Apollo woke up with something heavy lying across his face. Vaguely aware that Athena had slept over last night he rolled on his side, intending to cuddle before he had to attend to his duties. What he got was a small socked foot in his mouth. Apollo's eyes flew open to see a small leg draped over his face, with its owner lying horizontally across the two pillows between himself and Athena. Gently Apollo lifted the leg and sat up in bed, the room still dark, which meant he had nowhere to be yet. He examined the owner of the foot that was in the mouth, Will was still soundly asleep and snoring loudly. Blonde curls splayed across the pillow and his arms were draped just above Athena's head, hands tangled in his mother's hair. That's going to hurt when she gets up. Apollo thought to himself. A small yawn drew his attention to Annabeth who was cuddled into the side of his leg, her eyes batting open and another yawn escaping her mouth. Carefully Apollo picked up his daughter and left the room, not wanting to wake up Athena or Will.
By the time Apollo had arrived at the kitchen Annabeth had woken up completely. "Alright sunshine what do you want for breakfast?" He asked as she furiously rubbed her eyes.
"Pancakes!" she shouted.
"Shh! We don't want to wake mommy and Willy." Apollo whispered.
"Pancakes." Annabeth whispered back giggling madly.
"Pancakes it is then. Do you want to help make them?"
Annabeth folded her arms. "I make."
"You help make." Apollo corrected bopping his finger on her nose.
"I help make." She repeated giggling. Apollo smiled and set her on the counter getting straight to work. By the time they had finished he and Annabeth and the kitchen, were covered in flour. He stirred the batter ready to pour them onto the girdle, "Daddy stop!" Annabeth shouted.
"What's the matter?" He asked alarmed setting down the bowl and checking his daughter for any bumps or bruises.
"You made them wrong." She said pointing to the bowl.
"I did not! I followed grandma's recipe exactly!" Apollo told her.
"They aren't the right colour!" Annabeth insisted.
"Oh really, and what colour should they be?"
"Blue."
"Blue?"
"Blue."
"Annabeth honey pancakes are not supposed to be blue."
"Percy's mommy makes blue pancakes." She said defiantly.
"Percy's mommy makes blue pancakes." He repeated stunned.
"Good blue pancakes." She insisted.
"Blue pancakes it is then sunshine."
"Yay!" Annabeth clapped her hands together creating a cloud of flour while Apollo fished blue food colouring out of the cabinet.
"What are you two doing?" Athena asked coming down the stairs holding Will and taking in the dirty kitchen.
"Hi mommy." Annabeth waved.
Athena set Will down on a chair away from all of the mess, "Hello, dear, Apollo what is all of this mess?"
"I made pancakes." He said shrugging.
"And they are blue because?"
"Percy's mommy makes blue pancakes." Annabeth informed her.
"Annabeth you should not do something because someone else does it, especially when a sea god does it."
"Ah, c'mon Athena lighten up, its just food colouring." Apollo said sliding a stack of pancakes onto a plate. "Besides it would be a waste to make more now."
"Oh alright." She sighed. "Annabeth, come help me set the table?"
"Okay mommy."
Apollo watched while Athena took a bite of her pancake. "Well?" He asked.
"Even though they're blue they're still very good." She admitted.
Apollo turned to his kids, "What do you guys think?"
"Goo-" Will choked out, his mouth stuffed with pancakes and syrup.
"Chew before you swallow kiddo, you're gonna need the heimlich." Apollo said.
"You make pancakes even better than Percy's mommy!." Annabeth said, staring amazed at her father.
"You bet I do princess." Apollo winked.
Athena laughed and then said seriously, "what are we doing with the children before the meeting?"
"I thought I'd take you all for a spin in the sun chariot." Apollo said.
"Sun car!" Will shouted, "Vroom vroom."
"Don't you have responsibilities at the camp Apollo?" Athena asked.
"Chiron can manage without me for one day, plus I still have to tend to my regular duties anyways."
Athena snapped her fingers and the mess was immediately cleared up. "Well what are we waiting for then?" She grinned picking up Annabeth and carrying her up the stairs to get ready for the day. Apollo and Will stared at each other for a few moments.
"You heard your mom Will, what are we waiting for?" Apollo said following Athena up the stairs with Will.
The sun chariot was docked outside of the master bedroom, the cherry red Masareti beginning to glisten as the sun crept up over the Empire State Building. Apollo fastened the two car seats Hestia had provided securely in the back and then fastened each of his children in as well.
"Is this the best format for taking your children on a drive?" Athena asked her hand running across the door while Apollo tightened Will's seat belt.
"Of course it is, I've never crashed the sun chariot."
"I recall it crashing several times." Athena said raising a brow.
"Yeah but I never crashed it. I'd never put them in a car with Thalia Grace driving for example, or with Hermes, or some other untrustworthy figure."
"Fine but if we crash-"
"You told me so. Now get in and stop worrying." Apollo leaned over and kissed her cheek, "Enjoy yourself for once."
Athena smiled and blushed. "Just start the car Apollo."
