly in a snit.
Harry blinked, and had his mouth open to kinda-sorta apologize, when he figured out what Malfoy had just said. "Hey!" he responded, hitting Malfoy upside the head.
Draco simply looked up in the sky, and said primly and smugly, "Gets them every time."
Harry said softly, "I'm going to head into town. If I'm not back in half an hour, I probably need a distraction. Come and get me."
"What am I supposed to do in the meantime?" Draco asked.
"Keep an eye on these mangy beasts." Harry said, grabbing the big black dog by the scruff of his neck, who promptly gave a loud whine.
[a/n: Draco is the far better choice to play Gina. Harry does a far better Dennis the Menace.
