Dina was dreaming.

At least that's what she thought her state was. Everything around looked like it's been pulled out of a dreamland. An endless desert filled with sand as white as snow. Maybe it was stardust.

Looking up she noticed the sky was shining with seemingly endless lines of light which met in one place. Dina couldn't quite tell where it was, everything around seemed clouded. She thought it looked like northern lights but couldn't be sure since she never saw them. Her vision wasn't clear, and her senses were dulled.

She heard something. At first, only muffled screams of some unknown people, but as she tried to listen more and more, she could pick out a voice. It sounded like a young boy. Dina could tell that, having been woken up many times by her little son in the morning. Being a parent made an imprint on her, and each time she heard a child crying out, she just had to come and check if it was fine.

The voice didn't belong to her son. She could tell for sure. This single fact didn't make sense. Why was some unknown boy screaming? This confused Dina greatly. There were many children in the neighbourhood, however this screaming boy seemed to be way too close.

Dina decided it was time to wake up. This dream seemed overstretched, and she felt tired. Yes, she'll wake up and check what's going on. The muffled screams, that little boy in need of help, something was definitely wrong out there.

Dina opened her eyes.

What she saw looked like a nightmare.

People were running around screaming. Women were wailing, men were running for their lives, crying children were trying to find their parents. Everything around was in a disarray. Buildings were broken, windows shattered, pieces of rocks were laying everywhere. It seemed like an earthquake shook the town, or the sky rained with boulders, or maybe it was some god of destruction who went on a rampage.

Dina stood up from the ground. She was wearing some tattered rags but seemed fine otherwise. The place she was laying looked like a back alley between buildings. She strode closer to the street where she saw the running people. Few of them bumped into Dina, running in panic. She looked at the direction the townspeople were running away from.

The blood within her veins froze for a good moment. A horde of titans was walking towards her. Man-eating monsters with horrifying smiles and grimaces marched towards their prey. It didn't make any sense to Dina. The town was surrounded by huge walls on all sides, so she wondered how exactly did they get here?

'I've got a feeling I'm not in Liberio anymore' Dina thought.

She definitely wasn't home. All this felt too real to have been a dream. She was in some unknown, God forsaken place which was currently under attack by titans. Dina thought the walls had to have been breached. That seemed to be a hard feat even for titans, considering the sheer size of those walls.

"MIKASA! HOLD THAT! WE'RE GONNA MOVE THIS PILLAR!" Dina heard the voice she picked out earlier.

She looked towards the source. Little brown-haired boy along with a small girl were trying to lift some heavy pieces of wood in front of a house destroyed by fallen boulders. Dina snapped out of her stupor and ran towards the pair. She saw they were trying to help some woman crushed under the fallen roof. 'It must be their mother'.

She reached the kids. "LET ME HELP!" she yelled gathering their attention. "IF WE ALL TRY TO PULL IT AT ONCE, WE COULD LIFT IT!"

The boy looked at her, and in that moment, she saw he had beautiful green eyes. She stood in front of the roof and took a hold of the piece of roof.

"ON THREE!" she yelled, and the kids grabbed the wood as well. "ONE, TWO… THREE!" They all pulled.

It moved a little, but the roof was way too heavy for them. The woman trapped beneath groaned in pain.

"The titans… They got inside, didn't they…" The mother looked at Dina. "Please, take Eren and Mikasa and get out of here…"

"I'D LOVE TO! SO, LET'S HURRY UP AND GET YOU OUT!" The boy named Eren cried out "COME ON! LET'S GET OUT OF HERE TOGETHER!"

"My legs got crushed by the rubble…" Eren's mother said "even if you get me out, I can't run…"

"I'll carry you!" Dina said looking at the lady.

"THE TITANS ARE COMING!" Yelled the girl named Mikasa.

Dina looked up and saw two fifteen-metre titans approaching. It wasn't good. They wouldn't be able to save the mother in time.

"HURRY UP MIKASA!" Yelled Eren still trying to lift the roof.

Dina knew what to do. After all she was a mother as well. If they stay here and try to save the woman, all four of them will die.

"Eren" the boy in question looked at her "I'm sorry but we have to go."

"If we don't go now, all of us will die" Dina said to the boy. He seemed to consider it for a moment.

Eren's mother cried from underneath. "Please take Eren and Mikasa… Please save them…"

"Mother…" Eren whispered.

"EREN!" Dina yelled "LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER!"

Eren squeezed his eyes shut and gritted his teeth. Dina didn't waste time and picked Eren up. She looked at Mikasa who had tears in her eyes. "Mikasa, we have to go!" She spoke. The girl brushed off her tears and nodded.

Eren's mother looked at Dina and mouthed a thank you.

They turned around and started running.

Suddenly they heard a swish through the air. A man just flew above and landed behind them. Dina turned her head to look at him.

"DON'T WORRY EREN!" The man yelled at the boy in her arms. "I'LL SLAY THOSE TITANS AND SAVE YOUR MOTHER!"

"Mister Hannes…" Sobbed Eren.

"RUN MISS!" Yelled Hannes. She motioned at Mikasa, and they started running towards what appeared to be a gate opposite to the breach.

They finally reached the gate. Dina placed Eren down and took a few deep breaths. She looked at the sobbing boy. "Your mother will be okay Eren" she said.

She really wanted it to be true, however a moment later she saw Hannes running towards them in panic. Eren looked at him with wide eyes.

"Mister Hannes…" Eren said with a shaky voice "where is my mother..."

Hannes looked at him with a face of a broken man. "I'm sorry Eren" he whispered "you couldn't save your mom because you weren't strong enough" he paused for a moment "and I didn't face the titans because I wasn't brave enough…"

Tears streaked down Eren's face.

While Hannes led them towards the ferry Dina felt sorry for the boy. She knew the feeling of loss even though she couldn't remember it. They went aboard and sat close to the railing. After the ferry started, some people tried jumping onto the board with the hope of saving themselves. Dina took Eren on her lap and hugged him from behind. Suddenly they heard something crushing in the distance. Dina looked towards the gate and froze yet again. It was gone. A titan came crashing through the gate, permanently opening it for the other titans.

"I'm gonna destroy them…" Dina heard Eren whisper "every last one of those animals that's on this earth!" He said gritting his teeth.

"Eren…" said Dina wondering. Somehow, she understood his pain. However there seemed to be something wrong with all this. Neither did she know where she was, nor how did she get here. She needed to recollect her memories. All this hell that she had woken up to needed to have some reason to it. She looked around. Huge walls seemed to stretch beyond the horizon. According to her knowledge there was only one place on earth like this.

Suddenly Dina realized where she was.
