Dina swished towards the running titan. This was a disaster. The warriors saw through the plan and used it to their gain. The only possible way to fix everything was to take Eren back. Dina thought about using her power. She looked back and saw a familiar face approaching.

"What's the situation?!" Mikasa asked Dina as she swished closer.

"Not good" Dina replied and pointed towards the running monster "this titan in the front kidnapped Eren."

"We have to get him back!" She exclaimed.

"Why did you come here?" Dina asked the girl.

"I heard some shots from within the forest" Mikasa said "and then I heard Eren's roar."

"Save your little chat for later!" Interjected captain Levi as he appeared between them.

"Captain, what do we do?" Dina asked him.

"We'll focus on one objective" he started "first, we give up on killing the titan."

Dina looked behind and saw the remainders of reinforcements following them.

"With this many people, we could defeat him!" She spoke.

"As long as that titan has the ability to harden its skin, killing it is impossible" the captain replied, "we'll focus on saving Eren."

It was a tough decision. Dina once again thought about transforming. She wasn't sure that the other warriors would remain passive if she did that. Right now, she would have little chance of success if she actually tried to defeat it in her titan form.

"Alright captain" she said, "what do we do?"

"You two draw its attention, I'll slash away the titan."

Dina and Mikasa nodded at that. They picked up speed and approached the titan from the sides. As it focused its eyes on them, the jaw titan didn't see Levi coming from behind. When it heard the small captain swish at him it turned its head back and slashed at him.

However, it was too late for the running giant. Levi easily avoided the giant claws and slashed through its hand. He jumped towards its face, and as it was holding Eren inside, it couldn't use the massive jaws. The two swords ended up in the eyes of the monster, blinding him.

As the small captain cut through the titan's joints, Dina couldn't believe how fast Levi actually was.

"He's fast!" Dina said and looked towards Mikasa.

The girl, however, wasn't there. Dina looked around to search for her. Mikasa was swishing right at the titan's uncovered nape.

"No!" Dina yelled at that "Wait…"

As the girl was approaching the monster's neck, the giant quickly raised its hand to swat her off. For a moment, Dina thought the girl was done for.

Just when the titan was about to get Mikasa, captain Levi blocked its hand. He must've sprained an ankle, because his face formed a painful expression. Upon that, Dina launched herself to the other side of the titan's jaw and slashed at it.

The monster's mouth opened, and she could see Eren slide out. Levi quickly picked the boy up and swished away.

"Mikasa!" She yelled at the stunned girl "Let's go!"

They both followed the small captain.

"He's okay!" Levi exclaimed "alive, anyway dirty though…"

Dina took one final glance at the titan slouched over a tree. The fumes signified healing, so they needed to get away quick. When they met back with commander Erwin, the latter fired a retreat flare.

As they were riding back to the walls, she was looking at other scouts. It was odd but it almost seemed like the soldiers were… happy? She turned to look at Erwin.

"Why is everyone so overjoyed?" She asked him "we've lost."

"Well," the commander started "the losses were minimal. Less than ten percent."

Dina was flabbergasted. She looked down.

"But we didn't achieve anything!" She exclaimed "the deaths were for nothing…"

"Don't say that" Erwin spoke "we don't know the full story yet."

Dina looked up at that.

"What do you mean?"

Erwin looked forward. They could finally see the walls.

"Sometimes, when you want to learn something, you need to look for information from all sources" he finally said, "maybe one of the scouts saw something."

Dina pondered on that. Could that be a possibility? The warriors were smart enough to see through the plan, but did they really cover all tracks? Did they not commit a single oversight?

When they finally reached the walls, reports from squad leaders started coming in. It wasn't looking good. None of the soldiers saw anything, they didn't even know how the shifter got in the forest.

The command along with Dina was sitting in a small room under the survey corps headquarters.

"The interior requested to hand Eren over" Hange said, "they want a retrial."

"The military police and the crown have an interest in Eren" Dina suddenly spoke.

Everyone turned their heads to look at her.

"Do you perhaps know why?" Erwin asked Dina.

"I think I do" she started "it has to do with his ability. They probably want to take it for themselves. We cannot let them get their hands on him. It would be over for us."

"Look" Hange started "if you have some special information, why don't you just tell us?"

Dina looked at the woman.

"My special information is my only protection" she started "if I gave it all up right now, we'd still achieve nothing. Just treat me as an important piece of this puzzle."

Erwin looked at Hange.

"Just leave it" he said dismissively "we need to focus on finding out the identity of the jaw titan."

"We just did that" Levi said. The small captain was temporarily out of battle due to his injury "we ended on something along the lines of nobody having a clue."

"There has to be some way" Erwin spoke "I refuse to give up on it. If we didn't catch anything during the excursion, maybe someone saw something before…"

Suddenly there was a knock at the door.

"Come in" Erwin said turning to look at the newcomer. As the door opened, Dina saw Armin standing in the corridor.

"Commander" the boy started "I think I know who the enemy is…"
